academic project

professors Gabrielli Simona Luce Fabio Zucchi Cino Paolo Where the war has left its mark with the bombings, we want to compensate a void that faces in a position of interest. The project involves the inclusion of a gallery for exhibitions of artists on the ground floor and two atelier apartments that fit together on the upper floors. From the perspective of a closed circuit that directly connects the figure of the gallery owner, the artist and the artist’s family itself. Intimacy, creation, transformation and exposure. An account of the knowledge and development process of a work.

Via A. La Marmora, Milan academic project

professors Barazzetta Giulio Massimo Colonna Di Paliano Edoardo

A corner of the center to be revitalized. The intent of the design is to insert two buildings that can complete again and, at the same time, break the curtain wall. This break would allow the connection of the park, linked to the monastery hidden inside, with a hypothetical green system that crosses the city. Both buildings are characterized by closing on themselves, providing at the same time a more public and a more intimate side, of meditation and silence in the chaos of the city, a rest area in which to get away from everyday life for a moment.

03 Project for the new Carpi’s hospital Amend territories by weaving relationships

Carpi, Modena academic project

professors Colonna Di Paliano Edoardo Gavazzi Alberto Mpampatsikos Vassilis In view of the expansion of the catchment area of the Carpi hospital, the project wants to propose its relocation and redistribution. The intent of the design is to reconcile the ancient type of hospital with pavilions with the necessary evolution of the hospital itself, which requires communication and exchange of information, just as if it were a single body and no longer many pieces located in space. The new idea, around which the conception of this project revolves, is the audacious vision of the hospital as a possible new hub, also in terms of city life. Given its location on the axis of the city itself, it cannot and must not divide the city into two separate blocks, as currently happens, but must try to weave relationships between the parts. Therefore, the inclusion of “unusual” areas and spaces, but which may in the future bring us closer to a different vision of the hospital structure.

04 Domus Dei A new itinerary between ancient and modern

Pompei, Naples academic project

professors Di Giuda Giuseppe Martino Ferro Luisa Petrini Lorenza Particular context not directly within the walls of the archaeological enclosure. An interesting challenge that involved covering the remains of the ancient temple of Dionysus. The project, while focusing on the archaeological area, has partly addressed the problems of the urban context, in an attempt to reduce the difficulties in reaching and using the remains. For this reason, the project was first of all confronted with the need to recover a relationship with the territory of ancient and present Pompeii, sometimes transformed and degraded. An integral stage of the new itinerary is the visit to the remains of the Temple of Dionysus recovered with the new intervention. The configuration of the new cover is not limited to giving protection but does justice to the small jewel that is inside, with a path that reveals it completely only in the terminal part.

05 Pompeii, Regio VII, 5 - The new Antiquarium at Forum Baths The modern fulcrum of ancient Pompeii

Pompei, Naples thesis project

professors Ferro Luisa Giambruno Maria Cristina Paganin Giancarlo Palma Daniele Petrini Lorenza Designing in archaeology, in a stratified and rich context of history as could be the Pompeii case, it means operating directly with the memory of the past, in symbiosis with architecture and artifacts filled by great cultural and social value. The main difficulty and the delicate task of the designer in carrying out this operation lies in the ability to bring and get out the memory of the past inherent to the place of belonging and to make it usable for the present. The archeological project is the bearer of this responsibility and acts as a link between the past, present and future. The aim of the project is to engage and consolidate a new archaeological focus, developing it through a museum and service center for visitors to offer a more complete vision of the Insula and to allow a more appropriate and suitable use for one of the most prestigious and famous archaeological site in the world.
