_In.NIa.y,.trvo.o.ne-act plays rt'ere presented in the auditorium. "The 1'ampered. Darling",.in which Harold Gangneth, Helen Stock, Roy Spilman, and \\riniired Kinne had the leading^parts, was a very interesting .o.t edy of modern times. "Ten N{inutes By the clock", inwhichBarbara Burnap and Ruth Lien took the leading parts,. was a take-off on convention loving people.
Among the bo-ys in the class who are outstanding in athletics lve fincl Orville I)umholt, Robert Boen, and \!'illard Jarvinen in basketball ; Carl Larsen, \\rillarcl Jarvinen,. and orville Dumholt in football; and Junior' Foss and'willard Jarvinen in track.
__- ouls_t?.nding vocalists o{ this class included Robert Boen, Lucille Dunlap, \\ralter Hellekson, Co.rinne Johnson, and Barbara Burnap.
The class wa-" well represenled in the music department by Katherine combaker, George 41_y*"r't, Lou.ise Boyum, Robert Boin, and Jean Bopp.
. Pramatij ability was discovered in syh,ia Kilde, Robeit Boen,'Helen R1.an, and Harolcl Gangneth.

NCRIiASED interest rvas shown in declamatory r,vork this year. over 160 students in the senior high school enrolled for training, and participated in the first elimination programs from which a11 except ten rvere eliminated.
A final elimination contest was held on January 30. N{ary Lee, r,vho read ,,The coward" won first place in the dramatic group; Ruth N,,{oe placed first in the humorous division with the selection "Tipping off the Teacher;,, Raymond \'Ieyer placed first in the oratorical group with the reading ,,I Am Innocent of this B1ood." Each of the winners w.as awarded a 1oving cup.
In the sub-district contest held at Fergus Falls, N,Iary Lee placed first in the dramatic section, and Raymond N{eyer, first in the oratorical section. These winners again represented Fergus Falls at the District Contest at Halr, lel. on I"ebruary 25.
Because the contest element in speech work is detrimental, it is very possible that the traditional contest will be replaced next year by the speech festival of extempore speeches, one-act plays, poetry readings, and declamations.
The Junior and Senior high schools have acquired this year a large collectiol of readings which are duplicated and catalogued so as to alTorcl to each student a rvide selection' Each Senior high student was allolr.ed this 1,ear to cl'roose his orvn coach from among the members of the facultr..

A loss to the hot Breckenridge Cor.r,bo)-s because of an unusuallv large floor rvas follon,ed b1. t,,vo victories; one o','er the undefeated Detroit Lakes' quint in a most exciiing game, and another over Barnesville. The Otters, after losing a hard, close game to \\,-adena, experienced a shooting slump which rvas broken at Glenrvood by superior plal.in* ,nO floorw'ork. The team, though plal-ing determined basketball, r'r.as defeated b1thc veteran \\,'ahpeton team and b1- the smooth lvorking Fargo unit. After losing games to \l-adena and Pelican by close scores, the Otters, har-ing regained their old form, came through to conquer l'airmount's tall cagcrs. A thrilling game rvith Pelican in u,hich team p1a}. was outstanding rvas lost to our opponents b1' a last minute score. In the last home game, our men took a defeat from North Dakota's best team, \\'ahpeton.

sn it came to pass in the month of September in the 'ear o{ our ,t ./- [, Lord. one thousancl nine hundred thirtr- t."r.o, that certain stuc]ents \/ ' .-ho themse]ves r,r.ere calred Freshmen conformed to the ,,$.earin, o, the greer" and clid likelvise embark on their high schoor career.
And all the mrrltitudc of Freshmen of this time dicl have unto themselr-es remarkablr.- good times at the l'reshmen partr, (at r,vhich numbers of cold shots and cakes r'vere consumed). No,,r. these Freshmen, having conformccl to the "lvearin'o'the green" as has been saicl before, did sprout ih"-r"Ir.", from the acorn into the bab1. oak and proceeded, to the relief of the Freshmen teachers, to make themselr,es unto Sophomores.
Nou'there was great merriment and romance createcr among these sopho_ mores' And in the midst of it arose unto itself a carnir.al at rvhich great sport ['as had by al1' It came to pass that these Sophomores rvere fou.ci to be fillecl u'ith the fruits of ambition. verilr-,r'erily, aspiring to become scribes, they pro_ ceeded to make unto themselr,es an eciition tf ,uh"t is kno*.n as the ,,otter,,, r'vhich, being ,i'ell received by upper classmen, helpecl to ele\.ate the not_too_ scholarly sta.dards of said Sophomores. It so happened, that there being a great amount of clramatic ability in afores:rid class, a sophomore class plal- g.as createcl unto itself for the first time in the a.nals of the rrails of learning.
And so having outgrorvn periods of puppl- ror-e ancl the il,earing of corduro' lt:yr"r:, these disciples of the Sophomore crass did gather trr"-r"i ", u,rt , ,r.,. folds of the junior class--r.r,hither or u,hence br..such facultr.--it shail nevcr be knou n.
It so happened at this periocl of time that an Otter carnival rvas concei.,.ed at r'vhich certai. of our classmates did do themselvcs unto great hor.ror by har-ing to r'r'ash dishes far into the night, *.hat itserf clid seem likc an eternity. _But came then a glorious achievement in the form of "Dacldr. The Seniors clid then settle unro themselves and performed grcat works making it a class to be remembered. a-rcODAY is Toosda1.. [ 1va[6d up and 1et Jubilee out the bedroom r.vindorv \t ' (-_Z by the rope, and after I had put on m): suspenders and milke d the cor,v, Ifedmyface. Then the Lost Bag of Tripe and \,{easly gave me the cat call and us fe11as hiked out for school. Just as I got there I heard a clump, clumpin' behind me and r'vhen I turned around here rvas \Iaisy Bossy, our co\,v, taggin' me. I chased NIaisy homc atrd cum fifteen minlrtes late for scliool. \.{ister Idste made me stay in the oflrce so I amused m).self by sticking gum all over Luella's desk -"vhen she tl.ern't lookin'. Finly cum time for my Sosial lesson. I done excellent today in Sosial I fin11, plopped one on Julie Nelson's neck r,vith my pea shooter. I got myself into difficulties in trnglish. The trigger on the radiator fassinated me so I turned it just for fun and pooflllllll,,vater squirted all over the place and Blanche Sr,vanson lvon't speak to me cus I ruint her nerv dress. The forth hour in the sembly I stuck a bana peel in the isle and Pauly Harvy turned the funnest summersalts r'r,hen he skidded on it. I guess I diden do so rvell in German toda1,. The teecher said that as a German student I would make a slveli flee trainer. I'd ruther be a flee trainer anvrvays so I ain't suprised. I took m1. stenography book home cus \,{easly told me and the Lost Bag of Tripe that the teacher gave an ar'vful test. After I had fed my face and studied mystenography I r,vent back to school. When I got to stenography class r,ve diden have no test so me and the L. B. of T. cleaned up on NIeasl), after school. Us trvo fellas skipped the seventh hour and persaded N,feasly to cum r,vith us. \'Ieasly darsn't cum home cus lve cleaned up on him good and plenty. Well, tomorra I gotta graduate so s'lon g.
