Mother’s Day With Bea Lambos

As an interior stylist and decorator Bea Lambos sidesteps trends and rules in favour of creating spaces that resonate uniquely with her clients. She makes a normal beige world move through a timeless black dress that’s textured with selfhood, and while interiors are her work, Bea admits she wouldn’t be able to thrive without the light that brightens her own space: her children.

With this in mind, we sat with Bea to glimpse her life as a mum and learn how she spends Mother’s Day with her family.

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day this year?

Every Mother’s Day in my house starts with tea, handwritten cards and presents in bed followed by lunch somewhere fun.

A chance for us to be together with good food, wine and a set of cards. Uno was always packed when my daughter Grace and son Will were small as a way to keep them busy while we ate out and this is something we are still doing to this day!

Tell me about a cherished memory of a Mother’s Day gone by Mother’s Day 2021 was an epic one and the first one where I’ve missed being with my family. Instead, I celebrated Mother’s Day with nine girlfriends (and Mums) hiking the Larapinta Trail in NT. It’s true what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder – we dearly missed our families that day - but it was also so great to celebrate the sisterhood and the work that we do on a daily basis as mums. The sundowners at the campsite that day were extra sweet!

How has the experience of being a mum challenged and fulfilled you?

It’s mighty hard to put into words the answer to this one.

It’s the only job in the universe where nothing can quite prepare you for the sheer enormity of it all. The fulfillment far outweighs the challenges, but I must admit a manual would definitely come in handy at times! My kids are a constant source of love, guidance, inspiration and amusement. They keep me in the moment and I honestly couldn’t do my thing without them on my side.

What are three words that would describe your ideal Mother’s Day? Slow, stress free and close. I feel empowered and nourished with my beautiful kids by my side.

What are three words that would describe your ideal Mother’s Day gift?

Sentimental, sweet and dressed. Anything with a bow and a handwritten card is an added bonus!
