Hello and welcome to the November edition of NFA Digital!

This month we are focusing on some of the winners of the 2023 National Fenestration Awards.

The successful people and companies were announced at the highly successful Winners Event on October 28th at Doncaster Racecourse.

It has grown to become the marquee event of the year, with hundreds of guests and finalists from around the country making their way to Doncaster to find out who the industry has voted as the cream of the crop in each category.

The 2023 event was packed with fantastic people and companies from across all parts of the sector, and was a real celebration of talent, hard work and great products. A busy day from start to finish, with fantastic horse racing and live entertainment makes the NFAs a must-attend event in the fenestration calendar.

As we head towards the end of what has been a tough year, the NFAs provides a shining light as Christmas draws nearer. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and to all those who made it to the finalist stage!

Eurocell First to Supply TripleGlazing Windows to Taylor Wimpey Eurocell has been working closely with national housebuilders to enable them to achieve energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets that meet the Future Homes Standard.

Eurocell fabricator, Rapid PVCu has secured the first triple glazed site for Taylor Wimpey in Sunderland.

National housebuilder Taylor Wimpey will use Eurocell’s Modus windows system at its Herrington View residential scheme in Penshaw, Sunderland.

Doncaster-based Rapid PVCu is a new-build specialist and has worked with Eurocell, the UK’s leading manufacturer, distributor, and recycler of PVC-U building products for 14 years.

Eurocell’s market-leading Future Homes Ready Modus window system is made from 50% average post-consumer recycled PVC-U and is manufactured using innovative dual material extrusion technology (DMET). The ultimate sustainable option, with a significantly lower carbon footprint than profiles made or recycled outside the UK. For the new homeowners that will move into the neighbourhood, with U-values as low as 0.86, the triple glazed windows will reduce carbon emissions, use less energy to heat and present higher levels of security.

Edgetech Roundtable Finds Sector Ready for Triple Glazed Future

The UK glass sector is ready for a large-scale shift to triple glazing, and thinks it’s the right move for fenestration, wider construction, and society as a whole.

That was the key message to emerge from Edgetech’s Triple Glazing Question roundtable debate, which took place in Birmingham on the 28th of September.

With the Future Home Standard just 18 months away, the sector faces big challenges as it seeks to meet ever-tightening performance requirements.

In Birmingham, senior figures from leading trade bodies, glass suppliers and IGU manufacturers discussed the industry’s ability to adapt.

Armed with just a computer, David launched UAP from his spare room. His idea was simply to manufacture installation-ready door knockers that were pre-drilled and finished. At the time, there was nothing comparable in the UK, marking the start of a journey which has seen UAP rapidly grow.

David

instrumental in expanding UAP’s customer base and product portfolio both organically and through strategic acquisitions. Today, UAP stands as a £22 million business, boasting seven leading brands: UAP Locking Systems, UAP Fullex, UAP Intelligent Hardware, UAP Firemongery, UAP Trade Locks, UAP Security Hardware, and online specialist X-Fort.

Throughout his career, David has prioritised highquality, market-driven products and championed innovation. As well as nurturing loyal partnerships with manufacturers across Asia, this strategy has seen investments in-house product development, including the recent launch of IONIC, an ultra-secure electronic lock.

David has also embraced new technology, investing in 3D printing to reduce waste during product development, demonstrating his vision for a more sustainable future.

As the UAP family has grown, so has David’s commitment to people. He has cultivated a culture of inclusivity through initiatives such as the UAP Training Academy and by developing talent and promoting internally. In 2019, he introduced a profitsharing model, underlining his passion for treating people fairly and recognising their vital contributions to UAP’s success.

A Successful Day at the Races for VBH Hardware manufacturer, VBH, had a successful day at Doncaster races on Saturday 28th October for the National Fenestration Awards presentation event.

Members of the VBH team from various departments enjoyed champagne upon arrival, followed by a sumptuous three-course lunch and a full race card. Those who had a flutter report mixed success.

When the awards winners were announced though, VBH had a better time of it, being successful in three categories.

The greenteQ iQ Security Window Espagnolette, which works with Kubu to link windows to smart home networks, was named as the Best Window Component of 2023.

The company also won the Digital Marketing Campaign category for its work in promoting the popular greenteQ Q-Smart fingerprint operated electronic door handle.

The VBH team’s final success came when Media Coordinator, Hayley Martin, was named as Social Networker of the Year. Hayley said, “I’m still in shock, but thank you for this award. I work with the best team that makes all this possible.”

Eurocell Cements Ch Fundraising Reach Eurocell the UK’s leading PVC-U manufacturer, distributor and recycler, has cemented its charity partnership with Maggie’s, a charity that provides free cancer support in centres across the UK, and presented them with a cheque for the money raised at a recent event.

The team set an ambitious target of raising £10,000 before the end of the year but has already exceeded this, raising over £22,000 for Maggie’s following a number of fundraising events in the last few months.

Eurocell presented Maggie’s with a cheque for £20,000 at its head office in Alfreton on October 17th, with the funds raised at a recent corporate charity golf day. This also coincided with a businesswide “Go Outrageously Orange” fundraising day, where employees were encouraged to dress in orange.

Maggie’s, set up by Maggie Keswick Jencks in 1996 following her own experience of having cancer, provides professional advice for cancer patients and their families on finances, wellbeing and
