Eurocell First to Supply TripleGlazing Windows to Taylor Wimpey Eurocell has been working closely with national housebuilders to enable them to achieve energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets that meet the Future Homes Standard. Martin Benn, Head of New Build at Eurocell comments: “Working collaboratively with housebuilders is something we really value at Eurocell, and this project is another example of the demand for our market-leading Future Homes Ready Modus system that ensures housebuilders meet the requirements that will be introduced in two years’ time. We look forward to the scheme completing and for future projects with Taylor Wimpey.”

Eurocell fabricator, Rapid PVCu has secured the first triple glazed site for Taylor Wimpey in Sunderland. National housebuilder Taylor Wimpey will use Eurocell’s Modus windows system at its Herrington View residential scheme in Penshaw, Sunderland. Doncaster-based Rapid PVCu is a new-build specialist and has worked with Eurocell, the UK’s leading manufacturer, distributor, and recycler of PVC-U building products for 14 years. Eurocell’s market-leading Future Homes Ready Modus window system is made from 50% average post-consumer recycled PVC-U and is manufactured using innovative dual material extrusion technology (DMET). The ultimate sustainable option, with a significantly lower carbon footprint than profiles made or recycled outside the UK. For the new homeowners that will move into the neighbourhood, with U-values as low as 0.86, the triple glazed windows will reduce carbon emissions, use less energy to heat and present higher levels of security.

John Duggan at Rapid PVCu adds: “This has been a fantastic project to work on collaborating with both the Eurocell and Taylor Wimpey teams to provide innovative, triple glazing windows which are the highest quality of their kind. Triple glazing really is the best option for lowering energy consumption and the fact that the Modus window system is made with recycled PVC-U makes them incredibly attractive for housebuilders. The windows will look really smart once the homes are finished and will provide longevity and energy efficiency for the new owners.”

Edgetech Roundtable Finds Sector Ready for Triple Glazed Future

The UK glass sector is ready for a large-scale shift to triple glazing, and thinks it’s the right move for fenestration, wider construction, and society as a whole. That was the key message to emerge from Edgetech’s Triple Glazing Question roundtable debate, which took place in Birmingham on the 28th of September. With the Future Home Standard just 18 months away, the sector faces big challenges as it seeks to meet ever-tightening performance requirements. In Birmingham, senior figures from leading trade bodies, glass suppliers and IGU manufacturers discussed the industry’s ability to adapt. Through a mixture of open, free-flowing discussion and anonymous polling, the event gauged

attendees’ opinions on a range of important topics. They were asked whether they favoured a mandatory shift to triple glazing for new-build,

“We all know that the Future Homes Standard will have a major impact on the sector, but the exact nature of that impact is still unclear.

SGM Windows joins Sheerline as a Fabricator Partner Basildon-based SGM Window Manufacturing Ltd (SGM Windows) has been fabricating aluminium windows, doors, and sliding patio doors for around 15 years, however, the company has become a Sheerline fabricator partner after choosing the brand’s fully suited and proven aluminium systems. SGM Windows prides itself on carefully choosing suppliers that offer innovative, energy efficient, secure, and reliable products, which is why the company has chosen Sheerline. One of the biggest advantages for SGM is the that between the two ranges available (Prestige and Classic), every aluminium product the company requires is available. This includes windows, doors, and the recently launched Prestige Lift & Slide Patio door, which completes the Prestige door range. Every product Sheerline has developed seamlessly matches and integrates, creating a consistent aesthetic and ensuring the products are fitter-friendly. Other factors that have influenced SGM Windows’ decision include Sheerline’s reliability and agile service. For instance, short lead times are offered as standard, with 12 stock colours to choose from, and fabricators don’t have to wait long for custom colour orders either as all powder coating is done in-house at Sheerline’s vertically integrated manufacturing site in Derbyshire. The overall performance of Sheerline’s products

has also impressed SGM Windows. Both the brand’s ranges offer high-performance U-values, which are helping consumers to reduce their energy usage. In addition, every product is Part-L compliant as standard with double-glazing. Sheerline’s products offer an aesthetic in-line with industry and homeowner trends. Super slim sightlines enable homeowners to create bright, open, airy spaces, while the choice of colours available (including dual colours) helps customers to create a unique, yet stylish look for their homes. In addition, it offers lots of styling options; Sheerline’s signature stepped look, flush stepped, contemporary, and flush contemporary. Plus, versatile threshold options for all the door options, including bi-folds and the new patio door, including a concealed ‘zero’ threshold suitable for sheltered installations. All these factors, coupled with the company’s reliable, UK based supply chain and Sheerline CEO Roger Hartshorn’s proven track record within the fenestration industry for innovative and high-quality products, has strengthened the relationship between Sheerline and SGM Windows. Stuart Bull, Sales Director at SGM Windows, said: “When we’re choosing our supply partners, we have to think about our customers. We know

they want a simple, streamlined process, as well as products that are easy to fit and attractive to homeowners. With Sheerline, we get that and more – it really is a superb range of products.” “We’ve recently opened a new showroom, which enables us to showcase the full product range and all the styling options available. We invite our customers to get in touch directly if they’d like to see first-hand what Sheerline has to offer ,” he added. Sheerline CEO, Roger Hartshorn, commented: “It’s brilliant that SGM Windows have become a fabricator partner. The fact our ethos and core values are aligned makes perfect business sense, as it means we have the same goal for our customers, which is a streamlined, consistent,

resilient supply chain and products that exceed their expectations.” Find out more about fabricating Sheerline’s products by calling the team directly on 01332 978000, email: info@sheerline.com or visit the website to view the full range of products: http://www.sheerline.com. Representatives of the company provide their comments:

Martin Hitchin, CEO of REHAU on Systems Provider of the Year: “2023 marks my 35th year working at REHAU, and what a fantastic set of accolades to add to a milestone year. Our industry is brimming with great talent, evidenced by the plethora of outstanding nominees present at the NFAs this year. The level of quality fenestration businesses are demonstrating right now has never been higher in my opinion. So, to walk away with Systems Company of the Year against some stiff competition is just the icing on the cake. I couldn’t be prouder of this great company and all the people that make it. Congratulations to all the other winners as well.”

Stephen Beresford, Head of Marketing, comments on winning Best Use of Video: “Without our brilliant fabricators, REHAU Window Solutions would not be the company it is today. There are so many fantastic businesses out there

Hannah Smith on winning Young Person of the Year: “I was really hoping that REHAU would walk away with something on the evening, but I never actually expected to win Young Person of the Year. I’m

Building Regulations, doors and windows in new buildings need to be highly thermal efficient but homeowners also want a slimline look along with high performance. At Reynaers we’ve seen a massive rise in the popularity of slimline sliding doors. While the demand is still there for bi-folding doors we have seen demand really ramp up for sliding doors, where Reynaers is recognised as a leader in the field. Within this our flagship sustainable sliding door MasterPatio is absolutely a standout product for the new homes market along with our next generation slimline windows - SlimLine 38 (SL 38), MasterLine 8 (ML 8) and MasterLine 10 (ML 10). Throughout his career, David has prioritised highquality, market-driven products and championed innovation. As well as nurturing loyal partnerships with manufacturers across Asia, this strategy has seen investments in-house product development, including the recent launch of IONIC, an ultra-secure electronic lock. David has also embraced new technology, investing in 3D printing to reduce waste during product development, demonstrating his vision for a more sustainable future. As the UAP family has grown, so has David’s commitment to people. He has cultivated a culture of inclusivity through initiatives such as the UAP Training Academy and by developing talent and promoting internally. In 2019, he introduced a profitsharing model, underlining his passion for treating people fairly and recognising their vital contributions to UAP’s success.
