CenterPoint Energy Reminds Contractors to Put Safety First When Beginning any Project
Summer is winding down, and for residents in the South, that means peak hurricane season is here. For many of them, these severe weather occurrences often result in damage to their homes and/ or yards. This upcoming season, CenterPoint Energy urges you to make safety the first step to your project by contacting 811 before beginning any fence project. No matter how big or small the repair, contacting 811 to have underground utility lines marked is essential.
Fences maintain property divisions and help residents feel secure, so after the damaging impact of a storm, this is one of the first parts of their property they want repaired as quickly as possible. Contact the free 811 service at least 48 hours before starting your dig project so there is enough time to have the underground utilities marked. Starting before lines are marked can be dangerous to workers, the property owner, and surrounding community. Damaging an underground line is not only dangerous, but also delays projects and can be costly to repair.
