CASE STUDY: Ultra Aluminum Products Put the Finishing Touches on New Multi-Family Development

Ultra Aluminum Manufacturing Inc. recently supplied its Ultra Signature aluminum railing, Ultra ornamental aluminum fence and Ultra Privacy Fence to AVCON for their recently completed multi-family project in New Rochelle, New York.

WBP Development LLC, together with L+M Development Partners, worked with AVCON to develop a mixed-use residential development in downtown New Rochelle. The building, designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, consists of 184 residences in a 7-story building with rooftop amenities, structured parking and retail.

AVCON began working on the project three years ago, after being contacted by Griffon Construction, WBP’s general contracting firm. They immediately knew the project would need railing design attention that fit the aesthetic of the project.

Over the next two years AVCON worked directly with Griffon Associates and Beyer Blinder Belle, finalizing design elements and custom mounting solutions for each area, including the parking garage, terraces, residential privacy spaces, dog run and rooftop.

Fully installed by AVCON Manufacturing in January 2023, The Ultra Aluminum products added to the project include:

• 2,300 linear feet of 2-rail continuous top picket railing with custom fascia mount posts at the terrace and rooftop parapet walls

• Over 700 linear of privacy dividers with custom fishplate mounts at the residential spaces

• 50 linear feet 48-inch-high fence with gate assemblies for the Dog Run area.

“We are proud to have multiple products featured in this impressive new development,” says Ben Jodoin with Ultra Aluminum Manufacturing. “We love working in partnership with developers and contractors to help them complete their vision for a project.”

Ultra Aluminum can create submittals and project quotes for installing contractors from the project plans they provide. Jodoin says Ultra has a network of installation partners like AVCON throughout the United States, should a develop or general contractor need turnkey proposals.

“The building industry is seeing a dramatic change in materials used for multi-family railing,” Jodoin explains. “For years, wood was the material of choice, but in the 1980s, vinyl and steel started growing in popularity. For the past two decades, aluminum has been the fastest growing material used for fence and railing due to its life expectancy, low maintenance, installation ease and competitive pricing.”
