&EJUPSJBM Nesse mes de Junho tive o Previlegio de retornar ao convivio seleto do Clube SKAL em Orlando.

A palavra SKÅL é formada por um anagrama usado pelos suecos como saudação, que significa: Sundhet (Saúde); Kårlek (Amizade); Ålder (Longa Vida); Lycka(Felicidade).

A palavra é utilizada na região da Escandinávia como saudação recíproca de alegria cada vez que as pessoas se saúdam.

O SKÅL é uma associação Internacional de profissionais de turismo, sua sede fica na Espanha e tem comitês nacionais pelo mundo afora e clubes locais que tem como objetivo promover o turismo local, nacional e mundial através do relacionamento, ou seja, o maior network voltado ao turismo. É o único grupo internacional que une todos os ramos da indústria de viagens e turismo, seus associados, os gestores da indústria e executivos, encontram-se em local, nacional, regional e internacionalmente para discutir e buscar temas de interesse comum.

O network muito conhecido nos dias de hoje já se praticava na filosofia do Skål, pois são a essência de ser um Skålega ter um contato próximo e uma amizade, seja ela local, nacional ou internacional.

"Fazendo Negócios entre amigos" é o lema principal desta associação, pois os negócios são resultado pessoal entre os gestores que fazem o turismo no mundo.

Tem por objetivo desenvolver o setor profissional, mas não é uma organização comunitária, como Rotary e Lions, mas sim uma Associação de Profissionais de Turismo, que incentiva e cria uma rede de profissionais ao redor do mundo.

Através da participação em atividades e eventos locais em todos os níveis, os associados podem encontrar colegas da indústria ao redor do mundo. Aqui, existe uma atmosfera de amizade, ideias, oportunidades e questões da indústria, em geral, que podem ser compartilhadas em um nível pessoal e empresarial.

Franquias de Turismo em expansão R$ 6,6 bilhões em 2013 Um estudo realizado pela ABF – Associação Brasileira de Franchising mostrou que somente em 2013 as franquias de turismo, principalmente as agências de viagens e operadoras turísticas, tiveram aumento de 21,9%, enquanto as demais ligadas ao setor cresceram 11,9%.

Elas respondem por R$ 6,6 billhões do faturamento total, estimado em R$ 115 bilhões.

As franquias de turismo estão investindo, expandindo os negócios e aumentando o faturamento no Brasil. A expansão das agências online, impulsionada pela entrada de novos usuários de internet, a compra de viagens a lazer por novas classes sociais, a melhoria da qualidade dos serviços e aumento do turismo doméstico foram alguns dos fatores que impulsionaram este crescimento. É o que mostra a Pesquisa Anual de Conjuntura Econômica do Turismo 2013, do Ministério do Turismo.

Os grandes eventos também foram um fator determinante para este momento positivo. As redes de turismo com crescimento em destaque no país são Tam Viagens, Flytour Franchising, CI, Clube Turismo, IE Intercâmbio no Exterior, Marsans, Travelmate Intercâmbio e Turismo e TZ Viagens, de acordo com a ABF. Em 2012, as franquias de turismo cresceram 97,8% em relação à 2011, passando de 864 para 1.848 unidades em todo país. Em 2013, este número subiu para 2.001 unidades e 41 redes de turismo credenciadas à associação.

From R&B superstar Janelle Monae's spectacular opening night concert to Saturday night's prestigious Couture Design Awards, Couture 2014 was a resounding success for two of the world's top fashion brands. Versus and Versace had their best year ever at the well-attended annual watch and jewelry show, held this year from May 28 thru June 2 at the prestigious Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.

Appealing to their young hip audience, Versus Watches put the focus on South Florida’s youthful vitality and excitement at their spectacular new booth located in the Wynn Hotel’s ALSACE 1 Ballroom. There was plenty of buzz about this year’s introduction of exciting new Versus Watch Collections celebrating South Florida’s sophisticated international style. “Orders were brisk for these hot, sexy new models,” says Kari Allen, President of Versace Timepieces for the USA and Caribbean. “Our new Key Biscane and Coconut Grove Collections are exactly what today’s young trend setters are looking for, and we couldn’t have been more pleased at how well they were received by retailers, manufacturers, and the fashion press.”

The well-attended Couture Show has become an essential destination for influential luxury buyers and retailers, which is exactly why the Versace Watch booth has always been one of the most popular destinations for attendees. “To many in the luxury industry, the words Versace and luxury have become synonymous,” says Kari Allen. “Few things define the allure of a luxurious timepiece better

than Versace,” she adds. This year, two new fashion forward Versace creations made their Couture debut. The first Skal club was founded in Paris, France in 1932 by travel trade managers.

From that modest beginning, Skal members now number more than 18,000 in over 450 clubs spread throughout 87 countries.

The new officers, called to serve Skal International Orlando for the next two years, each fulfill a unique and important role.

The club president sets goals for the club,

supports and creates values for members and leads all meetings, while being actively involved in all club initiatives. The vice president assists with all specified club initiatives, assuming the president's responsibilities in his absence and prepares to assume the role of president for the next term.

The club secretary ensures meetings are held in

accordance with governing documents, prepares and provides minutes to directors. The treasurer ensures the proper fiduciary disposition of revenues and expenses, annual auditing of financials and also assists the executive secretary/treasurer. And the SIUSA representative, represents the local Skal Orlando Club within the National Committee and International Skal organization, reporting back to the local club, as needed.

ORLANDO CITY COUNCIL GREEN

By John Denton, OrlandoMagic.com In an effort to further the revitalization of downtown Orlando and Parramore and centralize their staff, the Orlando Magic got the go-ahead on Monday from City Council to invest $200-plus million into a project that will create jobs and provide dining, hotel and entertainment Following a 120-day investigation period and a study of the Orlando Sports and Entertainment District that is designed to sustain itself year-round, City Council unanimously approved (by a 7-0 vote) SED Development, LLC – a sister company of the Magic – to construct a state-of-the art complex next to the Amway Center. The mixed-used venue will feature a corporate headquarters for the Magic that will bring more than 100 more employees into downtown.

Later phases will have a full-service hotel, conference center and residential and retail facilities. The Magic are expected to fully close on the financial aspects of the deal in the coming months.

“Like with the Amway Center, this has been several years of planning and working with the City to find the right avenue to add another great piece that will add to the core of downtown,” Magic CEO Alex Martins said. “So it’s incredibly exciting to get to the approval stage. Now, the real work begins in planning for construction. It’s going to be a long project and from start to finish we’re probably looking at five-to-six years. But we’re very excited to get started.”

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer called the project “extremely exciting” during Monday’s City Council meeting and District 6 Commissioner Samuel B. Ings lauded the Magic for their hard work in coming up with the plans for the mixed-used facility.

The design firm of RTKL helped to formulate the renderings, and that’s significant because RTKL is credited with the visions for L.A. Live next to Staples Center in Los Angeles, Victory Park near American Airlines Arena in Dallas, The Kansas City Power and Light District next to the Sprint Center, Berlin Live and a World Cup venue in Brazil. RTKL’s mission is to make the complex near the Amway Center “uniquely Orlando” and it will likely host music events, cultural events, holiday events, public gatherings, pre- and postgame celebrations and smaller events such as farmers’ markets.

Flexibility of the space will be of the utmost importance.

In the spring, City Council unanimously approved the sale of land across the street from the Amway Center to the Magic for $12.7 million. That cleared the way for the Magic to move forward on designing the 650,000-square-foot complex.

The land is located north of Church Street, east of Division Street, south of Central and west of Hughey Ave.

Construction of the entertainment complex will further enhance the Magic’s expanding footprint in downtown Orlando. The cityowned, Magic-designed Amway Center, where the Magic have played their home games since 2010, has been widely hailed as one of the finest sports facilities in North America. It was named the 2012 Sports Facility of the Year by the SportsBusiness Journal.

The dazzling facility also allowed Orlando to play host to the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has taken great pride in the success of the Amway Center, hailing it as “the envy of everyone in the NBA and the envy of everyone around the country.”

When the City Council and Orange County approved the plan to build the Amway Center in 2006, the master plan for the arena and planned surrounding developments was to “create a world-class venue for our community to enjoy” and to “lay the important groundwork for redevelopment of the Church Street corridor and revitalization of downtown.

LIGHTS MAGIC DEVELOPMENT “We’ve been talking for about 10 years now about trying to create a new downtown for Orlando and what these venues can do to create economic development and spur other mixed-use development. Because of the recession, it never happened,” Martins said. “So this is the opportunity to get it really started and be the spark. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.

Hopefully there will be other developments that pop up and revitalize downtown so that locals want to live and work and play and eat and be entertained.”

The first step in the transformation of the land will be the demolition of a city-owned parking garage as early as next summer. That will allow for construction to begin on a new office building that will serve as the corporate headquarters for the Magic. Presently, almost two-thirds of the Magic’s employees work 14 miles to the northeast at the RDV Sportsplex near Maitland, and the organization is planning to consolidate its entire operation in one facility.

Martins said the Magic are still going through studies to determine what impact the loss of a parking garage would have on venues at the Amway Center. Options include demolishing part or all of the garage in the coming months or waiting until after the Magic season.

“We haven’t worked on our construction schedule yet. We are having a lot of discussion about how it impacts the operation of the Amway Center this year, not just for Magic games, but from October to April, that’s the busiest time of the year for the Amway Center,” Martins said. “That parking is utilized, so we are studying it and looking at a number of different options. We may take down part of the garage or we might wait until the end of the season. We’ll determine over the next couple of months what the schedule truly looks like.”

The Magic’s major investment also continues their efforts in the revitalization of downtown Orlando and the Parramore neighborhood. The Magic and the Parramore community have long been partners in helping the citizens of that region.

The Magic have given more than $1 million to the Parramore community while also donating more than 3,500 service hours, building nine reading and learning centers and two playgrounds and also providing hundreds of backpacks with school supplies.

“When I specifically think about the Magic’s impact to Parramore, they’ve made donations for playground equipment and they’ve volunteered time with the players and staff to spend time with kids. And with the Parramore Kidz Zone, they’ve made major contributions there and they’ve continued to support that through the years,” Allie Braswell, CEO of the Central Florida Urban League, said recently. “The Magic are so much more than just a basketball team; they are a part of our community. They’re continuously embracing our whole community and looking for ways to give back, whether it’s through donations of money, time, resources or talent. The Magic have been a cornerstone of this community for the 25 years that they have been here.”

Martins is proud that the Magic have been able to broaden their footprint downtown so that they can be catalysts for the area. Martins is also extremely proud that the Magic will continue to be leaders in the growth and development of Parramore.

“It’s our neighborhood and it’s important to us that we continue to help revitalize it,” Martins said of Parramore.

“We think this is another step. Hopefully this is a spark for others to invest in that part of downtown. Downtown really stretches from Orange Avenue to the Citrus Bowl.

So this is an opportunity to spark the western side of that stretch.”

New This Summer: Walt Disney World Guests Can Join In the For The First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration: Inside the park’s Premiere Theater, Princess Anna and Queen Elsa join the Royal Historians of Arendelle for a fun and comedic retelling of the history of their kingdom amidst projections, lighting and special effects. Guests will be invited to join in special sing-along moments from the film’s chart-topping soundtrack. At the end of the performance, guests might find themselves becoming “Honorary Citizens of Arendelle.” The 20minute show will be presented multiple times each day.

Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland: There’s a “big summer blowout” happening inside the park’s Soundstage One, where Oaken – the film’s trading post owner – and his cousins have created the “Frozen Funland” amidst a winter wonderland. Living up to its name, there will be plenty of frozen festivities inside the makeshift adventure park Oaken and his cousins built to make the most of the sudden snowstorm.

This summer, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be celebrating “Frozen,” the hit animated feature film from Disney, with a daily character procession, sing-alongs with Anna and Elsa, fireworks, a polar playground, ice skating rink, ice carving demonstrations and a nightly party featuring a live band, all themed to the worldwide phenomenon. From July 5Sept. 1, 2014, “Frozen Summer Fun Live!” will bring to life the world of royal sisters Anna and Elsa and their fairy tale kingdom of Arendelle.

Most activities are included in theme park admission. experiences will immerse guests in lots of Frozen fun. Here are some highlights (*schedule subject to change without notice): Anna’s & Elsa’s Royal Welcome: Each day at 11 a.m., Anna and Elsa, riding in a horsedrawn sleigh, will travel in a royal procession down Hollywood Boulevard.

Rugged mountain man Kristoff is along for the fun joined by a flurry of skaters, skiers and ice cutters, all dressed in their Arendelle best.

Part of the Oaken’s Frozen Funland will be an ice skating rink with demonstrations by some of Oaken’s talented cousins on the Arendelle ice.

In addition, icy artisans will put their talents on display, creating carvings of favorite “Frozen” characters from giant frozen blocks.

Kids can enjoy frozen wintertime activities in the “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” area. For all of his Frozen Funland friends, Oaken has plenty of merchandise at his Trading Post, along with hot cocoa and sweet treats available for purchase.

Guests can take pictures with the film’s animated characters in a virtual setting, and then email them or share on their social media channels. When guests want to escape the icy atmosphere of Oaken’s outpost, all they have to do is look for the door marked “Sauna,” where they once again will exit to the warm Florida sun.

Coolest Summer Ever Dance Party: From 5:30-9:30 p.m. each evening, a live band will take the stage to celebrate the Frozen summer fun with contemporary songs and a few familiar tunes from the film.

‘Frozen’ Fun of the Hit Film at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Take-Along Olaf: As a special feature before the fireworks, guests will have a chance to be a part of a pre-show celebration by hashtagging photos of themselves in the park with a “Take-Along Olaf.” Throughout the day, Take-Along Olafs will be distributed at various locations in the park.

Guests are then invited to take Olaf along with them on their Disney’s Hollywood Studios adventures. By sharing their photos with the unique hashtag #OlafSummerVacation, their photos may appear on the big screen in this special pre-show feature.

Frozen Fireworks: At 9:35 each evening, the giant Sorcerer Mickey Hat on Hollywood Blvd. gets the full Frozen treatment with special projections of snow and ice images, in an eye-popping spectacular above Hollywood Blvd. Set to the film’s soundtrack, the fireworks show will feature some special guests – including a very magical appearance from Elsa in which she will show how her powers flurry “through the air and to the ground” to produce magically icy blue and white gleaming fireworks.
