Poppy began her netball journey at Felsted Preparatory School quickly rising to captain of the A team before moving to the senior school where Poppy’s netball skills made an immediate impact within the senior school first team starting as the youngest first team player where Poppy toured to Barbados and competed at the England Schools Netball Championships as a finalist.
Poppy, head girl and a sports scholar at Felsted School began a National Performance League pathway into Saracens Mavericks being selected for both U17 and U19 NPL teams whilst playing for Essex County and local clubs Braintree and Chelmsford before being selected by Turnford Netball Club to compete in the Prem 2 league at the age of just 16
Poppy studied Health and Exercise Science at Bath University where she furthered her netball career by playing BUCS First Team netball alongside Team Bath NPL U21 Poppy was awarded with blue colours at Bath University for her achievement within the sport
Graduating from Bath University with first-class honours, Poppy continues to play for Team Bath in the new 2025 NXT Gen League as the sport became professional. Poppy also plays for Eagles Netball in the Prem 1 league.
In 2024 Poppy was selected by Wales Netball where she competed in the inaugural Celtic Cup at the Emirates Arena Glasgow where Poppy earnt her first International Cap as Welsh Feather #229.
With Wales Netball now ranked 6th in the world, Poppy continues to focus on competing at the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and ultimately the Netball World Cup in Australia 2027.
Fiercely competitive, Poppy has a great understanding of the game with great vision across the court; playing in defence Poppy links well with the mid-court and often contributes to attack even from her position of wing defence.
Amelia K (Malins Trophy 2025)
GB Representation in Spain
Amelia has just returned from 4 weeks show jumping tour in Spain representing GB in a variety of competitions Some highlights are listed below:
● Winning the 1.20m Open class as the youngest competitor in the class.
● Placing 3rd in the 1.30m Open class
● Coming away with a 3rd and 1st place early on in the competition set the tone for the coming weeks
● Finishing 3rd in her final 1.20m class.
Her last class of the tour was the prestigious 4* the 1.35m Grand Prix, the highest she has ever competed in both in terms of height and level. For a little context, international competitions are rated from 1* to 5*, with the star level reflecting the complexity of the course, calibre of the riders, and prize money involved. Riders at the 5* level typically compete professionally, including at the Olympics, so to say Amelia was up against some extremely tough competition would be an understatement!
Amelia rode an exceptional first round to go clear, which qualified her for the jump-off. In the jump-off, the fences were raised to a maximum of 1.45m, and once again Amelia rose to the challenge, delivering another clear round.
Although she didn’t quite make the podium due to some incredibly fast times, she was placed in the class, so an outstanding achievement at such a high level

18 pupils represented the 1st XII during the season
Enthusiasm for Badminton continues to grow, with ever increasing numbers attending sessions. There has been much improvement in the skills of players across the ability range this season. Players are always encouraging each other in what is a collaborative, yet competitive environment.
This season, we have enjoyed an increasing number of competitive fixtures with the highlights being tight tournaments against Bishops Stortford College and Haileybury. The standard of play is high and matches have been closely contested with numerous games won by the small margins. All matches have been played with enthusiasm, determination and a sporting spirit. Our players should be proud of how they represented the school. Joshua has been a 1st Team Captain this year and was ably supported by two Vice-Captains Joseph B and Guanyu C.
Dance
Felsted Dance continues to grow with students performing in the annual dance show which took place on February 13th. Almost 80 dancers from across the entire school performed at this sold out event. During Sports sessions, there are groups of Year 9, 10, 11 & Sixth Form pupils dancing and some choosing to combine this with their other Sports choices so filling their whole afternoons with physical activity. Dance is offered across the entire school and has a number of students choosing to take private dance lessons, where they excel in all styles of dance and are able to experiment with their own choreography. This allows them to submerse themselves in the full dance experience, both choreographing and performing their own work. Charlotte G and Tabitha R have both been valuable members of the dance team by volunteering and supporting some of the younger years, acting as inspirational dance role models.
Golf
Felsted Golf Team have been attending Colne Valley Golf Club on a Tuesday during games time and have also played fixtures this academic year in the HMC Foursomes and ISGA Singles competitions. We took a team of 5 to the second year of the East of England Golf Championships hosted at Aldeburgh Golf Club. Ollie K and Theo M were appointed as golf captains for 2024/25
The team play home games at Colne Valley Golf Club and all the golfers are also committed to other sports.
One of the flagship singles tournaments of the year is played at Royal Berkshire and to qualify for a t-time you need a low handicap. Archie T is the lowest handicap golfer in the school (3) and represented Felsted. He found the going a little tough this year, but will be back to fight again in 2025.
It has been great to see several new younger golfers join the team this year and we look forward to developing the team as the year grows We also look forward to supporting the OF Golf Centenary Celebrations at Saffron Walden GC on September 11th 2025.
