Top Academic Performance
The Felsted Olympiad triumphs
■ Top 10% for Value Added
A unique programme of professional and school events was hosted by Felsted to celebrate the Olympic Year, including sporting and cultural events of all genres. Concerts by worldrenowned musicians, such as Julian Lloyd Webber and Neil Hannon, to critically acclaimed drama, comedy, and educational art exhibitions by professionals and students were enjoyed by all members of the community. The Olympiad was sponsored by Woop Studios, the graphic designers behind the magic of the Harry Potter films, who exhibited a wonderful display of their well known collective noun designs.

Felsted Hosts European Round Square Conference Felsted hosted the European Round Square Conference and Britain’s inaugural Youth Round Square Conference in November. This high profile event welcomed His Majesty King Constantine II of Greece and delegates from across Europe, and included a mini Model United Nations Conference, hosted by iPads. Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Felsted village proudly hosted a bonanza celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June, bringing a crowd of over 3,000 villagers, school pupils, their friends and families.

Felsted’s new Pre-Preparatory School officially opened this year. The building, named Stewart House, is designed specifically for four to seven year olds and is surrounded by characterful multi-sensory outdoor play zones. The building was opened by Old Felstedian, Mr Andy Stewart and local renowned author Nick Butterworth was a welcome guest, officially opening the Stewart House library. His well-known illustrations, from the Percy the Park Keeper series, have been used to name each classroom, and also appear on the main stairwell. ■ Nick Butterworth with Pre-Preparatory pupils.
