2026 Greetings! Happy New Year! There’s something about the start of a new year that invites a pause, a chance to reset, refocus, and be a little more intentional about how we show up for ourselves and our families. As a busy mom, I’ve learned that caring for myself isn’t optional; it’s essential. When we protect our energy and well-being, everyone benefits. This year, my goal is simple: create space for what truly matters. That theme carries throughout this issue. On page 8, we’re sharing fresh health and wellness ideas to support parents and families in 2026. Think realistic habits, balance over burnout, and wellness that fits real life, not a perfect schedule. Tips for decluttering and making a plan that will stick for 2026 from professional organizer, Amy Bergman (page 28). And because wellness is all about balance, yes, Girl Scout Cookie season is also officially upon us. To further inspire goal setting and reward dedication, Girl Scouts who sell at least 100 boxes of cookies during the 2026 season will receive their membership for the following year at no cost, courtesy of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. High school senior Girl Scouts who reach 100 boxes or more will have their lifetime membership fully funded, celebrating their commitment as they transition into Girl Scout alumnae.
In addition to supporting Girl Scouts locally, community members can participate in the 18th annual Cookies for the Military program. This initiative allows customers to donate cookies to service members both domestically and overseas, sending them a comforting “taste of home.” Last year, more than 44,947 boxes were donated. Since the program began, more than 858,000 boxes have been shipped through partnerships with nonprofit organizations that provide care packages and support to troops and their families, including Forgotten Soldiers, Operation Homefront, the American Legion and Soldiers’ Angels.

Every January, National Organizing Month invites us to start fresh. Established by the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals, this annual reset is often called “Get Organized Month” or simply “GO Month.” It’s meant to inspire people to declutter, create systems, and feel more productive as the new year begins. For some, that invitation feels energizing. For others, especially busy parents, it can feel overwhelming before the first drawer is even opened.

Decluttering and organizing are not the same thing, even though they’re often used interchangeably. Decluttering is about reducing.
