PORTFOLIO
Architecture is a fascinating field. It has existed to provide space for human society since the primitive hut. Architecture takes into account the tangible and intangible aspects of the environment in order to address its issues. To me, creating architecture is a combination of science and art addressed in a creative problem-solving process. Designing architecture needs a collaborative process to combine different viewpoints from different experts to create a good project for the future society and the environment. In this portfolio, I show my interest in architecture and urban design. My interest in urban design grew because people will be living in cities around the globe in the near future with a constantly rising trend in its population. On the other hand, less attention is placed on the urban environment, especially in Asian cities. My study at Politecnico di Milano has allowed me to understand the urban environment in a better way. I can address different issues on the city scale with different tools and approaches to enhance the people’s well-being in the urban context. In this portfolio, I would like to show my point of view through my academic and professional experience.

The project began from the desire to address the debate between architecture and identity in Bali, the island of paradise. The fast-growing tourism sector brought new influences in architectural preferences on the island. Nowadays, it is hard to build a typical Balinese residential compound because of the high land prices and traditional materials. The project aims to rethink how architectural design could integrate traditional culture by learning from the past to inform the future design. In the process, the project took different ideas as a form of knowledge transfer to create a common ground. The project experiments with "alien" ideas and adapt them to the local context, creating a form of hybrdiity. More than that, the project took considerations of the current envrionmental issues to create a resilient architecture which suites Bali for future considerations.

The daily life in-between The painting depicts the poetic life between the new housing settlement. The single housing units are placed between open yards to create a sense of porosity in the design. It is also a form of the Balinese cultural reinterpretation, the natah (open yard) which has a huge significant value in the daily life of the Balinese people.

Programme Development The design is located in a vacant site in centre hub of Denpasar. In order to create a design which respects to the contextual condition, an analysis of the regional and urban environment was very important. In the end, the significant urban fabrics can be determined and distinguished and groups of functions in the urban fabric can be seen. The site acts as an extension of these urban axis to fill the void in the vacant site.

02 BLU RRI N G BOU N D A RIES Promoting Agricultural Tourism in Incoherent Landscape in the Outskirts of Medina Academic Project (2020-2021) Thematic Urban Design Studio Professors - Laura Montedoro, Alice Buoli and Alessandro Frigerio Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, Marrakech, Morocco Completed with Dalia Abdelseed and Marat Mayilyan
The project focuses on the southern outskirts of Marrakech, where Amelkis and the informal settlement of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali exists. The project aims to bridge the gap between these city textures and create an interface of engagement that ties these communities and fulfils each other’s needs. In these capacities, we addressed three main forces extracted from the context analysis: agriculture, tourism, and housing. The project focuses on the development and provision of new attractive amenities. It intends to pull the magnet of tourism development to the south beyond Medina. Intensively, it transforms and reshapes the fabric of the informal housing issues in Sidi Youssef Ben Ali and trigger the development of the Amelkis neighbourhood. Furthermore, the project is both conscious and cautious of the duality that exists in the tourism sector (i.e., the luxurious tourism sector compared to the slums of the informal settlement). Because of this, “blurring boundaries” become the highlight of the project which provides a middle ground for different functions (i.e., agriculture, research, commercial, education, tourism, cultural, sports and other functions).

The project sits neatly in the middle of Piazzale Loreto. The location is a very famous yet quite problematic in architectural terms. It is a very busy intersection where people pass everyday to go from one point of the city to another either by public or private transportation. A very mobile and accessible location with many options to commute such as the public auto-bus and the M1 Metro Line.

In the end, we came up with two different masses which corresponds the axis to create a harmonious dialogue with the urban context of Piazzale Loreto. Other than the urban context, the existence of the M1 line played another pivotal role in the design as adjusting to two entirely different levels of the city had made the design what it is.
The architectural design studio begins with the requirements to design a musical concert hall in the middle of the intersection. Developing and analysing the urban fabric was fairly difficult with so many intersections and faces to orientate with. In the end, we decided to relate the architecture with two heavily 27

Our proposal includes sustainable performance analysis during the decision-making process of the project, aiming to illustrate with it how new developments can embrace environmentalist principles.

The modern society of today has a busy activity with a work routine for eight hours from Monday to Friday. It is definitely necessary for them to work in order to survive in an urban society like Jakarta.
Excessive ‘positive’ neurons can alter someone’s mood, cognitive ability and preference in doing a certain task. This neuronal disease causes stress, depression and even burnout syndrome. (Han, 2015)
An urban society has a very high optimism and needs effective and optimal performance to gain a great result of work. This is very different from the society a century ago, a disciplined society but full of doubts if something can be done. Today’s society is based on the ethos ‘Yes, We Can’ which refuses impossibility for a certain matter.
In addressing the issue, urban communities need activities related to contemplation to improve their mood and behaviour to a certain point. However, the urban environment with a crowded space packed with people, less free time in hand and lack of open spaces is contributing to the issue.
Behind this ethos, there is a level of fatigue which is increasingly becoming the focus of the society in the 21st century. A positivity, an infinite possibility with the possibilities of creation and achievement that can be done at any time creates a burden to the neurons.
A transit space has the quality of a public space shared and used by the majority of the population. However, the function of the transit space is still basic. Improving the function of the transit space can create a positive experience and thus enhancing the people’s well-being in the urban context.

FABRICATION METHOD An exploration of the fabrication method. This product was created using thin wood boards that are laser-cutted and glued together. The white joints are made from 3D printing materials. The design was created to be a puzzle which can be attached according to the users creativity. In the making process, I had to re-imagine and rethink of the machine’s limitation and developed a way as a creative problem-solving process.

AG House was designed for a new young family. The design was re-adjusted from the developer’s plan according to the client’s desire for additional new spaces. A new space for the maid to live in was added, complete with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and a staircase to hang the laundry. An additional parking space was added in the carport and the second balcony was widen to provide shade and add usable space on the second floor. The living room on the ground floor was readjusted to enable future family gatherings. Ventilation holes were significantly added to enable cross-ventilation in the house. The facade of the house was designed as minimal as possible, continuing the vertical and horizontal lines with white plaster to create a minimalistic look.

07 PANDEGLANG URBAN DEVELOPMENT Creating New Urban Public Space for the Region of Pandeglang, Indonesia Professional Project (2018-2019) Urban Landscape Development Project Supervisor - Ahmad Gamal Pandeglang, Indonesia Completed with the Pandeglang Design Team
The project was commisioned by the Regional Government of Pandeglang. The aim of the project was to develop and create new urban public spaces for people to enjoy. Four different sites were given by the government, each having their own challenges and opportunities. Taman Kadubanen and Bendung Cikupa are two of the most interesting site. Taman Kadubanen had a really large site besides the regional terminal. The team designed different public facilities with a viewing deck on top of the hill in the site. Bendung Cikupa has two different site seperated by the main regional road and a small river passing by. Different green public spaces were developed emphasising the existence of the river. An underground passage was added to create a connection between the seperated spaces. In short, the project focused on creating inclusive open public spaces for the people by incorporating different active functions.

Professional Project 2018/2019 - Labuhan Seashore Fishermen Housing
The design aims to accommodate the fishermen community located at the seashore of Labuhan, Pandeglang. The seashore is the heart of the fishermen’s activity. Because of that, relocating them to another place is not going to solve the problem in hand. The team decided to keep the location at the seashore with few notes on the land types. The existing neighbourhood is very dense with little alley ways just about 1.5 metres wide. Most of the houses were semi-permanent houses which uses wood and bamboos as the main structure. The are is considered a slum as trash are everywhere. There seems to be less attention from the government regarding their well-being and sanitary issues.
By rejuvinating the site, we hope to create a better well-being for the fishermen. We had effectively design multi-family houses to create more open spaces for the inhabitants. The multi-family houses are designed to accommodate 200 families, roughly about 1.000 people in the neighbourhood. The houses are unique because of the connection between each houses. People are able to move from one house to another by a series of connecting bridges, either from the groundf floor or the upper floor, which minimises the effort to go around the long way around to another house.
