Our Mandate: To maintain and manage the Fritz Community Centre, Red Barn, Grey House and outbuildings, to offer and provide activities to maximize the usage of the Red Barn and the Fritz Community Centre facilities in the best interest of the Baie-D’Urfé community and to provide quality activities facilities at a low price in order to facilitate access to all.

Activity Report 2018 Baie-D’Urfé Community Buildings Club In January 2017, the newly formed Baie-D’Urfé Community Buildings Club signed an historic agreement with the Town of Baie-D’Urfé establishing itself as a non-profit organization mandated with the management of the Fritz Community Centre and the Red Barn. The Town of Baie-D’Urfé has for many years placed the Fritz and Red Barn Buildings at the disposal of its residents, community associations and others for the organization of private and public events. The town administration established the CBC to encourage further public involvement in the preservation, maintenance and usage of the buildings while ensuring and increasing access to all citizens. The CBC manages the buildings in accordance with the Town’s by-laws and regulations and with the objective of maximizing public usage and providing quality activities at an affordable price. The buildings are cared for by the on-site custodians who live in the adjacent Grey House. The custodians have an employment agreement with the CBC. The Fritz Community Centre and The Red Barn are properties owned by the Town of Baie-D’Urfé. The Town maintains the ‘immovables’, or hard products which include the building structures and systems (electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, etc.). The CBC maintains the ‘movables’, or soft products which include the furnishings and daily use items in the buildings.

DESCRIPTION The major portion of our budget is payroll and we are careful to limit capital expenses in order to meet obligations for the year. That is why our major purchases are made in the third and fourth quarters. We continued with selected rentals of the Red Barn property to compensate revenue losses resulting from the closure of the Fritz house last summer for floor refinishing and interior painting and repairs.
RISK AND CONTINGENCIES Financial risk is anticipated when we are required to close the buildings for repairs and maintenance and thereby cannot accept rentals during that time. There was a period of closure in 2018, during which time we accepted selected rentals for the Red Barn. In 2019, we anticipate possible closure of the Fritz house for exterior painting and structural repairs.
FINANCIAL POSITION We anticipate a healthy reserve to meet our contractual obligations during the first calendar quarter of 2019, which is historically our slowest rental period with corresponding revenue. Our grant request from the Town for 2019 will be the same as in previous years: $50,000 to cover base salary and wages.
