Annual Report

Letter from the

President One of my favorite verses of the Bible right now is Nehemiah 6:3. A cupbearer to the king, he felt called by God to return to Israel to lead the people in rebuilding the ancient city walls. Like many of us who feel called to do a great work, he was met with opposition. Believe it or not, there were those who wanted to distract him from the good work he was doing! But Nehemiah didn’t waver mentally, physically, or spiritually. He instead prayed that God would strengthen his hands, and he declared to those who tried to distract him, “I am doing a great work, and I cannot come down.” The same can be said of Directors Foundation (DF). No matter the distractions we face, we will stand firm like Nehemiah. This past year, we saw a great example of this biblical truth. For nearly 20 years, Abilene Youth Sports Authority (AYSA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for youth sports in Abilene, had a vision of building a state-of-the-art sports complex that would expand and promote a healthy culture of youth sports in West Texas. We tried countless ways (and times) to build a sports facility, despite opposition from community leaders, businessmen, and important donor entities. But persistence, prayer, and patience prevailed! We are finally seeing the fruits of our planning, prayer, and labor! The Dodge Jones Youth Sports Center (DJYSC) opened in February of this year, and it has been the flagship project of the Abilene community, touted as an example of how a public-private partnership should occur. The naysayers became partners, and God’s timing, as always, was perfect. We’ve had to keep doing the good work and not give up on the vision God revealed almost two decades ago. We’re expecting great things to

happen through the DJYSC, and we pray many lives will be changed in the coming years! DF is also helping to change lives through global missions. In March, volunteers traveled to Mexico to build homes for two families. At the time, the families were forced to live in makeshift lean-tos, as their previous homes were washed away by torrential rains. The numerous volunteers rallied support financially, and through their physical presence, made the families’ plans of a better life possible. Over the course of three days, 100+ volunteers built both homes from the ground up from material that will withstand the destructive rainy season. The most incredible part of the build wasn’t the construction of the physical homes, but rather, witnessing to the two families who accepted Jesus as their Savior! Physical homes here on earth; spiritual homes there in heaven. These transformative experiences with Directors Foundation have me looking forward to future lifechanging projects. It is a blessing to be part of Directors Foundation, and in the spirit of Nehemiah, we refuse to “come down” because God has called us to keep doing good works.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Directors Foundation’s mission is to be the best, most-respected partner to like-minded nonprofit organizations in order to promote the cause of Christ and be His hands and feet in a lost and hurting world. Directors Foundation is now in its fifth year of operation and continues to impact lives through the dollars and man hours donated through various mission projects both at home and abroad. We invite you to join our cause to serve by donating a meaningful gift in memory of a loved one or in honor of a role model or mentor. Visit www.directorsfoundation.org for more information.

In addition to supporting local charities, Directors Foundation launched its fifth mission trip, partnering with Funeral Directors Life and Vital Seed Ministries. Over 100 volunteers gave their time and expertise to help build homes for two families in San José del Cabo. Construction took three days and planning took over nine months. The completion of two new homes was life-changing for the José Luis and Julio Cesar families. These families went from living in lean-tos to owning a home with concrete floors, electricity, bathrooms, and running water. In addition, both homes were built with hurricane-resistant materials to withstand the annual storms. Many volunteers were so touched by the impact of this project that they purchased additional items for the families, including clothing, kitchen utensils, additional beds, bedding, and toys for the children! We also partnered with a local nonprofit organization, Cabo Rolls. Together, we hosted a daily evangelical outreach to the neighborhoods in which we were building. This organization provided a needed hands-on partner for serving the community. As a result of their efforts, both families accepted Jesus as their Savior and committed to start attending church services.
