Congressional School is hosting a Virtual Open House on Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Attendees will meet the school’s Head of School, academic and admissions teams, and several current parents while learning about the school and its academic and extra-curricular programming. Congressional School serves 400 students and 2,000 campers annually through its academic and summer programs. The Falls Church Chamber of Commerce will host a virtual networking breakfast on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. The informal event does not include a program but is designed to help business leaders share ideas, discuss issues, and build relationships. Island Fin Poke is opening this month in the Idylwood Shopping Center at 7501 Leesburg Pike, Suite 129, in Falls Church. The franchised restaurant owned and operated by Bonita Bell, will offer Hawaiian-style poke in customized bowls with locally and responsibly sourced ingredients including eight proteins, more than 25 toppings, house-made sauces and specialty mix-ins. The grand opening date is set for Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, during which 20 percent of proceeds will be donated to Food for Others, Inc. Founded in 2017 and franchising since 2018, Island Fin Poke is a Florida-based fast-casual chain with eleven locations in Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, and Virginia, with numerous others in various stages of development across the country. Headquartered in Falls Church with 40 employees, Caveonix announced it has raised $7.3 million in Series A funding. The round was led by First In Capital, as well as other early investors in the company. Founded in October 2017 and funded by cybersecurity veterans Tim Sullivan and Kaus Phaltankar, Caveonix provides digital risk and compliance management solutions for enterprises undergoing digital transformation.
