FALL CALENDAR 2019 Opportunities for Educators

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium offers programs designed to share the wonders of our local ocean; from guided Aquarium tours to Ocean Outreach programs that bring marine life into the class room, to naturalist-led whalewatching trips. Educators Open House

Tuesday, September 24 5 - 7pm Wear your Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops and join us for a Back to School Luau at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium! Come and experience our wide variety of free and fee-based school programs. Learn how the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium can be a resource for your teaching needs. Enter a raffle for a chance to win a free bus to the Aquarium, free classes and much more! Visit our gift shop and bookstore during the open house and receive 10% off all purchases. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is requested: 310-548-7562. Fee: Free

Science at the Seashore Little Squirts

Ages 2 - 4 (with Parent)

Wednesdays, October 30, November 6, 13, 20 1:30 - 3pm On four consecutive Wednesday afternoons you can join CMA Educators for a series of hands-on after-school marine science adventures. Little Squirts is offered for 2 - 4 year olds participating with parent/guardian. (Little Squirts class size is limited to 10 students.) Snack is no longer provided by CMA. No walk-ins please, registration is required; call 310-548-7562. Deadline to register is one week before the class begins. Fee: $30 ($27 FRIENDS members) for the series. Financial assistance available.

SEA Club

Wednesdays, September 4, 11, 18, 25 3:30 - 5pm Grades 4-6 Wednesdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 3:30 - 5pm Grades 2-3 Wednesdays, October 30, November 6, 13, 20 3:30 - 5pm Grades K-1 On four consecutive Wednesday afternoons you can join CMA Educators for a series of hands-on after-school marine science adventures. Activities may include observing animal behavior; examining rocky shore animals at the tidepools; exploring the wonders of mud at the salt marsh; getting up-close with microscopes, and more; students help plan the schedule. Snack is no longer provided by CMA. No walk-ins please, registration is required; call 310-548-7562. Deadline to register is one week before the class begins. Fee: $30 ($27 FRIENDS members) for the series and includes a SEA Club T - shirt. Financial assistance available.

Monthly Beach Cleanup

Saturdays, September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7 10am - 12noon On the first Saturday of each month, join CMA Educators in helping to keep our Coastal Park eco-friendly and clean! Come find out what marine debris is doing to our ocean and help us to collect and categorize what we find on Cabrillo Beach. Groups wishing to participate are asked to call during business hours Monday through Friday at 310-548-7562. Meet at the steps in front of the John M. Olguin Auditorium.
