Associates of the Sisters of St. Joseph

Historical Foundation

In the 17 th century, our founders, Father Jean Pierre Medaille, SJ and six women, understood from the beginning the importance of laity joining in our spirituality and ministry. To emphasize the importance of this partnership, Fr. Medaille included in our constitution the establishment of a program where laity can join us in good works and prayer. Today, the program is known among our congregations as the Sisters of St. Joseph Associate Program.

Joining in Our Mission

tÄÄ Åtç ux ÉÇxAÊ Jn. 17:21

The Associate Program is open to any sincere person who desires to share in the spirit and values of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The program offers an opportunity to be a part of a faith community that seeks to grow as the “Body of Christ.” Associates are spiritual companions and co-workers with the Sisters while continuing their daily lives. Joining to promote our mission, Associates help to provide spiritual and earthly needs of the dear neighbor. Associates do not take public vows; do not live in community or a convent; do not have a voice in governance or any financial obligations.
