Pastor Nick : “Newness of Life

Newness of Life Pastor Nick Quient

“Therefore, we were buried together with him through baptism into his death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too can walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4 (CEB)

As I took Nolan for a walk this morning, the cold air piercing my lungs and nose and eyes, I began to realize something. It took me a few laps around the apartment complex for that ‘something’ to fully unravel itself but through the falling leaves, wicked cold air, and chattering of a bourgeoning baby’s vocabulary, I finally figured it out: change is in the air. May our joy be complete this year, and may we find rest how we love our neighbors as ourselves.

Change is in the air.

We have moved through spring, summer, fall, and now the season of winter where times and events of change most of us could have never seen or imagined. And now here we are in the New Year, with all of the hopes and dreams of yesteryear with us, I hope we can begin to move into something new and wonderful. I think of being buried with Christ and emerging into resurrection life.

2020 gives way to 2021 in the way that snow gives way I think the call for newness of life is a vital part of formation, even if it is difficult and painful and often crushing. We have all felt that over the past year and there is no need or reason to downplay that. However, if we have united ourselves to Christ and are continually seeking him, then we are already in newness of life.

in the air. May that start with us and may that impact to green.

May the God of all joy and peace comfort you and give you dreams to dream.
