Innovation in Horticulture Bayer CropScience is pleased to present three of the most recent fruits of our labour in product innovation in horticulture. Read on to learn about new Alion, Titan Emesto and Luna Tranquility.
Introducing Alion A new definition for season-long weed control in orchards Alion™ is a breakthrough new broad-spectrum herbicide that redefines weed control for orchards. Alion puts a completely new mode of action to work – a Group 29 – to provide excellent season-long residual control of annual grassy and broadleaf weeds on pome fruit, stone fruit and tree nuts. Alion’s powerful reach extends to glyphosate, triazine and ALS-resistant weeds. And, if emerged weeds are present at the time of application, simply tank mix Alion with a contact herbicide like Ignite®. Alion enables growers to more effectively rotate modes of action and preserve the utility of weed management technologies. It
can be applied to established orchards of at least three full growing seasons. Application timing is completely flexible to your needs: Alion can be applied anytime during the season as long as the ground is not frozen or snow covered. Alion offers an extremely low use rate, excellent environmental safety, and it stays where you put it. By choosing Alion, growers will benefit from its outstanding performance, and weed control they can depend on for the entire season.
Introducing Titan Emesto The one-of-a-kind coloured liquid potato seed-piece treatment Titan™ Emesto™ will change the way you look at potato seedpiece treatments. Titan Emesto is a unique new coloured liquid formulation, and that’s good news in two ways: first, because it’s a liquid, you’ll get greater precision and safety in application than you get with dust treatments. And because our coloured formulation is easy to see, once it’s covered, you know it’s covered. That’s just the start of what makes Titan Emesto unique. Its co-pak is made up of three active ingredients to ensure absolute protection and control: the proven insecticide Titan, the broadest spectrum seed-piece insecticide, and
Emesto Silver, a fungicide with two new modes of action. With this powerful combination, Titan Emesto provides the broadest spectrum of disease and insect control available for potato growers in Canada, controlling current resistant fusarium strains, and delivering superior seed-borne rhizoctonia control, good activity on silver scurf and unsurpassed insect control.

CropTalk Go with Prosaro for premium FHB and leaf disease protection in cereals PROSARO
P
rosaro® combines the best two active ingredients available for cereal disease protection – prothioconazole and tebuconazole – to offer the broadest spectrum of activity for leaf and head diseases in wheat and barley. With both protective and curative properties, Prosaro is the most effective fungicide for suppressing fusarium head blight in wheat and barley, while stopping all of the major yield-robbing leaf diseases. When applied at early flowering in wheat and just after head emergence in barley, Prosaro protects the florets from FHB infection through the grain fill period. Prosaro also provides outstanding curative and protective activity against foliar diseases, including leaf rust, stem rust, septoria leaf and
glume blotch, tan spot and net blotch. Even better, Prosaro effectively reduces levels of DON and other fungal mycotoxins. The bottom line? Research shows that cereal crops treated with Prosaro produce higher quality grains: higher yields, higher thousand kernel weight, lower fusarium damaged kernels, and lower DON levels. What else can you ask for?
