A Summer of Fun for Campers of All Ages BY THERESA McCLELLAN While some churches are choosing not to host Vacation Bible Schools and Camps due to budget con straints, tight schedules and lack of willing volunteers, this is thankfully not the case for First Baptist Church! Rev. Hannah Coe, Associate Pastor of Children and Families, and her ministry teams are knee-deep in summer 2016 plans for children! Among activities in the works are Vacation Bible Camp (VBC) and Sports Crusaders Basketball Camp (SCBC) to be held Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24. Still telling tales from last year’s blessings and adventures, the FBCJC children are abuzz. Will the theme song be as fun as last year’s “Our God is Alli Goodman having fun Powerful”? Do 5th and 6th at VBC in 2015. graders get to mentor and help out in the preschool classroom — a rite of passage — as in past years? Who will be the teachers? What fun treats do we have to look forward to? Will I make new friends? Learn a new craft? Will we learn new Bible verses or get to do old favorites? Anticipation is high as this year’s Vacation Bible Camp, “Cave Quest,” draws near. The fun is not just for children. Many youth and adult volunteers are needed to make VBC a success. Join the team and you’ll be surprised by the many blessings you receive from guiding children to follow Jesus. Contact Pastor Coe to learn more about serving as a volunteer. Sports Crusaders Basketball Camp is also in the works

and poised to be as action-packed as past years! What could be more fun than honing basketball skills, hearing God’s word and working with high-energy coaches? Add special days like “crazy hair day” and this is another fun-filled summer opportunity in the works. Although lunch is served, last year campers got to take turns making their own snacks and serving one another. Sure, basketball players can learn their way around a kitchen! Registration materials will be e-mailed, mailed and available at the church and online. Completed forms can be brought to the church. The registration deadline for both camps is Monday, June 6. Spread the word…bring a friend…make camping memories 2016 style!
