UPCOMING In the final days of September, COVID-19 deaths surpassed 200,000 in the United States and neared 1,000,000 globally. As we round the bend to the 2020 presidential election, partisan noise will reach fever pitch in the news and around our Sunday dinner tables. We can understand why we might feel tired and weary, anxious and afraid, or like life is fragile right now. In our Troubled Hearts sermon series, beginning September 27, we will study and reflect on God’s presence and provision in times of fatigue, fear, and fragility. We will ask ourselves prayerfully what it means to rest in God’s presence, to grow faithfully, and to practice compassion with others in these days when our hearts are troubled.
Our Senior Pastor, Doyle, and all of his family continue to be overwhelmed by your kindness, generosity, and prayers on their behalf as Doyle receives cancer treatments. Though this is a challenging and heartbreaking experience for Doyle and his family, they are encouraged by your love and prayers and assured they do not walk this road alone. We continue to ensure Doyle receives the cards and notes you send to the church office. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SOUTH SCHOOL SUPPORT Thank you for the generous school supply donations in August for our partners at South School! While no volunteers are allowed in the building due to COVID-19, FBC JC was able to provide box lunches for the staff’s first work day in August. Additionally, we will continue to supply quarterly boxes of supplies to teacher. Volunteers are needed to help pack the boxes each quarter. Our first work day is Wednesday, October 7, at the church. If your faith were a muscle, how flexible would it be? Could it stretch to your knees? Your shins? Your toes? Or are you not sure you even have any faith to stretch in the first place? Just like your body, if you want a faith that is strong, growing, and capable of carrying you through difficult challenges, you’re going to need to stretch it. It might be fun. It might be challenging. But it will definitely be worthwhile. In this series, we’ll discover four ways we can stretch our faith from Paul, the author of the book of Romans and a man whose life was completely transformed by Jesus. Thanks to Paul’s words, we know we can stretch our faith my making a commitment, by starting something new, and by letting something go. We can even stretch our faith when we feel like we’ve failed. WEEKLY SCHEDULE 6:30 - 7:30 pm - Grades 6-8 (doors open at 6:15) 7:30 - 8:00 pm - Transition/Cleaning 8:00 - 9:00 pm - Grades 9-12 (doors open at 7:45) WHAT TO EXPECT We will meet as a large group in the gym, seated in chairs socially distanced. The gym gives us plenty of room to spread out and tall ceilings. The first 25 minutes will be a game, worship and a message ... all following our guidelines. We will dismiss small groups one at a time to go to their designated meeting space inside or outside (if weather permits) for the final 30 minutes. Temps will be checked when youth enter, hand sanitizer will be available and masks will be worn by everyone at all times. Chairs and all touch surfaces will be disinfected between the MS and HS gatherings.

Sunday Mornings for Kids FBC Kids will gather from 9:30am-10:30am at Memorial Park. Children ages 3 years old through 5th grade are invited. Email hannah@fbcjc.org for additional info. November 1st—Special morning at the park!
Our preschoolers will learn that God is with them wherever they go.
Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes on Sunday morning, November 1st at the park. We will have special Halloween activities to celebrate (this very different) Halloween 2020!
Worship Each Sunday morning, worship bags will be provided for children who attend worship in-person. Children will be able to take their worship bags with them. We will have a children’s time each week in both virtual worship and in-person worship. A friendly reminder to families that masks are required for people ages 2 years old and up. As always, children will be welcomed and loved as we worship together in a new way. Watch for Parent Cues and Weekly Videos provided to every family every week this year.
Family Devos and Weekly Videos Each week this year, our families will receive weekly Bible story videos that are age-specific for each child in your family. If your child will attend our park gathering, please show your child the Bible story video prior to Sunday. Even if your child is not attending in-person events, we hope these videos and devos will be helpful for your family. Email hannah@fbcjc.org for more info.
