I’m grateful Rev Cara Harrington will preach in my absence on June 8 and 15

The week of June 25, a few of us will welcome the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship global assembly to St. Louis, MO! What a treat for the Assembly to come to Missouri for the first time. FBC JC is honored to be recognized as a Missions Excellence congregation on Thursday morning.

Our amazing Maintenance Team continues to work on projects around the building as we prepare for new, attractive, and informative wayfinding signage around our buildings Guests (and members) often struggle to find their way around Our new signage, developed by Firehouse Design, will help every person navigate our large campus as we continue to live out our value to welcome warmly.

This summer at First Baptist, we’re hitting the road, pulling up a lawn chair, and setting sail in a three-part sermon series designed to meet us in every season of the soul

In June’s "On the Road Again, " we journey with early believers and psalmists who remind us that God meets us in prisons, rest stops, and unfamiliar places breaking chains, offering rest, and calling us to follow, even into uncharted territory.

July’s "Backyard Theology" invites us into the everyday sacred picnics, bonfires, gardens, and neighborhood conversations where faith is grown and practiced in community, through hospitality, listening, and prayer.

Then in August’s "Sailing into the Deep, " we explore how to stay anchored in what matters, trust God like a lifeguard on watch, row together in unity, and courageously dive into deeper discipleship. As summer winds down, we return to the shore where Jesus still waits welcoming, feeding, and sending us forward with grace.

Food 4 Kids Volunteers Needed July 28 – Aug. 1

Hunger is a daily reality for many children right here in Jefferson City Children who rely on school lunch programs may go hungry during summer months when school is not in session The Food 4 Kids program provides nutritious food options during the summer For nearly twenty years, FBCJC volunteers have joined with other churches and organizations to prepare healthy snacks and sack lunches to distribute throughout the community for children who might otherwise go hungry

What is Food Insecurity?

A child won’t necessarily tell you he doesn’t have food at home, but hunger shows itself without words Food insecurity in children causes cognitive and behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, and an increased risk of chronic illness Food insecurity means a household lacks consistent access to enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life Recent data from MU Extension reveals that one in five children faces hunger in Missouri Missourians experience poverty and food insecurity at rates higher than the national average The number of families experiencing food insecurity in Missouri is steadily rising Fighting food insecurity feeds a child today and invests in the health and overall well-being of our community

FBCJC Volunteers are needed the week of July 28 – Aug 1

Three to four volunteers are needed daily, 10:30 a m -11:30 a m , to prepare and pack lunches

Two delivery teams are needed each day A delivery team consists of one driver and one helper to assist with distribution Delivery teams pick up food and distribution assignments around 11:45 a m and return by 1:00 p m (or earlier if all lunches have been distributed)

First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City is the food prep and pick-up center Volunteers may sign up for one day, multiple days, or the entire week

To sign up for food preparation and/or delivery go to www.fbcjc.org/events. l l 73-291-5485.
