The exact date of our Phase 3 reopening (limited in-person worship in the sanctuary with cautious protocols in place) will be announced as soon as possible and will be based on health department data and continued consultation with medical professionals. I hope you join me in thanking Lisa Allen and Glenna Honich, who are co-leading our Phase 3 Team. They are coordinating the hard work of many volunteers as we prepare for safe and meaningful worship opportunities. More details are provided here in The Beacon. The racial tension in our nation is heartbreaking. I am thankful for the many, many policemen and policewomen who carry out their work with courage, courtesy and
fairness. But like you, my heart is sickened by brutality and violence against blacks. Something in our nation’s soul must change. As a privileged white male, I acknowledge my own blind spots and imbedded racism. Along with many others, I want to be a part of the solution. Many of us are working hard to address issues of racial inequality in our own community. Together, let’s see what love can do. 4th of JULY carnival
The carnival will start setup at the intersection of Madison and Capitol on July 1. Each day they will move east up Capitol until they are completely setup to Adams Street for July 3rd.
Looking to Make a Positive Difference? Let’s Work Together to Help Families in Jefferson City. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS BEGIN IN JULY We have an opportunity to help rebuild Jefferson City! The River City Habitat for Humanity build on Jackson Street is set to begin in July. Four homes will be built for families affected by the May 2019 tornado. We are excited to be a part of this mission opportunity. Safety guidelines have been adopted including limiting the number of volunteers per site to only five, wearing face masks and tool sanitation. DATES FBCJC volunteer days for each month are listed below. Let us know which dates work for you and how you would like to help. You can choose one day or multiple days. A typical workday is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Governing Board of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Statement on Racial Justice June 4, 2020 We, the members of the CBF Governing Board, express our grief at the heinous killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. These three precious children of God are only the latest victims in a long line of unjust murders and lynchings at the hand of hate, bigotry, white supremacy and systemic racism, endemic in our society. We add our voices to the millions, all over the world, outraged at the lack of swift justice. As Christians, we ask forgiveness from God for the times when we have seen injustice and “passed by on the other side” (Luke 10:31-32); when we have remained silent, when we have stayed complacent, when we have made up excuses for our indifference and prejudice. We ask forgiveness from God for the times when we preach the rhetoric of unity and love from the pulpit without doing the work. We ask forgiveness from God for the ways our lack of action has perpetuated unjust systems. As CBF, we speak out of the deep conviction that the work of racial justice, anti-racism and the search for honest racial reconciliation are, most of all, acts of faithfulness. The prophet Micah told us long ago that the Lord requires that we “do justice.” (Micah 6:8) Paul reminded us that “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, but now God has entrusted the message of reconciliation to us.” (II Corinthians 5:16-21) So we know that doing justice and pursuing reconciliation are central to the mission of God and, therefore, necessary to Christian faith.
