UPCOMING Two words of gratitude to share with you: 1) I am grateful for the strong financial finish we made in 2019. You are such a generous congregation. We are still combing our giving history, but December may have set a record for contributions. We will share more details soon. And the bountiful giving is not limited to budget receipts. Every month, you provide vital benevolence resources. Furthermore, you may have seen on Facebook—the total money given at our December Youth Dessert Theater was $9,000. Because of your faithfulness, many lives have been touched. 2) I am extremely privileged to pastor a congregation which can model for other churches and the world how to be united in Christ despite political differences. Last month in this space, I shared with you suggestions from a non-partisan organization called
Golden Rule 2020. They reminded us of some things we should do. This month, some things we should not.:
February 10
· I won’t use inflammatory words or derogatory names.
February 23
· I won’t make broad generalizations about individuals or groups.
February 24
· I won’t assault the character of others or falsely impugn their motives. · I won’t question another person’s faith or patriotism. · I won’t demonize or describe as enemies those who hold political beliefs different from my own. Together in 2020, let’s see what love can do. Grace,
Doyle

Mission 2020
TRIPS
KENYA // June 13-25 2020 Cost: $3,000 - $3,200 (depends on flight) $500 deposit due by February 15, 2020 Working with children at The Well Children’s Home. Team will plan and lead fun learning and Bible activities with children as well as other small projects at the home. Includes a two-day safari.
SOUTH DAKOTA // July 19-24 2020 Cost: $450 $100 deposit due by February 15, 2020 Helping with a children’s camp for Lakota boys grades kindergarten through grade 2.
The Kenya mission trip will change your life! New cultural experiences, meeting school kids working hard toward a better life, staff personnel committed to the lives of these kids, seeing God work in the lives of people, young and not so young, will make an impact on your life. Watching these kids grow in Christ and in their education is so rewarding. A typical day in Kenya will open your eyes. Seeing God at work in the kids at the orphanage ,”The Well” will open your heart. We focus on building relationships with the kids and staff. We sometimes work on projects at the site where the 30 plus people live. We go to make a difference, but the difference is often where you least expect it. Do you love working with children? If so, the South Dakota mission trip may be for you. The team will assist with a day camp for Lakota boys ( K-2nd) at the Diamond Willow facility near Fort Thompson, SD. Individuals will be assigned to family groups for the entire week. Groups work together through lessons, games, and competitions, all with the focus of communicating the Gospel. Activities are planned by the staff, and information is provided in advance with all resources available on site. Volunteers reside on site in bunkhouses with all meals provided except during travel to and from SD. The camp experience facilitates personal mentoring relationships to address spiritual and emotional needs, and to teach Biblical truths and principles.

You probably don’t have the power of flight or the ability to shoot energy beams out of your fists, but in this 4-week series you’ll see that you have the potential to help save the world too, when you embrace who God made you to be, care for the people in front of you, rely on your team, and are heroic in ordinary situations.
