The Coe family is very excited to welcome a new baby girl in April. We appreciate your outpouring of love to us through words of encouragement, prayers, and gifts; we have felt loved and supported as we prepare for baby Coe. We are exceedingly grateful to FBC that I will be able to take maternity leave from early April until early July. I will return to the office, and to email, in early July. Leave time will allow me to focus on helping my family transition from four to five, physically recover and establish a new routine, and soak up the fleeting first days with our baby (they go by so fast!). Thank you, church, for the gift of leave time and your continuing, multi-faceted support of our family.

Join us for a morning of service in our community! This is our 6th year of canceling our worship services and Bible teaching at First Baptist Church on the last Sunday of April to worship through service in our community. There are nine churches involved in this year’s Mission JC.

T‐shirts will only be available the morning of the event while supplies last. Shirts are free to participants, but donations are welcomed to off‐set the cost. First come, first served for projects. Children under 12 years of age do not need to register. More information is available on the website at missionjc.org or on our Facebook page. We are collecting toiletries for one of the projects. Travel size donations needed: shampoo; conditioner; tissues; toothpaste; soap; deodorant. Regular size combs and toothbrushes are also needed. WAY T O G O ! Our first through sixth graders have been working on memorizing the books of the Bible in order. Those children who met their goal got to attend our Mystery Party in March. We went to Laser Lanes for a night of dinner and fun. Our children’s ministry leaders and parents are SO PROUD of these children for working hard to meet their learning goal. Thank you to Ryan Kormann, who helped chaperone our Mystery Party.

Ukraine
Sept. 17-26, 2018 Cost: $2,500
MISSION TRI P Purpose: Work with our partner church in Lviv, Ukraine, to build relationships in the community through small group gatherings and Bible studies, teaching ESL, and some work with refugee ministries. We’ll also enjoy some sightseeing in Kyiv, Lviv, and end the trip with two days in Poland where we will tour Auschwitz.
$300 deposit due April 15 A non-refundable deposit of $300 is due by April 15 to register for the trip. The $2,500 includes everything except a few meals while traveling and expenses related to securing a US Passport and/or any recommended vaccinations.

Basecamp Souled Out
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30pm We may not like to admit it, but we all have questions and doubts about our faith. In this series, we’ll help our youth see that our doubts and questions don’t have to destroy our faith but refusing to talk about them might. We’ll encourage teenagers to wrestle with their doubts by voicing their questions, understanding their perspective is limited, remembering how Jesus has transformed their lives, and considering why they followed Jesus in the first place. We meet each Wednesday in April!
Sundays, 9:30-10:30am Our April theme is Learning to Share Grace—Giving Away Your Faith. After exploring their own faith, youth can use this unit to discover endless ways to share that faith with others. Each session asks youth a new question about their relationship with Christ and others— What am I saying? What do I hear? What am I learning? What am I doing? — while Gospel texts provide powerful examples of Christ’s love and guidance. We won’t meet on April 29 due to Mission JC.

Festival of Faith April 20-21, 2018
South School is having a Spring Fling on Friday, May 4, from 5:30-7:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers for set-up from 5:00-5:30, working a game/concessions from 5:30-6:15 OR 6:15-7:00, and clean-up from 7:00-7:30. Contact the church office at mary@fbcjc.org or 573.634.3603 to volunteer.
Why learn about other religions? To help make our world, our community, and ourselves better. The Festival begins Friday night with a special concert. Then come on Saturday to hear from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim speakers on what they love about their faiths, and how we can learn from each other.
