MUSIC MINISTRY What a thrill it is to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus together each year! Thank you to all of you who worked so diligently to make our expression of worship a powerful and meaningful time that, we pray, was pleasing to God and was used by His Spirit to minister and draw hearts to Himself. May we ALWAYS abide in the victory and abundant life that He paid such high a price to afford us and strive to share it with others!
God & Country Sunday ONE SERVICE Sunday, June 30 @ 11:00am We would love for you to join us in Worship Choir this summer as we prepare to share a special presentation on June 30th as a part of our God and Country Sunday. Contact me if you have any questions – ccovin@fbc-brenham.org Charles Covin
PIECE MAKERS
One of the ministries of Piece Makers is supplying some Brenham police officers with Trunk Quilts. Officer Ashley Burns received several fleece quilts to keep in her patrol car to use as the need arises. Piece Makers meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month in the FBC Student Center from 9 am until 4 pm. All are welcome. No sewing experience required.

A LETTER FROM REBA Dear Friends, As I sit down to write today I am a “HER CHILDREN RISE testimony to God’s faithfulness. Last UP AND BLESS HER; night I asked for prayer for my first HER HUSBAND ALSO, therapy session today for my new HE PRAISES HER SAYING: knee. At my beginning evaluation I MANY DAUGHTERS HAVE could only bend my knee 65° a 30° DONE NOBALY, BUT YOU drop from the last knee. That was last EXCEL THEM ALL.” Thursday. I was really feeling down PROVERBS 31:28-20 until we got started this morning. As my knee started bending it just kept going and stopped at 85° right on target for 90° next week at my first appointment. I have to ask myself why do I let the devil in on my life when I get weak. Just look to God in all things and He is always there if we but look and ask Him to join us. I am thankful for my mother and grandmothers who showed me the way to God. Happy Mothers Day to all of our mothers and grandmothers. Don’t forget to share God’s love with those loved ones! Blessings, Reba Pair
MOTHER’S DAY OUT May is upon us and school is almost out. Our enrollment for the 2019-20 school year is going on now and we have already have our Four’s Class full. What a blessing! We still have openings in our other classes including wee twos, twos and threes classes. We had a great turnout for our Chili’s Fundraiser. Thank you to all that ate out that night to support our ministry. This month at MDO, the students are learning about how much Jesus loves children and how his love is FOREVER!! The threes/fours classes are taking a field trip to the movies and Blue Bell on May 2 and we will have water day on May 7. We will celebrate moms on May 9 and our last day of school is May 16 with pizza day and noon dismissal.
STUDENT MINISTRY It is May again and that means SUMMER is here… weeeeeell not just yet. We’ve still got some things to do in the Student Ministry before summer arrives. Graduate Sunday will be on May 5, 2019. We will be doing something a little different this year to honor our High School Seniors. Students will still be recognized during the worship service and you’ll still get to enjoy a video, but we are hosting a banquet in their honor in the gym. Graduating seniors and their parents are invited to this event as we celebrate this wonderful milestone. Please be praying for all our graduates and their families as they head into this exciting and busy time in their lives. The month of May also brings one of my favorite times to spend with our Senior Adults. Senior Adult VBS will be in the mornings on May 28-30, 2019. I look forward to doing crafts, hearing stories, singing, and eating…I Love Eating. I hope all you Senior Adults out there who always says you enjoy reading my newsletter will be there. Mark your calendars now and don’t miss out. Lastly, please be in prayer for our students as we prepare for Summer Camp. We will be heading out June 7-11, 2019 to Waco again and I am excited to see what the Lord is going to do in each one of our student’s lives. A week away from home dedicated to worship, Bible study, and discipleship can often play a large part of a student’s spiritual life, both now and years to come. BRING ON SUMMER!! Bro. Chad

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY “She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said.” Luke 10:39 (HCSB) Good Morning, Do you know where you were fifteen years ago? Had you made it to Brenham yet? Were you in High School? Had you just married your spouse? Were you pregnant with your firstborn? Were you born yet or celebrating your 60th birthday? I was beginning a new venture, in a new land with my young wife, two oldest sons and expecting our third shortly. We officially hatched into the Brenham’s FBC family April 11, 2004. It was an Easter Sunday, and my first official duties began off-campus at Brenham High School. A lot has happened in those short fifteen years; however, it seems almost a lifetime ago. Now with 3 more children in our nest, we are more invested in the Brenham community, and First Baptist has become our home, and not just a place where I work. In that time, we have lived in four different homes, I started and completed seminary (hopefully), sent our oldest off to college and adopted a daughter from Colombia. We have seen friends come, …and go. We have laughed with some and cried through tough times. Overall, it has been a Volunteers who want to work in VBS can sign up online today. wonderful time of service here at Brenham’s FBC. We feel so privileged that God chose us to serve here. Thank you for your patience as “but those who hope in the Lord I grew in this ministry and will renew their strength. They for the honor to serve your kids.

FBC SCHOOL & EEC Our theme for school was Incredible Faith this year. We’ve talked about what faith looks like and how God honors it. Faith is something I continue to grow in my own life. May our students do the same! This month for missions, we will be raising funds for Go Drill. Students will be learning about the Placke family and how they had faith in God’s calling to serve others in Tanzania. Although our school year is coming to a close, it doesn’t mean we are slowing down! We have a full summer of activities for our Early Education Center. If you have a special talent you would be willing to share, please let me know. Plans for the 2019-2020 school year are currently underway. Please pray for discernment as we continue to prepare for next year. Please be in prayer for the families and staff members God is calling to FBCS for next year. Thank you for sharing information about this ministry to people you know or meet. We are ready to welcome them with open arms!
Thank you to our amazing school staff! They have served this FBC ministry well this year!

FROM TROY’S HEART
A few weeks ago, we hosted some dear friends from Houston at our home. We served on staff with them at Park Place Baptist Church in Southeast Houston from 1987-1993. That area of Houston has been an area of demographic change for a long time! In our six years of student ministry at Park Place, we slowly watched the church grapple with a changing community. We urged church leaders to make changes to adapt to the new cultures surrounding the church. Reluctantly, church leadership turned more inward instead of embracing new relationships.
During our visit, we talked about those early ministry days and it reminded me of a story I heard about regarding the Painted Churches in the Schulenburg area. These churches are beautiful and visited by thousands of tourists each year. The story goes that each small town in the Schulenburg area was faced with a decision on whether to allow the railroad to pass through their town. Several of the small communities decided to prohibit the railroad from passing through due to the volume of strangers it would bring. The result of that decision over time brought decline to each community. They could have chosen the vitality of new people, but instead they saw strangers. They enjoyed the comfort of the visible and known over the uneasiness of the new. Each day, as followers of Jesus and members of His church, we face the same decision those small towns faced, will we open up our arms and hearts to new people? Will we take a step to become friends with the people we meet? If we do, I believe our lives become places of vitality and growth. Pray. Look around. God will put someone new on your path. Make a friend. Listen to their story. Do nice things for them. Tell them your Jesus story. It will grow your life, theirs too. I Love you, Troy
