FROM PASTOR ROSS Summer is a time when lots of activities slow down. For churches, though, summer is a time when everything picks up! We have a full summer planned! Here are some things happening this summer: -Vacation Bible School: June 3rd – 7th 4th – 7th -Youth Camp: June 8th – June 12th -5th and 6th Grade Mission Trip to Longview: June 10th – 15th -A special God and Country Service at 10am on July 1st - Kids Camp: July 9th – 13th -Honduras Mission Trip: July 25th – August 2nd It is important for you to know about these activities, even if you’re not involved in them, so that you can pray:

-Pray for each of these events. Pray that people will come to know Christ for the first time or renew their faith. -Pray for the pastors leading these events. -Pray for the volunteers who will be helping and sacrificially giving their time. -Pray for travel safety. -Pray for God to be glorified!

While praying is the most important way you can support these events, there are two other ways to support these summer activities. You can, firstly, support them by volunteering or participating in the activities. We are grateful for everyone who serves the Lord by volunteering in these different activities. Second, you can remember to financially support the church. Summer is a time when not only do activities increase but so do expenses. Your faithful and consistent giving enables us to make it through summer financially. Here’s what’s so neat about everything. Even if you are unable to attend or volunteer in any of these events, you are still a part of them. You are a part of them by praying, giving, and being supportive. You are investing in kingdom activities that will impact children, teenagers, and the lives people in places like Longview and Honduras. Thank you for all the ways you support the church and enable us to do all that God has called us to do! 5

SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

It’s not saying, “I’ll give it everything I’ve got, and the Lord will bless it, But rather the Lord saying to you, “You just bless my name and I’ll give it everything I’ve have.” That’s the hidden power in praise--Jack Hayford Worship is a choice we make, whether we praise God is an act of our own will. What is our first reaction to things that happen to us or don’t happen to us? If we don’t make praise and thanks a way of life to us, we will never experience all that God has for us. Psalm 13:3 says, “I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise and I am saved from my enemies..” Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall praise Him.” The power of praise can only be found when you personally start giving God the praise, worship, and glory, He is worthy of and deserves. Father God, We praise You Holy Name. I will exalt You, my God and King. I will praise You name forever and ever. Everyday I will praise You and extol Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of Praise. We thank You for BFBC and our awesome pastor, Ross Shelton and for all of his staff. Father, bless them today with smiles and laughter. Give each of them the strength, energy, wisdom, and knowledge they need to do their jobs. May they be showered with blessings. Let every creature praise His Holy Name forever and ever! In Jesus’ name. Come join us, Sweet Hour of Prayer, every Thursday, 10:00am to 11:00am. Worship, pray, and praise and thank the Lord with us. 8

A LETTER FROM REBA Today as I write I have so many things rushing through my head. The one thing is THOUGHT how fast this year is passing by. Our biggest OF THE MONTH: thing right now is the high school graduation of our grandson Tyler who so many of you PRAYER IS THE KEY TO have prayed for through the years. We never HEAVEN, BUT FAITH took for granted that he would make it to graduation because of his health and the UNLOCKS THE DOOR. terrible disease called Epilepsy. We were wrong to not have the faith that he would, but I am here to tell you our God is faithful in all things. Even if it is “please don’t let him have a seizure in the pool today as I sat and watched as his eyes In the water.” The last three weeks we have been to many award ceremonies for our grandchildren. Last night I must say was so special to us as we saw two of our grandchildren get awards at the Brenham Sports Banquet. One we knew about, but we did not know that Tyler was going to be awarded the coaches award. He was totally surprised that he won any award. I say that to say this when we are faithful to our calling we will be blessed by God . He has been so faithful to watch over and care for all of us when we are going through rough times, whether it was our own health or our family’s health. The choir has done a song called “Find Us Faithful” which has such great lyrics to encourage us daily. Find Us Faithful lyrics by Steve Green. “We’re pilgrims on the journey of the narrow road and those who’ve gone before us line the way cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary. Their lives a stirring testament to God’s sustaining grace. Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses. Let us run the race not only for the prize, but as those who’ve gone before us let us leave to those behind us the Heritage of faithfulness passed n through godly lives.” May God find us faithful in all we do here. In closing let me wish all of our Fathers a Happy Fathers Day! I am so thankful to have been raised by a faithful Christian dad and mom. Reba Pair

STUDENT MINISTRY Three… Two…One… Blast off! Summer is here and don’t blink because it will be over before you know it! Are you wondering how you can pray for the Student Ministry this summer? Here are a few ideas: •Right off the bat is WiRED Summer Camp: June 8th – 12th. This year we’re staying a little closer to home in the good old state of Texas and traveling just a little north of us outside of Waco. Our students will be joining up with other churches here in Texas for WiRED camp at Latham Springs encampment. This is our first year to go to this camp, but it’s modeled after FUGE Camp. Please be in prayer for our students and adults going. Please pray that God would move in their hearts and lives. We know that students’ lives can be changed anywhere God desires to touch them. But sometimes, when students are surrounded by recreation, Bible study, and worship every night, and they are out of their comfort zone, they tend to not rely on their own abilities, and that’s when God chooses to knock on their hearts. •At the end of July, 5 students and 7 adults will be traveling to Honduras. I am so excited for what God has for each one of us on this trip. Please be in prayer for our team as we distribute beans and rice and begin to start spiritual conversations. Pray that God would give us the right words and open our eyes and heart to what we will see hear, and come in contact with. Pray that many would come to know Christ and our lives would be changed in the process.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Good Morning, Eli, Samuel, David, Noah, Jacob, and Isaac. What do all of these Biblical characters have in common? A Huge THANK YOU to Silverwings Skating Yes, they are all in the Old Testament - and that is not the name of a rock band. Two were fathers of Rink for their generous Israel, one a boat builder, one a king and two were donations provided for the door prize at our priests of the Most High God. However, they all second Kids Klub had in common the fact that they were fathers. To Xtreme in April. go even further about their similarity, they were fathers whose children did not turn out as they had planned. I am certain that they had great plans for their sons as they held them for the first time. When they looked into the eyes of their children for the first time, they may have seen things like priest, king, carpenter, scholar, man of God. However, I don’t think they saw things like deceiver, thief, murderer, liar, reviler and enemy of God. When our children are born we have very high hopes for their lives. We are so excited to have been blessed with such a fantastic work of God who has been fearfully and wonderfully made. Yet, at the same time, we are scared to death that we might break them or mislead them or not be good enough to raise them the right way. Nonetheless, we put our fears aside, pray even more fervently and look for advice anywhere we can find it as we endeavor to teach our children how to live rightly. Some of us hope to train up our children according to God’s ways but don’t want to beat them over the head with the Bible because we don’t want them to resent God out of our inadequacies to teach His word. We have such great plans, and some of us execute them brilliantly, but still sometimes our kids get lost in the muck of this broken world. What did we do wrong? I am sure these Biblical dads asked the same question. Since their story is in God’s word, we know the answer to some of their stories. Others we have to read between the lines. However, my point is that we are not alone and the problems you are experiencing with your kids are not new. Some of them are probably as old as the Bible. Samuel was born dedicated to God and from his youth grew up in the church doing God’s work, and, yet, his sons decided to revile God instead of loving Him. As parents we can only train up our children in the way they should go, and pray that when they are old they will not depart from it loose (translation of Prov. 22:6). Trust God and follow Him as He shows you how a Father raises His children. His Servant & Yours, Bro. Alex

PRESCHOOL MINISTRIES

Have you ever used a compass to show you which way to go? This month we are going to take a ride on our bikes and trikes as we use this theme to teach our little ones that, much like a compass, the Bible tells us which way to go. How wonderful would it be, if our preschoolers grew up using the Bible as their compass, as they ride through life?

We will kick off the month in Psalm 119 as we introduce the bottom line that the Bible shows us the way to go. Week 2 we will begin teaching some of the specific things the Bible tells us to do, like how a compass tells us to go this way or that way. John 13 tells us to love one another. Loving others is always the right way to go. Week three Jeremiah 29 tells us that we can always talk to God. We want our little ones to know that no matter where they are headed they can always talk to God about it. We will wrap up the month with Acts 2 learning about how the Bible tells us to share our stuff. Sharing is not always an easy road to ride on, but it is always the right way to go. We are going to have a fun trip in the months of June and July. I cannot wait to take this ride with our preschoolers. Whenever we don’t know which way to go, we can look to the Bible to show us the way. Blessings, Stacey

Sunday Mornings in June Basic Truth: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Key Question: Who tells you which way to go? Bottom Line: The Bible tells me which way to go. Memory Verse: “Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.” Psalm 25:4

FBC SCHOOL & EEC Summer is here, but FBCS is as busy as ever! Our EEC continues in the sumThank you mer months, and our school office is open. This summer will be one of to our preschool and transitions. Debbie Patranella is retiring in July after 19 years of service to children’s ministries FBCS. We will miss her smiling face and sweet spirit in the office. As usual, for working with the God has wonderful plans for her as well as FBCS. Kelley Sikes will be joinschool to spread ing our office staff in July. I’m so thankful that He has it all worked out. We His love! are looking for a few other people for various positions. He has that worked out, too, we just don’t know who it will be yet. Please pray for us as we look for His chosen people for these spots! Blessings, Nancy Jahns P.S. Last month, our mission focus was GoDrill. Through candy, soda, pickle, and snow cone sales, we were able to raise $968.96. We give Him the glory! May this be a blessing to the people of Tanzania.

We recently awarded scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. A need usually arises after we give out tuition assistance. Would you please consider making a donation to the scholarship fund? It would help us meet future needs.

Thank you!

FROM TROY’S HEART Summer is now upon us! Kids are out of school and likely are already “bored with nothing to do.” Vacations and trips to the pool are on the horizon. Plus, electricity bills are going through the roof due to the air conditioner running 24/7. With the onset of summer, the busyness of our ministry calendar picks up. For example, over the next 8 weeks, we will be involved in: • Sr. Adult Vacation Bible School • Vacation Bible School • Student Summer Camp • Father’s Day Celebration ( I am preaching and there will be a surprise for kids & dads!) • 5th & 6th Grade Mission Trip • Pre-teen camp • God and Country Sunday • Honduras Mission Trip As you can see, we will not be bored around here! If you would like to help us with any of the activities listed above, I bet we can find a spot for you. Call the church office at 979-836-2807. Another reminder about the busyness of summer: plan some time to simply enjoy your relationship with God! Spending each day with Him brings a refreshment to our soul. Who doesn’t need that? I Love you, Troy
