Sympathies -Blevins family in the loss of Flo Blevins.
P.S. I have included two pictures on this page. One is of the dirt work happening on the property. The other one is of our church sign we put up on the property. Thank you to some of our deacons (Doug Collins, Medick Antolin, Gregg Appel, Doug Baker, and Pat Mulligan) and one of our college students (Sam Workman) for putting up our sign on our relocation property!
From Pastor Ross
When we began our capital campaign for the first phase of our relocation in 2017, we discerned that we should call our capital campaign, “Faith Building. The idea being that we are doing more than just building a facility during this season, we are asking God to build our faith. That is, we wanted the process of constructing the buildings to be a testimony to God as we grew in our faith. No one could have imagined that part of this faith building journey would entail a global pandemic. Nevertheless, here we are beginning construction in the middle of this challenging season for our world. As I look at the dirt being moved on our relocation property, my prayer now is not only will this be a testimony of faith but will also include a testimony of hope. Therefore, while we are beginning our construction during a challenging season, we are also building with assurance of hope that God has much in store for us on the other side of this season. I pray that this building will be an encouragement to you and to our community that better days are ahead, and we can put our hope in God!
A Letter From Reba During these times of unrest and illness in our country we must ask our selves how do each affect us in our own lives? We must be careful and do what we can to help stop this virus. I realize this will be different for each individual and we should support our friends in what ever their choice is. We are choosing to stay in mostly on the illness front since we have underlying health issues, but I must say it gets harder as the days go by. On those days we go take a ride to clear our minds and see what may be going around in town. One thing I have thought a lot about during the last four months is FAITH. The first hymn I learned to play on the piano as a small child was a familiar old hymn My Faith Looks Up to Thee by Ray Palmer and Lowell Mason. I tried to pick out a verse that is appropriate for our time, and they are all appropriate, but I really like verse 2 and 3 for what we are living through right now. My hope and prayer is that we never lose our faith during these hard times. If you need to talk to someone get on the phone and call. Feel free to call me if you just want to talk, because I am pretty much at home all the time. We are in the phone book, and the only Pair listing so we are easy to find. I pray that we can all be together soon. We all need to support and appreciate our ministers as they keep things going as they are able. Please let someone know if you need anything. Call the church office, a friend, or call me and I will help you get whatever you need. Blessings, Reba Pair

From Troy's Heart
What are you passing along to the next generation? The other day, I was talking to Teresa McGlasson, our Office Manager, about some of my “Mamaw Sayings” that were passed down to me from my grandmother(Mamaw). Since, she pretty much raised me and my brother while my mom & dad worked, we heard these phrases over and over: ·Running to beat the band. ·Tighter than Dick’s hatband. ·Shoot the liquor to me Joe boy. ·Same ol’ seven & six. ·Might as well, can’t dance. ·Raining pitchforks and hammerheads. And, there are several more that aren’t appropriate for the church newsletter, if you know what I mean? As I explained some of these to Teresa, we laughed and questioned the origins of some of these phrases, but walking away from the conversation, the thought came to me, “What will I pass on to the next generation?” Now that Kelley and I are counting the months until grandparenthood, what will our grandkids say about us 50 years from now? Will we leave a positive legacy that brings joy, laughter and purpose? Over and over in the Bible, the passing of generations is marked and noted. Some people left positive impressions that carried over for generations. Conversely, some people are forever marked for their poor choices or evil deeds. We have a choice as to what we leave behind and I have made up my mind that I will be a “Mamaw”(not literally), someone who serves and brings joy. I love you, Troy
Small Groups, Big News The Reopening of Sunday Bible Study, the Sequel is coming!! To coincide with Promotion Sunday, we will make Sunday Bible Studies available on campus, August 23rd. Prayerfully, we are getting rooms ready and distributing teaching material to adults, students, children and preschool leaders. As a reminder, to ensure enough “distancing space” we need to adjust class locations and to fit the Bible Studies within our Sunday morning schedules, we need to have two time slots, 8:55am & 10:35am. However, please understand, there are still some classes that are not able to meet at this time due to the health status of leaders or members. If you are unsure about whether your class will be meeting on campus, check with your class leadership or call the church office, 836-2807. Be looking for an email soon regarding class locations and times. Also, pray that the spread of the Corona Virus will decrease to allow the resumption of more church activities.

Piece Makers One of the objectives of Piece Makers is to make the best use of the materials we receive. Upholstery and heavier weight fabrics are made into pet pillows. These pillows are stuffed with fabric and batting scraps we save from our many sewing and quilting projects. The soft and comfortable pet beds we make are donated to Brenham’s Pet Adoption Center and given with each dog or cat that finds a new home.

Student Ministry Happy Summer to you! I hope you’ve found ways to enjoy the outdoors and have been able to celebrate events over the summer. You may recall at the beginning of the school year, the students began a Service and Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.). Our goals for the year included consistent attendance to worship events, providing mission and service opportunities, and leading out in the youth group. Students who met the criteria were invited to attend our S.A.L.T. retreat this 4th of July weekend. We had 13 students and 5 adults load up for the quick drive down to Surfside Beach where we spent a few days playing in the sand and surf. We had a blast! After serving this year in ministry the trip was all about reward and relaxation. We rode boogie boards in the waves, made sand castles on the beach, fished in the ocean (I caught a shark!), hunted and ran hysterically from crabs in the sand, and soaked up lots of sun. In fact, I’m still red from all the sun I got. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Dave and Kacy Kuespert who braved the beach with us and a houseful of teenagers. You guys are the best. Kacy and Dave truly made the beach so much fun for us! And all their hard work allowed Bobbye and me to also relax. And thank you to my wife, Bobbye, who I would not want to do ministry without. You truly complete me in all areas and I thank God for placing us together not only in life, but also in serving the Lord. Here are a few pictures from the weekend. I hope you enjoy! In Him, Bro. Chad

“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:5
School days are just around the corner! Our first day of class will be August 24. At this time, we are planning to have in-person classes. We are tweaking routines and procedures to try to maintain health safety. In the days to come, we will be preparing classrooms and hearts for our students. We are so fortunate to be able to partner with the church in this mission. Please pray for the staff as they prepare for the kids. Pray for the families and children we serve, and that their hearts will be changed for eternity. We continue to strive to serve the Lord with all that with do! Our theme this year is God is Greater than the Highs and Lows. The last several months have been one for the records. We have all had experience with highs and lows this year, but God is still greater!
It’s not too late to enroll for the 2020-2021 school year!
We are still accepting enrollment for next year. We have limited availability in some of our preschool and elementary classes. Prospects may call for more information. Please help spread the word about this opportunity to join the FBCS & EEC family. In His Service, Nancy

Children's Ministry “The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.” (Psalm 118:24, NIV) Good Morning, Can I be open and honest with you? Good. Today, as I am writing this, I am not supposed to be writing this. Instead, today, July 6, I am supposed to be conducting check-in and starting our five days, four nights stay at Camp Tejas. The honest part of my earlier question is that I am bummed. The open part of the question is we tried REALLY hard to go to camp. When Corona changed the playing field, we went back to the drawing board and came up with a new game plan. When we encountered COVID turbulence we adjusted our flight plan. Then, within 11 days from go-time, we had to pull the plug after deciding the risk was too high, only to receive news the next day that Camp Tejas had been affected by COVID-19 and were forced to close their doors for two weeks. Even if we had decided to push forward, Corona shut us down. I am bummed. Then, I read Psalm 118:24 (see above) and God re-centers me. I am to rejoice in the day the Lord has made. Which day? This day - Today. I am to be glad in it. The COVID-19 pandemic did not catch God by surprise. Our VBS turning into a Take Home VBS and then having to be postponed did not put God off-guard. Camp Tejas being cancelled was on God’s radar. He knew about this all. We also need to remember that whether the Corona Virus had come to the US or not, God hasn’t changed one bit. So, if I should rejoice always (Phil. 4:4), then I need to be glad in the days God makes that allow me to go to camp, and also in the days that I have to sit in my living room to watch the weekly worship service from my TV. Still, today, I am bummed. Then, I realize I need to make a choice. Now, may I challenge you? I recognize today is the day the Lord has made. I will choose to rejoice and be glad in it. Will you accept the challenge to do the same? ReStarting Sunday school: Meeting only in small His Servant & Yours, groups. Check-In/Pick-up will be by the staircase in Bro. Alex the gym.
This Month’s Big Idea: Faith – Trusting in what you can’t see because of what you can see. Weekly Bottom Lines: 1. There’s no limit to God’s creativity. (Genesis 1:2-3) 2. God created you, so you can be creative. (Eph 2:10). 3. God created you for a purpose. (Esther) 4. God created you to work with others. (Mark 2:1-12). ) 5. God created you to share His story. (Matt. 5:13-16).
