Letter from the Head of School As FBCA continually strives to be the number one destination for excellence in college-preparatory Christian education, the 2018-2019 school year brought an impressive myriad of achievements and successes. Our students’ remarkable accomplishments in academics, arts and athletics reflect the values of our mission. Our commitment as faculty and staff remains to be difference makers - to live out and exemplify FBCA’s Mission so that we meet the spiritual, academic, personal, social and emotional needs of each student. In so many different ways, FBCA is preparing students to make a difference in our world through all aspects of their lives. Our students’ exemplary academic accomplishments are among the premier independent schools in our nation. Our dedicated faculty continuously challenge students in each division to advance their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Consequently, we have experienced notable achievements, ranging from impressive college acceptances to scholarship awards to National Merit recognition. Students in both Lower and Middle Schools competed successfully at the state level in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association. These accomplishments substantiate FBCA as a distinguished educational program that promotes high academic expectations and deepens enrichment opportunities for our students. In addition, FBCA continues to experience momentous advancement in many other areas around campus. FBCA’s visual and performing arts and athletic programs continue to earn acclaim with district and state championship awards. Over the past year, FBCA has undergone a comprehensive review of our curriculum alignment, enhancing many subject areas in all divisions with the rigor and curricular expectations of an independent school. FBCA also added a research-based STEAM curriculum to our Lower and Middle School programs, helping students to advance their critical thinking skills through inquiry-based instruction where they engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate within the context of problem-based learning and discovery. The curriculum is delivered by trained teachers in specially designed STEAM labs that fully enable our students to engage in creative and innovative learning that stretches beyond the normal classroom experience. Throughout all divisions, you will find new curricular offerings, new windscreens on all of the athletic fields, new furniture in the Upper School Eagle Café, and new graphics in the hallways. Each of these enhancements have directly improved our educational program and the student experience at FBCA. As you read this detailed report, you will see the tangible results for your gifts to FBCA. What we are able to do as a Christian independent school is always directly related to your generosity and support. FBCA is committed to a superior academic experience centered on a Christian approach to learning and will continue to challenge our students to think more deeply about subject matter, to explore and invest in their God-given interests and abilities, and to develop into mature Christian scholars. I encourage you to intently read this Annual Review and prayerfully consider how you can partner with FBCA. Letter from the Board President As we reflect upon the accomplishments experienced by Fort Bend Christian Academy last school year, it is easy to see that “extraordinary things happen here.” I continue to be amazed by the commitment and dedication of so many as we see FBCA continue to grow and advance in the fulfillment of our mission. Each day brings new excitement as we observe God’s continued blessing on our students, our families, our faculty, staff and administration. This Annual Review is designed to give you a sense of where we have been. I would like to share with you where we are moving with God’s leadership and your prayerful support. The Board of Trustees continues to focus on our Strategic Plan and its alignment with our mission. The objective is to be the number one destination for excellence in college-preparatory Christian education within the region. In designing the plan, we focused on seven pillars that each play a priority role in defining and shaping the future of FBCA. These pillars include: • • • • • • •
Academics and co-curricular Branding and marketing Faculty and staff Financial Sustainability Infrastructure Stakeholder Engagement Student Profile
As a Board, we have designed and are utilizing a planning worksheet to measure the progress and refine the necessary strategies to fulfill the Strategic Plan. We are excited to see the implementation of our strategies as they move FBCA forward in the fulfillment of these goals. As we implement the plan, we are focusing not only on the current needs of FBCA but also planning for the future. We are experiencing the creation of a distinguished school culture that broadens and deepens opportunities for spiritual growth, promotes high academic expectations, extracurricular involvement and meets the social, emotional and physical needs of each student. Currently, steps are being taken at the Board level to determine and define the optimal utilization of the school’s thirty-five (35) acre campus. Consideration is being given to athletic facilities and improving these facilities. Deliberate and intentional planning is being provided to foster continuous faculty and staff improvement by increasing professional growth and development opportunities. Faculty and administration have been engaged in professional development at levels that we have not previously experienced at FBCA. Beyond the spiritual and academic excellence necessary for FBCA, financial sustainability is critical to the viability of our school. Thanks to the generosity of the entire FBCA family, our annual fund and percentage contributions exceeds past years’ contributions for this point in the academic year. Thank you for your continued trust in the Board of Trustees. We are dedicated to fulfilling FBCA’s mission and vision. I encourage you to study the Annual Review and continue to prayerfully support FBCA as we prepare our students to believe, achieve and lead. We are encouraged by the accomplishments we have seen thus far and are excited about the plans God has for FBCA.

On February 12, 2019, Fort Bend Christian Academy hosted its first Distinguished Speaker Luncheon & Auction at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. More than 300 guests enjoyed an inspiring keynote about overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by Lou Holtz, Legendary Football Coach and ESPN Analyst. Committee members included Heather Brown, Sam Easley, Katie Harris, Tiffany Harris, Leah Henley, Kim Heston, Tracy Pipes, Adriana Polasek and Tiffany Tyler.
