‘AMERICA STRONG’ IN FAYETTEVILLE In a show of national solidarity, the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the “Blue Angels”, and the Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the “Thunderbirds”, conducted several flyovers of American cities. As part of the Atlanta flyover, these squadrons flew over Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville to say “thanks” to healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential workers.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Continued preparation on Alcohol Ordinance amendments for upcoming City Council review; participated in gym and bus barn architectural design meeting.

Main Street: Working with artist agents on adjustments to 2020 concert schedule due to continuing restrictions; published updated 2020 Events Calendar; met with project manager on Amphitheater maintenance and future improvements planning; annual departmental budget preparation with staff.

Downtown Development Authority: Site visit with prospect for 195 Stonewall Avenue property.

COVID-19 COMMUNITY DISCOURSE Residents continued sharing opinions about the statewide reopening of businesses after Governor Brian Kemp ordered that more may reopen, while he also ordered that shelter-in-place restrictions be lifted for residents under 65 years of age. The Governor’s executive orders and other guidance can be found at www.gov.Georgia.gov. Many residents showed interest in the “America Strong” flyover, which included the airspace over Piedmont Fayette Hospital on Saturday, May 2.

POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY Coronavirus response: ¡ The Police Department continues to practice social distancing. Plans are under way to bring full-time staff back into the building and reopening to the public on May 18. ¡ Please continue to follow social distancing guidelines while in public. It is up to all of us to keep safe as we transition back from the Shelter-in-Place Order. ¡ Please make sure you are throwing your used masks and gloves into trash receptacles and not on the ground. We continue seeing increased littering in the area. ¡ We are investigating the shooting death of a male on Habersham Drive. At this time, the Police Department does not anticipate filing any criminal charges in this case.

FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events: Tower 91 displayed the American Flag at Piedmont Fayette Hospital on Saturday, May 2, during the “America Strong” flyover by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. We continue to place weekly orders for personal protective equipment (PPE) with several private vendors, as the State of Georgia’s medical cache continues to be critically low and filling only emergency requests at this time. Shifts received monthly packet for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training.

Projects: Deputy Chief Linda Black attended various COVID-19 webinars throughout the week with officials from the Georgia Department of Public Health. Chief Black and Captain Josh Collins continue to work with our medical director Dr. Chris Edens, Fayette County and the State with up-to-date COVID-19 information. Fire Chief Alan Jones and Chief Black attended a departmental budget meeting with City Manager Ray Gibson and Deputy Finance Director Carleetha Talmadge. Chief Jones worked on the upcoming budget. Chief Jones attended a meeting to review the Pinewood Forest Development Agreement proposed amendments. Personnel have been cleaning and sanitizing selfcontained breathing apparatus masks and regulators on a daily basis. Division Chief Jeff Gable continues to update the COVID-19 Incident Action Plan. Installation has begun for the new Kenwood mobile radios.

PUBLIC SERVICES CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cleaned City Hall and Police Department; cut and maintained cart path and outskirts of the park, shop area, Grady Avenue, Bradford Square, middle medians on West Lanier Avenue from Grady Avenue to Meeting Place, Stonewall Avenue from Melissa Segars Way to North Jeff Davis Drive, Train Depot area, Tiger Trail, portion of the City Cemetery, Gingercake Road, the retention area behind 315 Emily Park, Summit Point right of way, and the left side of the Amphitheater. Limbs were cut back on the Bradley Drive right of way and on Lauren Street. Potholes were repaired on Veterans Parkway.

Stormwater: Repaired stormwater erosion at 175 Stratford Way, and the stormwater pipe on Cornwallis Way. Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.163 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.

Water: Average daily flow of 1.513 million gallons of system demand; repaired three water leaks; performed maintenance on 11 water meters; maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.

HUMAN RESOURCES NELLA COOPER

Personnel: Continuing with the implementation of the Performance Management and Performance Appraisals platform on ClearCompany; requested to bind coverage for the May 1 renewals; the main focus has been on COVID-19 and Federal and State requirements as it relates to City employees; continuing to participate in various COVID-19 webcasts in order to remain in compliance; maintaining spreadsheet to track potential City employee pandemic cases; requesting proper leave forms from personnel out of work due to COVID-19.
