The Finance Department was honored again by the Government Finance Officers Association with the Distinguished Budget Preparation Award.

Develop the Economic Opportunity:

Held a meeting with the Communications Team to discuss the New City Hall & City Center Park ribbon cutting event and other communication-related items.

Held a meeting with Community & Economic Development staff to discuss the Highway 85 Corridor study.

Held a meeting with Steve Mauro from Comprehensive Program Services to discuss the new City Hall & City Center Park punch list.

Held a phone conference with Jenine Kilgore from Gallery Services to discuss art options for the new City Hall building.

Held a phone conference with Amy Bell and Katy Lucas from Goodwyn Mills Cawood to discuss furniture issues/additions.

Held a project update meeting with Steve Mauro regarding the new City Hall & City Center Park.

Met with Piedmont Fayette Hospital’s COO Nathan Nipper, who had a tour of the new City Hall & City Center Park.

Held the weekly Management Team meeting.

Held a meeting with Jennifer Young from United Way to discuss the management options for the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

Worked on the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget and the American Rescue Plan Act funding presentations for the June 24 called meeting.

Developed correspondence and responded to various items for numerous City-related projects.

Participated in the monthly Leadergov Cohort leadership training with the City of Indianola, Mississippi.

Held a meeting with various staff to discuss the janitorial services RFP for City Hall and the Police Department.

Attended the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Attended a charity event for Scott Mentorship.

Checked on various citizen complaints throughout the week having to do with code enforcement-related matters.

Attended the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) community meeting.

CITY CLERK’S OFFICE ANNE BARKSDALE Meetings: Attended the Management Team meeting 6/14; met with the clothing representative to order City-branded shirts; attended the monthly Leadership Cohort online meeting with the City of Indianola, Mississippi; attended the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Projects: Scheduled the June 18 ribbon cutting ceremony for Best Seafood Direct; scheduled Shred-It for continued purging of records; scheduled the public notice for the called City Council meeting on June 24.

FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events - Battalion Chief Chris Peacock, Captain Josh Collins, Lieutenant Mike Greene, Lieutenant Levi Hill, and Firefighter Charlie Perdue attended a one-day training session “Training Find Your Mission” instructed by Dr David Griffin and sponsored by the Coweta County Fire Department. Captain Collins and Captain Rick Swales attended a one-day hands on training session “Understanding and Fighting Basement Fires.” Our department participated all week in the annual “Stand Down for Firefighter Safety.”

Projects - Fire Chief Alan Jones participated in the monthly LeaderGov Cohort.

Chief Jones completed the final job interview with an offer for an open firefighter position. Continued working on the former Building Department area of the Fire Department Headquarters building for the office expansion project.

Daily cleaning and sanitizing of self-contained breathing apparatus mask and regulators continues.

POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY

▶ Monday, June 14 - Chief Scott Gray attended the weekly Management Team meeting. ▶ Wednesday, June 9 - Completed an interview with CBS 46 News about the BolaWrap devices. ▶ Thursday, June 10 - Drove with the City Manager to Locust Grove to observe their police department. Chief Gray attended a meeting at City Hall and met with Police Department personnel. ▶ Friday, June 11 - Completed the weekly review of divisions’ weekly reports.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: DDA meeting held June 16; continued marketing and scheduling efforts for the 2021 concerts; preparing for the second concert June 25; Don Felder concert pre-sale is going well; created signage and began promotions for the City Center Park Grand Opening July 17, the Fitness at the Park series beginning July 24, the Fire Truck Pull event at Fayette Pavilion July 31, and the Summer Events Calendar; finalizing details for the City Center Park grand opening event; met with local vendors including Roundtown, Yogi Juice Bar, local artists, and musicians to participate in future events.

PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cleaned City Hall and Police Department; cut and maintained City Cemetery, Stonewall Avenue from Tiger Trail to Bennett Street, west side of town Veterans Parkway to Sandy Creek Road, city limits to Gingercake Road, Hood Avenue, east side of town Jeff Davis to Knight Way, Church Street Park, Hood Avenue roundabout, cart path on Beauregard Boulevard and Redwine Road, Ramah Road, Beauregard Boulevard from the roundabout to Highway 85, North Highway 85, Bradley Drive, and Highway 92 South; completed the trash run at the parks and on the Courthouse Square; cleaned truck and the building.

Stormwater: Sidewalk repair and curbing repair on Grand Teton Circle.

Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.23 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.

Water: Average daily flow of 1.81 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired seven water main breaks; maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
