FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events - Training Division delivered a two-day course on Principles and Practices of Command.

Projects - Chief Alan Jones attended the following meetings: City Manager’s office to discuss the upcoming Microsoft Teams meeting with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division (EPD); Microsoft Teams meeting in the City Manager’s office with the EPD regarding a draft Groundwater Permit; multiple interviews with law firms to provide services with the City; final interview and employment offer for an open firefighter position. Chief Jones participated in the Fayetteville Leadership Podcast on teamwork, collaboration, and communication. Chief Jones, Deputy Chief Linda Black, Division Chief Keith Harris, and Division Chief Mike Matthews attended the Management Team Retreat; Chief Black and Captain Joshua Collins assisted the Georgia DPH and Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services with COVID-19 vaccinations.

Chief Black attended various webinars throughout the week with Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) officials and various other medical associations regarding COVID-19. Division Chief Keith Harris continued scheduling testing for potential firefighter candidates. Battalion Chief Jeff Gable updated the COVID-19 Incident Action Plan. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) mask and regulators continues. Tower 91 is out of service for repairs and remains at Ten-8 in Smyrna. Weekly COVID-19 report was completed and sent to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY ¡ Monday, March 1 - Chief Scott Gray attended the weekly Management Team meeting; Chief Gray assisted with a podcast at City Hall; Command Staff had the weekly meeting; department employees completed a Meals on Wheels route. ¡ Tuesday, March 2 - The Command Staff attended the Staff Retreat at City Hall; Chief Gray attended the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police District 10 meeting at the Riverdale Police Department. ¡ Wednesday, March 3 - Department employees assisted with traffic during the COVID-19 vaccinations at the old Station 4. ¡ Thursday, March 4 - The Office of Professional Standards tested two new candidates for possible hire; officers Turpin and Stewart started with the City. ¡ Friday, March 5 - Held a meeting on the new fiscal year budget.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPT. NELLA COOPER Personnel: We began working on the Performance Appraisal portion of the Performance Management System on the ClearCompany platform. We continue to focus on COVID-19 and federal and state requirements as they relate to City employees and on remaining compliant with mandates. We continue to maintain a case spreadsheet of potential pandemic cases involving City employees. We are requesting proper leave forms to be completed by employees that are out of work due to COVID-19 related absences. We continue to review and update various administrative policies for accuracy. We are now conducting a pay study survey for the Police, Fire, and Public Services divisions.

Turn Over Report: There were two new hires and no terminations during the period of March 1-7, 2021. There are 18 vacant positions: seven in Fire Services, three in Public Services, three in the Police Department, two in Community & Economic Development (one position on hold), two in Municipal Court, and one in Human Resources (on hold).

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Final bid package preparation and submittal for the hospital trail/bridge project with Fayette County and AECOM (City’s consultant) staff; met with Finance and Administrative Services Director Mike Bush and Fayette County Board of Education staff regarding downtown projects; discussion with Economic Development attorney Blake Sharpton regarding sale-leaseback procedures; met with Megan Baker of the Fayette County Development Authority to discuss retail center enhancements along the highway corridor; attended the Management Team Retreat at City Hall to refine 2021 departmental goals.

Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: Met with Brandon at FilmFly to review amphitheater website revisions; continued preparations for the 2021 concerts; reviewed the 2021 sponsor agreement with the City Attorney.

PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cleaned City Hall and Police Department; Completed the trash run (parks and rights of way) White Road and west side of town; cleaned the building and trucks; assisted City Hall with moving a desk and setting up for and participating in the Management Team retreat; Cleaned the roundabout on Hood Avenue; completed a work order to set the City Council Chambers back to the normal chairs layout; installed new signs and poles on White Road and Beauregard Boulevard; removed dead bushes in the median on Highway 314; cut and maintained the roundabouts on Hood Avenue and Kathi Avenue; Stonewall Avenue from Tiger Trail to Bennett Street, West Lanier Avenue from Bennett Street to Tiger Trail; the Weatherly Walk area between Knight Way and Rosewood Drive, the Highway 85 North median and right of way; the Habersham Drive right of way; and the first section of Hood Avenue.

Stormwater: Back-filled behind the sidewalk area on Clairmont Court, Mansfield Drive, and Biltmore Drive; repaired erosion and a hole around the catch basin at 250 Stratford Way; repaired the catch basin in front of the Car Wash on South Glynn Street.

Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.08 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.

Water: Average daily flow of 0.936 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired five water main breaks; performed maintenance on 83 water meters; maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
