Carl sod A nome del Comitato direttivo, ho tl piacere di presentare la relazione annuale sui lavori in atto al Veneto Club e su do che a stato realizzato nei 12 mesi trascorsi.

Sembra che, al termine di ogni anno, vi sia un tema dominante nella mia relazione, e doe l'impegno a lavorare ancora di piu, nonostante i grandi progressi gia fatti.

Spero che questa relazione vi aiuti a capire gli obiettivi raggiunti in questo cammino che facciamo insieme e a rafforzare i vostri legami con la grande famiglia del Veneto Club.

L'anno trascorso e stato segnato da una costante crescita, sia finanziatia che sociale, con un calendario fitto di eventi molto significativi.

Vorrei ancora sottolineare l'importanza delle celebrazioni del 40° anniversario della costruzione del Club. Tutti siamo stati partecipi di manifestazioni per ricordere questa data storica. Abbiamo fasteggiato in vane occasioni, e quella piu memorabile 0 stato it sontuoso pranzo dell'8 dicembre 2013, giomo d'anniversario dell'inaugurazione della sede.

Dal punto di vista finanziario abbiamo continuato a dare stability al Club.

Siamo anivati a ridurre del 16% H debito complecsivo, e cosi abbiamo potuto reinvestire in lavori per migliorare l'ambiente, le strutture e i progetti per i nostri sod e gli ospiti. Quest'opera di miglioramento proseguira nei prossimi 12 mesi.

Una delle maggiori iniziative dello scorso anno e stata l'introduzione del "piano strategico" per il Club. Cie) significa che per la prima volta abbiamo un piano bene articolato e documentato di ci6 che e stato fatto e che sara fatto in futuro. Questo piano ci da un senso di sicurezza, ed una guida nel dover prendere decisioni importanti in tutti gli aspetti della vita del Club.

Ma sappiamo tutti che un piano 6 valido solo nella misura in cui lo si pu6 attuare.

Mentre da un lato cercheremo di seguirne le direttive, dall'altro sara importante aggiornarlo in continuazione, controllarne l'attuazione e sostenere il personale che lo mette in pratica.

Sia it Comitato che il personale direttivo hanno lavorato per confrontare con it piano strategico i progressi fatti, ed essere sicuri che le decisioni che prendiamo siano in linea con esso e che stiamo operando nella direzione giusta.

Cio che abbiamo imparato b scorso anno a che dobbiamo essere fermi nel perseguire gli obiettivi previsti dal piano strategico. II Comitato lavorera insieme ai dirigenti del Club per rendere ancora piu forte l'attuazione fedele e complete del piano.

Nel torso dell'anno faremo anche un serio asame della situazione in cui si trove il Club per essere sicuri che nessun aspetto importante del piano sia stato trascurato.

Abbiamo fatto dei progressi in van settori con 7 obiettivi raggiunti: • Volevamo attirare nuovi sod, e sono lieta di informarvi che abbiamo it pit) alto numero di sod tesserati degli ultimi anni.

• Continuiamo a preparare e rendere pi0 qualificate le persone che lavorano in cucina e nel settore dell'ospitalita, in modo da poter offrire cibi e servizi eccellenti.

• Abbiamo adottato it sistema di rotazione degli orari di servizio, per rendere it lavoro del personale pit) efficace.

it KPIs (Key Performance Indicators - indicatore di ability) e l'annuale processo di aggiornamento.

• Conserviamo un ruolo importante nella comunita con un calendario di eventi indirizzati ad un vasto pubblico.

• Infine rimaniamo fermamente impegnati a valorizzare la cultura del Veneto con una nuova organizzazione della Festa di San Marco. Inoltre it nostro personale di cucina, molto abile, sotto la direzione dello chef David Gauci e con l'assistenza di Charles Roussety e Romina Lamanna, ha portato i sapori della cucina veneta al Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. II Comitato ha accolto con favore la proposta di invitare uno chef del Veneto per far parte dell'equipe di cucina. Questo rendera ancora piit rilevante l'autenticita della cucina veneta per i nostri sod e tutti i clienti.

Continuiamo a dare priority ate richieste ed alle necessity dei soci, migliorando i servizi e rivedendo i benefici, in modo da ripagarli della loro fedelta.

Sono certa che anche voi avrete constatato i notevoli progressi fatti dal Club in settori chiave. Naturalmente tutto do non sarebbe state possibile senza una guida efficiente formata dal dirigenti, dal personale, da una rete di volontari, e dal Comitato. Vorrei ringraziare le persone che sono responsabili del van settori e dei dipendenti; il personale che si dedica con tanto entusiasmo al servizio dei soci e dei clienti; i volontari che offrono gratuitamente it loro tempo e contribuiscono a tenere vive le tradizioni, la cultura e la spirito del Club.

Ringrazio i membri del Comitato peril loro supporto e tl contributo che danno al successo del Club.

• Abbiamo assunto nuovamente un "direttore sportivo" per coprire tl ruolo di supervisore dei sottocomitati sportivi, e continuare a costruire e sviluppare tl settore dello sport.

E' state per me un privilegio essere anche quest'anno al vostro servizio come presidente.

One of the major initiatives from last year was the development and agreement on the Club's strategic plan.

This was the first time we have had a clearly articulated and documented plan that goes beyond the current year and it has given us a sense of stability as we use it to guide major decisions across all aspects of the Club's operations.

On behalf of the Committee, it gives me great pleasure to present our annual report on the work and achievements of the Veneto Club over the past 12 months.

It seems that one theme is consistent in end of year reports and that is that regardless of how much we achieve there is always so much more to do.

I hope this report helps you understand what we have achieved and the journey that we are on and that by sharing this report we are able to strengthen your part of the Veneto Club family.

The year in review has been one of continued growth, both financially and socially, with a number of significant events on our calendar.

I would like to highlight that this year we celebrated our 40th anniversary of the building of the Club. We have all enjoyed the last 12 months celebrating this great milestone. We've enjoyed social times together. This culminated with three hundred guests for an exceptional lunch on the day of our anniversary, 8th December 2013.

Financially we have continued to stabilize the Club.

We have achieved a further reduction of 16% of our overall debt while still being able to reinvest in the Club to provide better events and better facilities for our members and their guests. This will continue to be a focus for all at the Club in the coming 12 months.

But we all know that a plan is only as good as the execution that follows it. While we remain focused on the strategic direction that the plan has articulated it's important that we continue to review it and monitor its relevance and execution and support management in its delivery.

Both the Committee and the Club's management teams have worked to track our progress against the strategy and make sure that decisions are aligned and that key measures are actually taking us in the direction we need.

Our lesson over the last year is that we can do better in making sure that the focus remains on the plan. To this end the Committee will work with the Club's management to tighten up our reporting and alignment with the strategy.

We will also use this year to review and refine the plan to make sure no significant things have changed that may require us to adjust accordingly.

We have made progress to varying degrees on the 7 key objectives.

• We wanted to attract more members and I am happy to report that we have the highest number of paid up members of the last few years.

• We continue to train and upskill our kitchen and hospitality staff to drive excellence in food and service.

• We have taken the rostering system and redesigned it to make the process simpler and more robust.

• We have reintroduced the sports manager's position to look after our

sports sub-committees to continue to build and leverage a well-managed sports department.

• Our managers and staff have undertaken training over the past 12 months in line with set KPIs and the annual review process.

• We maintain our role in the community with our calendar of community events during the year.

• Finally and importantly our commitment to the Veneto culture continues with the new look and successful Festa di San Marco.

Our brilliant kitchen staff under the direction of David Gauci and with the assistance of sous chefs Charles Roussety and Romina Lamanna brought a taste of Veneto to the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. The Committee has agreed to invite a Chef from the Veneto region to form part of our kitchen team. This is to help enhance the authenticity of our Veneto dishes for our members and guests.

We continue to put the needs of our members first by improving facilities, constantly revisiting members' benefits to give them value for money.

I am sure you will agree that in an already busy year this has been great progress on our key objectives.

Once again none of this would be possible without a great management team, committed staff, and our network of volunteers, and of course the Committee. I would like to thank the Management team for its support, all the staff for their dedication & hard work in attending to our members and guests and of course our volunteers for unselfishly giving their time and continuing to build the culture and spirit of this Club.

I would like to thank the Committee members for their support and contributions in assuring the Club's continued success.

Vice Presidents' Reports

I take this opportunity to thank all founding members, committees, members, staff and volunteers for their contribution over the many years. The past collective efforts of everyone, has established the foundation for the Veneto Club to continue its quest in promoting the Veneto culture.

The Veneto Club has a long and proud history since its inception and has cemented its place as the premier Italian Club in Australia and has become a destination of choice for many Melbournians.

In my inaugural year as Vice President, I was proud to be involved in the 40th anniversary that celebrated the past achievements of the Veneto Club.

2013 proved to be quite a year at the Veneto Club. 40 years is a celebrated event in any language, but when an establishment with the history, tradition, culture, pride and determination of the Veneto Club, there is well reason to celebrate.

The Veneto Club acknowledged the milestone with many happy festivities, initiating the anniversary with the Foundation members lunch in May. This was a most emotional event.

"FOUNDATION" is such an appropriate description for these particular members.

The past 12 months has seen the Veneto Club continue on its path of financial stability, membership growth and bringing more of the Veneto heritage via cultural and social events. The strategy of reinvesting profits into rejuvenating an ageing facility has seen many capital improvements. Over the coming years, the committee will continue to evaluate capital improvement projects conscious there has to be balance between affordability and a return on the investment.

The word itself has such strong significance. The dictionary describes FOUNDATION as a basis or groundwork, natural or prepared ground, and the one which is most accurate, the act of founding, setting up, establishing. That, which was described, was certainly delivered. Thank you. It was a most respectful way to honour these members.

The day was enjoyed by many, with 40 years of stories, abounding with memories, some tears and great food.

With a very successful career both as a player, coach and for a short time, in the media, Mr Malthouse was humbled by CanTeen, and its representatives. The emotional, very sad and difficult journeys these young people face were frightening.

BLUSH...for CanTeen was a great success. With a fun party atmosphere, dancing, auctions, dancers and DJ, raising $18,000 for such a great organization was such a satisfaction and an honour.

The festival year continued, and all expectations were exceeded on the 8 December 2013. The Veneto Club's 40th birthday was a sensation. Melbourne must have remembered our birthday!

Sun and warm conditions to start the proceedings around our symbolic gondola and then into the iconic Sala Venezia. Congratulations to all!

BLUSH this year was dedicated to another charity, CanTeen. CanTeen supports young people dealing with cancer. A most worthwhile cause. Our guest speaker this year was Michael Malthouse. We were indeed, quite

This has been an eventful year and one for which we can all be proud of for having reached the 40 year milestone of the Veneto Club's anniversary. From such humble beginnings to a vibrant and prosperous Club which has survived the test of time! We have faced all the challenges which have come our way, only to prove that we have the formula for success. Everyone's hard work and support, starting from the Committee, management, staff, volunteers and generous sponsors, has led to make the Club what it is today and we should be extremely proud of all of our achievements.

The Committee's vision from the onset was to deliver superior hospitality, event management, sports and entertainment services, and to preserve the rich cultural Veneto foundation. I have personally spoken about the need to ensure that the Club's business is robust and stable so that it can continue to lead us into the future and I feel confident that we now have this platform. We have navigated the Club through the gaming licence amendments, rewired our financial reporting and improved our balance sheet strength and successfully landed a National Premier League (NPL) licence, notwithstanding the controversy and obstruction which came our way. Credit and thanks goes to President, Dallila Sabbadini, who during the negotiation

period, was unrelenting in the belief that the NPL was the only way forward for the future of football at the Veneto Club. Her vision and passion has proven the cynics wrong and we can all rest assured that we are on an evolving and progressive path which will strengthen the brand of the Veneto Club.

We have invested in our management team and staff, gaming, technology, systems and software, accelerated our efficiency, quality and service agenda as well as all the capital improvements our members and patrons are enjoying today, such as the Members' Lounge, La Gondola Cafe, Lion's Den and Baracca.

Memberships are steadily upward but still not increasing at the rate at which we would like; however, we will continue to drive benefits which will be appealing to our patrons.

On a final note, it has been a successful year due to the dedication and hard work of the Committee, management, staff and volunteers and I encourage all members and patrons to continue to support the Club and celebrate its wonderful achievements.

Our total revenues continue to grow, not just from gaming but also from food sales that both our Bistro and Functions operations contribute towards. Whilst the audited results are not yet available at the time of writing this report, I am confident in saying that this year will mark the 6th consecutive year of profits. As already stated, this profit has partly been the result of increased revenues, but a number of other important areas have also been contributing factors:

Although business conditions across the hospitality sector remain mixed due to the prolonged global uncertainty and weak confidence levels, the global and local economies have been showing signs of financial improvements and I am glad to report that the Club is also experiencing a much improved financial position. We have performed extremely well relative to other similar Clubs in Melbourne.

• reduced principal amount owing to the bank • careful control of our expenses • quality control across the Club • a focused management group • professional staff • improved marketing • strategic committee objectives • an expanding customer base • most importantly, a loyal and supportive member base Club profits are a result of many revenue items and many expense items. All items on both sides of the ledger need careful management and when issues arise, quick and decisive action needs to be taken to ensure continued success. Our building assets are getting old and our maintenance costs continue to increase.

So some time in the very near future, we will need to bite the bullet and make some difficult decisions with respect to upgrading our facilities.

Our much improved financial position has made it possible to fund numerous improvements around the Club, all being funded from our improving cash flows and avoiding the need for additional bank loans. Improvements over the last 12 months include: • new carpets throughout the Club • new gaming machines and games • painting maintenance continues throughout the Club • new La Gondola bar/kiosk completed • new furniture, screening and decor in the Bistro area • improved furniture, lighting and storage in the Members Lounge • boardroom has been completely refurbished • refurbishment of La Baracca The Club has maintained its focus on strengthening our financial position and its reputation for service and food qualities.

We are always grateful for the member support and the management performance.

Carl soci Ho iniziato tl mio decimo anno al Veneto Club, e sempre rimango sorpreso dai progressi che it Club fa di anno in anno.

Ancora una volta it profitto a aumentato, e ci permette di investire per migliorare la sede ed i servizi. Come la maggioranza di voi ha gia potuto constatare, stiamo lavorando per nstrutturare diverse aree che hanno un'importanza primaria per it Club.

Durante i 12 mesi trascorsi l'attenzione stata rivolta al 40° anniversario del Club.

Questo evento a stato celebrato con vane iniziative, cominciando dal pranzo annuale dedicato ai fondatori, it "Foundation Members Luncheon" che ha visto la partecipazione di oltre 300 persone. In Agosto abbiamo avuto "La Festa del Baccala" con due famosi chef venuti dall'Italia per delle dimostrazioni culinarie per i soci e gli ospiti. Le celebrazioni si sono chiuse con una grande giornata di festal'8 dicembre 2013 con la presenza di soci anziani, giovani e invitati speciali.

E' tl terzo anno che it Veneto Club organizza in Ottobre it "Blush Ball". E' un evento del quale siamo tutti orgogliosi.

II nostro personale dona tl proprio tempo; i nostri fornitori donano cibo e bevande, e gli ospiti fanno delle offerte.

In tutto abbiamo raccolto $18,000 per l'organizzazione "CanTeen" che assiste i giovani che vivono con it cancro.

Altre manifestazini di rilievo, durante l'anno, sono state: "Una Notte Sotto le Stelle" che ha attirato una gran folla, mai vista prima d'ora. Siamo stati anche lieti di partecipare quest'anno al "Melbourne Food and Wine Festival" con una manifestazione ospitata a "La Baracca on the Yarra Banks". In questa occasione abbiamo potuto presentare una vetrina di speciality della cucina del Nord Italia, in 5 punti di ristoro e un pranzo di quattro portate con vini e intrattenimento. II successo a stato tale che speriamo di far parte di questo festival anche nel 2015.

Di recente, tl giorno dell'ANZAC Day 25 Aprile la "Sagra di San Marco" ha attirato molta gente che ha apprezzato la cucina tradizionale veneta, e I'intrattenimento.

Grazie a tutti coloro che ci hanno dato l'indirizzo email, in modo da facilitare i contatti in questo tempo di progresso elettronico; infatti molte nostre comunicazioni saranno fatte via elettronica su internet. Come molti di voi avranno notato, siamo gia entrati in questa fase, come lo prova tl fatto che la "newsletter" inVeneto e tl programma della manifestazini viene gia comunicato in via elettronica. Una iniziativa che intendiamo promuovere e completare in un prossimo futuro a quella di preparare la lista dei "compleanni" dei soci in modo da poter inviare a tutti un "buono acquisto - voucher", versato sul numero del cartellino di socio e la nuova "Veneto Club Gift Card"; entrambe collegate con it punteggio del sistema di vendite.

Durante lo scorso anno vi sono stati notevoli miglioramenti nel Club. Alcuni sono: • La Baracca: nuova cucina, bar e area di servizio • Sala riunioni del Comitato resa ptu moderna ed in grado di ospitare convegni, con servizi che includono le teleconferenze • Sala dei soci, arredata in modo moderno e con nuovi tappeti • Sala giochi e bistro, rinnovata in alcuni servizi Questi miglioramenti sono gia stati bene accolti dai sod. II prossimo anno ye ne saranno degli altri, e in programma abbiamo: • Una nuova rampa all'entrata del Club • Nuovi tappeti nella Sala Venezia e nella saletta Gondola • Nuovi quadri di comando e interruttori per l'elettricita Di recente abbiamo dato tl benvenuto al nuovo chef Lorin Jacobs. General Manager's Report

I have now commenced my tenth year at the Club and still continue to be amazed at the year on year growth of the Veneto Club's business. Once again, profit has increased allowing us to reinvest in the Club's facilities. As most of you will have noticed, we have undertaken some quite significant refurbishments of key areas within the Club.

The past 12 months, the Club's focus was on the 40th Anniversary. During the 40th year, we held many events to celebrate this milestone, commencing with our Annual "Foundation Members Luncheon" which attracted more than 300 guests. In August, we hosted "La Festa Del Baccala". Two renowned Chefs from Italy arrived to showcase the Italian cuisine to all our members and guests.

Our celebrations culminated on the 8th December 2013, with a wonderful day shared by old and new members and key guests.

For the third year now the Veneto Club hosted the "Blush Ball" in October, this is an event that we can all be proud of, our staff donated their time, our food and beverage suppliers donated goods and services and our guests helped us raise $18,000, which this year was donated to "CanTeen" an organisation that supports young people living with Cancer.

Other major successful events throughout the year include; our annual "Una Notte

Sotto Le Stelle" which attracted the largest crowd we have seen to date.

We were also pleased to be part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival annual event, by hosting "La Baracca on the Yarra Banks". We proudly showcased a Northern Italian culinary feast, with five exceptional food stations, followed by a four course luncheon, wine and entertainment. With this event having such great success, we hope to be part of the festival in 2015. Recently, on Anzac Day the annual "Festa di San Marco" was held which drew an enormous crowd who enjoyed a great variety of traditional Veneto foods and entertainment.

Moving forward in this electronic world we live in, most of our communication will be conducted electronically. Some of you may have noticed, we now communicate our InVeneto newsletter electronically and have regular email blasts to advertise our upcoming events. We would like to thank all who have recently supplied email addresses.

Other member benefits we are hoping to implement throughout the year will be the introduction of Member birthday vouchers loaded directly onto your membership card and new Veneto Club Gift Cards. Both of which will be linked to our point of sale system.

The past year has seen major improvements on Club facilities which included; • La Baracca - new kitchen, bar and function facilities • Board Room - modernised to now cater for corporate meetings, also includes teleconferencing facilities • Members' Lounge - long overdue new furniture and carpet • Gaming and Bistro area - minor refurbishments

These newly renovated areas have already been well accepted. In the coming year, we are hoping to complete further improvements to the Club.

These include; • New entry access ramp • New carpet to Sala Venezia and Gondola room • Upgrading of certain electrical switchboards Recently we welcomed a new Head Chef, Lorin Jacobs, to our team who has taken over from David Gauci who is taking extended leave. I would like to thank David for his wonderful contribution and hope to see him back later in the year.

Lorin has big shoes to fill however I am sure he is up to the challenge.

Finally I would like to thank all the fantastic staff, hardworking volunteers, Veneto Club Committee and my family for their ongoing support which is greatly appreciated. Their unwavering support helps us realise our goals.

projects as without the support from the Veneto Club Committee, our management team and you, our members, this could not have been achieved in such a short time frame.

Having joined the Veneto Club's team back in 2005 I am very proud to have witnessed and played a part in the development and growth of what we all know is now one of the best members Clubs in Melbourne. With such a prolific heritage over the 40 or more years since its humble conception, the Club has rightly been recognised within the industry and local community for successfully fostering and promoting the cultural traditions of the Veneto region. This point of difference is still at the forefront of our Club ethos as we embark on yet another year of striving for excellence.

It was very exciting to be involved in our Club's 40th year anniversary celebrations which took place throughout the year, with a number of traditional and new special events which catered for a large demographic of the community and our members. These events as always are only successful due to the support we receive from our volunteers and suppliers, ensuring we can continue to provide our sought after Veneto style cultural offerings for many years to come.

In the last year, the Club has taken on a number of small to large projects to ensure our facilities and services that we offer our members are maintained at the highest standard and are developed to grow with the business. Aesthetically the Club is looking the best I have ever seen it in my time here. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in these

It is important to recognise the hard work and achievements within the Club over the past 12 months, but then we know that continued success takes a focused effort on not only where we have come from as a Club and what we have done, but more importantly where we are going and what we need to develop.

We are continually planning for the future and streamlining our processes as we strive to become a benchmark within our industry. We are in an ever advancing world with technologies always moving forward and therefore so are the potentials for enhanced service, benefits and business refinement.

Our committee and management team are constantly looking at ways of increasing our member benefits to promote and safeguard the future of our membership.

We have recently started developing more convenient solutions to our Members' Birthday and Club Gift vouchers so members can easily redeem these at our Point of Sale System. As we progress into the digital age we are looking to reduce the amount of traditional mail outs and where possible use emails as a point of contact for marketing and promotions, hence the recent requests for email addresses to our entire membership database.

As mentioned in the senior management report last year we took on some significant projects internally which changed the systems we use at the core of our business. Internal efficiencies have been attained by the use of our new Time and Attendance system which integrates with our payroll software. This system was a giant step into the future using not only a biometric finger print scanner to enable staff to record their

shifts, but a sophisticated management program to provide organizational tools for management, and a web portal for each staff to manage their own availability.

The more noticeable change externally to our systems was the new Point Of Sale (POS) software. This has given us the ability to develop promotions and deals with which we can reward our members and customers alike i.e. Wine of the month promos, Bistro meal deals etc.

It is through this POS system that we can further develop our member benefits.

We are currently in the final stages of yet another exciting step into the future by rewarding our members with Birthday Vouchers loaded onto your members swipe card automatically on the month of your birthday.

We are excited by the prospect of going the next step further this year by offering our very own "Veneto Club Gift Cards" which can have monetary value loaded on them to be spent at the Club which work similar in style to the "Coles/Myer" or any other comparable gift cards.

To conclude, I would like to recognise and applaud the hard work of our entire team and the ongoing support that they have given, as I have seen first-hand the efforts that have been made by staff and management to always strive for excellence and to work as a cohesive group. We have all faced some challenges over the past year or so and our team has had both inclusions as well as omissions to personnel at the management level.

Nonetheless together with the direction and drive from our General Manager Mr Joe Morello and the support from the Veneto Club Committee we have seen the Club achieve one of its most successful years ever.

Throughout 2013, Fabio (my fellow functions manager) and the entire functions team, have had a challenging, rewarding and enjoyable year. With our rooms continually at full capacity, we have had the pleasure of organizing many diverse celebrations for both our members and clients. We would like to thank you all for your ongoing support and look forward to assisting with any upcoming future festivities.

A highlight in 2013 was the celebration of the Veneto Club's 40th Anniversary Lunch. The day began with canapes and Prosecco in the recently opened La Gondola Caf6 followed by a delightful lunch in the Sala Venezia. This special occasion was attended by members and friends igniting many memories and stories from past and present years.

The Bistro was transformed into an intimate Restaurant for "Serata dei Gamberi". Patrons enjoyed an evening of seafood from the seas of Australia together with a special wine selection.

Our quarterly Wine Dinners continue to provide an evening of fine dining, exceptional wines and entertainment in a sophisticated relaxing and intimate ambience. Interaction with wine makers remains a highlight with patrons providing an informative review of wines enjoyed during the evening.

In 2014 the year began with the Veneto Club being part of Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. This event was held in "La Baracca" under the trees by the Yarra bank. A perfect sunny day complimented a delicious menu that commenced with tastings from the Veneto region. The day was enjoyed by all who attended.

In April, the annual Festa di San Marco was held in "La Gondola". Spreading into the adjacent car park were seven marquees offering an array of traditional food choices which created an atmosphere of an Italian street festival.

Patrons of all ages enjoyed a laid back day full of fun, food and entertainment.

We would like to thank all the volunteers whose tireless effort made this event successful and we look forward to seeing you all in 2015.

We look forward to another exhilarating and diverse year in functions. We would like to thank the Functions and Catering teams, and all our function staff for their constant support and assistance in providing our clients with memorable experiences at the Veneto Club.

Furthermore, we would like to thank Management and Committee for their ongoing support.

consolidate the Club's junior structure. As a result Templestowe United FC has now been incorporated in order to give all our juniors the opportunity to continue playing football at the Veneto Club.

Once again it's been a busy year and the Club has seen many achievements. We continue to develop not only our teams, players and facilities but also our Club community and culture of sport as a whole. I am both thrilled and grateful to be working with such a great group of committed individuals. Let us take a look at some of our successes over the past twelve months.

FC Bulleen Lions Senior Men finished the 2013 season in seventh position and the Women's team in ninth. As it stands in 2014, the Senior Men and Senior Women sit in the top half of their respective competitions. Monday nights are always', busy so be sure to come outside and cheer on the teams throughout the season. Our juniors continue to be one of the strongest groups in the metropolitan area across both boys and girls. Credit must go to all coaches, team managers and parents for their contributions that will surely see them with continued progress and victories in 2014.

Football in 2014 has vastly changed around Victoria with the introduction of the National Premier League (NPL). Over the last 12 months we have been working hard to support the implementation of the competition. We have finally succeeded and have subsequently been offered a position in the NPL competition across the juniors and seniors. Under the new rules and guidelines, we were required to

In tennis and squash, a big congratulations goes to all Club champions for their successful 2013 season. We wish you all the best for your upcoming campaigns and look forward to hearing about the progress of such talented teams.

Facilities remain popular amongst schools and individuals within the local area which is an unsaid endorsement for the Club.

Potential squash and tennis players are encouraged to call the sports department to be then passed onto relevant subcommittees.

The Veneto Club played host to the Annual State Games for the Special Olympics in April with great success.

Bocce was played in front of a large and vocal crowd which contributed to a great show of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Many fine athletes from across the state participated in the Games and we look forward to hosting the Nationals in October. Bocce always has a strong following at the Veneto Club and Emilio Colla, Aldo Zaccaria and the team work tirelessly to help with events such as the Special Olympics, school groups, functions and corporate events.

Each month, golf outings continue to draw a strong playing contingent and tales of triumph and turmoil are heard throughout the Club. A special thanks must be given to Frank Pezzin for his consistent planning and preparation efforts of the Veneto Golf Club. The Golf Club is always looking for new members to continue their growth.

We hosted two football carnivals early this year, the Melbourne Chinese Soccer

Association (MCSA) football round robin and the RESPECT five-a-side tournament which hosted teams from the Victoria Police, Melbourne Heart, Melbourne Chinese Football Association and teams from six different religious backgrounds.

This was a brilliant event for all involved over both days and fantastic to see cultural divides being crossed by football and sport.

Schools continue to feature highly on the Veneto Club's plans for the future and we have seen a dramatic increase within the sports area because of it. Both primary and secondary school students enjoy the use of our fantastic facilities, whether it is football, basketball, bocce, tennis, squash or our increasingly popular Italian cultural days.

Another year comes and goes, we are nearly halfway through 2014 and I would personally like to wish everyone a prosperous and healthy year. Nothing would be possible without the support of our valuable staff, coaches, volunteers, parents, and patrons. Thank you greatly for your help and contributions throughout the past year. In addition, I would like to thank everyone who has made my first year at the Club such an enjoyable experience.

Another year has passed and it seems like yesterday that we were preparing our 2013 report. I guess due to the enormous changes that have gone on at FC Bulleen Lions and in Victorian football in general it has made the time fly!

The National Premier League (NPL) was introduced throughout Australia and our Club applied and was successful in being granted a 3 year licence. If we were going to be serious about player development and giving our players (juniors and seniors) a valid pathway into the A League and beyond it was mandatory for us to apply.

With the application came countless hours in preparing our submission and in preparing our Club to meet its obligations.

The NPL model is about having the 'best playing against the best' to further enhance player development to produce elite players. In order for this to happen each NFL Club needs to adhere to strict coaching requirements both in accreditation and in coaching content.

There are further imposts on facilities, medical care, governance and finances so you can see this needed to happen to 'lift the bar' in football in this state in order to improve the way football is played and also to produce our own Lionel Messis.

At junior level the NPL has been fantastic in that it has produced a robust competition where 12 nil score lines are a thing of the past. Next year we will play

30 games and coupled with 10 weeks of preseason it will have our children active for 40 weeks - which is starting to resemble the amount played overseas and necessary for development. We all hope that the work we are doing now will be evident in 5 to 10 years' time when our football, both local and international, will improve to such an extent that it will be easy to identify what Australian football 'looks' like and more importantly how successful it has made us.

FC Bulleen Lions Under 21 Reserves

Coach: Fabrizio Soncin The season of 2013 started with some familiar faces from 2012 and several new ones. A few of the U21s from the class of 2012 graduated to the Senior Men's team after earning a well deserved spot.

Graduating players were Joseph Katebian, Sam Borghesi, Bardhi Hysoli, Dylan Bresolin and Dean Lorenzi.

(All players are actively playing at FCBL in 2014).

A new year brought together a new set of challenges for 2013 and one to match the 2012 season's premiership success.

Scoring 87 goals, 18 wins, 4 losses and to end up with 54 Points, winning the 2013 U21 Premiership title. (Runner up managed to score a total of 49 goals).

We did not think we could match the efforts from the 2012 Season (86 goals, 15 wins, 3 losses and 4 draws with 48 Points) but we achieved all of that and more. We lost some of our talent, strength and key goal scorers to the Senior Men's Team, Joseph, Sam, Bardhi and Dean. We continued to work hard as a team, respecting all our strengths and weaknesses; we marched ahead and got on with the job.

Currently as it stands, players from the class of 2013 that have graduated to FCBL Seniors are; Luke Gallo (GK), Alex Tomaselli, Edison Ponari, and Jack Gow with Dylan Bresolin, Vincent Vasquez and David Antequero as train ons.

As with the previous year (2012) the season of 2013 started off with a loss, but as the year progressed, the players adapted. We went on to take the quinella, and win the 2013 U21s Premiership once again. It made us all proud that we excelled and achieved all our goals by breaking the previous year's record.

With the NPLV competition growing momentum for the 2014 season, plans and preparation were already firmly in place for the 2014 season ahead.

In total, our current FCBL Senior Men's squad of 2014 has 14 players who have come through our junior and youth development system.

Senior Men Coach: John Waddell The 2013 season started off with an intense pre-season, several practice games against some decent opposition followed by the annual pre-season Beppi Crema Cup. It was great to see that all players from the previous year returned to FC Bulleen Lions, keen and full of energy.

Our first game started off with a slight hiccup against Moreland Zebras, one of which was not part of our plan to begin the 2013 season. With the season firmly in motion, we had great success with some rather challenging opposition and some not so great.

Amidst the mid-season transfer window we acquired the former Melbourne Victory A-league star, Kristian Sarkies, to boost the strength of our squad, as several other players moved on to other Clubs during the transfer period. It was great to have a number of experienced leaders at FCBL in 2013, as it was necessary to nurture the development of our youth.

With the season coming to an end, the FCBL Senior Men's completed the 2013 season in the middle of the league table.

As Fabrizio Soncin has already mentioned, in total, our current FCBL Senior Men's squad of 2014 has 14 players who have come through our junior and youth development system.

We will continue the philosophy of FCBL, "promote the development of our youth" and "provide opportunities and the development of future aspiring soccer players that play for FC Bulleen Lions."

FC Bulleen Lions i-tve-a-side 2013 was another successful year for the Veneto Club Fiveaside Competition.

Team entries once again exceeded 90, clearly indicating that there is strong demand for a professionally run tournament.

Teams are coming from as far as Ringwood to participate in our Fiveaside competition.

The reputation of, and hence demand this competition has created, is a credit to the Veneto Club facilities and the quality of its administration on and off the courts.

The Fiveaside competition caters for a broad spectrum of the community with teams ranging in age from U6/U7 right through to Open Men. Our competition was fiercely competitive and all look forward to returning in the 2014 year.

Fiveaside runs from early October for 10 weeks until mid December. The Fiveaside competition ran three nights a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - in the David Barro Stadium.

With registrations at capacity our programs ran with gusto and enthusiasm every Saturday morning rain, hail or shine.

The children enjoyed learning about football in a great environment with supportive coaches and team managers.

The FC Bulleen Lions would like to thank all coaches and team managers for their support and efforts throughout the year. Our success is reflective of the time you have put towards our Club.

We would sincerely like to thank Joanne Bagnara for her tireless work for SSF in 2013. We also would like to thank Jarrod and Adrian Del Monaco for their outstanding contribution.

FC BULLEEN LIONS WOMEN GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH We are extremely proud of the FC Bulleen Lions Women (FCBLW) who have achieved what many teams in the past five years have not been able to and that is to survive their first year in the Women's Premier League (WPL).

Congratulations to Head Coach - Bob McGuinness who continued to build on the groundwork set previously with the players benefitting from his extensive , experience and coaching style. Bob's' efforts were also acknowledged at the FFV Gold Medal night being awarded the WPL Coach of the year.

An indication of the gap between State 1 League and WPL is that FCBLW is only the second team, Bundoora being the other, not to be immediately relegated after promotion to the WPL. It was the

collaborative team effort from all levels within the Club; officials, administrators, coaches, support staff, supporters and players that ensured that FCBLW is here to stay at the highest level of Victorian Football.

The other significant advantage that FCBLW has is a complete structure of teams that start at Ull's in the Miniroos program and progresses through U12, U14, and U16 to our State League and WPL Reserves teams.

The WPL Reserves team were not only competitive in their own right, finishing 5th in their inaugural year, but Coach - Dino Bravo and the Reserve players provided tremendous support for the Senior Team throughout the year.

The State League Team is proving to be an excellent development path between the U16 Juniors and the WPL teams with

five players being promoted to the WPL Reserves team.

The Junior Girls Football program could not be in better shape with 4 out of the 5 teams winning their league's championships.

The U16A's also went on to win the State Title as the best U16 team in the state.

In other words, a Team can have a successful year and be promoted but a strong Club is what is needed to achieve long term sustainable success. FCBL is such a Club offering a complete structure and pathway for girls, great facilities, accredited coaches and Technical Directors that care about junior development in accordance with the National Football Curriculum.

The success of FCBLW could not have been achieved without the continued support of both the Veneto Club Board and the FCBL Sub Committee.

Last September, FC Bulleen Lions' boys under 16 High Ability Group (HAG) team set out on a trip which saw them cross the world to the beautiful country of Italy.

After having several months now to review the whole experience, Bulleen's Bassano tour is not only a footballing tour for young aspiring players but a tour which I found matured me as an individual. The tour is constructed very professionally with set guidelines and timetables that each player is exposed to, therefore placing greater responsibility on not just you as an individual but the team as a unit, forcing improvement and maturity.

Being able to take in the experience of coaches who have their own unique view of the game is something that all players are able to value; each player was given the opportunity to ask questions and players were encouraged to expand their footballing knowledge. Training sessions and in depth theory sessions organised from coaching staff were cleverly planned, not for the benefit of themselves but completely for us as players. It is because of this effort and pride that the coaches apply to improving players that the team which was sent over came back stronger than ever.

The food provided thanks to Hotel Belvedere was exceptional. Some of the boys were wondering how long it would take before the Chefs would run out of various pasta sauces, that time fortunately never arrived. Pasta as a first course is always followed by a second course of a type of meat, apart from before a game when we often received a plate of prosciutto! A type of sweet/ dessert then followed shortly after these two courses. It is at these meal times when time with your team mates is enjoyed with laughter.

This trip did not just improve our abilities as footballers, but also heavily impacted how we act as human beings. I as well as others now truly understand the importance of being organised and how to act appropriately in different situations, whether it is on or off the park.

All of our fluency in Italian improved nicely, many of the players embraced the beautiful language and used it in everyday scenarios by the end of the tour. It is now, when I look back at the trip I realise how great of an experience it truly was and wish I could return.

Anche quest'anno la stagione bocciofila si concludera con i campionati nazionali che si svolgeranno nel mese di giugno ad Adelaide. Non ci saranno giocatori del nostro Club nella squadra maschile del Victoria, ma in quella femminile due delle tre donne che rappresentano it Victoria sono del Veneto Club; e sono Agnese Giacomin e Joice Costanzo, a cui vanno i nostri migliori auguri.

Quello trascorso, a stato per not un anno molto attivo. La competizione del mercoledi sera continua con grande successo, con una partecipazione media di circa 60 giocatori.

Lo scorso ottobre sono stati ospiti da not i giocatori dello Yoogali Bocce Club di Griffith, e con essi abbiamo festeggiato it 40° incontro fra i due clubs. Nel mese di marzo di quest'anno 6 stata la volta del Marconi Club di Sydney ad essere nostro ospite al Veneto Club, e abbiamo organizzato incontri di bocce di grande sportivita e amicizia.

Taste of tradition for Italian festival BACCALA is the traditional Venetian dish that Josie Faggion loves to help prepare for the Festa di San Marco The Veneto Club in Bulleen will hold the annual Italian food festival on April 25 from noon, with its impressive food marquees expected to attract 400 people.

Ms Faggion has been a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary committee for almost 30 years after migrating from Italy to Australia in 1958. In her early 80s, she is one of five existing auxiliary members and knows the secret to making

the best baccala.

"There is fish, parsley, anchovies, onion, milk and all of the good stuff," she said.

"It's like a casserole without any tomato and it's a long, slow process.

"And for dessert it's frittoli and crostoli."

Because the fish is salty, it is placed in water for seven days and the water is continually changed.

Veneto Club: i mid primi 40 anni!

Lily D'Ambrosio Domenica 6 stata una giornata di grandi festeggiamenti per la comunita degli italiani di origine veneta a Melbourne: it "Veneto Club" ha celebrato, infatti, i suoi primi quarant'anni con una festa cui hanno partecipato circa trecento persone, organizzata dalla Presidentessa Dallila Sabbadini.

La presenza veneta in Australia ha una lunga storia. II primo gruppo arrive addirittura nel 1881, quando it Marchese de Rays, un visionario francese che arruolo circa trecento coloni con la promessa di realizzare una society utopica in terre lontane.

Manifestazione gastronomica per far conoscere, preparare e apprezmre un piatto tipico della provincia di Vicenza

Festa del baccala al Veneto Club Anche gli alunni di sette scuole elementari e del William Angliss coinvolti nell'iniziativa La "Festa del baccala" 6 stata organizzata per la prima volta al Veneto Club di Bulleen eel torso della settimana dal 18 al 25 agosto. E' stato tm evento gastronomico di notevole importanza, che ha avuto una buona risposta da parte dei soci e della comuniti italiana. Le manifestazioni si sono svolte durante l'intera settimana coinvolgendo non solo le persone, uomini e donne, che volevano dare una dimostrazione della loro ability di cuochi, ma anche alcuni gruppi di alunni di 7 scuole elementari della zona e gli studenli della scuola alberghiera William Angliss. Gran parte del merito di questa iniziativa va attribuito a Carla Rigoni, socia onoraria della "Venerabile Confratemita del Bacilli alla Vicentina" che nell'ottobre 2011 a Sydney, quando era presidente del Circolo Vicentini, aveva ideato e promosso una simile kermesse dedicata al baccala.

Vi sono van modi per preparare piatti gustosi di baccala, ma in questa circostanza, it re del menu a stato it "baccala alla vicentina", la pin nota ricetta, quella che ha ricevuto dalla Commissione Europea it sigillo di uno dei 5 prodotti pin rappresentativi della gastronomia italiana. Per l'occasione sono giunti dall'Italia due chef famosi: Antonio Chemello (yin, citore della finalissima "La prova del cuoco") e ii cugino Luca Chemello.

Era con loro Fausto Fabris, uno dei fondatori ed attuale vicepresidente della "Confratemita".

11 primo appuntamento ha avuto luogo domenica 18 agosto con una gara di baccali aperta al pubblico e abbinata al pranzo di ferragosto, tradizionale convivio del Veneto Club.

La giomata di lunedi ha visto "salire in cattedra" 28 alunni, a gruppi di 4 di 7 scuole elementari.

Erano staff invitati a prepararsi nella declamazione di poesie in italiano, e lo hanno fatto recitandole e seeneggiandole con molts bravura, tea gli applausi dei presenti. Dopo

Antonio e Luca Chemello, coadiuvati da Carla Rigoni net ruolo di interprete, hanno illustrato agli aspiranti chef tutti gli aspetti del merluzzo, pesce che prende nomi diversi a seconda che sia fresco (merluzzo), conservato sotto sale (baccali), o seccato (stoccafisso). I giovani, tutti all'oscuro

della aree di pesca del merluzzo, dei popoli consumatori, e di come viene conservato e cucinato il pesce, sono rimasti sorpresi, dope gli assaggi, del sapore forte e originale del pesce; ma hanno dichiarato che it "baccala" potrebbe essere una novita gradita anche nelle cucine dei ristoranti australiani.

La serata culmine della settimana 6 stata quella di venerdi 23 agosto, dove nella Sala Venezia i Chemello e gli chef del club hanno dato una dimostrazione di alta cucina per un pubblico selezionato di buongustai. II menu presentava carpaccio di baccala, baccala mantecato. baccala con salmone ed altro; ii tutto accompagnato da vini veneti, musics e ballo. Durante la serata ii ristorante del Veneto Club veniva inserito, primo fuori dall'Europa, nella rete dei ristoranti aderenti alla Confratemita.

Nell'arco della settimana 6 stato possibile degustare anche alcuni piatti tipici della cucina di Chemello: risotto al baccala e zucca; risotto con gli asparagi; bigoli con baccala; zuppa di pomodoro e baccala.

L'interesse dei partecipanti ai vari incontri 6 stato alto, e lo dimostra soprattutto it fatto che i 5 corsi di cucina al Veneto Club, con 15 persone in ognuno di essi, hanno registrato it tutto esaurito.

I Chemello e Fausto Fabris, prima di rientrare in Italia si sono concessi una breve vacxnza nella zone turistiche pia attraenti dell'Australia, anche per "farsi la bocca" con qualcosa di dolce, come la frutta tropicale del North Queensland. Antonio e Luca Chemello ritomeranno presto al lavoro nei loro rispettivi ristoranti: "La trattoria da Palmerino" a Sandrigo, e Aeolia Ristorante Carrozza, in provincia di Vicenza.

Il Santo patrono festeggiato it 25 aprile in concomitanza dell'ANZAC Day con centinaia di partecipanti

San Marco al Veneto Club Intrattenimento tradizionale delle fiere italiane con pietanze tipiche innaffiate da buon vino La bella giornata di sole autunnale per la festa annuale in onore di San Marco Evangelista al Veneto Club, organizzata nello stesso giomo dell'ANZAC Day, lo scorso venerdi 25 aprile e che e giunta al suo 15mo anno, ha attratto parecchie centinaia di persone e famiglie originarie da vane province del Veneto.

L'occasione annuale d stata per molti veneti di Melbourne e per tanti loro amici di altre regioni italiane, una giornata baldanzosa ed allegra per rinnovare l'amicizia, mentre si 6 potuto degustare pietanze tipiche provinciali innaffiate da vini e godersi intrattenimento tipico delle fiere in occasioni di feste patronali dei nostri paesi. La celebrazione della Santa Messa all'aperto, nel piazzale dell'ingresso del grande complesso edilizio sociale, di Bulleen, segnava l'inizio dell'evento annuale. B culto religioso 6 stato concelebrato dai padri Giuliano Cavarzan (originario di Maser, in provincia di Treviso) e Vito Pegolo (Cappellano della Comunita Itahana di Melbourne, originario di Pordenone). Mentre circa un centinaio di devoti fedeli erano raccolti in preghiera nel torso della Santa Messa in onore del Patrono di Venezia, altri invece, erano intenti a preparare le bancarelle per il pranzo consistente nella degustazione dei van piatti tipici veneti, oppure a giocare a bocce.

Questo fatto veniva notato ed accentuato con chiarezza e senza mezzi termini da padre Cavarzan nella sua chiara omelia. "Va bene divertirsi, a non dimentichiamo che siamo un popolo credente cristiano e cattolico".

Dalla presidente Dellila Sabbadini si apprendeva che mentre negli ultimi cinque anni Ia festa avviene nello stesso giorno della celebrazione dell'ANZAC Day, invece nel torso dei priori dieci anni la festa cadeva in tempi diversi. "Questa festa 6 un giomo particolare per noi. E un gior-

The Veneto Club's Cycling Club has run a few rides over the summer months and will continue to organize rides over the autumn and winter period.

So far our rides have included cycling up to the Dandenongs as well as down to the beach. We are a casual group of riders and the rides cater for cyclists of all abilities.

Our Golf Club is now in its 10th year and still drawing new members from the greater community.

Current membership stands at 43 and the Golf Club encourages any would be golfer to try his hand as a guest during any of the scheduled Sunday games throughout the year. If you are interested in playing a round with the Veneto Golf Club please notify any of the committee members listed below at least 7 days prior to the game.

Subsequently if you wish to become a member but have no official handicap, the Club will establish your handicap from the first 3 rounds played; note however, the handicap is unofficial and only valid for the Veneto Golf. The grading format was as follows: A Grade 0-21, B Grade 22-26, and C Grade 27-32.

With the increasing demand to play more golf the Club successfully launched extra games during the 2013 golf calendar with an average participation of 28 players per round. This format has been well received and will remain a permanent fixture for years to come.

As with every round played prizes for First and runner up are awarded in each of the 3 grades and it is with great pleasure that the Golf Club recognises the support of its loyal Sponsors who makes all this possible.

2013 VENETO CLUB GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Congratulations to Mr Nat Colosimo on winning the overall Veneto Golf Club Champion for 2013. The battle came down to the last game of the year, with Nat leading the competition three contenders pressed hard on the day with no avail, Nat defended his lead and was a worthy overall Club Champion.

The golf format was 4 Ball best Ball where teams of four players competed against other teams. The format was a great success mixing teams of low and high handicappers together and giving everyone a chance to be competitive and vie for the terrific prizes on offer.

Accommodation was excellent and our thanks goes to Marisa Odorico and Teresa Piperno (the joker) for their organisation.

At the Annual General Meeting it was resolved that a change of venue for the Melbourne Cup Week-end was in order and the 2014 week end away will be held in Moama.

Squash at the Veneto Club is always very active and busy, and now the squash foyer looks really great with the replacement of the floor tiles. On behalf of Veneto Squash and the Veneto Club we would like to thank Robert Mason and his right hand man Nerio Farraro on the professional task of laying the tiles.

One of the teams in C-2 made the finals in the last season of spring 2013 but unfortunately they were just beaten.

It was a great finish nonetheless and the team will go up a grade to C-1 in autumn 2014.

Section 10 Open Division

It is with great honour that I have the chance to say thank you to all the tennis members, families and their friends. We do encourage members to use the courts socially and to invite guests for a game and also use the facilities that our great Club provides.

The tennis section of the Veneto Club is reasonably active throughout the year.

The six courts always see plenty of action in the way of coaching, social games and competition.

MEN'S COMPETITION In my last report of 2013, I mentioned that all of the Veneto teams had a good chance of playing in the finals. We had one team that won the Grand Final in the Autumn Competition of 2013. On behalf of the Veneto Club, we congratulate Section 4 Veterans for an outstanding season. This team also won the Grand Final the previous year. The members of this team are Anthony Carafa, Alfredo Costanzo, Chris Harding, Tony Marchesiani, Gary McCarney, Umberto Masci, Mark Bernato and Damien Darico.

The Veneto Tennis is represented by our Tuesday night competition which started on Tuesday 4th February; the Club has one team playing in Section 6 and one team in Section 10 of the Open Division.

There are three teams playing in the Veteran's Division - one team in Section 1, one team in Section 3 and one team in Section 11.

Players of Section 6 are Robert Conte, Frank BonGiovani, Sal Valentino, Mauro Borich, John Frazzetto, Brian Baylie and Marco Cimino.

Section 10 are represented by Raymond Barro, Romeo Creme, Adrian DeStefanis, Mark DeStefanis, Daniel lera, Philip McCrone, Phillip Price (Captain), and Maurice Bruni Section 1 Veterans are represented by Mario Basso, Donato D'Augello, Nick Longo, Angelo Bafunno, Barry Litchfield, and Tony Bafunno.

Section 11 Veterans is Dennis Basile, Louis Crema, Anthony Laino, Joe Pinto, Rohan Russell, Ennio Valsorda, Tony Trovato and Val DiFelice.

As the competition is approaching the end of the Autumn Season, there could be all of the teams competing in the Finals and we wish them all the best of luck. To all our competitors, the Spring Season 2014 will commence on Tuesday 5th August 2014.

APPRECIATION On behalf of the tennis committee we would like to thank Alma Zanatta for organising the Ladies Tuesday Competition and also for keeping the tennis room in impeccable condition at all times during the year. Alma's enthusiasm and hard work cannot go unnoticed.

The Tennis Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Veneto Club Committee for its continued encouragement and support throughout the year. Also, thank you to all the staff in the office, the bar and kitchen for their cooperation and assistance, and in particular, for the excellent suppers which are provided every Tuesday night. In concluding, I would like to thank the tennis members for their continued and highly valued support over the past years.

Durante l'anno vi sono state molte feste e attivita organizzate dalle brave signore del gruppo Ladies' Auxiliary. Per la prima volta abbiamo avuto un certificato ufficiale di "fundraisers" del Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal e con it diritto di inserire it loro sigillo nelle nostre iniziative.

La nostra donazione al Veneto Club 6 stata di $14,000 cosegnata durante la "Cena del Presidente". Tale contribuito destinato a lavori di rinnovamento della storica "Baracca". Sembra che i risultati di questo lavoro siano gia apprezzati da tanti soci e simpatizzanti del Club.

Una delle feste piu importanti nel calendario del Veneto Club per tutta la comunita a stata "Una Notte Sotto le Stelle" alla vigilia di Natale in dicembre. Le donne del Ladies' Auxiliary hanno lavorato sempre con impegno e con dedicazione per servire it cibo e vendere i biglietti della lotteria e i panettoni. Anche quest'anno questa manifestazione natalizia ha registrato un grande successo. A gennaio, per ('Australia Day, siamo stati fortunati di avere una bellissima giornata di sole, e consumare tanto cibo in allegria, con speciality la "Porchetta" nella "nuova" Baracca.

II programma per 2013-2014 includeva anche la partecipazione alle feste del Veneto Club. II calendario delle manifestazioni ha iniziato con "Mothers' Day Lunch" a maggio, seguito dal pranzo denominato "Christmas in July" e poi it "Pranzo di Natale" a dicembre.

Questi pranzi hanno avuto una buona partecipazione, con piu di cento persone, che hanno contribuito anche al successo delle lotterie.

Quest'anno iI pranzo di Pasqua organizzato dal Ladies' Auxiliary in aprile stato l'occasione per raccogliere fondi con la lotteria e la vendita delle colombe, che si sono aggiunti alle donazioni raccolte con le lattine "ufficiali". Per la donazione annuale al Royal Childrens' Hospital Good Friday Appeal abbiamo presentato agli organizzatori dell'appello un assegno di $1,000 piu la raccolta delle lattine.

II pranzo pro "Breast Cancer" a stato organizzato in collaborazione con l'AntiCancer Council - I heart Pink. L'oratrice ospite, Nicole Kaufman, ha fatto una interessante illustrazione della ricerca del settore e dei miglioramenti nelle procedure mediche contro la malattia.

E naturalmente 6 stata offerta una donazione all'associazione.

II nostro contribuito al servizio del buffet continua ogni domenica - incluso Pasqua e la festa della mamma - nella Sala Venezia e ringraziamo le donne che partecipano a questo lavoro. In segno di riconoscenza le abbiamo invitate, come ospiti, alla Festa di Natale. La signora Bertilla Signori 6 stata ringraziata in modo speciale per oltre vent'anni di servizio.

II pranzo per la festa della mamma 2014 ha avuto luogo con successo lo scorso 7 maggio, e ringraziamo tutti gli intervenuti.

Le prossime attivita saranno: Christmas in July 23 luglio; Eastern Palliative Care Fundraiser 20 agosto; Pink Ribbon Fundraiser 8 ottobre; pranzo di Natale 3 dicembre.

Vogliamo ringraziare tutti i sod, amici e simpatizzanti che partecipano alle feste.

Abbiamo visto molte persone nuove e speriamo di poter sempre contribuire a mantenere vive le tradizioni venete.

Vorrei cogliere l'occasione per ringraziare calorosamente le donne del Ladies' Auxiliary per la loro assistenza, it lavoro e I'impegno prezioso e costante.

Abbiamo iniziato l'anno molto bene, e nei primi sei mesi numerosi soci e amici hanno partecipato al pranzo mensile.

II pranzo di Pasqua ha registrato una presenza particolarmente numerosa e l'organizzazione a stata eccellente.

Per not del Comitato 6 stata una bella soddisfazione anche se abbiamo sentito la stanchezza di dover preparare i tavoli e tutto l'occorrente per un pranzo cosi importante. I sod hanno capito tl lavoro che 6 necessario in queste occasioni e ci hanno tingraziato, perche tutti sono rimasti contenti.

II giorno 19 marzo siamo stati in gita: la meta era la baia di Geelong, poi la traversata in battello verso la Mornington Peninsula, con un pranzo buffet al Gateway Hotel. Tutti sono rimasti contenti. Un'altra gita motto interessante 6 stata quella del 13 e 14 maggio a Yarrawonga e Bright per la raccolta delle castagne.

II programma continues nei mesi prossimi con it solito pranzo mensile, fino alla fine dell'anno. Facciamo del nostro meglio per rendere serena la vita dei soci del nostro Circolo di Pensionati.

Anche quest'anno faremo una donazione di $1,000.00 per it Childrens' Hospital Good Friday Appeal. E una donazione che viene fatta da parte di tutti i soci.

Le attivita della nostra Associazione hanno lo scopo di organizzare feste per avere l'opportunita di passare insieme qualche ora in buona compagnia fra paesani ed amici. Presentiamo una sintesi di questa attivita a partire dal mese di Aprile 2013.

Sagra di San Marco 25 Aprile. La Comunita Montana ha partecipato, come ogni anno, con it menu tradizionale dell'Altopiano,"polenta, cotechino e crauti", preparato dal Veneto Club. Era una bellissima giornata e tutti si sono divertiti.

II pranzo annuale, con una speciale riunione dei soci, era in programma per il 20 Ottobre 2013. I soci presenti hanno approvato la rettifica di 2 regole della nostra Costituzione. Seguiva un buon pranzo con musica per ballare.

II picnic annuale ha avuto luogo it 23 Febbraio 2014. I piatti tradizionali erano saporiti e tutto a andato motto bene. Un grazie speciale a Bruno Spiller che con la sua fisarmonica ha intrattenuto i soci e creato un'atmosfera di allegrta. Fortunati e felici sono stati anche quei bambini che hanno trovato le caramelle dentro le "pignatte'".

Domenica 26 Maggio 2013: un buon numero di soci ed amici hanno partecipato al picnic di beneficenza pro "Camp Quality" alla Baracca del Veneto Club. I cibi erano quelli tradizionali: "polenta, formaggio e salsicce". Con questa iniziativa continuiamo a dare it nostro supporto per i bambini malati di cancro.

Lunedi 21 Aprile 2014 ci siamo ritrovati per la "bicchierata" di Pasquetta. II lieto pomeriggio 6 passato in un gioioso clima di amicizia. E' stata un'esperienza gradevole per tanti amici e paesani.

I nostri ringraziamenti vadano al Comitato, ai volontari e al Direttivo del Veneto Club per l'ospitalita e la cordiale assistenza.

Nella sala parrocchiale di Santa Brigida molti soci ed amici si sono riuniti it 4 Agosto 2013, con inizio alle ore 2.00pm per uno speciale pomeriggio di amicizia; e in questa occasione i presenti hanno potuto degustare pane e sopressa, con yin brute e poi dei buonissimi crostoli.

L'Associazione Veronesi nel Mondo di Melbourne 6 nata per mantenere e promuovere la conoscenza delle nostre origini. L'Associazione a stata creata ufficialmente a Melbourne nell'anno 1987 dopo vane tentative e tiunioni fatte anni prima. Una volta costituito ii Comitato l'Associazione prendeva il via e sempre appoggiati al Veneto Club ci si riuniva per celebrare assieme ai soci le nostre feste tradizionali. Nei primi tempi il ritrovarci tra paesani era motivo di entusiasmo, ed era estremamente positivo e gratificante ricordare la nostra citta, Verona, ed i nostri paesi. L'Associazione Veronesi era quindi stimolata e motiVata esclusivamente da un fine sociale e senza scopo di lucro. II nostro gruppo aperto non solo ai Veronesi, ma a tutte le persone che ne condividono gli scopi e desideano partecipare alle manifestazioni.

L'anno 2013 6 stato molto attivo e ci ha dato grandi soddisfazioni. Di negativo dobbiamo segnalare solo il picnic della festa di Pasqua, causa tl maltempo. Ma abbiamo organizzato con successo tl pranzo con le trippe, la gita all'azienda agricola di asparagi, completata da una visita ad una coltivazione di fragole; senza contare la sempre gradita festa di Santa Lucia a dicembre.

Anche la nostra Associazione durante l'ultimo periodo 6 stata segnata dal decesso di soci motto validi, come la nostra consigliere Elda Data Zuanna, Piero e Giulia Rasia, Johny Zollo e Valerio 58

E'doveroso ringraziare it Comitato, i volontari e i sod, la cui presenza ci offre la possibility di realizzare un interessante programma di eventi sociali e culturali.

Salutiamo tutti i soci ed amid che hanno accolto con entusiasmo le attivite che abbiamo promosso net corso dell'anno, e rivolgiamo ad essi l'invito a parteciparvi anche nel futuro Segnaliamo alcuni eventi importanti a cui ha aderito l'Associazione Veronesi di Melbourne, o aderira nella seconda meta di quest'anno: Domenica 27 Aprile: Festa di San Marco al Veneto Club assieme alle afire Associazioni.

Sabato 10 Maggio: Gita a Griffith (2 giorni e 2 pemottament).

Domenica 1 Giugno: Celebrazione Festa della Repubblica Italiana.

Domenica 13 Luglio: Pranzo con trippe nella sala della parrocchia di Holy Spirit al 197 Claredon St di Thornbury.

Domenica 12 ottobre: ore 6pm "Pizza Night".

Sabato 10 Novembre: Gita ad aziende di coltivazione di asparagi e fragole ($65 tutto incluso).

Domenica 7 Dicembre: Picnic di Santa Lucia dalle ore 11.30am, alla Baracca del Veneto Club.

Che cosa a il Veneto Club ?

Cos'e questo Club di cui parlano sempre?

E' un edificio sempre pieno di gente.

Per ben descriverlo bisogna pensare ai fondatori che per primi hanno messo i propri sudori.

Noi che siamo in Australia, terra lontana, entrando nel Club respiriamo un'aria italiana.

Da qui son passati ministri, operai e dottori, e lo staff del Veneto Club a tutti sa fare gli onori.

Le persone piCt anziane ricordano che un tempo giocare a bocce e a carte era l'unico divertimento.

Ora al Club son tante le cose che si posson fare, e la gente quando 6 qui non se ne vuole andare.

Nel nostro Club si fa pure la serata culturale che fa parte della nostra vita sociale.

E tra sport, feste, balli e belle cenette i soci finiscono le serate alle macchinette.

Chi e venuto prima di not ci ha lasciato in gestione questo patrimonio da consegnare alla nuova generazione.

II nostro Club non ha mai fatto distinzioni fra veneti, siciliani, lombardi o gente di altre nazioni.

Bisognerebbe fermarsi un attimo a ricordare tutte le persone che si sono date da fare.

La testimonianza e lo spirito che ci han lasciato significa mantenere nel futuro it nostro passato.

II 2013 6 stato un anno fertile per it nostro Circolo. Abbiamo registrato 15 sod in piu rispetto al 2012. Alcuni di questi erano soci che per vane ragioni avevano smesso di pagare la tessera. Ora siamo in 250 soci paganti (nel 2012 eravamo 235).

L'Ente Vicentini nel 2013 ha organizzato 10 manifestazioni tra feste, gite, picnic, e sempre con notevole successo.

Veramente memorabile a stata la Festa Vicentina di novembre alla Baracca con piu di 400 persone intervenute, inclusi 60 giovani. Abbiamo servito un piatto di cibo della cucina nostrana con bibite, dolci e caffe; non mancavano giochi per i giovani come la cuccagna, la rottura delle pignate, la ruota della fortune, tl castello, e Zorro a cavallol Per i grandi c'era una varieta di intrattenimento con la musica e le canzoni del duo Joe La Greca; pure il Coro Furlan ha fatto la sua parte eseguendo canzoni tipiche venete. Tra esse la canzone dell'emigrante che bene esprimeva i sentimenti dei nostri emigranti in questa terra australiana. Grazie sopratutto al nostro instancabile Comitato che con grande entusiasmo ha saputo far si che la Festa riuscisse ottimamente, e non solo quella di novembre. Infatti tutte le manifestazioni hanno avuto un esito positivo. Ricordiamo ad esempio la gita alle castagne a Bendigo, la gita di tre giorni a Merimbula, la riunione dei 7 Circoli Vicentini a Canberra, la belle escursione con picnic al Gumbuya Park, e tl nostro picnic annuale alla Baracca con piu di 370 persone, inclusi 40 bambini.

Ora nel nostro Comitato peril 2014 c'e un nuovo membro, Antonio Meneghini.

Purtroppo nel mese di febbraio abbiamo perso un nostro caro amico e membro del Comitato, Giuseppe Boarotto, che ci manchera tanto.

II 2014 promette bene cominciando con la bicchierata annuale di San Stefano. A febbraio ha avuto luogo l'assemblea generale nella Sala Venezia con la partecipazione di 270 persone.

Alla gita di marzo a Mildura di 4 giorni i presenti erano 100, ed hanno trascorso giornate di serena amicizia. II picnic della domenica delle Palme, it 13 aprile alla Baracca, e stato come sempre una magnifica occasione per vedere unite tante famiglie vicentine, compresi i bambini. La gita delle castagne a Wonthaggi si a svolta a maggio, ed abbiamo in programma la festa del 30mo anniversario it prossimo 20 luglio con un pranzo speciale nella Sala Venezia.
