Presidents Report
• We've increased the seating in the bistro by 30 seats by installing new umbrellas and heaters in the outside area of the Bistro • Most of the club has had new carpet laid and has received a fresh coat of paint • We've now got "Felice's Bar" - the newly named members bar named after Felice Ciampi who has given the club over 18 years of loyal service. • We have a new grandstand which has only happened through the generous contributions of the members. The contribution of materials and time have been outstanding and for this I would like to thank the Crema Group and Pronto Group who have been extremely generous in building something which we can all share.
Dallila Sabbadini President From time to time grand plans are made, communicated but often they amount to nothing. Sometimes this is due to a lack of funding or other resources. But most often this is due to a lack of desire and commitment. The success of this club depends on the degree to which the members, their committee and sub-committees converge on a common goal. I'm happy to say that this year I feel that we are making great strides in getting all parts of the club at all levels aligned behind one single purpose. At this year's Foundation Members dinner I reflected on the stages that the club had gone through and will go through. We've been through building and rejuvenation and now we are in what I call the "embracing" stage. Here is where we continue to develop the club, embrace its strengths and challenges in order to secure its future. This has been the focus of your committee this past year. You are all aware of the changes the club has gone through in the past few years. Now we are in a position to build on those changes as the club continues to evolve. Some of these achievements have been significant and some of them less so — however they all have one thing in common they continue to improve the club and cement its future viability. The club has undergone a number of physical improvements that are aimed at protecting the investment we have made. Some of these items are just part of the regular maintenance of the club, however ignoring them and not having a rigorous schedule of maintenance and development will only undermine all that we have achieved. It is with pride that I share a few of those achievements with you: • We have refurbished the board room and the library and lounge area to bring them more up to date with the overall image of the club • The gondola area has been renovated through the hard work of our Associations
We have proven what I have always believed — that if you deliver a good product, with good service and manage it soundly, the results will look after themselves. As a consequence we are trading at record profits. Our forecast for the future is strong and while good financial management is imperative, gone are the days where we are worrying from one month to the next. The expertise we have built in managing this club and the success we have delivered is also evidenced by the approaches we have had from other Clubs. Each of these Clubs has approached us with a proposal for the Veneto Club to manage them. This is again a testament to the work Joe Morello, the committee and the way you, the members have embraced the changes at our club. The highly regarded leadership position that the Veneto Club holds in Victoria is exactly where we want our club to be. It is exactly where the Club should be. It is exactly where our founding members would want us to be. We are setting new standards for clubs. We are driving change and having positive impact across the community. We should be proud that we are realizing our forefathers' vision. Looking forward we can see more changes to gaming and increased revenue opportunities from new services, our sporting facilities and subcommittees, and annual events aimed at attracting new young members. Gaming has always been a core part of our revenue and we have been working hard over the last 18 months to prepare for the purchase of our gaming machines. While it will require a significant investment and commitment from the club, the positive impact on returns is very substantial. The committee and management have worked hard to ensure we are in the best possible position to benefit from the changes that the government has put in place. This investment will go even further towards securing the club's future. Our Manager, Joe Morello whilst having driven us to greater
VENETO CLUB - 2010 ANNUAL REPORT - PAGE 6
profitability and new levels of professionalism, has not lost any of his drive and energy. He continues to deliver great results while holding true to the long held and valued spirit of our club. We have seen record growth in the registrations and success of junior football and we are now the envy of all junior football clubs not only in the state but probably nationally. The new artificial turf pitch has repositioned us as a sporting destination. We have spent a lot of effort over the past 2 years making sure that football at the Veneto Club is in good shape. The committee has sometimes been criticised for this. I would point out however; that football is a vital attraction for the club as it brings youth through the door. Through young players and their families we have an opportunity to build tomorrow's members thus hopefully building our future. This year we want to officially acknowledge the work of our volunteers by announcing the inaugural "Volunteer of the Year Award". This award will go in part towards recognising the great contribution that our volunteers make. While physical changes are important I am most proud of what we have achieved in less tangible ways for the club. There is a new confidence at the Veneto Club — we are once again walking with our heads held high as the proudest and strongest Italian club in the land We have a sound reporting and operational structure at most
if not all levels of the club from the committee to the subcommittees and of course through management — no one person is greater than this club and that is the way it must remain. I cannot close without thanking the committee and subcommittees for all their hard work and commitment; the ladies auxiliary and associations for their continued and priceless support. And the volunteers for once again, making an invaluable contribution to the club. So going forward I would like to challenge the new committee and subcommittees to continue to improve. I expect that same challenge to be taken up by our manager and staff, and I also expect that you, the members will hold me and my committee to that same standard. In closing I would like to thank you for the support you have given your committee this year. A big thank-you to the committee, the management, and all the great staff at this club for their efforts. This year that has given me great personal satisfaction and a sense of achievement. We have all played a part in making this club the great club that it is. Finally, from the bottom of my heart I want to thank my husband and daughter for their continued support and encouragement throughout the year. Thank you.

Can soci,
Ignorarli avrebbe voluto dire mettere in pericolo tutto it buon lavoro fatto futora.

A partire da quest'anno vogliamo ufficialmente riconoscere i meriti dei volontari e abbiamo istituito il "Volunteer of the Year Award".

What a year. This past year the Club has experienced an elevated success due to a lot of work and committment from the Committee which I thank and am proud to be a part of.
Passion, pride, determination and diligence. These are the words that describe the men who consolidated their dreams to build what is now the Veneto Club of Melbourne. Now approaching it's 44th year, those pioneers must feel pride indeed, to see how much the club has grown.
Firstly I would like to thank Joe Morello, our Club Manager and his staff for their tireless and ongoing committment to make our Bistro and functions to be talked about. As a result the Club is experiencing an influx of patronage, our Bistro is a huge success due to the ongoing committment of the Chef and his staff who are always coming up with great new tastes. A huge thankyou to our Ladies Auxiliary and volunteers who have always given their time unconditionally, without their help and input a lot of the activities and traditional events would fade away. It gives me great satisfaction in seeing members enjoying what the club has to offer. The success of football is increasng our membership and doing us proud. Overall, it has been a challenging and very successful year and look forward to the year ahead.
Giampaolo Sgarbossa
Vice President
It is reassuring and comforting to see the club progress. We have excelled in so many areas. Sport is our number one! Recognized especially in football, excellent facilities, coaching and technical support makes the Club an enviable contender in this field. Tennis, bocce, squash, golf are other important components in the sports arena, with the club always being asked to house new sporting arenas. The bistro continues to impress. It is well recognized for it's excellent standard of cuisine and service, and is now serving traditional recipes from the Veneto region. Our founders would surely be proud to see the club in this capacity, securing that their dreams were not in vain. The Veneto culture in Melbourne, is now recognized, practiced and admired due to their hard work, determination, and true Italian spirit. I encourage you all to embrace what was their inspiration and dream, and is now a proud establishment, filled with history, tradition and true Veneto spirit.

Secretary's R are really abuzz. In amongst all the activity, I'd like to call out some of our recent developments that will potentially shape the future of the Club.
Amalia Grassi Secretary In my first term as Club Secretary, the focus was to put the necessary steps in place to financially strengthen the Club and to make it a vibrant and pleasurable place to frequent for our members and guests. Balance sheet strength, building our brand and risk management, were, and still are, our key strategic priorities. Now in my second term, it is satisfying to see all the plans and strategies which we began to build on and continue to build on, are really gaining momentum and the benefits, I am pleased to report, are being realized. It is evident that the Club has been successfully transformed because the social and sporting areas

Our vision from the onset was to position the Club to deliver superior services which our members and guests value. We have been developing and refining our infrastructure and systems to ensure quality and efficiency in our products, services and activities. Under the guidance of our General Manager, Joe Morello, we are moving towards service and operations excellence, streamlining our end-to-end processes, integrating our new service offerings into our operating model and uplifting our capability with skilled, motivated and high performing staff. In our quest for continuous improvement, we have been proactively identifying gaps in all facets of the business. We have invested in key personnel with specific skills aligned to our streams of business, such as food and beverages, gaming, event management, administration, sports and culture. Job descriptions are in the process of being revised and a new performance appraisal system which will reflect accountability and provide incentive to drive bottom line profit is being developed and will be implemented for the new financial year. It is imperative that we have a knowledgeable, cross-skilled and dedicated management team which is weaved into our succession and risk management plan, particularly as we face into change with the new gaming license legislation. We are in the process of developing a new system, which will track and measure our business performance as well as provide transparency when reporting results. Thanks to the efforts of Tino Campesato, together with other Committee members, we can also look forward to a revised and up-to-date Constitution which will make it-relevant to our current state of play. Overall, the Committee is taking the necessary action to ensure that the Club adapts to the changing demands of our competitive business environment. We are fortunate to have an extremely passionate and committed President, Dallila Sabbadini, who works tirelessly to direct the Club and "lead the way" forward. Her ability to push ahead and achieve the Club's objectives, despite the many challenges and obstacles which are often presented, is truly commendable. We are proud and grateful to have Joe Morello who consistently proves that success is not only achieved through hard work and having business nous but also through inspirational leadership. Finally, thanks to the Committee and staff who together with Joe and Dallila continue to position the Club to be on path to achieve relative outperformance.

Treasurer's Report will report on these auction results at the AGM. Finally, I stress that the key to the Club's financial future is maximising the use of all its assets. This will not only generate greater revenue but also ensure we have the funding to properly maintain those same Club assets and improve member facilities. We have a number of function rooms, bars, sporting facilities (such as a basketball court, gymnasium, bocce courts, squash courts, tennis courts and both synthetic and natural turf soccer pitches) that must be used for both Club and community functions to generate maximum revenue for the Club. A target for the coming year must be the increase use of these assets above cun-ent levels. We must also consider and develop alternative revenue streams using the strengths this Club has successfully built up over time. I'd like to acknowledge the work effort that was contributed by all the volunteers (especially the Ladies Auxiliary), the management, the staff, the committee and all the subcommittees of the Club. The members also deserve special thanks for their continued support.
Tino Campesato Treasurer Dear Members, We should all be happy with the end of year financial result in what was always going to be a very difficult year. The Club, through good management, was well prepared to face the challenges of the past year, and we have improved on last year's financial position.
Tino Campesato Treasurer
The past financial year highlights a number of highs and lows, which include: HIGHS — Second year of consecutive profits — Refurbishment of member areas —Refurbishment of main entrance staircase —Securing the first 40 gaming machine licenses — Running and upkeep of the new synthetic soccer turf LOWS —Inadequate level of building maintenance The highs far outweigh the lows, and the fast approaching State Government Gaming Machine Arrangements will provide a strong focus and objective for the next two years. The building of our cash reserves over these same two years is necessary for a smooth transition to the new Gaming Machine Arrangements and will ensure the Club does not over extend it's loan liabilities. Ideally, we would like to avoid any additional bank loans. if at all possible. The new Gaming Machine Arrangements have the potential to greatly influence the operations and profitability of the Veneto Club for the next decade. It is an issue that deserves the full attention of all Club members, committee and staff. To date, we have secured the licenses for the first 40 gaming machines. By the time you read this report, we will have taken part in an auction for the remaining 50 gaming machines that are required by the Veneto Club. This auction is scheduled for mid May. We

General Manager's Report is not an easy task, but the dedication and professionalism of our team made these nights memorable for all concerned. Other memorable events included the Presidents Dinner, Sagra Di San Marco, Christmas Eve (despite the weather), Foundation Members' Dinner and Anniversary Dinner. Consolidating the financial position of the club has been imperative with the gaming auction that took place on the 10th May. The result has allowed the Veneto Club to secure its future with successful purchase of 90 gaming machine entitlements at a very fair and reasonable price. With the licensing process virtually complete we can now turn our attention to negotiating with suppliers for the actual machines and service maintenance and ancillary contracts that need to be in place for 2012.
Joe Morello
General Manager The past year has been one of consolidation for the Veneto Club. Improvements in the team structure, buildings and a focus on the new gaming allocation post 2012 has ensured all team members have been kept extremely busy. We have also been able to improve the quality and service within the club, as proven by the constant high level of attendance at the club. The last year has seen a number of changes in the management team at the Club. We have welcomed these new team members in functions Fabio, Jesika & Adam and Brett in Operations who have brought their experience and skills to the club, to help improve the hospitality we provide. The club is constantly booked with functions and events, and it is a credit to the team that our function rooms and bistro are constantly busy with happy clients. It is also pleasing to see the cross pollination of our facilities within the functions and events. Things like corporate Bocce days other sporting events and the increased involvement with local schools that utilize the facilities as part of their curriculum for sporting days and cooking classes. We have also held a number of memorable club functions over the last 12 months. Christmas Day and New Years Eve stand out in my mind as a case in point of how far the club has come. Serving 5 course meals to 800 people over 4 rooms
Although we have focused on consolidating the finances, we have also been able to improve the clubs plant and buildings in a number of ways. The bistro umbrella and heating system was installed, the main staircase was re-carpeted, the gondola room was re-carpeted, the entire first level was painted, new furniture was purchased for the members' bar and private dining and the gondola pond was refurbished. All of these activities required considerable time and finances, and I would like to thank the Associations for their contribution to the gondola. The club is thriving, and this would not be possible without the tireless efforts of our committee and team of volunteers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dallila and her team, as well as all of the volunteers who continue to help make the club grow. My thanks also go to every staff member for their efforts and commitment. This club could not continue to succeed with out the dedication of all of these people. Finally, my gratitude goes to my family, Rose, Ben and Natasha, for their understanding of the time I spend at work.

Vi sono state diverse feste sociali durante i 12 mesi trascorsi.

Veneto Club 2010 - Golf Veneto Club Golf was formed at the end of 2004 and played its first game on Sunday 6th February 2005 at Kingston Links and its 50th milestone game on Sunday the 8th November 2009 at the Ringwood Golf Course. Our Golf Club is scheduled to play 10 games in 2010.
The Committee would like to recognize and congratulate each of these two members, Luigi Martini and Paola Peruzzo, for their great contribution to the club's continued success over its first 5 years.
The inaugural game in 2005, the 50th game in November 2009 and the 5 games played so far this year have by all accounts and as noted by personal observation been played and contested with a sense of fun, lots enthusiasm and much controlled competitiveness.
As per previous years, both by observation and by all reports the ten games played have all been a great success each with the right mix of competitiveness, fun and social interaction between members.
Membership
The 2009 Veneto Club Golf Championship was contested and decided on the aggregate results of the 10 annual games played monthly from February through to November.
2009 Championship Results
Membership numbers over the past 6 years have been fairly steady: 2005: 44 members ( 39 men and 5 ladies ) 2006: 43 mambers ( 38 men and 5 ladies ) 2007: 39 mambers ( 34 men and 5 ladies ) 2008: 52 mambers ( 47 men and 5 ladies ) 2009: 48 mambers ( 43 men and 5 ladies ) 2010: 45 mambers ( 41 men and 4 ladies ) New members are always very welcomed. In particular we invite and seek an increase in our ladies membership. So we encourage all ladies who have an interest in golf to come along and join our current group of lady golfers ......whether you are an experienced low handicapper or an enthusiastic beginner our club has something to offer.
Participation Awards for the Period 2005 - 2009 A club's success or otherwise is dependent on and is the result of many factors and contributions. One of these is the frequency and regularity of participation by members in the monthly game. Member's participation in the monthly games like the membership numbers has been steady: 2005 - 58% 2006 — 55% 2007 — 47% 2008 — 50% 2009 — 56% Average member participation over the 5 years is 53%. Without members playing regularly each month the club would not have enjoyed the success that it has. The Golf Committee would like to acknowledge and commend all of the Veneto Club Golf members for their participation during the 5 years 2005 to 2009 and two members in particular, as having made a great contribution in this period. One, a male member, has played 47 of the possible 50 games and has not missed a game in the last 4 years. A participation rate of 94%. The average male participation rate being 55%
The games were all played and scored on the stableford format. As for 2007 & 2008 the winner was to be decided on the result of the final November game and could have been won by any one of 6 players. The Club Championship results were announced at the Club Championship Presentation Night on Saturday 14th November 2009 and was well attended by members.
2009 Championship Results are: Winner: John Piper Total point Score: 56.00 points. Handicap of 12 Runner-Up: Ron Corsi Total point Score: 43.67points. Small Sided Football (SSF) at FC Bulleen Lions continues to develop and demand has hit all time highs. In season 2010 we have 430 registered small sided football players which includes children aged from 5 to 11 years old. The popularity of Small Sided Football at FC Bulleen Lions is evidenced in the fact that we had to close our books and now have children on waiting lists in the event that a vacancy may appear.
furniture whilst they practice juggling inside their homes in preparation for Ability Assessments. FC Bulleen Lions provides a progressive SSF package that is well received and regarded across the greater football Community. The future of SSF at FC Bulleen Lions is secure.
Jim Peios SSF Co-Ordinator
Our SSF community is divided into 39. teams with the majority of coaches being parent volunteers. All coaches are educated with a minimum GrassRoots Coaching accreditation and have participated in coaching workshops undertaken by the SSF Co-ordinator. The SSF program is prepared, implemented and administered by the SSF Coordinator with the endorsement of the Technical Director. This ensures a unified approach across all our SSF community, that culminates in a structured progression of players throughout the SSF age groups. In season 2010 we introduced the High Ability Program into our under 11 groups. Our High Ability Program provides players with the best development opportunities with a view that they will one day represent FC Bulleen at Senior level. We have also introduced Ability Assessments into our SSF program. This has generally been well received, apart from the odd complaint by parents of having their children damage

Veneto Club 2010 - Women's Football Power to the Girls! Women's Football at FC Bulleen Lions is entering very exciting times. The Women's Football department experienced enormous on field success in the 2009 season winning three Championship and two Runners Up flags. However the real success was in the growth in the number of girls who are now a very valuable part of the FC Bulleen Lions Football family. We know that Womens Football continues to experience rapid exponential growth in Australia but it is FC Bulleen Lions' (The Club) ability to attract and capture this growth which is the real success story. In fact, we are now a top 10 club in Victoria for number of girl/women teams registered to play.
So how can you be part of these exciting times? Women's football also need the FC Bulleen Lions' and Veneto Club communities to get behind them through player participation, sponsorship, committee volunteers, assisting coaches, team managers and general administrative support. If you are interested in supporting Womens football then please contact David Del Monaco on 040 991 6798 or Davedel@live.com.au.

Football Operations Manager - Women

A newly developed role of Sports Function Manager has been introduced to have a specific focus dedicated to our sporting facilities to ensure they operate to their fullest potential. Since joining the Club I have been working on many projects to utilize our sporting facilities during their down times. My first initiative was the idea of developing an "Italian Cultural Day" for schools in the surrounding area. These days would allow the students to become involved with soccer, bocce and have a delicious Italian lunch. The reply was overwhelming and our first school Tempelstowe Valley Primary School visited here for two consecutive days in April. This involved children from Grades 3 and 4 for the first day and Grades 5 to 6 for the second day. There were approximately 130 kids each day. Specifically the program involved a soccer clinic which was run by two of our Senior Bulleen Lions players Martin Mason and John Crivelli and bocce tuition with Aldo and Emilio who generously volunteered their time. After an active start the students sat down to enjoy lunch consisting of pizzas and gelato. The kids had a ball, the feedback was very enthusiast. As a result of everyone's hard work on the day, the school has decided to make the day a yearly event, and are also considering using our sports facilities weekly for their school sports program. Interest about this program has been positive and I look forward to bringing more schools into our facilities. A spin off was created from this, while meeting with Marcellin College we organized for them to come to the Veneto Club for cooking classes With David Gauci (Head Chef). The students loved the experience so much that this is also going to become a regular occurrence at the Club. The cooking classes will now be incorporated within their Italian studies curriculum at school. My latest initiative has been increasing our corporate functions revenue. Initiatives such as Manningham Council versus Banyule Council Soccer Match which was very successful and will now be ongoing. Most recently with Melbourne Victory, where their Sponsor Hyundai, was invited to have a session with some Melbourne Victory players, on the Veneto Club synthetic pitch followed by a cocktail party within the Club. They were so happy that they have booked with us for a further ten sessions with their sponsors.
I'm becoming highly involved with the FC Bulleen Lions, building an even stronger relationship with committee, players and management. This has led me to becoming heavily involved in the general day to day operations of the football club. On top of this the Clubs senior games which are held on alternate Monday nights at the Club during the soccer season. Members and guests are more than welcome to attend and support the team. I am looking forward to the challenges of the following year, with sporting functions being booked at an amazing rate it is going to make for a fantastic year. There are many exciting developments going forward into next year and beyond, showing that the Veneto Club is definitely back on the map as a recognized premier sporting facility. I am enjoying my role relishing in the opportunity to market the facility, and having the facilities being used to their fullest potential. I would like to thank the staff and members at the Veneto Club for making my transition into the role of Sports Function Manager such an enjoyable experience.

My most challenging but rewarding role at the Veneto Club since my employment, has been working with the Manningham Council to repair lost communication. The council has been delighted to have a single person to deal with, on the Club's behalf and the relationship has been strengthened to the point where the council has offered free advertising of the Club's facilities on their website.

The functions team has been restructured over the past year and is now made up of three different and highly qualified function managers - Jesika Shand, Fabio Carnevale and Adam McKay. The skillset and experience that this team has brought to the Veneto Club has allowed the functions department to flourish over 2009/10. The Club has continued to expand it's functions base and the varied functions and events that we have been able to accommodate have made the Club a fantastic destination for many companies and individuals.
all the staff for making these two events, as well as the rest of the year, such an enjoyable experience. The team is looking forward to the coming twelve months with great expectations of continuing to promote the Veneto Club with guests and members alike.
Jesika Shand Fabio Carnevale Functions Managers
Over the last twelve months the Club has had weddings, engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, communions, formals, gala balls, product launches, training courses, seminars and corporate bonding events amounst others. On top of this the functions team has helped coordinate all the Club functions held inside the venue. The Club is now regarded as an excellent function venue within the community and as having the ability to cater to almost any requirement. The highlight for the team was the successful staging of the Christmas Day Luncheon and the New Years Eve Extravaganza. Catering a four course lunch on the biggest family of the year is a scary prospect but the day ran smoothly and we all received positive feedback. New Years Eve saw over 800 people attend the Club to see in the new year. With a five course menu and frivolity lasting well past midnight, the night was a roaring success. Our thanks go to David and the kitchen team as well as

Gilberto "Beppi" Crema 18/07/23-05/12/09 Treviso Written by Beppis' Grandaughter Our nonno died on Saturday 5th December 2009, at 86 years of age. We have so many good memories of nonno as he loved to have fun. He also worked very hard when he was younger, but as he got older, he left it up to his sons, while he enjoyed himself with nonna. He loved going to the Veneto Club as he would catch up with all of his friends. They would enjoy each others company whilst singing their favourite old Italian songs. He always told the stories of before the Veneto Club was built. They would attend dinner dances at the San Remo Ballroom and then have dinner on Sunday nights at the Baracca. He said he worked hard with so many other members while building the Veneto'Club, of which he enjoyed until the end. My nonno's last lunch was in fact at the 'Veneto Club on Thursday 22nd October 2009 with nonna, Luciano, Romeo, Louis and Nives. For my nonno, that in fact was his last supper. Nonna said he could not have had it at a better place. In fact. he had one of his old favourites, polenta and cotechino. We had so many good times together, as my dad and uncles always said, we are lucky to have had such great memories. Nonno is now resting peacefully together with his mum, dad and brothers. We will always remember him, as when we think of nonno, he always puts a smile on our faces.
Davide Barbieri 02/09/25-20/01/09 Vicenza The Veneto Club was extremely saddened at the passing of Davide Barbieri last year. David was born in Vicenza on 2 September 1925 and passed away on 20 January 2009. We wish to acknowledge the huge contribution that David made to the Veneto Club for over 27 years that he was a member of the Main Committee. David joined the Committee in June 1981 and served the Club firstly as a Committee member and then for seven years from 1990 until 1997 as Vice Resident. During those years, David worked tirelessly as a volunteer in many areas of the Club, in the Sala San Marco Buffet on Sundays, at the various picnics and festas held at the Club, but in particular he was the Committee person responsible for the Bottle Shop for many years. David will long be remembered by the Veneto family for his dedication, and for his friendly attitude to everyone that he came in contact with at our Club. He will be sadly missed.
