President's Report
I
n my year as president, the theme of my term was always going to be change. Members have been informed at previous annual general and extraordinary meetings that the Club has not travelled well over the past few years. Cash reserves have dried up and our Members are not pleased. Unfortunately this has been the case. The plan of this Committee, has always been to revitalise the Club and give members the benefits they deserve. To achieve
Frank Rossato President
this, actions had to be taken for the immediate and long term future to improve the usage and profitability of the facility. Following is a summary of what has been achieved to date and what still needs to be actioned:Achieved.... • The reappointment of our General Manager, Joe Morello. Development of a short and long term strategic plan • Development of an achievable budget • The continued and ongoing improvement of
quality food and quality service Review of membership structure and fees which will give Members transparent benefits. (This is subject to Member approval.) • Member approval for the relocation and modernisation of the bistro and gaming to the ground floor together with new al fresco dining and smoking areas • Member approval to convert portions of the mezzanine floor into a private area for Members. This would include a bar and card playing area • Member approval to convert portions of the mezzanine floor into alternate general entertainment and function areas e.g. bingo, conference facilities, private parties Future Actions.... • Continued ongoing improvement of quality food and service. The refurbishment and relocation of the bistro and gaming to the ground floor and creation of alfresco areas • The conversion of the mezzanine floor as outlined above • Development of a new bistro menu and quality service facilities acceptable to members and the wider community • Subject to member approval, the review and update of our constitution to bring it in line with current operations and trends • Marketing of the improved facility • Promotion of new Club memberships • Promotion of our sporting and recreational facilities • Encourage facility usage by the younger generation • Encourage greater participation and involvement of our Associations • Promotion of corporate and function facilities •
The Committee will continue in its endeavour to achieve whatever is necessary to bring the Club back to the status it deserves. The Club is in an ideal location with excellent facilities and amenities. We need the support of all Members to pick up on this theme and make ours a vibrant and active Club. On a traditional note we must continue to enlarge on and promote our popular Member events i.e. the Club Anniversary, the Christmas Picnic, Una Notte Sotto Le Stelle, the Sagra di San Marco, the Castagnata and our involvement in the Festa Della Repubblica. Our sports are very popular, in particular soccer and bocce. Soccer is extremely well represented in senior ranks by the Bulleen Zebras. Our junior soccer base is growing and we must give our youngsters the opportunity of promotion to senior ranks. Junior soccer
VENETO CLUB - 2005106 Annual Report - Page 06
has been particularly supportive of the Club, both financially and in their contribution towards improvement of the soccer playing area. Bocce has also been generous in their support. Basketball, tennis, squash and not forgetting the Gymnasium, all are thriving, and the possibilities, especially for younger generations are endless. Our Associations and their members are all part of our traditions and we need them to keep the Veneto tradition going and to be a constant living reminder of our past heritage. The volunteers, where can we possibly start to thank them. It is extremely hard to express in words what is required to even begin a thank you process. The Ladies Auxiliary, spend countless hours of toil to save club labour costs. The Maintenance Group, the thousands of dollars saved by the tireless efforts of these loyal men. There are many other members who contribute of their time such as our sporting Sub-Committees. These are the people that form part of the backbone of the Club and we
should all be constantly aware of what they do. Our staff led by General Manager, Joe Morello, is doing a sterling job, in at times difficult circumstances. We look forward to their continued service and leadership in guiding the club into the future. We have the base to reactivate this beautiful Club. Let's be positive and go for it. Finally I thank all my Committee for their time and effort in steering the Club in a new direction. I believe that together with our Members we can build a firm foundation for ourselves and future generations. Frank Rossato President

I "Volontari", come possiamo adeguatamente cominciare a ringraziarli?
First Vice-President's Report
ear Members,
All affairs of the Veneto Club have been explained to you in the various other reports, so I will briefly touch on the subjects of Membership and committee. As you know, the membership base has sat at around 1900 members for a number of years. Last year however, membership declined by 600 which is cause for great concern. This year, as at the time of going to print, only approx 800 members have renewed their annual subscription. Clearly the members, or rather should I say the ex members have made quite a statement. Therefore, at this point I would like to assure you that committee is reviewing the entire membership structure and fees, and these will be presented to you at the Annual General Meeting for approval. To club members wishing to nominate for committee, it is extremely important (a) that you have the time to spare (any task requires a great deal of time and effort if it is to be done properly), and (b) that you understand fully the "Fiduciary" duties and "Statutory" duties of committee members. It is a committee persons duty to be actively involved so that he or she has a full understanding of the Club and how it operates. Whilst Management is the duty of the Manager, Policy is the responsibility of committee, and a committee person cannot implement policy if he or she does not have full understanding of the club operations, and does not recognize the importance of the culture and traditions of it's members. To all members, it is the duty of each and every one of you to truly consider the candidates, think very carefully before casting your vote. If you are not confident in the ability or commitment of a candidate it is you duty to say so. (Never accept the unacceptable). Finally, my sincere thanks go to all the wonderful people who have contributed to the life of our Club. President and Committee, all our Sports Sub Committees, Associations of the Veneto Region, the Maintenance Committee, Ladies Auxiliary and all members of staff. At this point I would really like to acknowledge
Ketti Pezzin 1st Vice President
some of the people with whom I have worked very closely during the past 12 months. My committee colleague Giulio Lunardi and our General Manager Joe Morello, it's been a privilege working with you, and the members are indeed very fortunate to have you "on board". The Administration team, Tony Squillaciotti, Rosina, Julie, Marina and Michael thank you for your contribution which has been well and truly over and above your call of duty. To Paola Peruzzo and her wonderful group of ladies, John Peruzzo, Giovanni Cattapan and Frank Pezzin (the three musketeers), Fury & Grace Bortolotto, and Rino Tessarotto, your contribution has been invaluable and a million thanks go to you all. To all the guys of the "Sabato" club thank you for what you have achieved. And finally, a big thank you to all the members who so loyally support our club. We look forward to your continued support and seeing you often at our premises. Ketti Pezzin, 1st. Vice President.

THE VOLUNTEERS
T
he last 1 2 months have been a period of great change for the Veneto Club. Together we have managed to change some of the core processes and operating principles in the Club allowing us to give you, the members, improved levels of service and a Club focused on your needs. We have built a committee that is truly working as a team, focused on serving the members of the Club and delivering a best in class Club. The committee prides itself in providing transparent and sound governance for the Club and to this end has made great ground in this past year. We have only started this journey and still have a long way to go. The committee cannot achieve results on its own. It takes a large and varied number of people to make the
Veneto Club one of Australia's leading Italian social/sports Club. This year we have employed a first class Club manager who is delivering improved services while managing costs. Joe Morello must be commended not only on his hard work but his professional approach. Joe has delivered tangible results in cost savings and process improvements. Of equal importance is the environment he has created for staff and members, an environment of openness, teamwork and accountability. Our Club would not exist without the significant and indispensable contribution of our volunteers. While sometimes overlooked, the Ladies' Auxiliary and the Maintenance Committee provide an invaluable service to our Club. The Maintenance Committee are always working behind the scenes to ensure that the Club and its facilities are maintained to the highest standards and at the lowest cost. In addition to their fund raising for needy organisations, the Ladies' Auxiliary works tirelessly in supporting the Club's many social functions. Their work saves the Club many thousands of dollars every year. We are working towards improving the working relationship with the Club's sporting bodies which are an integral part of our future. Whether bocce, golf, squash, shooting, or tennis, the committee takes great pride in the success of its sporting groups. A mention must be made of our soccer bodies in particular the junior soccer group that has almost 500 juniors playing with them. Junior Soccer provides a foundation for the Club's future growth. The Junior Soccer sub-Committee is made up of volunteers who are motivated by creating a fun, safe and challenging environment where our junior soccer players can grow and develop. As I have mentioned in the past it has been an honour for me to be part of the Veneto Club Committee and thank the committee members for the hard work albeit a lot of it behind the scenes. As the year comes to a close it's a good time to look back, reflect on achievements and look forward to see what still needs to be accomplished . While we have made great progress this year, our steps have been small and we must continue to work together as a Club to maintain the momentum we have created. Dallila Sabbadini 2nd Vice-President

image that commands the attention of potential members and the general community. Most importantly it needs to do it now. The Veneto Club, or any like club, cannot ever raise its total operating revenue directly from Club members. The Club needs to market itself to the wider community.
ear Members,
We have unavoidably entered a difficult and defining phase in the survival journey and history of our club.
Financially our Club has not been strong over recent years. It is clear that the Club, despite its diverse facilities,
We now live in a community that is less 'tribal'. We are a multicultural community. The Club needs to cater for a wide range of people from differing backgrounds. The Club needs to be such that members and 'patrons' would want to come here because of the convenience, the ease of parking, the accessibility, the atmosphere and the range and affordability and quality of products and services offered. The Veneto Club needs to strive and set its aim to regain the mantle that it has lost. It can do this by representing and offering the best that is aspired to in a Club. The Veneto Club must recreate itself. Members and patrons of any club are no longer automatically dazzled by anything a club may offer. Their expectations have reached soaring heights and this is fully acceptable. Members and patrons can appear on occasions to be ungrateful. The message is we can never take anything for granted. You need to work hard everyday to service and cater to the membership. The members expect the Club to provide and cater to their needs and that is why they become members. The viability of any club today is far less predictable then it was in the past. You have to look at each club activity/offer in its own right. Members and patrons need to be looked at as separate entities. That means you need to understand, listen to, sympathise with, interpret and above all respect and cater to their separate needs. We need to recognise that with increasing education, income and social mobility comes an increasing degree of individualisation, a reduced acceptance of corporate values, and an increasing search for diversity and personal development. For our Club or any Club to succeed it needs to respond to and cater to these characteristics. Our Club cannot continue along its current path:
Giulio Lunardi Honorary Secretary
Membership is declining (current ageing membership cannot sustain the Club now or in the future)
is not adequately meeting the needs of its members or the wider community.
Club facilities are under utilised by the members.
The Veneto Club was the 'flagship' of Italian clubs and must aspire to regain this mantle.
The original reason for the establishment of the Veneto Club has waned.
A major leap is required in our vision if we are to transcend the multitude of identified problems, which if addressed individually could absorb all our resources without leading to any major success.
Club industry in general is in terminal decline. The traditional club market is now well serviced by commercial businesses.
The Club's current lack of 'offer' does not and cannot entice people into or maintain membership and the Club needs to establish 'new gateways'. The Club needs to re-create itself and promote an
The Veneto Club must decide some fundamental questions. Why is the Club in business? What will the Club's membership and patrons
VENETO CLUB - 2005/V6 Annual Report - Page 13
require from the Club and what are to be its measures of success? Your Committee has developed a strategic plan for our Club and therefore these decisions no longer run the risk of being made out of context or without relevance to considered strategy or direction. The strategic plan provides for the immediate and long term future of the Veneto Club: Who to target as future members/customers/patrons What to offer to them. Product and service offer. Restructure the membership and member benefits. Improve the facilities and quality of service and product We have a big challenge ahead, Committee and Members alike, but it's important to remember some of the things that made this Club what it was and what it will be again. This Club was built on the values of the Veneto emigrant an individual with strong emphasise in family, an emphasise on community, a respect for values, an ethos to hard and committed work. It is up to us collectively now to keep alive our Club, the 'fruit' of their effort. We should pause a moment and reflect on the extraordinary achievements of our Club over its near 40 year history. The Veneto Club has much to be proud of; much has been achieved to the credit and reputation of our Club. Nothing that we should talk about in any boastful terms but realistically and soberly saying that the Veneto Club has always provided a leadership role among Italian clubs. An appeal to all the Associations of the Veneto Region: it's very necessary that we recognize that we have a common future together and a common destiny together. We strive for a common ideal. Let's be supportive of each other, there is strength in unity. We have a remarkable opportunity to secure and implement those changes and reforms that will guide this club well into the first quarter of the 21st century. We need to embrace this opportunity now and in the years ahead so as to achieve and plant the seeds required to recreate and leave a legacy as enviable as that collectively achieved and left by the Club's foundation members, its past committees and all of the Veneto Club members over the past four decades. Be assured that everyone in our club and the Committee in particular want and seek success. Planning and preparation is and has been paramount. Problems and issues have been identified and are been addressed. An ongoing analysis of club offers and operations has been set in place and this will lead to continuous improvement in the club. Goal setting for results has been initiated and formalised, the goals are clear and attainable.
A continual monitoring of the Club's progress toward goal accomplishment will ensure that we stay on track. We need to recognise that new and growing membership is and will be the lifeblood of our club and its level of service. Concurrent with the planned refurbishment we need to have and commence an aggressive, year long membership campaign with weekly and monthly goals to be achieved. We need to ensure that both new and long standing members are actively involved with and regularly patronise the club. I am going to say something in support of and commend the members for their overwhelming 'YES" vote for the proposed re-furbishment works at the EGM in February earlier this year. We will inevitably continue to have a variety of views about what directions the Club should take. Lessons have been learnt and understandings gained. The Club cannot rest on its laurels. The members have made the right decision in support of the proposed re-furbishment. Our President, and indeed your Committee are persons of great personal integrity, and conscience and dedication and feel very strongly about Club issues. You may or may not agree on all these issues but it's very important that we have people who still believe in causes and issues as well as making sure that the continuity of the club's heritage is maintained and fostered. There is less artificiality about some of our strengths now than was the case in the halcyon days. Our club has a great sporting strength, a great sporting potential. Let's nurture, develop and promote it. It is one of our Club's greatest assets. It is appropriate, now at the beginning of this new millennium, to re-develop and rejuvenate the Club to meet and cater to the needs of not just Veneti, but all Italians and the broader community for the next 25 years. As is evident our Club premises are in need of services remediation and facilities renovation. The range and the standard of facilities in the Club are being reviewed and will be re-structured and rejuvenated to meet the ever increasing needs and standards of current and future members and of identified community patronage. We need to provide new and improved facilities easily accessed by Members, offering space and facilities for leisure, social, dining, sporting and gaming. We need to accept that our membership and numbers will be driven by the facilities and by the style and quality of them. The rejuvenated interiors will be designed to make people feel comfortable, be elegant without being opulent, well appointed, and designed to draw in members and patrons in a warm and welcoming manner. The standard of planning, design and selection of materials and finishes needs to recognise the constraints of being an 'all-inclusive club' and the
VENETO CLUB - 2005/V6 Annual Report - Page 14
limitations imposed by a restrictive budget. The Veneto Club is a landmark facility in the Bulleen locality. The Club will aim to promote social interaction yet, provide spaces for members to retreat from pressures of everyday life. A Club is a personal space for many and the atmosphere created by the interior will support this. It will reflect a cosy, welcoming, traditional and residential feel. The vision is to be a Club for people. As stated earlier financially the club has not been strong over recent years. Arresting 'the decline' is the first step in this critical and defining journey that the Veneto Club must take for its survival. There are already signs that the Club can rebuild and resurrect itself The financial figures for the past 12 months clearly show that our General Manager, Joe Morello, has commenced to arrest the decline. Certainly there is still a long way to go. I unapologetically invite you the members to unreservedly support your club, be proud of your club, promote your club, become involved, and make a difference. The Veneto Club would never have been the Veneto Club we know and love without the support and loyalty of you its members.
As the new secretary the best way for me to start in July 2005 was to watch and learn, and in particular from our past club Secretary, Ketti Pezzin. She was able to give invaluable advice, hints and assistance on all aspects of our club and my secretarial duties and how best to handle the many and varied tasks. I am extremely appreciative of her continued assistance, support and guidance. Similarly my gratitude to the many club members who generously gave me the benefit of their wise counsel. To our President, Frank Rossato, and to my committee colleagues for a great team effort all in a climate of enthusiasm and openness. To all members of Staff, in particular administration. To our General Manager, Joe Morello, for his exemplary commitment to the Club cause. Finally a thank you to all our members who so loyally support and promote our great Club. Giulio Lunardi

VENETO CLUB - 2005P06 Annual Report - Page 15
club possa offrire.
Assicurarsi che ognuno net nostro Club e it Comitato in particolare voglia e cerchi it successo. Abbiamo appreso lezioni e guadagnato conoscenza. II Club non puo riposare sui suoi allori. I soci hanno preso la
VENETO CLUB - 2005P06 Annual Report - Page 16
decisione giusta appoggiando i proposti rinnovamenti.
mostrano che it nostro General Manager Joe Morello, ha iniziato a fermare it declino. Giulio Lunardi

Treasurer's Report ear Members,
The financial year just ended has continued to see a negative result for our club, placing further pressure on our overdraft. The main reasons for this loss were the continued decline in sales of food and beverage, particularly in the first half of the year, and the inheriting of various expenses which were generated in our previous 2 years of trading. It has been a difficult year, with extreme monetary limitations imposed by our bankers CBA, for the best part of this financial year. Hard decisions had to be implemented, which at times were not received cordially by our members and past committee, and for this we apologize. The changing of banks to the ANZ and an increased overdraft limit has certainly eased the day to day monetary pressures. The ANZ have also been content to receive detailed accounts quarterly (unlike the CBA Bank that requested detailed reporting monthly) and are quite satisfied with how the club is progressing through these trying times.

The loss incurred by our club last year was $365,603, and this financial year we have managed to reduce the loss to $220,000. We as a committee have been frustrated with extraordinary expenses throughout the year that under normal circumstances would not have occurred. Examples of this include Expenses for the water mains burst in April 2005, the settlement of fees with past employees & the write off of old stock. The Veneto Club is currently going through a tough period and requires solidarity from its members not criticism. For those who have shown true loyalty and support for the club, a special thank you. Two groups in particular that I express sincere gratitude too are the maintenance committee, and the Ladies Auxiliary committee, their tireless help and support is greatly appreciated. A special mention must also go to our General Manager Joe Morello, who has been relentless in his pursuit to negate any complaints from members and improve the food at our club. He has also been prepared
to make the tough decisions to minimize the expenditure of wages and consumables, in an attempt to turn our financial situation around. Thank you to the staff for their efforts and in many instances their voluntary support. The refurbishment of the club is well overdue, and is desperately required to bring us on an even playing field with that of our competitors. We must all embrace this new change. Once complete be excited and proud to tell all of your friends and family of the wonderful facilities on offer, and to visit our club. With the support and positive attitude of you, our members, we can once again become a strong and powerful club, a club that is proud of its tradition and the Veneto way of life.
General Manager's Report
I
t's been a very hectic time for me at the Veneto Club this past year. Firstly just trying to find my way around and meeting many of the people involved with the club in one way or another, has been nothing short of incredible, I say this because I am still so amazed at the number of people that offer so much time and effort to assist the club. I talk of the Ladies Auxiliary, the maintenance committee; members of all the 7 associations and other sponsors & supporters of the club who help out with time, effort, goods & money to ensure
that sales have been in decline for a few years now and in the past year we have managed to actually grow Beverage sales and Gaming sales whilst food sales are still down on last year, recent trends are showing an improvement. Our function trade is experiencing some very heavy bookings at the moment, so the outlook for this year is promising. Throughout the year we have introduced new initiatives that are proving very popular and at the same time adding variety to the club. Things like the Pasta deal on Monday Tuesday & Wednesday nights, originally it was only going to be in place for a couple of months however due to it's popularity it seems to be going from strength to strength. We have also now introduced a Thursday schnitzel special which is also becoming more and more popular. In an effort to attract new people and drive traffic within the club, I have booked a range of entertainment options which are proving to be a huge drawcard to the club. Shows like "Who let the Wogs Out", "Babba" or even an "Elvis Tribute Show". These shows are so popular we actually have to take bookings for them months in advance. Just recently I have also successfully negotiated to have Joe Avati appear in the club over 3 sessions in July. The next year will be one of the most challenging

the club can prosper. I should also mention the hard work that is done by all the sporting bodies to run their individual sports. All of the people mentioned make my job here easier to do. My focus since I commenced here has been to have consistency. Even before I tried to grow sales for the venue I needed to grasp the overall operations of the club. I believe we have come a long way in the last year in achieving this. Through our food quality and service improvements, together with many cost saving measures undertaken, the club is now starting to show signs of recovery. The club still operated at a loss for the year, although it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the result of the previous year. The encouraging thing for the club is

for the club probably since the club first opened. The pending renovation will reinvigorate the club and bring it up to current standards within the hospitality industry. It will be a year of great change, moving the gaming room and bistro downstairs will add a new dimension to the club and ensure the club will be a family friendly club that is easily accessible to all. The road ahead is still a very difficult one and will take a lot of effort from many people, the committee, management, staff and the generous volunteers who are never far away. I look forward to the challenge and hope that together we can bring the club back to it's former glory. Joe Morello General Manager

Joe Morello General Manager

A sincere thanks for your support and participation at our functions throughout the year. Together we have had a successful year and were able to make donations of $10,000 to the Lions House Foundation (special accommodation families of patients at Mercy & Austin Hospitals), $1,000 to Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal and also contributions to Camp Quality and Cancer Council. I would also like to make special mention and thank our Sunday Ladies for their commitment throughout the year. Without Bertilla Signor, Eugenia Pozzebon, Lucia Bordignon, Silvana Rigoni, Giorgia Rizzato, Gabriella Stocco, Mirella Rebeshcini, Paula Rebeschini, and the Ladies Auxiliary Committee members, we would not be able to continue with the family meals night in Sala Venezia every Sunday evening. Thank you also to Ketti Pezzin, Grace Bortolotto, Louisa Lunardi, Claudia Bassora, Sofia Martini, and Marisa Ferrari who have made themselves available on several occasions throughout the year when we have required extra assistance, to the Companies who have generously donated their products for our raffles and fundraising functions, to the Committee, Administration and all Staff of the Veneto Club for their support and assistance, and especially to "our" gentlemen Giancarlo Peruzzo, Giovanni Cattapan, Frank Pezzin and Fury Bortolotto who have helped us with some of the heavier work when required. quash has maintained a high level of activity throughout the Club with the enthusiasm of players from both teams.
Team 2, captained by Paul De Lutis managed to win the prestigious and ultimate goal of the pennant flag defeating their opponents quite convincingly, although I must admit, they were expected to win as they were not defeated all season. Congratulations to everyone in El, in the photo from left to right:-
Currently, we are in the last few weeks of the Autumn Season and maybe Team C4 have the possibility of playing in the finals.
Lou Dal Santo, Paul De Lutis, John Cassar, Dominic Nicolazzo and Bert Caneva (non playing President). Absent - Michael Nicolazzo.
Team 2 unfortunately have been struggling due to being in a higher grade and playing tougher opponents, are sitting in 8th• position in their Section.
The Best and Fairest player went to John Cassar Congratulations and Well Done. Next season this team will be upgraded to Dl. Team 1 Captained by Richard Smaldino had to struggle most of the season due to other commitments of players and a lack of reserves, but still managed 4th• place on the ladder.

NEW GENERATION VENETO (Young Adults)
A
n exciting initiative has occurred within the Victorian Veneto Community in 2005 / 2006. A group of younger-generation Australian Veneti, based in Melbourne, have established a new organization, known as New Generation Veneto. The age varies from early 20s through to late 40s. A website is being established as a means of communication for the younger Australian Veneti generations, as well as providing information about the group and its activities. The group's vision is as follows:
VISION OF THE NEW GENERATION VENETO - VICTORIA As a group of second and third generation Italians we wish to encourage the participation of the sons and daughters and grandchildren of the original founding members of the Veneto Club inclusive of all its substructures, committees and auxiliary groups. We further embrace everyone who participates and supports in future functions and events organized by the New Generation Veneto The NGV aims to maintain the cultural origins and to encourage the 'awareness' of the Veneto culture through the active participation in various events throughout the year. In so doing the objective is to foster cultural continuity in the first instance and that such functions will be viable and profitable for the Australian / Veneto community in the second instance. After developing a solid communication base within the 'younger' Melbourne Veneti the vision encompasses future liaison and networking with intrastate and interstate Veneti clubs, associations and

auxiliary groups and other such groups within the wider Italian community, with the scope of maintaining the Veneto culture. March 2006 (The NGV's Vision Statement) The NGV has been meeting on a monthly basis and is being supported by the Veneto Federation, which includes the various Associations the Vicentini, Trevisani, Padovani, Veronesi, Bellunesi & Comunita' Montana. Already a number of activities have been organised for 2006. They include: Snow weekend in July @ Harrietville / Mt Hotham Gala Evening @ Veneto Club in August Occasional functions such as Jazz nights @ Veneto Club; Winery outings; Oktoberfest; Report prepared by Mr. Bruno Spiller, President of the New Generation Veneto.

olf is a new sport for the Veneto Club. Our new golf club is called "Veneto Club Golf' and played its first game on Sunday 6th February 2005 at Kingston Links. The inaugural game and the entire 2005 season was a great success. The games were played and contested with a sense of fun, enthusiasm and competitiveness. Competition is held monthly throughout the year, and is contested vigorously by all members. With the format being to play only once a month on a different golf course, variety is not a problem and being only once a month this puts little pressure on precious family time. Prizes are an integral part of each monthly competition. The games are played using the Stableford format. Players score points on each hole according to a point system that takes into consideration each player's handicap. The monthly winner is the player with the highest score at the end of each game. The Veneto Club Golf Championship Cup is awarded to the player with the highest aggregate points score at the end of the season.

BULLEEN ZEBRAS SENIOR SOCCER AT THE VENETO CLUB
S
eason 2006 commenced with major changes on and off the field. The board made some key decisions after the poor 2005 season. New coaching panel was appointed headed by Michael Michalakopoulos (Senior Coach), Phil Peladarinos (Assistant Coach), Under 21 Coach David Lugli. In conjuction with changes within player personnel, the Club re-secured Ben Harbinson, Hamlet Armenian, Tomas Kovar and promoted 3 outstanding players from our under 21's Adam Fadijevic, Dean Piermonte and Mark McGough. Also, returning to the Club after spending one year in the A League Billy Celeski from Perth Glory and Ricky Diaco from Melbourne Victory. The Bulleen Zebras season is progressing well and at this stage of the year we are hopeful, that a top 6 position is achievable with our strong playing personnel. There is a long way to go, but with the tremendous support for the Club on Game Day, well in excess of 1,200 supporters watching the Zebras compete week-in, week- out the Zebras are confident that our ambition may be achieved. The Bulleen Zebras would like to acknowledge three (3) wonderful footballers that are playing their tenth season with the Club. This a great achievement and it is a testimony to their long jeverty as players and their commitment to the black and white stripes. Michael Mazzini, Dean Tartaglia and Damien Guglielmi. The Bulleen Zebras have been playing at the Veneto Club for a decade. It has been a wonderful merger of the three bodies, namely: Box Hill Inter, Juventus and Bulleen. The Club has gone from strength to strength and we are the largest Italian backed soccer Club in Victoria, if not the largest in Australia. The Bulleen Zebras looks forward to another decade of commitment at its Home ground, the Veneto Club. With the passion of its supporter based and strong Junior body Bulleen Lions, our Club can only continue its current dynasty. As president of the Club, the board and I, would like to thank all its major and key sponsors that have given their generous financial support to the mighty Zebras for the season 2006, as well as, Club 75, Gold and Season Pass members and our great vocal supporter based. entre la stagione 2005/2006 si sta avviando verso la fine, vorrei dire che 6 stato per il nostro Club, un anno molto positivo.

NATIONAL BOCCE BOWLS
T
he two major events that involved Australian players were the World Senior Titles in Torino, last September and National Titles in New South Wales in June last year. For the World Titles at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Torino, the Australian team was fortunate to be led by the experienced former Veneto Club member Anthony Parlato (who has since moved to Queensland) together with Melbourne's other player Santo Pascuzzi and Coach Tony Biancacci. Competing against twenty five other countries in these Championships, Anthony did well 6th in the Singles, and with Santo 7th in the Doubles. Santo also achieved 10th in the Progressive Throw. The other highlight for the Veneto Club was the performance of club member and international, Valter Brecevic at the last June National Titles at the Liverpool Catholic Club in New South Wales. Valter was supreme in the Precision Throw and on performance was favourite in the Singles, but in the finals had to be satisfied with runner up to the winner, Queenslander Lou Masotti. The Australian Federation has been quite active. It has held Training Camps for Juniors and Women players, particularly for those players intending to apply to represent Australia at this year's World Bocce Bowls Championships. Sixteen juniors tried out at the two day camp in January. A squad has since been selected and an Australian team will be announced closer to the World Championships in Biella Italy in September. The Women team will be selected after a further camp, for
their Championship in Wen Zhou, China in October. The Australian Junior Bocce Open was held in March in Sydney at the Marconi Club with eight teams from over Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and we welcomed the new comer, Singapore. Bocce Federation of Australia

his year, the Veneto Club Clay Target Shooters have experienced some new changes. Firstly, we are now shooting on the third Sunday of every month at the Werribee Gun Club. Secondly, and more importantly, we are facing difficulties in procuring competitors, so, if there are any persons interested in joining a unique and exciting sporting club, the Clay Target Shooters would be delighted to welcome them. Events include competitive shoots, raffles, and a great social atmosphere with food and drink provided on each occasion. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking our sponsors over the past year; A J De Muri Aust Pty Ltd and Structural Steel Fabrication. Our sincere thanks go to all the members who loyally participate and make these events so successful. a giugno 2005 abbiamo avuto le solite attivita come ad esempio 1'AGM al Veneto Club.

Siamo gia a giugno e sembra di aver celebrato it Natale solo qualche settimana fa.

II giorno 26 Giugno 2005 abbiamo avuto l'annuale Assemblea Generale dove dopo it pranzo offerto a tutti i soci presenti, preparato dal comitato, a seguita l'elezione del nuovo comitato che ora 6 cosi composto: Presidente: Luigi Bacchin Vice-Presidente: Giuseppe Trentin Segretaria: Katia Bacchin Assistente Segretaria : Lucia Zandegii Tesoriere: Luigi Marchetti Vice-Tesoriere: Liberio Marini Consiglieri: Oliva Marchetti, Palmina Marini, Luigi Cecchin, Bruno Bergamin, Remo Fabbian, Alessandro e Anna Simion, Giovanni Trevisan, Umberto Marcon, Franco Borella e Duilio Trentin.

Incoraggiamo i nostri soci a stare uniti, a sostenere
Padre Giuliano Cavarzan S.D.B.,
segretario A.T.M.
