The reason for this strong support is the recognition that the Veneto Social Club is a great family club which caters for people of all ages, providing for a wide group of interests be they social, sporting or cultural.

The Veneti are well renowned for their generous support of charities and for the assistance they provide to their club members and families.

I am pleased to have assisted your club with your application to the National Soccer League and also the establishment of a multi purpose sporting stadium which will be of great benefit in attracting young people to your club.

I am aware of the hard work and dedication of yourself and your Committee which you undertake on behalf of your club members and the wider community and I wish to thank you for this dedication and hard work.

Dal Presidente del Club Can Soci, col susseguirsi dei successi del nostro sodalizio, purtroppo si susseguono anche gli anni che accumuliamo sulle nostre spalle. Tuttavia la nostra associazione, che progredisce nonostante l'invecchiare dei fondatori, ci da vita e speranza e premia con i suoi successi tutta la nostra perseveranza e la nostra intensa attivita.

Vi ringrazio per la ripetuta fiducia che mi e stata ancora una volta accordata ed io, in ricambio, ho posto tutto it mio entusiasmo e it mio impegno per fare del nostro club un' associazione sempre migliore.

E inutile che vi ripeta ancora che to "Sport Centre" verra realizzato molto presto. Questa resta la mia speranza e la mia convinzione, ma non dipende da me.

Io posto solo assicurarvi, con la massima sincerita, che non 6 stato tralasciato nulla di 66 che era possibile fare e la promessa di una conclusione a ancora stata rinnovata per l'ennesima volta. Se mi a stata detta la verita potro annunciare a questa assemblea l'approvazione del progetto. Altrimenti not continueremo con tutti i mezzi possibili a cercare di raggiungere it nostro scopo.

II denaro per questo progetto e stato incluso nel preventivo di bilancio e depositato in investimenti a breve ten-nine, cosicche si possa procedere al piu presto possibile.

Lo "Sports Centre" includera un campo da pallacanestro, per poter assicurare ai nostri soci ed ai loro figli tale attrezzatura sportiva a livello di competizione, per questo sport che sta diventando molto popolare.

Saranno anche disponibili attrezzature di allenamento e palestra per tutti coloro che partecipano ad attivita sportive al nostro Club.

I resoconti allegati a questa pubblicazione dimostrano, senza it bisogno di spendere altre parole, che finanziariamente il Club continua ad andare bene.

Segno questo che i soci frequentano la nostra organizzazione e la mantengono viva ed attiva. Per questo palese interesse sentiamo it dovere di ringraziare tutti i soci e i simpatizzanti che frequentano

Siamo impegnati a migliorare e sviluppare tutte le nostre attrezzature e attivita sportive.

Per quanto ci concerne nella manutenzione e sviluppo della nostra sede, laddove non c' era il bisogno di dover ottenere licenze e permessi dalle autorita, tutti i lavori in progetto sono stati ultimati nei tempi previsti e con risultati eccellenti. Fra questi ci pregiamo elencare: it completamento dei lavori dell'entrata, ascensore incluso; it completo rinnovo della Sala San Marco che e stata trasformata in un'autentica sala di lusso per trattenimenti; la ristrutturazione della sala da gioco delle "Poker Machines" e del relativo arredamento.

Tutto cia e stato fatto nell' interesse e anche per it piacere dei soci; speriamo sinceramente di avere l'approvazione di tutti.

Tutto cib che e stato fatto fino ad oggi e la conseguenza di un assiduo lavoro e di un impegno senza riserve. Pertanto la riconoscenza deve essere rivolta in primo luogo al Comitato Direttivo del club col quale mi congratulo personalmente e porgo a ciascun membro dello stesso i miei pin sinceri ringraziamenti. La cooperazione di tutti i componenti del predetto comitato ha reso it mio compito molto piU agevole.

La maggior parte delle attivita che si svolgono al nostro club sono dirette e organizzate da vari sottocomitati, ciascuno nelle sue funzioni particolari.

Ringrazio pertanto ognuno di essi e tutti i componenti dei comitati relativi.

Le "Ladies Auxiliary" che non lesinano la loro opera sia quando organizzano le loro feste di beneficenza e sia quando aiutano allo svolgimento di tutte le funzioni sociali del club.

I bocciofili che, attivissimi nello sport e nelle funzioni sociali, costituiscono una grande parte della nostra associazione. Essi riscuotono sempre maggiori successi e anche quest' anno hanno partecipato ai campionati mondiali con tre giocatori. I giovani bocciofili seguono l'esempio dei vecchi e riscuotono anch'essi i loro successi nel campo internazionale.

Anche nel campo femminile le nostre bocciofile si fanno onore e sono di preziosa collaborazione per le attivita sociali del settore.

Grazie alla "Bocce Federation" che ha scelto ancora it nostro club come sede principale per lo svolgimento dei campionati.

Il "Soccer Committee" la cui attivita e giunta a livello nazionale, sta dando grandi soddisfazioni a tutti i tifosi. L'augurio e quello che progredisca sempre Il "Tennis" e lo "Squash", attivita ambite da molti dei nostri soci, continuano con successi sportivi e raduni sociali. Grazie per la loro intensa attivita e auguri per il futuro.

Il "Coro Veneto", oggi ad un livello professionale, continua con successo nelle sua instancabile attivita.

I "cacciatori", custodi di' antiche tradizioni, svolgono sempre attraenti raduni sociali nella nostra sede; auguri di continui successi.

Le associazioni provinciali venete riempiono spesso le sale della nostra sede per le loro ricorrenze.

Auguri vivissimi affinche continuino a tener vivo il ricordo delle nostre usanze e della nostra cultura.

Esiste ancora it sottocomitato dei "GiovaniAdulti". Auguriamo a questi che le loro attivita diventino piu frequenti.

II gruppo "anziani" frequenta con assiduity il club ed anche a loro vada it nostro sincero ringraziamento.

E notorio a tutti coloro che conoscono la nostra associazione di quanto sia prezioso it lavoro dei numerosissimi volontari. Dobbiamo essere riconoscenti a tutte queste persone e pertanto rivolgiamo loro un particolare grazie sincero e cordiale.

Grazie per l'abile lavoro del "Finance Committee" costituito da Duilio Barro, Frak Gazzola, John Cabion e Rino Tessarotto.

A proposito di gioco a nostro dovere ringraziare i numerosi frequentatori delle nostre "Poker Machines" e gli addetti che le gestiscono.

President's Report Dear Members, With the achievement of our club's manifold successes, we unfortunately have also had to witness the burden of time and the accumulation of a great many years. Nevertheless our club, which strives on despite its ageing founders, gives us life and hope and rewards all our perseverance and intense activity with its continued success.

I thank you for the ongoing faith that once again has been placed upon me and, in turn, I give my total enthusiasm and commitment for the continual betterment of our club.

It is pointless for me to once again state that the Sports Centre will soon be finished. This continues to be my hope and conviction, but it does not depend on me. I can only reassure you, with utmost sincerity, that everything possible that could be done, has been done and that a promise for its forthcoming completion has been renewed for the umpteenth time. If the information I have received is correct, I should be able to announce at this Annual General Meeting the approval of the project.

Otherwise we will continue, with all the means available to us, to try and achieve our goal.

The money for this development is set aside in the balance sheet and is deposited in short term investments so that we can proceed as soon as possible.

The Sports Centre will incorporate a Basketball Court to make that facility available to our members and their children at a competition level, as this sport is becoming popular: training and gymnasium facilities will also be available for all people

participating in sport at our Club.

The Annual Financial Report included in this publication demonstrates, without further need of words, that the club continues to prosper financially.

A clear sign that members are frequenting our organization and thus maintaining its vitality. We feel it our duty to thank all members and sympathizers who assiduously attend our club, for this manifestation of interest.

We are committed to the improvement and development of all our sporting facilities and activities.

In so far as the maintenance and development of our premises are concerned, where there hasn't been a need to acquire licenses and permits from authoritative bodies, all works and projects have been completed within the estimated times and with excellent results.

It has all been done in the interest of members as well as for their pleasure and comfort. We sincerely hope to meet everyone's approval.

All that has been achieved to date is in consequence to industrious work and unreserved commitment. Therefore, our gratitude must be extended first and foremost to the Main Committee, whom I personally congratulate and to whose members I extend my most sincere thanks. The cooperation given by all its members has made my work much easier.

The major part of the activities which take place at our club are directed and organized by the various subcommittees, each with its particular function. I thank, therefore, each one of them and all of their members.

The Ladies Auxiliary who are never short of an effort, both in their organization of charity events as in their assistance in the running of all of the club's social events.

Si curano tutte le pratiche legali, Italiane e Australiane. tive in their sport and social functions, constitute a large part of our club. They always attain great successes and this year have, once again, competed in the World Championships with three players. The young players follow the example of the old and they themselves are achieving successful results at the international level.

In the female section of the competition, our players are also achieving outstanding results. As well, their support and help in organizing social activities within this sport is invaluable.

A thank you to the Bocce Federation for having chosen our club, yet again, as the main venue for the running of the championships.

The Soccer Committee, who has developed the game of soccer to a professional level, is providing great satisfaction to all its supporters, through the success of its players. Our wish is for an even greater success.

Tennis and Squash, sought-after activities by many of our members, continue in their sporting success and social gatherings. A thank you for their intense activity and best wishes for the future.

The Coro Veneto, nowadays at a professional level, continues with success in its indefatigable activity.

Thank you and all our best wishes.

Our hunters, custodians of ancient traditions, continue to hold popular social gatherings at our club; best wishes and continued success.

The Veneto Provincial Associations often fill the halls of our club with their festivities. Our strongest felt wishes and hopes that they will continue to keep alive the memory of our customs and culture.

The Young Adults Subcommittee is still in existence. We hope that their activities will become more frequent.

The Elderly Group assiduously frequents our club and to it, also, we extend our sincerest thanks.

It is commonly known to all those who know our club, how highly valued is the work of our very many volunteers. We are very grateful to all these people and thus, to them, we extend a sincere and most cordial thank you.

Thank you for the skilful work of the Finance Committee made up by Dui lio Barro, Frank Gazzola, John Cabion and Rino Tessarotto.

To our Solicitor, Mr Sartori, who safeguards our club in legal matters, we extend a sincere thank you for the way in which he has always taken our interests to heart.

The game of bingo is always very active at our club and Mario Bonis and Celio Stocco, along with their committee, are responsible for its running and all that concerns it. A heartfelt thank you and our best wishes.

Whilst on the topic of gaming, it is our duty to thank the numerous visitors to our poker machines and those who are responsible for the running of them and its organization.

I extend my sincerest thanks to the Cay. Rino Tessarotto who, as well as being a member of the Soccer Committee, is also responsible for the organization of this publication.

A thank you to Giorgio Cappellotto, the manager of our club, for all his work.

rinnovare la Sala San Marco, daranno ora la possibilita a tutti voi, ai vostri figli ed ai vostri amici, di usufruire di tanto lusso, della nostra ultra ventennale esperienza e dei consueti prezzi modici per le celebrazioni che fanno parte importantissima della Pier Giorgio Cappellotto vita, come matrimoni, fidanzamenti, battesimi, compleanni, anniversari, ecc.

Confido che voi farete sapere a tutti della disponibilita di questa meravigliosa sala San Marco e che presto la potremo vedere in funzione ogni settimana.

La sala Venezia continua a essere frequentata specialmente di sabato sera. Anche le domeniche stanno diventando piu popolari ma c'e sempre posto per migliorare.

La sala delle "pokies" e stata pure completamente rinnovata ed e certamente molto piu accogliente che in

Soci carissimi, i dodici mesi scorsi mi portano in visione giornate di grandi presenze e di enormi successi delle funzioni organizzate dal Comitato direttivo. Mi fa immenso piacere darvi un riassunto che inquadra queste nostre feste al Veneto Club. Debbo premettere che le feste tradizionali sono quelle che riempiono it Club. Ve le voglio elencare: la giornata dell'Australia, Pasqua, la Festa della Mamma, la Castagnata, la Festa del Presidente, la Festa del Papa, Natale e San Silvestro.

Queste le possiamo chiamare "le Feste di Famiglia" che celebrano l'incontrarsi tra di not per it piacere di rivederci, per farci gli auguri, per salutarci e scambiare qualche idea, ma soprattutto perche e bello passare insieme qualche ora al Club. Penso che le aspirazioni dei Soci Fondatori si realizzino in pieno in tali occasioni.

Circolo Anziani di Bulleen Siamo ormai a meta dell ' anno 1996. II tempo passa in fretta. Nell' arco di questi anni passati in compagnia abbiamo trascorso ore liete e tristi con fardello pia o meno pesante da portare ma sempre uniti.

Qualcuno di note ritornato alla casa del Padre e altri hanno preso it loro posto.

Il nostro circolo a sempre di un numero consistente portandolo avanti con buona volonta, primo it nostro presidente Sig. Campagna e poi dai pia con entusiasmo.

Dal Primo Vice-Presidente Mi a graditissima questa occasione tramite it libro annuale del nostro club di poter pubblicamente esprimere tutto it mio apprezzamento ed un sincero grazie a tutti i soci del club che nell'anno scorso hanno lavorato gratuitamente e contribuito alla vita del nostro sodalizio. Cioe, quel gruppo di persone da not chiamati i "Volontari". Desidero inoltre ringraziare it presidente del club Agostino Martini e tutti i membri del comitato per la loro collaborazione ed appoggio. Alle signore del Comitato Ausiliario Femminile, tutti i vari Sottocomitati, le Associazioni Provinciali Venete, ed al personale del Club vada tutta la mia sincera gratitudine.

L'anno 1995/1996 e stato un anno colmo di successi in ogni settore, non solo in quanto nell'abbellimento visuale del club ma piu importante nella folta partecipazione di ognuno di voi a tutte le nostre feste.

Ho sempre lavorato con dedizione ed orgoglio per it nostro club, e continuero nel futuro perche mi sento orgoglioso di far parte di voi.

The gondola pictured on the cover is operated by Scott Kerr on the Yarra River.

The idea to run a "Gondola Service" on the Yarra river first came to Scott when he was living in Surfers Paradise in Queensland. Can soci e simpatizzanti del nostro Coro, Una esibizione del Coro Veneto di fronte all'ingresso della Sede del Club siamo giunti alla prima meta del 1996 e tramite queste patico gruppo di paesani, nel nostro Club, provenienti pagine vi teniamo informati delle nostre attivita. dal Canada, che si trovavano qui per un periodo di Nel nostro Coro tutto sta proseguendo molto bene, vacanza. grazie alla buona volonta di noi tutti. A Natale ci siamo Poi abbiamo cantato per una festa etnica di fronte esibiti assieme ad altri artisti e cantanti in una bella al comune di Darebin, ora ci stiamo preparando carrellata di canzoni natalizie, partecipando al prointensamente per una grande esibizione, assieme al gramma "Una Notte Sotto le Stelle". Noi speriamo Coro Furlan, che si terra nella chiesa di San Clemente che questo programma si ripeta nei futuri periodi a Bulleen, it giomo 8 giugno. Questa esibizione fa natalizi perche a molto sentito nei nostri cuori. parte dei festeggiamenti, organizzati dalla F.C.A., per A febbraio abbiamo intrattenuto un nostro simit 50.mo anniversario della Repubblica Italiana.

Unfortunately the application was not successful but Soccer Australia highly commended Bulleen's application and hoped that in the near future if it re-applies it will be successful.

Bulleen Lions were busy in the transfer market during the off season, purchasing four players: George Slifkas from West Adelaide - $ 6000; Ange Goutsioulis from Adelaide City - $ 5000 (Subsequently sold to Westvale Utd for $ 5000; Robert Stojcevski from Preston - free transfer; Players sold: Damian Beattie to Fawkner S.C. Loan - $ 500.

The Senior Squad for the 1996 season is as follows: Jeff Giver, Frank Valentic, Robert Liparoti, Robert

ulleen-Veneto commenced its 1996 Premier League campaign under coach Peter 011erton. The 1996 season started in January 1996, two months earlier than prior years.

The early start to the season was initiated by the Victorian Soccer Federation to take advantage of better weather to attract more spectators to the Premier League.

Bulleen Lions made an application in January, 1996 to join the Ericson Cup (The National Soccer League) for the start of the 1996/1997 season. A lot of time and effort was put in by the Soccer Sub-Committee in putting together a professional application.

The senior side had an average start to its 1996 season and after 12 rounds departed company with coach Peter 011erton and appointed Andy Bozikas as senior coach for the remainder of the season.

Andy Bozikas returns to the Club after coaching Heidelberg Utd in the National Soccer League.

The reserve team, which is made up of players from our successful National Youth League side, was coached by Michael Sinclair, but he left the Club at the end of April and has been replaced by Bogan Bonk, Polish International.

A special thanks to Agostino Martini and the Veneto Club Committee for their support in our 1996 campaign.

SECRETARY'S REPORT This year the Club has gone from strength to strength, financially our Committee for the first time in its life has had a female member of the committee Mrs Ketti Pezzin and has bought a new life to our meetings, not to forget the other two new members Mr Leo Poli and Mr Lou Benetti.

My year as Secretary has been a very interesting one for the Club, we have gone through major refurbishment's within our Club namely our Sala San Marco making it a magnificent top class room, and the Gaming area improving it to International standards, and not to forget the upgrading of the Tennis Courts and replacing the Tennis Lights. The discussion made by the appropriate bodies to allow us to build the new sports centre is a positive one.

We were disappointed at the decision made by the Soccer body not allowing us into the "A" league competition, but the Club must still keep trying and maintain its direction to pursue sport as a priority.

Membership this year needs to be addressed, the current trend of Memberships is not growing. The new committee, Foundation Members, Ordinary Members and Associate Members, all of us must encourage their younger families back to the Club, making the Club a great sporting and social venue for its members and friends and to ensure the future of the Veneto Club.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Committee, Office Staff and Staff for their Co-operation and assistance throughout the Year.

NOTE 1

STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTING POLICIES This is not a general purpose financial report. It is a special purpose report prepared specifically for distribution to members in accordance with the Club's Constitution and to comply with the Corporations Law. The Club is of a type identified in Statement of Accounting Concepts 1 as a non-reporting entity.

The accounts are drawn up in accordance with the accounting principles and methods prescribed by Statements of Accounting Concepts and applicable Accounting Standards, and contain the disclosure requirements of those Statements except for: AAS B1020 'Accounting for Income Tax' AAS B1021 'Depreciation of Non-Current Assets' AAS B1010 'Accounting for the Revaluation of Non-Current Assets because, in the opinion of the directors, to do so would have placed an unreasonable burden upon the entity for a comparably minor benefit. (i )

Historical Cost Convention The attached financial statements have been prepared on the basis of historical costs and do not take into account changing money values. They have been prepared on an accruals basis from the records of the Club.

NOTE 2

Freehold Land & Buildings and Improvements - At 1994 Valuation and subsequent additions at cost. (1994 Valuation $4,500,000). No Depreciation has been provided on Buildings. The property was valued in April, 1994, by W.G. Miles & Co. Pty. Ltd. for purposes of establishing a current market value.

NOTE 3

Acquisitions of plant and equipment included the installation of new lighting for the tennis courts totalling $14,432. In addition substantial write offs occurred as a consequence of the refurbishment of the Gaming Room and the Sala San Marco.

NOTE 4

The Club has obtained a Private Ruling from the Australian Taxation Office indicating that under the existing circumstances the Club is exempt from income tax.

NOTE 5

Available overdraft facility is secured against 191 Bulleen Road, Bulleen.

AUDITORS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF VENETO CLUB (A Company Limited by Guarantee) ACN. 004 843 752 Scope: We have audited the financial statements set out on pages 30 to 36. These statements have been prepared on the basis set out in Note 1 to the accounts.

The directors of the Company are responsible for the preparation and presentation of the financial statements of the Club. We have conducted an independent audit of these accounts in order to express an opinion of them to the members of the Club.

Our audit has been conducted in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards to provide reasonable assurance as to whether the accounts are free of material misstatement. Our procedures included examination, on a test basis, of evidence supporting the accounts and other disclosures in the financial statements, and the evaluation of accounting policies and significant accounting estimates. These procedures have been undertaken to form an opinion as to whether, in all material aspects the financial statements:(i)

are presented fairly in accordance with the historic cost basis of accounting outlined in Note 1 to the accounts, and

(ii)

present a true and fair view in accordance with the requirements of the Corporations Law,

so as to present a view of the Company which is consistent with our understanding of its financial position and the results of its operations. The financial statements have not been prepared as a general purpose financial report in accordance with Statements of Accounting Concepts and Accounting Standards.

The audit opinion expressed in this report has been formed on the above basis.

Opinion: In our opinion, the accounts of the Veneto Club are properly drawn up: (a)

so as to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Club as at 30th April, 1996 and of the results of the Club for the year ended on that date.

THE COMMITTEE'S STATUTORY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH APRIL, 1996 The Members of the Committee (Directors) of the Veneto Club (a Company Limited by Guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th April, 1996 and Income and Expenditure Statement for the year ended on that date and report as follows: 1.

The Members of the Committee (Directors) in office at the date of this report were: Messrs A. Martini, A. Pozzebon, D. Barbieri, F. Bortolotto, C. Stocco, L. Benetti, A. Bolzonello, S. Dalla Vecchia, P. Ferronato, L. Poli, R. Rostolis, L. Sella and Mrs K. Pezzin.

The principal activity of the Club during the year ended 30th April, 1996 was to provide social amenities to its members and no significant changes in the nature of these activities occurred during the year.

The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $744664.

There were no shares or debentures issued during the year.

No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company.

Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared.

No significant changes in the state of affairs of the Club occurred during the financial year.

8.

No matters or circumstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations of the Club, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the Club in financial years subsequent to the financial year ended 30th April, 1996.

9.

Since the 30th April, 1995 no member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and members of the Committee.

10.

No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding.

TREASURER'S REPORT I have a great deal of pleasure in presenting my Final Report on the financial activities of the Club for the year ended 30th April, 1996.

The Club has ended the year successfully with a net Surplus of $744,664. This figure is down on last year by $171,308.

Bar and Restaurant trading has shown a slight decrease over last year with total Food and Bar sales down by $43,842. Cost of Sales have increased by $29,072. Total Wages have decreased by $5,604, leaving a gross margin down by $67,310. An increase in total charges of $16,501 gives a Sales Margin decrease of $83,811.

Total Expenses have decreased by $17,481. Main decreases were Repairs and Maintenance which decreased by $58,121, Admin and Management Wages $21,307, Legal Fees $15,782. Superannuation increased by $15,329.

Member Income increased only marginally by $592.00. Bank Interest received has increased by $71.325.

Income from Gaming has decreased by $124,758 and expenses have increased by $23,103 giving a net decrease of $147,861. The decrease in income is due to increased competition particularly in our area, and an increase in expenses mainly due to Promotional Activity up $42,335 and repair and maintenance up by $16,374.

The Balance Sheet is in a very healthy state with Current Assets increased by $249,507 and Fixed Assets increased by $464,195. Total Assets are $8,486,693 against Current Liabilities of $352,817.

Dopo aver partecipato per nove anni al direttivo del Veneto Club, due come mambro del comitato e sette come tesoriere, penso che sia guinto it momento di congedarmi e lasciare it posto a qualche altro.

Sono stati nove anni di lavoro, a volte duro, a volte difficile, nel carcare di giungere a decisioni the fossero giuste e sempre peril miglioramento del nostro Club, pere, tutto ci6 l'ho fatto sempre volentieri.

Ringrazio tanto it nostro presidente Agostino Martini e tutti I membri del Comitato per la loro collaborazione e la loro amicizia in tutti questi anni; John Cobain per it suo grande e veramente apprezzato aiuto, Mario Bonis, Giovanna Rossiani e tutto it personale del Club.

Sono stati veramente bravi e voglio ringraziarli tutti.

Non voglio dimenticare le signore ausiliarie it cui supporto e sempre stato grandioso, e tutti coloro che hanno participato e mi hanno aiutato a gestire it "Bingo" settimanale, specialmente Bianca Martini.

RELAZIJNE ANNUALE 1995/ '96

he 1996 Junior Soccer Season has started with great success with over 150 registered players this year, making up 5 Sub Junior Teams, 5 Junior Teams and a Women's Team, from the age of under 7 to under 16.

The under 15s and under 16s are both playing in the Super League and are playing and performing extremely well.

The Bulleen Soccer Club also has a successful Women's Soccer Team coached by Renato Moreira.

So far all the junior teams have began their season very well and all are either on top of their respective leagues or in the top three. Lets hope that this success will continue for the remainder of the season and we wish all the soccer teams well in their leagues this year.

1995/96 NATIONAL YOUTH LEAGUE TEAM The National Youth League is an excellent competition with the best of the youth competing and some of the National League Senior Players also playing.

This is a great opportunity for our young players to gain experience. The benefits to the Club are development of our young players where they can bridge the gap between Juniors and Seniors. We have also benefited on the transfer market.

These are some of the players who have come up through the Youth League Peter Di Iorio, Robert Liparoti, Damien Everetts, Anthony Barbieri, Marco Bresciano, Frank Catalano, (Con Blatsis, Michael Curcija, both now playing at Sth. Melbourne).

Once again Bulleen entered a team in the National Youth League. The team was comprised of some of the boys who have played in last year's Youth League and some of last year's Under 16 Squad. They were under the charge of Coach Mike Sinclair and Team Manager Egon Schille. This year's results were very good. The competition was so close at the top of the league, Bulleen missed 3rd place by only one point and finished on equal points with the V.I.S. and Melbourne Knights but were placed 6th on goal difference.

The Best and Fairest in the Youth League was Damien Everetts with Marco Bresciano, Runner up. The Encouragement Award was won by Paul Salvatore. All in a great effort.

Australia Bocce Federation

A PERTH IL CAMPIONATO NAZIONALE BOCCE Il ventisettesimo Campionato Australiano Bocce Maschile e it Secondo Campionato Nazionale femminile si sono appena conclusi. II primo al Laguna Veneto Club - Dianella, e it secondo al Toscana Club Balcatta. Un folto pubblico ha seguito questi campionati nazionali, si vede che it gioco delle bocce in W.A. e in crescendo. A questi Nazionali si sono disputati parecchi titoli: quello della "Quadretta" it "Doppio" e per la prima volta quello del "Punto e Tiro" ed anche il "Tiro Progressivo" e il "Tiro di Precisione" per gli uomini.

Per le donne si a giocato it "Doppio", it "Triplo" e it "Punto/Tiro".

Un ringraziamento vada agli "sponsors", al Comitato organizzatore del Western Australia con in testa il presidente Primo Bonifacio e a tutti quelli che hanno contribuito al successo di questi Campionati Nazionali.

Recentemente l'Australia Bocce Federation ha assunto il Signor John Inglese per lavorare come "PartTime Development Officer" per continuare lo sviluppo dello sport delle bocce in Australia.

In Queensland, sulla Gold Coast, all'Italo-Australia Club, nello scorso mese di aprile, si a svolto it quindicesimo Campionato Nazionale Giovanile dove c'era in palio it Campionato del Tiro Progressivo, vinto da Robert Mikuletic del N.S.W. e quello del Tiro di Precisione che, anche in questa specialita, l'ha spuntata ancora Robert Mikuletic.

Poi il Campionato di Squadrd, che consiste del Punto e Tiro, Singolo e Doppio, si 6 vista ancora una volta la squadra del Victoria composta da Daniel Gusatto, Pat Spataro e Michael Pascuzzi.

Dopo questi Campionati Nazionali l'allenatore della Nazionale Giovanile Nick Cirocco del South Australia ha scelto la squadra "verde-oro" che partecipera ai campionati mondiali "Under 18" a Carvin, in Francia, dal 16 al 21 luglio prossimi. La squadra 6 cosi composta: Robert Mikuletic del N.S.W., Daniel Gusatto e Pat Spataro del Victoria. Delegato al congresso internazionale, Tony Pegoraro. a questa giovane squadra, auguri di un'ottima prestazione in Francia.

opo un'altra stagione di intensa attivita sportiva, come presidente del Comitato Bocce, voglio presentare it rapporto delle nostre attivita sportive e sociali per l'anno 1995/96.

Come per it passato, anche quest'anno le nostre squadre hanno registrato un maggiore numero di vittorie rispetto agli altri club. Abbiamo contribuito con it maggiore numero di giocatori per la nostra squadra statale che partecipera ai campionati nazionali nel Western Australia it prossimo mese. I nostri giocatori qualificati per i campionati sono i veterani

S.Gatto e E.Colla, G.D'Alessandro ed it giovane W.Brecevic, i quali certamente saranno i maggiori esponenti nel campionato.

Come "chairman" della sezione bocce, unitamente al mio comitato, desidero ringraziare tutti coloro che moralmente e finanziariamente ci hanno aiutato. Ringrazio specialmente le signore del comitato bocce le quali, con incessante lealta, sono state sempre pronte ad aiutarci.

BOCCE Femminile L'anno 1995-'96 si concluso. Con grande rammarico dobbiamo dire che it numero di giocatrici venete va diminuendo sempre di pita e la speranza che aumenti a ormai vana. Con tutto ci6 congratulazioni alle poche rimaste da parte del sottocomitato.

Da ormai tanti anni le signore del sottocomitato svolgono it loro lavoro con entusiasmo per la buona riuscita di tutte le competizioni bocciofile, sociali, federali, interstatali e incontri amichevoli che si svolgono nella sede del nostro club.

Desidero esprimere a nome del sottocomitato la piu viva e sentita gratitudine agli "sponsors". La loro generosity ci permette, ormai da tanti anni, di realizzare le nostre competizioni con magnifici premi. Essi sono: le Ladies Auxiliary del nostro club e la ditta Lago Smallgoods.

"Barracca", the Main Committee has promised to do it as soon as there is a clear Yes/No answer on the goahead of the Sports Pavilion Project.

At the time of this report being written it appears that the project will get the go-ahead. In this case. if the "Barracca" will have to be pulled down, we Tennis Members rely on the Main Committee to provide us with a suitable room inside the Pavilion or another improved type of "Barracca" along side it.

TENNIS REPORT General After long meetings and consultations between the Main Committee and our Tennis Sub-Committee, finally some tangible improvements have been achieved. a)

Mens Tennis Ten teams of about five players per team have been playing in the Tuesday night mens doubles district tournament. Of these, nine reached the semifinals but only three teams reached the finals and two won the flag. WELL DONE.

Tennis Courts Lights.

New light fittings have been installed on the existing poles and minor adjustments to their alignment still needs to be done. What has now been achieved is not ideal and courts 3 and 4 in particular appears not as well lit as the others especially at the Soccer Field end. Your Committee is looking at this problem right now. b)

Court Repairs

Repairs to the surface of all six Courts is in progress. In order to have a minimum of four playable courts while repairs are being done, the contractor is working on two courts at a time. Courts 5 and 6 have been completed and courts 1 and 2 are the next to be repaired. After repairs the court surface will be soft for the next two months, therefore no competition or coaching will be allowed and courts need to be bagged after each set.

During the next two or three months working period, some overcrowding of the courts may occur especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. In view of this the Tennis Committee expects the members to have patience and tolerance and to vacate the court after the winners reach six games.

We also have two teams in the State Pennant Open Competition. This is the competition where the best tennis is played and our top team plays in Grade 3. On Thursday afternoon we have one veterans double team playing in section 1, this team has made the finals and won the flag. WELL DONE.

Ladies Tennis The Ladies participate with one team playing on Tuesday day competition of doubles and four teams playing on Thursday day time.

The warm and pleasant afternoon weather together with the idyllic location of our courts made players and friends enjoy the Barbecue which followed the Round Robin.

Our Members Carlo and Teresa Travaglini apart from participating in the Round Robin as players also donated the bottles of wine distributed to the winners of the various sections.

As owners of the wine merchant firm Alexander and Patterson, Carlo and Teresa always support our Tennis with generosity. Thanks.

Mixed Doubles Only one team plays this competition on Thursday Nights in Section 2. This team has also won the flag. Well Done.

Junior Tennis

Coming Events:

The junior players are very active in our Club and keep our coach Russell Cornehls very busy during the year. They are also well represented in the Saturday Morning Junior Competition which take players from 10 to 18 years of age.

The juniors have eleven teams playing singles and doubles, of which six teams are boys and five teams are girls. The sections are from 1 to 15 and our best boys team is in section 2 and the girls best is in Section 3.

This competition ends in June and after a break of about six weeks re commences at the end of July.

At this point a special "Thank You" is due to Caroline Rigoni who is the Committee member responsible for all Junior activities. For many years she has coordinated and organised our boys and girls splendidly.

ASSOCIAZIONE TREVISANI NEL MONDO Come tante altre associazioni anche l'A.T.M. in buona salute, continua imperterrita it suo lavoro e le sue attivita a beneficio dei trevisani e amici. Il numero dei soci rimane sempre stazionario, suite 370 unita. Ci sono vecchi amici che ci abbandonano e ci sono nuovi amici che ci trovano. Certo che si trova sempre piu difficile accontentare un po' tutti e le nostre feste non sono pia come una volta, non tanto per quanto riguarda la preparazione, quanto per il numero di quelli che intervengono. Le scuse a volte sono genuine e le dobbiamo tenere presenti, ma a volte sono cosi banali che alla base di tutto, veramente, sta solo la mancanza di buona volonta.

Comunque anche quest'anno abbiamo

un pranzo "coi fiocchi" a Dromana per il Centro Assisi. Cibo e bibite in abbondanza e la novita di quest'anno fu "el yin brulle e le castagne" oltre ai crostoli, che furono accolte come il famoso cacio sui maccheroni!!!

A gennaio organizzammo una cena al Veneto Club per onorare una trentina di trevisani che erano venuti dal Canada per visitare l'Australia. Ci scambiammo doni e la promessa che tra non molto saremo noi a ricambiare la visita, visitando noi ii loro bel paese.

Anche quest'anno ebbe un gran successo il fine settimana di luglio tra gli amid di Myrtleford. Il meglio delle vecchie tradizioni viene sempre a galla in circostanze come quella: Canti, allegria, vino, cibi

organizzato con buon successo certe feste e con "discreta infamia" certe altre. Il picnic di febbraio e stato un buon successo. Era la prima volta che si organizzava al Warringal Park e tutti furono contenti della scelta. Anche se it terreno era un po' troppo ampio per noi, abbiamo passato una bellissima giornata tutti insieme anche perche, da gente intelligente come siamo, non abbiamo invaso tutto it territorio ma quel tanto che ci era necessario e cosi eravamo tutti vicini e uniti.

Le serate sociali hanno avuto tutte un discreto successo ma la migliore, come sempre, a stata la serata ultima dell' anno in cui venivano premiati quei pionieri che sono in Australia da oltre 25 anni. Ormai i premiati per questo motivo sono oltre 300 ...

In giugno anche quest'anno abbiamo organizzato

tradizionali, barzellette, tutto in un'atmosfera di vero cameratismo.

Nel mese di maggio fu organizzata con grande soddisfazione dei partecipanti una gita di otto giorni in Nuova Zelanda. II tempo meraviglioso e la bella compagnia hanno dato grande soddisfazione a tutti.

Ultima iniziativa dell'A.T.M. ebbe luogo sabato 18 maggio al villaggio San Carlo di South Morang, ove nel pomeriggio l'Arcivescovo di Melbourne Mons.

Sir Frank Little benediceva la grotta di Lourdes costruita dai trevisani Vittorio Gandin e Tiziano Signor.

Beppi Crema, a nome dei trevisani, consegnava a Fr. Emilio Vaccaro direttore del Villaggio la somma di $1750 per l'acquisto delle due statue della Madonna e di Bernardette. Cosi ancora una volta i trevisani 50

dimostrano che ci si diverte e non si dimentica chi 6 nel bisogno.

E per it futuro?

Nonostante Feta, nonostante it sacrificio che richiede, nonostante tutto, i membri del vecchio Comitato hanno accettato di continuare it lavoro che da anni svolgono. Sotto la guida del baldo alpino Beppi Crema, pura razza Piave! ! !, come dice sempre lui, ben coadiuvato da generosi collaboratori la Trevisani guarda con fiducia al futuro.

Oltre alle tradizionali feste quest' anno un bel gruppetto avra la possibility di fare visita alla Terra Santa ad agosto durante la quale si incontrera con trevisani provenienti da tutte le parti del mondo, anche loro in visita organizzati dal direttivo dell'A.T.M. di Treviso. A Gerusalemme ci sara anche chi parlera it dialetto della "Marca Gioiosa". Sara certamente un incontro che fara epoca.

In fine it direttivo A.T.M. vuole estendere it suo grazie al Veneto Club per l'ospitalita che ci da e per l'aiuto che ci rende ogni volta che organizziamo qualche festa o ogni volta che abbiamo bisogno.

A tutti i trevisani che da anni ci seguono la nostra riconoscenza e a tutti quelli che ancora non si sono associati l'invito a far parte di questa nostra associazione che domanda loro cosi poco e da loro parecchie soddisfazioni.

Veronesi nel Mondo La festa di carnevale in Italia vanta tradizioni storiche e culturali antichissime, che si perdono nell'oscurita del primo millennio quando i riti pagani e quelli cristiani si intercettavano dando vita, in determinati momenti dell'anno, a manifestazioni di giubilo e di folclore.

Alcune feste di carnevale sono ancora famose, ma hanno sfruttato it filone del turismo perdendo 1'originalita. A Verona invece rimane vivo it carnevale popolare conosciuto col nome di "Baccanal del Gnocco".

ENTE VICENTINI NEL MONDO MELBOURNE Quando vie ferma volonta da parte di un gruppo di persone di continuare a progredire cercando it migliore modo possibile di realizzare i progetti approvati dall' assemblea generale, c'e grande probability che tutto riesca bene con soddisfazione per tutti.

Ho grande fiducia che per la nostra associazione tutto si stia dirigendo su questa carreggiata.

Voglio quindi assicurarvi che anche con la sostanziale sostituzione dei membri del comitato delle ultime elezioni godiamo anche quest'anno di molta buona volonta dedizione e buone idee che ci vedranno adempiere it compito ricevuto.

Il picnic della Domenica delle Palme e la festa delle castagne con gita a Bendigo sono stati organizzati molto bene ed hanno riscontrato l'approvazione di tutti i partecipanti.

Questa relazione la sto scrivendo poche ore prima di partire per Vicenza dove dal 16 al 20 maggio si svolgono in tutta la provincia le celebrazioni per it 30.mo anniversario della fondazione dell'EnteVicentini nel Mondo.

A rappresentare la nostra gioventa viene con me Vanda Rodighiero Power che a assistente segretaria della nostra Associazione. Assieme vogliamo rappresentare tutti i vicentini di Melbourne, consci del nostro compito ed orgogliosi di dare it nostro contributo a nome vostro ad una assemblea che raduna vicentini residenti nelle pin svariate nazioni.

II mio augurio a che insieme ai rappresentanti degli altri circoli si possa aprire un dialogo che ci dia la possibility di esplorare nuovi orizzonti che ci aiuti a conoscerci meglio e a trovare gli incentivi giusti per poter consegnare ai nostri figli questa nostra "vicentinita" come parte della vita di ogni giorno.

Sono sicuro che avremo occasione di leggere molto sugli argomenti trattati e sulle conclusioni nel

Comunita Montana dei Sette Comuni dell'Altopiano di Asiago Come negli anni precedenti, desideriamo portare a conoscenza dei lettori circa le attivita realizzate a beneficio dei soci della Comunita Montana dell'Altopiano d'Asiago durante l'anno 1995 fino al marzo '96.

Ricordiamo per primo it Tour della Tasmania di 7 giorni al quale parteciparono 48 persone.

Un giro questo con visite a tutti i luoghi principali e d'interesse storico dell'isola.

Proseguiamo con un accenno alle montagne. In questo caso a quelle dei Grampians. Per la gente nata e cresciuta sui monti e all'ombra degli stessi, anche queste imponenti alture hanno una forte attrazione e it gruppo che le visite) seppe apprezzarne la mole e la maestosita.

Dai monti Grampians ci spostiamo piu vicino a casa e precisamente alla Baita Alpina nel parco di Fairfield. Il picnic annuale questa volta ebbe luogo appunto in questo parco. Un buon numero di soci e amici vi parteciparono ripetendo cosi una delle tante tradizioni che servono a riunirci e a trascorrere all'aria aperta in compagnia e in armonia ore di svago e di distensione.

Altre attivita degne di nota furono gli incontri di "golf" in cui i nostri si misurarono con golfisti di altri sodalizi.

Delle competizioni, quella di maggior rilievo fu l'incontro annuale sponsorizzato da Tony Frigo (Provinciale Servizio Funebre) appunto it "Perpetual Trophy".

La presenza di 140 turisti quasi nel totale provenienti dall'Altopiano di Asiago ci fu d'incentivo per condividere con loro escursioni e tours it pia importante dei quali fu una visita alla Barriera Corallina e alla Rain Forest tanto per citare le due attrazioni piu interessanti intraprese nellavisita alio stato del Queensland. Segui la visita ad Ayers Rock dove peraltro parecchi del gruppo possono vantarsi di aver raggiunto 56

la sommita e da lassu scrutato l'immensita del deserto e osservato da quella posizione vantaggiosa le 36 "cupole" delle Olgas e l'imponente massiccio del monte Connor la cui sommita piatta ci fa ricordare la Tabletop Mountain di Citta del Capo in Sud Africa.

Altre escursioni furono intraprese qui! la prima in citta con visite ai Fitzroy Gardens, al Rialto Tower, alla Cattedrale di San Patrizio e allo Zoo. La seconda al Casino e su un battello sul flume Yarra. Un' altra fu quella lungo la costa sulla Great Ocean Road con fermate, tra l'altro, per visitare i punti piu importanti come i 12 Apostoli e it London Bridge.

Ma it raduno che riuni per una serata it gruppo in arrivo da pochi giomi nella nostra citta e una notevole parte degli altopianesi di Melbourne e di altre parti del Victoria, avvenne nella sala Venezia del Veneto Club.

Un gruppo di turisti provenienti dall'Italia assieme ad amici di Melbourne, in gita lo scorso maggio 1996. "The Olgas" nel Centro Australia.

Questa fu l'occasione per incontrarci e per dare a questi nostri compaesani Popportunita di conoscere e di far conoscere. Ottima occasione dunque per rafforzare amicizie ed avvicinare simbolicamente l'Altopiano al continente Australia.

Un incontro di gente dei nostri paesi e delle nostre contrade che segno un altro passo importante in ci6 che possiamo definire un avvento che si ripete da vent'anni a questa parte a distanza di ogni quattro anni - appunto it sesto dal 1976.

ASSOCIAZIONE PADOVANI NEL MONDO Sede di Melbourne Lo scorso 28 aprile la nostra Associazione ha tenuto nella Sala San Marco del Veneto Club, l'annuale assemblea generale dei soci.

Dopo un buon pranzo offerto a tutti i partecipanti, sono iniziati i lavori per l'elezione del nuovo comitato, che ora 6 cosi composto: Presidente - Galdino Miolo; Vice-presidente - Walter Reffo; Segretaria - Gabriella Chiocchetti; Tesoriere - Giovanni Veronese; Vice-tesoriere - Mario Sonza; Consiglieri - Ernesto Bertollo, Luigi Marchetti, Giuseppe Trentin, Oliva Marchetti, Antonio Sgarbossa, Elide Sonza, Leo Sinigalia, Giorgio Piccolotto.

Zelanda, abbiamo visitato assieme it Centro Assisi, ricevuti dal presidente Cay. Uff. Carlo Valmorbida.

Al ritorno, sono stati ricevuti da tutto it nostro comitato, per cena tenuta nella sala conferenze del Club e malgrado l'ora tarda abbiamo anche fatto un giro nei luoghi piu interessanti della citta.

Ruggero Zerbetto, presidente dell'Ufficio Esteri, Enzo Ottogalli, componente della giunta camerale e la Dottoressa Fernanda Mazzon, direttrice dell'Ufficio Export, ed inoltre cinque direttori di importanti industrie padovane.

Dal punto di vista operativo, iniziativa ha senz' altro prodotto positivi risultati e ha consentito agli operatori di allacciare validi contatti commerciali con aziende locali che permetteranno di concretare una
