in queste settimane di celebrazioni nazionali siamo stati inondati di messaggi e di discorsi, che abbiamo ricambiato spesso con altrettanta ampiezza. Le frasi di augurio e le parole di circostanza, nel moltiplicarsi; perdono la loro lucentezza, e diventa difficile districare, sotto la matassa opaca, it senso antico del comunicare. Vorrei perci riacquistarlo per un attimo per voi• II Veneto Club mi ha colpito fin dallinizio per quella schiettezza signorile che Ê cosi caratteristica delle genti venete e che io conosco cosi bene, per esperienza di famiglla e ricordi autentici di vita. Dal Presidente del Club nalizzando questi nostri 25 anni di attivita associativa, non si pu6 far altro che constatare che i Veneti di Melbourne hanno saputo far fronte a tutte le situazioni che si sono presentate e hanno saputo in ogni occasione scegliere Ia via migliore per il bene del Club e di tutti i Soci. Io sono giunto al mio terzo anno di presidenza di questa associazione ed ho guidato it Comitato Direttivo seguendo it buon senso e l'esempio dei miei predecessori, mettendo a frutto tutte le opportunity che i tempi ci hanno dato. Sfogliando i registri della contabilita degli anni scorsi, mi accorgo che it 1992/'93 e stato un anno rimarchevole, sia nei profitti e sia nelle spese. Abbiamo infatti impiegato delle considerevoli somme di denaro per rinnovare la Sala Venezia, per ricostruire gli impianti igienici del Rialto Bar e per allargare it parcheggio delle auto. Abbiamo costruito anche un marciapiede coperto che conduce dal parcheggio all'ingresso del Club. Il lusso di tali spese ce lo siamo permesso grazie ai proventi delle "Poker Machines". Infatti, it nostro Club ha aperto le porte a questa nuova attivita che si e rivelata in breve tempo molto proficua. Per questo nuovo traguardo bisogna ringraziare Joe Robilotta e Ron Stone che ci hanno aiutato in tutte le pratiche che sono state necessarie per ottenere la debita licenza. Nel giorno dell'apertura della sala da gioco delle "Poker Machines" c'e stato un grande avvento di pubblico e motto gradita e stata la presenza al Club di un gran numero di nostri fornitori che hanno distribuito gratis, a tutti gli intervenuti, i loro prodotti. lo sono motto grato per questo loro intervento che ha dato al nostro Club un tono di alta professionalita e prestigio. Altro bellissimo avvenimento degno di nota e stato Ia celebrazione del 25mo Anniversario dell'Associazione che ha visto la Sala Venezia strapiena per Ia serata di gala. Durante it giorno c'e stata la festa popolare con una simpatica riunione di paesani ai quali sono state offerte le speciality culinarie preparate dalle varie associazioni provinciali venete. A tutte le associazioni ed in particolare a coloro che hanno preparato tali deliziosi cibi, estendo un grazie anche da parte di tutti i soci del Club. La maggior parte delle nostre attivita sono state coronate da lusinghieri successi. to riconosco it valido apporto di tutti i soci e a tutti rendo un ben meritato ringraziamento. Per quanto concerne it Comitato Direttivo non ho che parole di riconoscenza. Per la cost-
Agostino Martini ante dedizione di ogni membro e per it loro individuale apporto, rendo it mio piu caloroso ringraziamento. Alle "Ladies Auxiliary", che da sempre si dimostrano indispensabili alla gestione del Club, va Ia sincera riconoscenza di tutti noi. Esse si prodigano in diverse attivita che permettono loro di devolvere in beneficienza a diverse organizzazioni, considerevoli somme di denaro. Fra le maggiori organizzazioni a cui sono stati donati fondi per beneficienza citiamo it "Children Hospital" e it "Centro Assisi". Al nostro Club, oltre al loro prezioso lavoro, le "Ladies Auxiliary" hanno donato le tende per la Sala Venezia che sono costate la rispettabile somma di $10,000. Ai "volontari", che regolarmente aiutano nella gestione e manutenzione del Club, voglio riconfermare tutta-la mia riconoscenza e gratitudine. Ai sottocomitati sportivi, cominciando dai bocciofili, congratulazioni per aver piazzato ben 5 dei nostri giocatori a rappresentare it Victoria ai campionati australiani di bocce a Brisbane; buona fortuna e grazie per it buon nome che ci fate. Bravissimo "Bufleen Veneto Soccer". Congratulazioni per l'ottimo primo posto in classiflea ed auguroni da parte di tutti i tifosi che vi 5

Coraggio che con it tempo tutto a possibile. Per lo Squash e per i Cacciatori, buone cose, • ci fa piacere vedervi numerosi. Ai componenti del Coro Veneto rivolgo it mio incoraggiamento: Ia vostra e una delle arti piu suggestive: ai nostri sod, le vostre esibizioni sono motivo di orgoglio. Al comitato dei "Giovani Adulti" dobbiamo riferire che essi sono le nostre speranze. Loro e it compito di custodire e tramandare le usanze delle nostre origini e ricordare alle nuove generazioni quanto i loro genitori hanno dato a questa terra che ci ospita. Mi sento in dovere di ringraziare gli Anziani e it loro comitato per l'assidua presenza al Club, per le feste che organizzano regolarmente e per l'apprezzatissima donazione al Club del televisore a schermo gigante. Vi sono alcune persone che sento doveroso ringraziare: Grazie a Rino Tessarotto per tutto it suo apporto dato alla squadra di calcio e per it qualificato aiuto net redigere questa pubblicazione e l'Eco Del Veneto. President's Report
I°
n analysing these last 25 years of associated activities, one can't but state that Venetians in Melbourne had been able to confront all obstacles that have arisen and, in each occasion, have been able to choose the best path for the well-being of the Club and all its Members. This is my third year as president of this association and I have led the Committee of management by following the good sense and good example of my predecessors, taking advantage of all the opportunities presented to us. Glancing through the accounts of these last years, I found that the fiscal year of 1992'93 has been a remarkable one, both in profits as in expenditures. We have in fact used a considerable sum of money to renovate the Sala Venezia, to rebuild the Rest Rooms in the Rialto Bar and to enlarge our Car Parking area. We have also built an under-cover footpath that leads from
the parking area to the entrance of the Club. We have been able to allow ourselves the luxury of such expenses thank to the proceeds of the Poker Machines. Indeed, our Club embraced this new activity which has proven itself, in a very short time, to be very profitable. For this latest achievement, we must thank Joe Robilotta and Ron Stone, who helped us with all the transactions necessary to obtain the require licence. A great public function was held for the opening of the Poker Machines Games Room, and the attendance at our Club, by a large number of our supplies, who distributed their products free of charge to all those present, was greatly appreciated. I am very grateful for their participation as it gave our Club a semblance of high professionalism and prestige. An other outstanding event worthily of note, was the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Club, which saw the Sala Venezia

over flowing with people, on the "Gala Evening". During the day, there was a Festa with a pleasant get together of all the country folk, who were offered culinary specialities, prepared by the various Venetian Provincial Associations. To all the Associations and in particular to those who prepared such delicious foods, I give a specials thanks, also, on behalf of all Club members. The majority of our activities were received with flattering success. I recognise the valuable support of all members and to all I extend a well deserved thanks. As far as the Committee of Management is concerned I have only words of gratitude. For the constant dedication of each member and for their individual support, I extend my warmest appreciation. Our most sincere gratitude goes to the Ladies Auxiliary, who has always, have demonstrated to be indispensable to the running of the Club. They give their all to various fund-raising activities which allow them to donate considerable sums of money to a number of organisations. Amongst the major organisations to which their funds have been donated we cite the Children's Hospital and the Centro Assisi. Over and above this most precious work, the Ladies Auxiliary have donated curtains to our Club, for the Sala Venezia, which cost a notable sum of $10,000. I would like to reaffirm all my gratitude and my acknowledgment to the volunteers who regularly help in the running and maintenance of the Club. To the Sporting Sub-Committees, beginning with the bowlers - congratulations for the placing of five of our players to represent Victoria in the Bocce Australian Championships in Brisbane, good luck and thank you for the good reputation you are giving us. An excellent effort to the Bulleen Veneto Soccer. Congratulations for being first on the ladder and the very best of wishes on behalf of all your supporters who follow you faithfully. In regards to Tennis, I have noticed that the courts are frequently used and are maintained extremely well. I always nurture the hope to see one of our tennis player, if not at Wimbledon, at least at
Kooyong. Have courage as, with time, all is possible. To the squash players and to the hunters, all the best, it is a pleasure to see you are in large number. I offer my encouragement to the Coro Veneto: yours is one of the more evocative arts. To our members: your performances are a cause for pride. We have great faith in the Young Adults Committee who represent our future. Theirs is the task of maintaining and passing on the customs of our origins and to remind the new generations of all that their parents have given to this land. I fell obliged to thank the Elderly and their Committee for their on-going presence at the Club, for the parties they regularly organise and for the extremely appreciated donation to the Club, of the giant screen television set. There are a number of people to whom I owe thanks: Thank you to Rino Tessarotto for all the support he has given to the Soccer team and for the expert help in this publication of L'Eco del Veneto editing. A thank you to David Barbieri for all the hours spent helping in the games room. Thank you also to Mario Bonis for his help with the Poker Machine and Bingo. Sincere thanks to Louis Crema, our Secretary and Person in Charge of the Construction Committee for all the work he has done. ari soci ed amici,
Eccomi nuovamente a voi in questa edizione speciale di fine d'anno finanziario. Quando riceverete it rapporto finanziario senz'altro quest'anno noterete un considerevole cambiamento nell'andamento amministrativo. Non c'e dubbio che le "Poker Machines" sono calde, e speriamo che lo rimangano a lungo. La maggior parte di voi avra certamente notato che i prezzi nei "menu" sono rimasti invariati ormai da quasi tre anni, spero solo di poterIi tenere a questo livello ancora per molto tempo. II "menu" domenicale ha incontrato molto successo: $23 per tre portate, piu iI caf fe e le bevande, sono senz'altro I'ideale per festeggiamenti familiari di ogni occasions. Sono certo che non mancherete di notare lavori di miglioramento in torso al Club e ho ragione di credere che it Comitato continuera a far progredire con nuove idee diverse aree del Club, sempre a secondo delle disponibilita finanziarie. Colgo l'occasione per ringraziare it Comitato per un ottimo anno di lavoro, colmo di soddisfazioni e per l'aiuto ricevuto dal Comitato e dai membri individualmente. A coloro che non ripresenteranno la loro candidatura per ii nuovo anno porgo i miei ringraziamenti e un cordiale arrivederci, a coloro che rimarranno e ai nuovi eletti auguro buon lavoro perche sono sicuro che it 1993/'94 sara un anno colmo di occasioni interessanti. Vorrei terminare ringraziando tutti i sottocomitati per la loro collaborazione e vorrei pregarvi di comunicarmi appena vi sara possibile le date delle vostre tens ufficiali, affinche si possano distribuire sul calendario del Club in modo da dare a tutti l'opportunita di organizzarsi. Dal primo Vice-Presidente olgo gradita Popportunita di peter ringraziare di cuore tutti i soci del Veneto Social Club, ed in particolare quel tanto gradito gruppetto di volontari che ogni anno continuano a darmi it loro appoggio e assistono it Club con it loro servizio in Sala San Marco alla domenica. Grazie di cuore, quest'anno con l'introduzione delle "Macchinette" e stato un anno di lavoro intenso, ma anche di molte soddisfazioni. 11 mio augurio per it nostro sodalizio è che continui ad operare e a svilupparsi sempre di pia, con quella efficacia e continuity che ha reso it Veneto Social Club un modello da imitare in seno alla famiglia delle associazioni italiane di questo stato. Eccoci nuovamente con voi su queste pagine con it nostro piccolo rapporto annuale. Siamo liete, come nel passato anche quest'anno, di essere state di aiuto al Club nelle sue attivita sociali e di aver continuato i nostri programmi nell'organizzare delle festicciole sempre a titolo di beneficienza. Siamo ancora una volta liete di poter rappresentare it nostro Club nella comunita Australiana con donazioni al Royal Children Hospital e alla comunita Italiana. Adesso vogliamo rivolgere un particolare ringraziamento alle signore che ci aiutano la domenica sera nella Sala San Marco come volontarie. Un grazie va rivolto a Pino per quello che fa per noi. Dal Comitato Bocce anno sociale 1992/'93 a finito e cosi colgo l'occasione per ringraziare tutti i giocatori di bocce per l'appoggio che mi hanno dato anche quest'anno. Io ho fatto del mio meglio per cercare di accontentare tutti, ma se in qualche caso, non ci sono riuscito, spero che mi perdonerete. Ancora una volta voglio ringraziare it sotto-comitato bocce per it lavoro che ha svolto durante tutto l'anno. Sebbene si diventi sempre vecchi, it lavoro dei campi da gioco e sempre stato fatto molto bene. Come sapete quelli che fanno it lavoro di manutenzione sono sempre i soliti e questo lavoro 6 oneroso. II sotto-comitato bocce "6 composto dalle seguenti persone: B.Vittadello (presidente), O.DiPietro (segretario), R.Polzella, M.Velo, M.Angeloni, S.Gatto, G.Gatto, R.Brazzale, G.DiDomenicis, A.Oscari, F.Cardinale e G.Trentin. Per quanto concerne la cronaca dell'anno trascorso possiamo dire che, come al solito, i giocatori del nostro Club si sono fatti onore in tutte le categorie. Nella categoria "S.L." abbiamo vin to quasi tutte le gare, nella "S.A." siamo andati pili che bene e nella "S.B." si sono distinti ii giovane Gustavo assieme a R.Pozzebon. Nella squadra che rappresenta lo stato del Victoria ai campionati, contiamo ben cilque bocciofili del nostro Club, ed essi sono: S.Gatto, E.Colla, M.Velo, A.Pozzer e G.D'Alessandro. II "Team Manager" A.Bolzanello, anch'esso del Veneto S.C. Al campionato australiano per i giovani bocciofili fino a 18 anni si e distinto it nostro giovane giocatore M.Favrin che ha vinto tutte e due le gare del tiro e si e piazzato secondo nelle rimanenti gare. II "Team Manager" era P.Gusatto; ad entrambi le nostre congratulazioni. L'anno scorso Silvio Gatto ha rappresentato l'Australia alla competizione mondiale che si e svolta in Cile piazzandosi al secondo posto. Congratulazioni per it suo onorevole piazzamento in campo internazionale. Fra le note dolorose dobbiamo rammentare it decesso del nostro caro consocio
A.Pozzebon. Comunque egli sara sempre presente nei nostri cuori sia come giocatore esemplare e sia come uomo e amico. Concludendo questa mia relazione vorrei ringraziare per tutto l'aiuto ricevuto durante l'anno it presidente del Club A.Martini e T.Signor.

Dalla Sezione Bocciofila Femminile anno 1992-'93 si e concluso discretamente considerando it numero limitatissimo delle nostre giocatrici. Congratulazioni alle poche rimaste. Ora a doveroso menzionare ('opera generosa ed instancabile delle signore del nostro sottocomitato. /el giorni dal 22 al 23 maggio scorso, al Veneto Social Club, l'Austalian Bocce Federation, ha tenuto un corso per arbitri. Nello stesso periodo di tempo si e svolto, sempre al Veneto Club, un "Development Camp" per giovani. Tutti i partecipanti rappresentavano vari stati dell'Australia. Vedendo rl successo ottenuto, la Federazione Australiana cerchera di farlo annualmente. Si e appena concluso a Brisbane, per la prima volta in Australia, it primo Congresso e Campionato Australiano Bocce Ladies. Sponsor la Federazione Australiana con l'aiuto dello "Sport Commission" di Canberra. E stato un successo e gia si pensa di ripetere la manifestazione it prossimo anno. Nel passato week-end, Queens Birthday, all'Australian Italian Bowling Club di Brisbane si e concluso it 24.mo Campionato Australiano Bocce Seniors. Sponsor la Benson & Hedges. Le gare sono state la quadretta, it doppio, it tiro progressivo e it tiro di precisione. Presenti tutti gli stati dell'Australia: Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Austra-
lia, A.C.T., Tasmania e Queensland. Durante it campionato si a tenuto pure it congresso annuale. Si e discusso motto riguardo alla "sponsorizzazione", ai giovani, agli arbitri e allenatori, ecc. I prossimi Campionati Mondiali Giovanili si terranno dal 20 al 25 luglio a Ljubjana. La squadra australiana sara la seguente: Milan, Matutinovich e Mark Sertorio del Western Australia, Michael Favrin del Victoria. A questi Mondiali si disputeranno gare di doppio, singolo, punto tiro, tiro progressivo e tiro di precisione. II Campionato Mondiale Seniors di Doppio si disputera dal 2 al 10 ottobre a Saluzzo, in Italia. Auguri alla squadra giovanile per Ljubjana e alla squadra senior per Saluzzo.

I resoconto dell'anno 1993 per la "Relazione Annuale" del Veneto
Social Club, non porta tante novita dal nostro gruppo. Abbiamo fatto una bella gita a Lilydale ed e riuscita molto bene. Altre gite saranno programmate finche it tempo lo permettera. I nostri pranzi sono sempre di un numero consistente di presenze. E bello vedere queste signore sempre eleganti che portano una nota di gioventU. I nostri bocciofili sono sempre di un elevato numero di persone, tanti che devono dare it cambio ad ogni partita a chi e in attesa.

Associazione Padovani nel Mondo o scorso 25 aprile Ia nostra Associazione ha tenuto l'annuale Assemblea Generale dei soci. Dopo un buon pranzo offerto a tutti i partecipanti, sono incominciati i lavori, con l'introduzione del presidente Sig. G.Miolo, seguito dalla relazione della segretaria Sig.ra G.Chiocchetti e del tesoriere Sig. G.Veronese. Tutte le mozioni sono passate all'unanimita e quindi si a proceduto all'elezione del nuovo comitato che ora e cosi cornposto: Presidente - G.Miolo; Vice-Presidente - E.Bertollo; Segretario - G.Chiocchetti; Tesoriere - G.Veronese; Relazioni Pubbliche - W.Reffo; Consiglieri - A.Barolo, G.Trentin, L.Sinigalia, L.Marchetti, S.Sonza, G.Piccolotto, O.Marchetti, D.Trntin, A.Sgarbossa;

Presidente Signore Ausiliarie - S.Piccolotto. Anche quest'anno le nostre attivita sociali sono state varie e numerose, picnic all'aperto, cene familiari e gite. L'evento piu importante e stato senz'altro it Primo Convegno delle Associazioni Padovane del S.A., Vic. e N.S.W. che si e svolto a Sydney. In una atmosfera di fraterna amicizia tra i partecipanti e dopo le gite e gli incontri di pragmatica, la serata di Gala al Club Marconi, si e conclusa con un successo indimenticabile. stato pure deciso che it prossimo incontro, si spera pure con la partecipazione del West Australia. La nostra Associazione ha aumentato ancora Ia sua consistenza numerica, con una ventina di nuovi iscritti, e questo dimostra chiaramente che i nostri soci procurando nuovi membri, sono orgogliosi di appartenere al nostro piccolo, ma dinamico gruppo. Secretary's Report
%t is again, with great pleasure that I pre/, sent my third successive Secretary's Report for the year ended april 30, 1993. This last year has seen the introduction of Poker Machines to the Veneto Social Club as an extra entertainment activity for those who choose to play and were we have positioned them at the Club's premises has not effected any other activities or disturbs those who wish not to play the gaming machines. In the last twelve months we have also carried out major building works in so far as renovating Sala Venezia, extending the Car Park facilities and replacing the air-conditioning to the Rialto Bar with a much stronger and efficient airconditioning system. Thanks to the income generated from the gaming machines, it has enabled the Club to carry out the works to the best quality as possible and also bought the works to fruition earlier than anticipated. We certainly hope that the interest these machines has created continues in the future. In February this year the Club celebrated its 20th anniversary which was a full house and an excellent night in which it was the first function held in Sala Venezia after it had been
renovated. We also have other functions corning up all the time such as picnics, dinner dances etc. and we appreciate as much member attendance as possible. I would know like to thank all the Office Staff for their hard work throughout the year and also all the subcommittees for their hard works and activities. As building Chairman we are currently looking at further renovating certain areas of the Club and as now the building has passed twenty years of age there are a lot of works required in order to keep tha Club premises up to a high standard. I still gladly advise that membership is still steady, if any thing, increased a little and would now like to take the opportunity in thanking the present Committee for their hard work and co-operation and would like to wish all the very best to the new Committee.

STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTING POLICIES This is not a general purpose financial report. It is a special purpose report prepared specifically for distribution to members in accordance with the Club's Constitution and to comply with the Corporations Law. The Club is of a type identified in Statement of Accounti ng Concepts 1 as a non-reporting entity. The accounts are drawn up in accordance with the accounti ng principles and methods prescribed by Statements of Accounti ng Concepts and applicable Accounting Standards, and contain the disclosure requirements of those Statements except for: AAS 3 'Accounting for Income Tax' AAS 4 'Depreciation of Non-Current Assets' AAS 10 'Accounting for the Revaluation of Non-Current Assets' AAS 28 'Statement of Cash Flows' because, in the opinion of the directors, to do so would have placed an unreasonable burden upon the entity for a comparab ly minor benefit. (i) Historical Cost Convention The attached financial statements have been prepared on the basis of historical costs and do not take into account changing money values. They have been prepared on an accruals basis from the records of the Club.

Freehold Buildings and Improvements - at cost $1840071 (1992 $1720505). No Depreciation has been provided on Buildings as the Club's policy is to regard Land and Buildings together as units of property and based on current appraisals, the combined values are in excess of cost.

Income Tax has not been provided. Calculations indicate that there will be no liability as past year tax losses exceed the notional taxable income. The Directors are of the opinion that the Trading Income may be exempt under the Income Tax Assessme nt Act.

AUDITORS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF VENETO SOCIAL CLUB (A Company Limited by Guarantee) A.C.N. 004 843 752 Scope: We have audited the financial statements set out on pages -28- to -34- . These statements have been prepared on the basis set out in Note 1 to the accounts. The directors of the Company are responsible for the preparation and presentation of the financial statements of the Club. We have conduct ed an independent audit of these accounts in order to express an opinion of them to the members of the Club. Our audit has been conducted in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards to provide reasonable assurance as to whether the accounts are free of material misstatement. Our procedures included examination, on a test basis, of evidence supporting the accounts and other disclosures in the financial statements, and the evaluation of accounting policies and significant accounting estimates. These procedures have been undertaken to form an opinion as to whether, in all material aspects the financial statements:(i)
are presented fairly in accordance with the histori c cost basis of accounting outlined in Note 1 to the accounts, and
(ii)
present a true and fair view in accordance with the requirements of the Corporations Laws,
so as to present a view of the company which is consist ent with our understanding of its financial position and the results of its operations. The financi al statements have not been prepared as a general purpose financi al report in accordance with Statements of Accounting Concepts and Accounting Standar ds. The audit opinion expressed in this report has been formed on the above basis. the Committee (Directors) of the Veneto Social Club (a by Guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th Income and Expenditure Statement for the year ended on that as follows:
The Members of the Committee (Directors) in office at the date of this report were: Messrs. A. Martini, D. Barbieri, A. Pozzebon, L. Crema, C. Stocco, R. Bordin, F. Bortolotto, G. Cattapan, P. Ferronato, A. Rossiani, R. Rostolis, L. Sella and T. Signor.

The principal activity of the Club during the year ended 30th April, 1993 was to provide social amenities to its members and no significant changes in the nature of these activities occurred during the year.
3.
The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $612754. Income Tax has not been provided because it is considered that Income Tax losses available from past years will offset the taxable portion of the Surplus (if any).
4.
There were no shares or debentures issued during the year.
5.
No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company.
6.
Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared.
7.
No significant changes in the state of affairs of the Club occurred during the financial year.
8.
No matters or circumstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations of the Club, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the Club in financial years subsequent to the financial year ended 30th April, 1993.
9.
Since the 30th April, 1992 no member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and members of the Committee.
10.
No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding.

Treasurer's Report t gives me a great deal of pleasure once again to report on the Financial Activities of the Club for the year ended 30th April, 1993. The Club has continued to trade very well, particularly in the gaming machines area, where the results have been quite remarkable. The Club had a Restaurant and Bar Trading loss of $4580 after allowing for Abnormal Expenditure of $260176 represented by major improvements to the Gaming Room $20162, Rialto Toilets $34322, Sala Venezia $178664 and the Rialto Bar AirConditioning $27028. The loss is down on last years result by only $1967. The total of Restaurant and Bar Sales have increased by $290577 to 1728780, but the cost of sales has increased by $129055 and wages have increased by $130748 to $446390. Membership Donations & Interest Received of $162636 up $52656, have given us an overall operating profit of $158056, less the Abnormal Expenditure, the Club finished with a loss of $102120. Other activity income has decreased by $12247, mainly due again to the increase in Soccer Expenses. The Clubs expenses have increased by $28584.
The Gaming Income & Expenditure Statement shows our total income for the 8 and 1/2 months of operation to be $1029767. Total expenses of $314893, the major expense being wages of $199127, gives an operating surplus of $714874. Add this to Trading loss of $102120 and we show an Operating profit of $612754. The Balance Sheet of the Club is in an extremely healthy state with the Total Current Assets at $944745 compared to Total Liabilities of $347346. Finally, I would like to thank Agostino Martini for his valuable contribution in what has been a difficult 12 months especially in the lead up to opening of the Gaming Machines room, and to the main Committee for their support. Also, my thanks to the Finance Committee for their valuable advice, and to the Office Staff, John Cobain, Mario Bonis and Linda Stoppa for their help during this time.

Ente Vicentini nel Mondo 7 ono appena sceso dal 747 dell'Alitalia e mi ritrovo a Melbourne che sembra essere stato disertato proprio dai vicentini. Infatti quasi 300 sono andati a Dromana e Por tsea per la nostra tradizionale castagnata, un altro gruppo invece e andato in Italia con to stesso aereo che mi ha riportato a Melbourne. Tra la numerosa corrispondenza trovo I'invito del Direttore de "L'Eco del Veneto" a fargli pervenire it rapporto di fine anno finanziario per l'altro ieri. Spero per6 di fare in tempo perche mi preme farvi sapere che a Vicenza mi sono incontrato con molte personality politiche, religiose e sportive e tutti mi hanno raccomandato di estendere a tutti i soci del nostro Ente i loro auguri e i loro ossequi. Penso sia piacevole per tutti ii sapere che a Vicenza hanno un grande ricordo della nostra associazione e che ci seguono molto da vicino. Un nuovo distintivo da distribuirsi ad ogni socio ci e stato gentilmente donato da Vicenza ed ho ricevuto le congratulazioni perche con it continuo aumento dei soci siamo tra le cinque associazioni pia numerose dell'ENTE Vicentini di tutto ii mondo. Anche quest'anno abbiamo ottenuto dei risultati economici soddisfacenti e siamo riusciti a mantenere le nostre donazioni al Centro Assisi e a Padre Savino che ci ha anche fatto una visitina qualche settimana fa per ringraziarci personalmente della generosity con cui noi assistiamo i1 suo apostolato nelle Filippine. Dobbiamo pert, dire che anche noi siamo sempre circondati da tanta generosity e voglio espressamente ringraziare tutti coloro che sponsorizzano le nostre gite, it picnic e le lotterie, in particolare it Sig. Ilario Rigoni delle gioiellerie Stella ed it Sig. Stella del Dromana Hotel, e la direzione ed it Comitato del Veneto Social Club. Per concludere voglio congratularmi con tutti voi soci per it vostro sostegno e con it comitato per la professionalita e la dedizione dimostrata ad ogni opportunity.

he Veneto Club" new interior was designed by Con Bahramis of Crema
& Bahramis, using Venice as his inspiration. The club's refurbishment included the replacement of the entire bar and servery area and the renovation of the dining room. The shapes and colours in this room can create various moods, depending on the lighting and time of day. This allows the area to be used successfully for a multitude of uses. It is regularly used for formal dinners, luncheons, dances, meetings and conferences, and other forms of entertainment. Schiavello Commercial Interiors acted as Head Contractor for the project, providing Veneto Club members with a practical and beautiful

Veronesi nel Mondo

nche quest'anno i "Veronesi nel Mondo" di Melbourne hanno voluto festeggiare la tradizionale festa del "Papa del Gnocco". La festa si a rivelata motto sentita e tanti veronesi ed amid hanno voluto fame parte. Gli gnocchi che venivano serviti con it carrello, tavolo per tavolo, erano abbondanti e per la maggior parte con replica. Questo anche grazie alla collaborazione del bravo cuoco e di tutti i camerieri, non di meno era la Sala Venezia, che appena rinnovata, dava pia accoglienza. Dopo questa festa suggestiva, it picnic del tesseramento, poi la solita castagnata che anche quest'anno ha visto sempre pia numerosi i veronesi ed amid. 11 prossimo incontro sara per it 7 agosto 1993, per la tradizionale festa annuale, sempre nella Sala Venezia del Veneto Social Club. Gli avvenimenti dello scorso anno:
La prima Assemblea Annuale, l'incorporazione, ecc., hanno creato un mondo di cose nuove in rispetto ali'amministrazione del nostro gruppo, ma, grazie all'intero comitato, oggi tutti i nostri registri di contabilita, elenco dei soci, ecc., sono sempre aggiornati e chiarissimi. Attualmente l'elenco postale numera 295 famiglie, per6, di queste, soltanto 140 hanno rinnovato la tessera annuale. Ovviamente, quest'anno si dovra aggiornare l'elenco dei soci a questo numero di 140 perchd le spese per mantenere i contatti con tutti sono grandi, particolarmente it costo della rivista "Asiago, leri, Oggi, Domani" spedita a tutti direttamente da Mons. Don Antonio. Vorrei anche rendervi noto che it vostro contributo di $10 raccolti annualmente col pagamento della tessera, fa spedito a Don Antonio in marzo di quest'anno, ed ecco a voi ii suo messaggio: .Ho ricevuto la raccomandata con it vostro assegno per la rivista "Asiago, left Oggi, Domani". Associazione Trevisani nel Mondo er i Trevisani it 1992 e stato un anno pieno di attivita che hanno avuto un bel successo. Furono organizzate quattro serate con cena e ballo, due al Veneto Club, una a Werribee e una al Freccia Azzurra Club. Naturalmente it "dinner Dance" di novembre, a conclusione delle attivita, ha sempre un gran successo perch& in quest'ultima serata sono premiati coloro che da piu di trent'anni vivono in Australia. Anche quest'anno furono una quarantina coloro Agosto 1992 - Trevisani a Napoli pronti per imbarcarsi alla che ricevettero, dal presidente Be- volta di Palermo. end assieme ai trevisani di Ii, un gruppo di circa 40 persone partiva col presidente Beppi, it segretario Padre Giuliano, it consigliere Lino alla volta dell'Italia per passare tre mesi di vacanza coi parenti. Ebbero anche Ia fortuna di fare una fermata di quattro giorni a Bangkok e insieme visitare quella dad. In agosto poi una trentina di trevisani d'Australia assieme a una dozzina di trevisani dall'Italia ebbero Ia gioia di fare un tour di 12 giorni e con successo in Sicilia fermandosi al ritorno per due giorni ad Assisi. Fu una esperienza meravigliosa in tutti i sensi. Si e visto che 6 cosi Novembre 1992 - 1 pionieri con p/U di 30 anni di Australia facile sparlare di certe parti premiati durante il "Dinner Dance" ne/Ia Sala Venezia del dell'Italia e della popolazione Veneto Social Club. quando invece a dire it vero si trova it buonc ed it cattivo un po' dappertutto!!! Era bello it mercoledi, giorno di mercato, trovarsi a Montebelluna una ventina di "Australiani" pieni "de bon temp" a raccontarThe airline of Italy sela e scambiare idee e notizie Un po' alla volta tutti fecero ritorno in Australia verso la fine di ottobre per riprendere Ia loro vita qui. Per it 1993 non ci sono progetti straordinari per i Trevisani. In aprile un gruppo di 45 persone fecero una gita di cinque giorni a Cooma, Wagga Wagga, Griffith. Swan Hill. II tempo era meraviglioso, Ia compagnia bellissima e quindi tutti tornarono soddisfatti anche da 04TEFX questa gita. II prossimo anno Melbourne ospitera it convegno di trevisani da tutta Australia. Veneto Young Adults
T
he Veneto Young Adults sub-Committee is now in its 4th year, and we believe has made a valuable contribution to the Veneto Club - in particular the active participation of the Younger Veneti with in the Club's activities. At the initiation of the then President of the Veneto Social Club, Cay. Rino Tessarotto and Secretary Mr Frank Pezzin at a meeting held on the 30th November 1989 the Veneto Young Adults Committee was born. The primary focus of this Committee was to revitalise the interest of the 18 and older age group. Since our commencement we have trialled a number of activities to meet our primary focus (some successful, some only modestly successful). Successful activities have included the Annual Christmas Cabaret (now a fixed calendar event), the introduction of children's activities - in particular rides and entertainment at the Club's chestnut and Christmas picnics and Spring Carnival, Snow picnic and Car Rallies.
The Christmas Cabaret held on the 5th December, was a huge success, duplicating the success of the previous 4 Cabarets held. Popular band "Run Spot Run" and a DJ entertained all on the night and left all people asking "when is the next one on?" Our Committee has continually supported the senior Committee's functions, including the President's and Club Anniversary Dinner Dances. It is with pride that the younger Veneti Adults occupy a strong presence (which continue to grow) at these nights, which have been thoroughly enjoyed.

n what promises to be a very exciting 1993, the BulleenVeneto Soccer Club anxiously awaits the National League Commissioner's decision on whether its application for admission into the National League is successful. The decision is due in the mid-June and the Club through the backing of the Social Club is hopeful of success. The Veneto-Lions commenced its 1993 soccer season by finishing 3rd in the Coppa Italia. This season it was staged as a pre-season tournament with the final series being held at the Veneto Club. The 1993 Premier League Season commenced on March 3rd and finishes on 15th August, 1993, with the Championship winner being decided by a top 5 final series to be played at the end of the season with the Grand Final being held on Sunday September 19. For the 1993 Premier League Season the Lions have recruited the following players: Striker - Pat Giaccherini - ex Thomastown; Goalkeeper - Jeff Olver - ex Heidelberg, Utd (NSL) ex Australian Socceroos International; Defender - Tom Sonsini - ex B.U. Juventus;
The Senior List for 1993 is as follows: Keepers - J.Olver, R.Di Francesco; Defenders - F.Valentic, T.Marsan, B.Tsiakos, M.Vesnaver, R.Krajack, F.Alessio, T.Sonsini; Midfielders - A.Grbac, M.Branov, D.Tiatto, F.Incantalupo (retired); Forwards - P.Giaccherini, S.Thodis, S.Patterson, D.Marino. After 12 rounds into the Premier League Season, BulleenVeneto finds itself on top of the Premier League ladder and hopefully it can remain there for the remainder of the season and go one better than last year and clinch the top 5 series. The season began on a sour note when after 4 rounds Fab Incantalupo broke his leg once again bringing to an end his fabulous career. All our wishes go to Fab for a speedy recovery and many thanks for the joy he brought to the Veneto Club with his on field artistry. The senior coach for the 1993 season is once again Andy Bozikas, who after three years at the helm is very determined in keeping the Lions play their entertaining brand of soccer.

Junior Soccer Report

ast year was a very successful year for the Club with the under 11's finishing second in their league. The under 13's finished second in their league and won the JLMC Cup. The under 14's finished second in their league. The under 15's were most successful team being undefeated and winning the super league, the JLMC Cup and the Italian Cup. The under 18's won their league and were runners up in the GLMC Cup. This year has seen big changes in the Junior Leagues with only under 12, 14, 16 and 18 leagues. The only super league are under 15 and 16. We have under 12, 14A, 14B, 15 (Super League) and 16 (Super League) teams this season. The under 12's have started well and are

Spring Carnival 1992
T
he Tennis Club has had another successful season. The Spring Carnival, held last November, was a great success with Junior, Men's and Ladies teams competing against other clubs. Three Veneto teams won their events: Junior Girls Doubles - Vanessa Basso and Linda Luca; Junior Boys Doubles - John Polazzon and Willie Pang; Ladies Doubles - Jackie Ciuffatelli and Maria Bertoncello. The Club Championship, held in February and March, brought an exhibition of excellent tennis from our junior and senior players, who this year were able to choose from a wider range of sections. The section 2 Junior Twilight team consisting of Simon Caico, Willie Pang, David Costantin, David Testolin and John Polazzon won their finals. The two Pennant Teams which play Saturday afternoons are progressing well as are the eleven Junior Teams, numbering approximately 80 boys and girls, who compete in the NEJTA competition on Saturday mornings. They are very keen and have had great results. We all need to keep encouraging and supporting them. Thank you to all who attended the tennis BBQ in December when the Juniors were presented with their trophies. Men's and Ladies teams are also well represented in the competitions with 12 men's teams and 6 ladies teams.

Dal Coro Veneto ari Amici, sono contento di salutare tramite questo piccolo rapporto tutti i soci del Veneto S.C. dal Presidente fino all'ultimo; in particolare che ci appoggia perche sarebbe un peccato far tramontare quelle belle tradizioni di canti delle nostre terre e perch& anche quando si canta non si fa del male a nessuno e si esprime la contentezza interna. Quest'anno abbiamo partecipato a diverse attivita: quando it nostro Club ci richiede not siamo sempre e ben volentieri pronti a dare del nostro meglio.
II Coro Veneto
sette novembre abbiamo fatto un "Dinner Dance" net nostro Club ed e riuscito molto bene. Nel periodo pre natalizio abbiamo rappresentato it nostro Club con un piccolo ma bellissimo numero al "Carols in the Gardens" organizzato dal Comune di Doncaster. Verso la meta di giugno siamo sempre puntuali ad andare a Werribee a cantarc la Santa Messa per la festa di S.Antonio. Queste sono parte delle nostre attivita, che son troppo numerose per elencarle tutte. Riassumendo siamo un gruppo motto cornpatto e molto volenteroso, guidati dal nostro bravo Maestro Giampiero Canil, pieno di tanta
pazienza e buona volonta. Per questo gli diciamo un bel, "Grazie Piero". Colgo questa occasione per fare un appello a qualsiasi altra persona, con un po' di buona volonta e con una voce discreta, che desideri di far parte del nostro gruppo, di farlo sapere a qualsiasi membro del Coro o al Veneto Social Club. Squash Report / //he 1992 Clubs Championship was won by Lou Dalla Riva in one of the closets finals for many years. Lou defeated Ron Barbano 10-8 in the fifth and deciding game. Congratulations to both Ron and Lou on a fine performance, both were seeking their first championship. The Handicap Championship was an equally demanding match which saw two of the Club 's younger members competing for the title. Robert Giovannini (handicap 35) defeated Anthony Buccello (30) with a score of 84-72 after 20 minutes of continuos squash, a fine effort by both players.
In the Club Circuit of the Squash Rackets Association, the Club again competed with five teams both for the Spring 1992 Pennant and the Current Autumn '93 Pennant Series. Throughout the Spring it appeared likely that the Club might take out 3 Flags, with the C.1, D.1, and E.3 teams all close to top of the ladder. Just before the finals however, the C.1 and E.3 teams both unfortunately lost key players and were beaten in Semi-finals. The D.I team, comprising Anthony Buccello, John Coleman, Oscar Morandini, Claude Franciscelli and Angelo Antignani, went through the second round undefeated and continued on to win the Semi-final and the Grand-final 4-0

against Mulgrave Country Club. A Presentation Night was held in conjunction with the Tennis Clubs Gala Dinner Dance in April. As we go to the press, the Autumn Season draws to a close. The Club has four of its five teams fighting for places in the finals. Hopefully the Club will take out at least one Pennant. Current position of the teams are as follows: B.3 Grade - 2nd (Captain Chris Apswoude); C.I Grade - 4th (Captain Mario Siliato); C.3 Grade - 4th (Captain John Coleman); D.2 Grade - 7th (Captain Joe Maciocca); E.3 Grade - 3rd (Captain Lou Dal Santo). In concluding, the Squash Club would like to thank the Clubs Office Staff for their cooperation and assistance throughout the year and also the Bar and the kitchen Staff for their excellent services which has helped to maintain the Veneto Clubs high reputation throughout the Squash fraternity.

II Cay. Rino Tessarotto, in rappresentanza del Cornit.Es., ringrazia tutti coloro che 'hanno partecipato alle gare sportive e tutti coloro che si sono adoperati in collaborazione per l'organizzazione delle stesse.
Una gara di Bocce Interclub si e svolta al Veneto Social Club. Nella foto sono esposti i trofei in patio.

trofeo vinto per la gara di Golf organizzata dall"Italian Golf Association e svoltasi al Northern Golf Club. Nella foto vediamo anche it Capitano Giuseppe Basignano dell'I.G.A.
In occasione dei festeggamenti per ce/ebrare l'anniversario del/a Repubblica Italiana, diversi avvenimenti sportivi hanno animato la giornata. Alcune gare sportive sono state patrocinate dal Consolato Generale d'Italia a Melbourne e fra queste le gare di calcio per squadre giovanili svoltesi nei campi da gioco del Veneto Social Club.
