Relazione del presidente

Siamo giunti al termine dell'anno finanziario ed 6 mio dovere di presidente presentare a voi soci ii rapporto annuale, lieto di annunciare che anche quest'anno it nostro sodalizio ha usufruito di una serie di attivita sociali, culturali e sportive che hanno permesso a tutti di parteciparvi secondo i propri interessi e desideri. Malgrado inflazioni, aumenti salariali, e aumenti generali delle spese di gestione e manutenzione, siamo riusciti ad assorbire la maggior parte dei costi generali senza dover pesare eccessivamente sul contributo dei soci e abbiamo concluso l'anno finanziario in attivo. Ritengo che in futuro dovremo seriamente considerare e decidere se gli aumenti dei costi dovranno essere assorbiti dall'amministrazione a scapito degli utili netti, se cioe tali aumenti dovranno essere affrontati dai soci che frequentano pia assiduamente it Club o se dovranno essere a carico di tutti i soci indistintamente e in maniera uguale. Come nel passato, it programma delle attivita sara molto ricco nel prossimo futuro. Innanzitutto avremo, nel mese di luglio, it campionato giovanile di Bocce al quale hanno assicurato la loro partecipazione pia di 10 nazioni. Avremo la visita del presidente della Regione Veneto, it prof. Carlo Bemini che verra in Australia con una delegazione, e del patriarca di Venezia Sua Eccellenza Mons. Marco Ce. In tale occasion la Regione Veneto presenters al pubblico di Melbourne una mostra di opere d'arte e di artigianato che dal 15 agosto a fine ottobre sara esposta alla Town Hall. A meta ottobre sari la volta dell'Associazione Trevisani nel Mondo a visitare l'Australia con una forte delegazione che ci proporra una vasta panoramica del oVeneto-Oggio. Vorrei ricordare a tutti i soci ed amici di partecipare agli incontri che avranno luogo in queste occasioni. Sono contributi di prestigio alla celebrazione del Bicentenario d'Australia e motivo per conservare dei bellissimi ricordi.

Durante l'anno sono stab portati a termine diversi lavori. Tra i pia importanti ricordo quelli relativi al soffitto della sala San Marco ed alla grande e bellissima entrata; realizzazioni che conferiscono alla nostra sede una veste pia modema. Queste opere, assieme a quelle di manutenzione generale, sono state completate al costo complessivo di circa 230. 000 dollari. Per l'anno prossimo it Direttivo ha in programma it rifacimento dell'asfalto nel "car park", un riassetto ed un incremento della vegetazione (cespugli, alberi, fiori ecc.) nell'area dello stesso "car park" e attomo alla sede, opere di ristrutturazione ed abbellimento della hall d'entrata. Quanto a stato ottenuto nei dodici mesi trascorsi merito di. un Comitato direttivo che ha lavorato con impegno e serieta in tutti i settori. Di cis a doveroso prendere atto. Esprimo ai membri di tale Comitato la mia pia viva gratitudine, che estendo a tutti i soci volontari, alle nostre signore ausiliarie ed alle loro amiche volontarie, alle donne impegnate negli eventi sportivi del tennis, bocce e calcio, ai Sottocomitati sportivi e culturali. II supporto di queste persone stato determinante per i successi raggiunti. Ed ora un breve cenno ai van Sottocomitati e gruppi che costituiscono l'anima di tutte le nostre manifestazioni. II Comitato delle signore ausiliarie ha ancora una volta coronato con un brillante successo molte iniziative, prima fra tutte la partecipazione del Club al concorso di Miss Italian Community. Marisa Chiocchetti dopo essere stata coronata Miss Veneto Charity Queen si a aggiudicata it primo posto in Miss Italian Community Charity Queen. Per tale successo devo anche ringraziare Marisa e i suoi genitori Sergio e Gabriella che hanno svolto un grande lavoro aggiungendo cosi onore e prestigio al nostro Club. Le sezioni Bocce, femminile e maschile, continuano a costituire it pemo delle nostre pia importanti attivita sportive, dando vita ad un nutrito programma di tomei statali ed interstatali. Desidero esprimere un grazie al Sottocomitato giovanile che ha saputo crearsi una solids ed efficiente organizzazione, e l'augurio che nel futuro possa consolidarsi ancor pia. Un doveroso senso di riconoscimento vada al direttore sportivo ed ai Sottocomitati che hanno con passion tenuto fede ai loro impegni e mantenuto sempre alto it nome del Veneto Social Club. Esprimo la mia gratitudine ai Coristi che sono l'orgoglio del nostro Club ed ogniqualvolta si esibiscono ci ricordano nelle loro canzoni l'Italia e it Veneto in particolare. Un grazie di cuore ai membri del Comitato direttivo che organizzano i settori eVolontario, gBingoo, ÂŤManutenzione del Club e Giardinoo ÂŤBottle Shop, agli incaricati delle sezioni sportive e culturali al Sottocomitato giovanile ed

ai direttivi delle Associazioni provinciali venete che frequentano regolarmente la nostra sede e condividono con not gli stessi sentimenti ed interessi. Nel concludere vorrei ringraziare tutti i soci che hanno frequentato con assiduity it nostro Club, i membri del Finance Committee» e it nostro avvocato L. Sartori per tutu i consigli e 1'assistenza dataci ogniqualvolta richiesta. Vorrei ringraziare inoltre it manager cay. R. Di Bari e tutto it personale del Club per it loro coscienzioso lavoro, it personale d'ufficio che ha facto tutto it possibile per sopperire alle necessity del Club, organizzare it viaggio dei giovani in Italia e la pubblicazione dell'«Eco del Veneto». President's Report As the end of another financial year approaches, it is my duty and obligation as president to present to the members an annual report. This year, as in previous years we have seen an incredible number of activities within the club, social, cultural and sports, allowing our members to participate and follow their particular interests. Notwithstanding the increased rate of inflation such as increases in wages, purchases and the general day to day expenses which are incurred in running and maintaining an establishment of this calibre, we have been able to absorb the greater part of these costs thus keeping the inevitable increases to our members at a minimun. We should however seriously consider in the future whether the above mentioned increases should be absorbed by the club's nett profit, or by the members who most frequently use our club and its facilities, or, that it should be absorbed by every member in total. As in the past, the future programme of activities for our club is a most exciting one. July '88 will commence with the «25th World Bocce doubles Youth Tournament & 3rd World Youth throwing Championships» whereby over 10 Nations are participating. Prof. Carlo Bernini, president of the «Regione Veneto» and his delegation, his eminence, cardinal Marco Ce Patriarch of Venice will be arriving shortly after, and for this occasion the Veneto Region will present to Australia an incredible exhibition of arts/crafts which will be exhibited at the Melbourne Lower Town Hall, works of art by «Carpaccio», «Tintoretto», and «Tiziano Vecellio» which will be exhibited at the Melbourne Art Centre, the world renowned «Solisti Veneti» led by soprano Cicilia Gasdia who will perform two concerts. In midoctober the association «Trevisani nel Mondo» will visit Australia and will be strongly represented with works such as «Veneto-Oggio. I would like to remind all our members to actively participate at all these occasions, they are contributions from our re-

gion for the Australian Bicentenary, and one that will be certainly remembered for many years to come. The year has brought to a close a number of works such as the ceiling in the San Marco Ballroom and the magnificent entrance to the Club property, all of which have enhanced the appearance and decor, and rendered our club most modern. These works, together with general maintenance, have been completed at a cost of approx. $230,000.0C For the coming year the committee have programmed the refurbishment of the car-park as well as replanting of trees and shrubs in the club's grounds. All of these achievements have been made possible due to the intense attitude of a dedicated committee which has worked extremely hard over the past twelve months. And it is with this in mind, that I openly express my most sincere gratitude for all they have done. To the voluntary workers, the ladies auxiliary and their voluntary help, to all the sub-committees, to the many people who assist in the various sporting and social activities, my most humble thanks, for without you this past year would not have enjoyed the success it has had. I would like to dedicate a few words to the various sub-committees that are the hub of all our activities. The Ladies Auxiliary, it is difficult to name all that is achieved by this group of dedicated ladies, the highlight of their year being the Miss Veneto Quest, which this past year brought forward Miss Marisa Chiocchetti as the winner of not only Miss Veneto Charity Queen but also Miss Italian Community Charity Queen, and here my thanks must also go to Marisa's parents Sergio and Gabriella Chiocchetti for their part in assisting the Club to attain such prestige. My thanks to the Bocce participants, both male and female who are one of the largest sporting bodies within our Club. Bocce tournaments are held at Club and State level, and thus creating an enormous activity within the club.

To the Youth sub-committee I congratulate you and thank you, for you have been able over the past twelve months to consolidate an efficient group of workers that have contributed not only to the club, but to the children of our members, and I wish you an even greater success in the future. My sincere thanks go also to the sports manager and the sub-committees that with dedication and contribution to all sports within the club have made the name of the Veneto Social Club a force to reckon with. I extend my gratitude to the Veneto Choir, this is a group of which we are very proud, and each time they perform they not only exuberate their professionalism but take us back in time to many happy memories of our youth and homeland. My sincere thanks to the members of my Committee who do an enormous job in organizing the voluntary workers, the Bingo, the maintenance of the Club property, the Bottle Shop, all persons responsible for the cultural/social activities, the Youth Subcommittee and finally to the associations of the 7 Provinces who have made our club their home. I would like to conclude by thanking most sincerely all the members who have patronized the Club over the past twelve months, the members of the finance sub-committee, and the club solicitor Mr Loris Sartori. To our manager Cay. Rolando Di Bari who has worked with dedication and in the interest of our Club, and his staff for their conscientious efforts, the office staff who have done all in their power for the smooth running of the administration and in the organizing of the student trips to Italy and the publication of l'Eco del Veneto, I thank you, and finally to all the members their families and friends, I thank you most sincerely.

Visita alla nostra Regione

11 Veneto Social Club di Melbourne in collaborazione con la Regione Veneto organizza nel periodo dal 18 settembre al 2 ottobre un viaggio-soggiomo nel Veneto per giovani figli di emigrati. La Regione coprira parte del costo del viaggio ed ospitera i giovani durante la loro permanenza nel Veneto offrendo alloggio ed escursioni turistiche. E' un'esperienza utile e piacevole. VISIT TO AUSTRALIA OF PROF. CARLO BERNINI PRESIDENT OF THE VENETO REGION AND HIS EMINENCE CARDINAL MARCO CE' PATRIARCH OF VENICE We wish to advise that President Bernini and his delegation will arrive in Melbourne on Saturday, 27th. August, 1988 and at approx. 5.50 a.m. The President will be greeted at Tullamarine Airport by: The Veneto Social Club Committee, the Australian Committee Assisting Venice Region Participation in Australian Bicentennial, and various Associations. It is proposed that a small reception be held at the Airport upon his arrival and afterwards escorted to the Motel. His Eminence, Cardinal Marco a Patriarch of Venice will arrive on the 21st. August '88, but it is anticipated that he will not be in Melbourne until Friday, 2nd. Septmber 1988. At 12.30 p.m. (same day) President Bernini will host a Luncheon for members of the two committees and other guests as named at the Veneto Social Club so that they may all become better acquainted, and in the evening, President Bernini will be a guest of Australian/Italian Delegates at a private Dinner (7.00 p.m.). For this 1988 Australian Bicentenary, we have the honour of having, and performing in all Australian States, the internationally famous «Solisti Venetia led by Soprano Cicilia Gasdia. Two concerts will be held in Melbourne as follows: Sunday 28th. August 1988 at the Melbourne Town Hall. Monday 29th. August 1988 at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Both concerts will be attended by President Bernini. (More details of these concerts will be made available as soon as they come to hand). During the period specified above, there will be a spectacular exhibition of Arts and Crafts from the Region held in the Lower Town Hall of the Melbourne Town Hall, and also three famous works of art (as set out hereunder) exhibited at the Melbourne Arts Centre. Carpaccio «Il leone andante», Tintoretto «L'invenzione della croce», Tiziano Vecellio «San Giovanni elemosinario». Saturday, 3rd. September, 1988, President Bemini and his delegation will visit the Veneto Social Club (mid-afternoon), a Huge Sport-a-thon will be held in

his honour during the afternoon followed by a Gala Ball in the evening. The Gala Ball will be attended by President Bernini, His Eminence Cardinal Ce, Delegates from Italy, Religious Dignitaries, Members of the Italian and Australian Political and Diplomatic services and 'Civil Representatives. Invitations to the Gala Ball will also be issued to Presidents of the various «Enti». Italian Clubs and others as named. Brief speeches will be made during the course of evening, but these will be limited, and only made by an Australian Dignitary, the Italian Consul General and myself in order that some time be allocated to speeches by President Bernini and the Patriarch. At an opportune time, the President, Patriarch and other dignitaries will visit the San Marco Ballroom and then proceed to the sporting complex whereby they will be able to meet with the many sporting bodies within the Club as well as visitors, they will meet also the participants of the various sporting events held during that day and finally President Bernini will be kindly asked to present the trophies to the winners. It is anticipated that the evening will conclude at approx. 12.30 p.m.. Sunday 4th. September, 1988 His Eminence will celebrate Holy Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral Melbourne and at 2.30 p.m. After mass, light refreshments will be served (pizza style) for all present, (It is anticipated that this particular event will be televised). I have outlined this programme in details so that you may all be informed of this very special occasion. Dal direttore del Club

Sono trascorsi due anni da quando sono alla direzione del Veneto Club, dopo un'assenza di 10 anni, e in questo periodo sono stati fatti molti progressi in diversi settori, dalle attivita sociali ai lavori di restauro ed abbellimento della sede, dall'incremento delle manifestazioni sportive al servizio ristorante ecc. Quello che mi rallegra a lo «spirito» che regna in seno al nostro sodalizio, lo stesso entusiasmo che si riscontrava negli anni difficili tra it '73 e it '76

quando con units di intenti si sono poste le basi di un Club oggi prospero e di sicuro avvenire. Tutto 66 a dovuto ail'attaccamento dei soci, in particolare dei «pionieri» ancor oggi instancabili sostenitori delle tante iniziative promosse dal Direttivo. La collettivita sia italiana che australiana si compiace dei nostri successi e lo testimonia con la richiesta di organizzare presso la nostra sede incontri conviviali e manifestazioni sportive. Nei quindici anni dalla inaugurazione della sede molto a stato ottenuto grazie ai Comitati direttivi, l'attuale e quelli del passato, ai Sottocomitati, al personale impiegato dal Club in particolare in segreteria, alle persone volontarie che prestano la loro opera al bar, in cucina, in sala, nei lavori di manutenzione ed altro. Mi auguro che in avvenire continui lo stesso spirito di collaborazione per raggiungere risultati sempre piit soddisfacenti. Ricordo ai soci di frequentare la sede e di usufruire del suo eccellente servizio logistico per feste familiari, matrimoni, fidanzamenti, compleanni ecc. Questo invito lo rivolgo alle ditte ed ai gruppi aziendali e sociali: it Veneto Club per incontri conviviali (Xmas party ad esempio), pranzi e cene di lavoro, a disponibile con un servizio di quanta e la massima attenzione. Un grazie di cuore a tutti i soci e loro famigliari per la stima che nutrono nei miei confronti e per la collaborazione. Cay. Rolando Di Bari

Dal 1° vice-presidente E' gia trascorso un anno dal mio ultimo messaggio su queste colonne da «L'eco del VenetoD. Si susseguono glom, mesi ed anni a conferma non solo della rapidita del tempo ma anche del lungo carnmino che ho percorso in seno al Club, come socio ed amministratore. Sono infatti da 17 anni membro del Comitato e da 14 vicepresidente. Un arco di tempo molto vasto ed impegnativo durante it quale ho offerto con generosita ed entusiasmo la mia competenza e collaborazione. Dall'apertura della sede ad oggi ho avuto it piacere di

conoscere moite persone, soci e non soci, che usufruiscono delle nostre strutture sociali e ricreative. E' una conoscenza che mi permette d'essere ottimista a riguardo del futuro del nostro sodalizio poicM ho personalmente sperimentato di quanta capacity e dedizione siano dodati i nostri soci ed in particolare i volontari. Sono per questo riconoscente a quanti si prestano ai Bars, in particolare all'organizzatore Davide Barbieri, durante i Picnics, gli in-

contri sportivi, in sala San Marco dove it Comitato Femminile e alcune mogli di soci sono instancabili nell'organizzare feste e manifestazioni con grande spirito di servizio. Come liaison officer rivolgo un grazie per la loro diretta collaborazione al chairman della sezione Bocce signor Angelo Bolzonello, alle signore del sottocomitato e al coordinatore dei turni dei volontari signor Davide Barbieri, attivo e sempre pronto al lavoro volontario egli stesso. Sono grato della stima che mi dimostrano i miei colic& del direttivo. Un grazie al nostro direttore cay. Rolando Di Bah per la sua costante ed amichevole collaborazione, e a tutto it personale che svolge lavoro volontario. Auguro un prospero avvenire a tutti i soci e familiari; al nostro Club l'augurio piit cordiale di prosperare come nei 21 anni trascorsi.

Agostino Martini primo vice-presidente

Relazione Ladies Auxiliary» Concludiamo con soddisfazione un altro anno di attivita che ci ha viste impegnate in vari settori della vita comunitaria del Club e a sostegno di iniziative di beneficienza anche oltre i confini e gli interessi del nostro sodalizio. Lo scopo del nostro Comitato (Ladies Auxiliary Committee) 6 di collaborare con it direttivo e i vari sottocomitati per un efficiente sviluppo della vita sociale del Club e di organizzare manifestazioni per raccogliere fondi per diversi scopi. In primo luogo vorrei menzionare it concorso di Miss Italian Community, al quale it Veneto Club ha partecipato fin dall'inizio conquistando diversi titoli. Lo scorso anno ha aggiunto un'altra perla alla collana della sua lodevole partecipazione vincendo it titolo di Miss Charity Queen con Marisa Chiocchetti. Colgo l'occasione per ringraziare a nome del Comitato Femminile i genitori di Marisa e coloro che l'hanno coadiuvata nella raccolta dei fondi. Con molto successo it nostro Club 6 stato rappresentato anche da altre due candidate, la Miss Veneto Social Festa del 20° anniversario. Un traguardo di prestigio ragClub Nadia Favero e la Princess Frances Petrie che giunto grazie alla preziosa collaborazione delle signore del si sono anch'esse prodigate nella raccolta di fondi. Comitato Femminile Quest'anno faremo del nostro meglio, anche perche ci stimola l'idea che it beneficio del concorso sara devoluto al Villaggio Vaccari, una istituzione che si cura dei nostri anziani e quindi meritevole del massimo appoggio morale e finanziario. Per quanto riguarda la vita interna del nostro Comitato possiamo essere felici ed orgogliose dello spirito di famiglia e di collaborazione che ci unisce. Dal direttore sportivo Can soci, un altro anno e trascorso, gia it secondo da quando mi 6 stato assegnato it gradito, ma impegnativo compito di direttore sportivo, compito al quale ho dato con amore e dedizione tanto lavoro e tutto it mio tempo libero. Mi sono adoperato per far si che ogni evento sportivo svoltosi nel nostro Club ed ogni manifestazione ad esso collegata avessero la necessaria assistenza. Esprimo it mio pia vivo ringraziamento ai sottocomitati in carica dei vari settori sportivi. La loro collaborazione itata efficiente e generosa. Abbiamo lavorato sodo, ma penso che abbiamo avuto anche delle soddisfazioni. Alcuni malintesi sorti nel corso 3e11'anno sono stati chianti e nell'insieme abbiamo svolto it nostro lavoro con molto affiatamento. Per l'avvenire, mi sia affidato o meno it compito di direttore sportivo, vorrei ricordare che solo l'intesa e la comunicazione reciproca potranno costituire le basi per la buona riuscita di qualsiasi impresa, e cif) nell'interesse comune e per tener alti i colon del nostro Club. Associazione Padovani nel mondo

Dopo svariati tentativi, negli anni precedenti, ha potuto finalmente essere formata anche qui nel Victoria l'Associazione «Padovani nel Mondo», e precisamente nel marzo del 1986, da un gruppetto di cocciuti Padovani ben determinati a riuscire nella non facile impresa. Nel breve tempo di due anni l'Associazione si e ben affermata, grazie soprattutto ai sempre entusiasti e attivi componenti del Comitato Direttivo. Le attivita sociali sono state numerose e ben organizzate. E' doveroso ricono scere alla signora Antonietta Barolo tesoriere e spesse volte anche segretaria (impegni che ha sempre svolto con entusiasmo, precision, perizia), un ruolo determinante per la buona riuscita delle attivita sociali. Un'Associazione la nostra che ha saputo accattivarsi la stima e la simpatia per it sempre entusiastico e numeroso supporto di presenza di soci e amici, e inserirsi con modestia fra le amichevoli Associazioni venete nella sede sociale del Veneto Social Club di Bulleen. Quest'anno, dope due anni di presidenza e di intenso lavoro organizzativo, l'amico Walter Reffo ha desiderato non ripresentare la sua candidatura alla impegnativa canca sociale, ma continuera a dare la sua indiscussa competenza, come responsabile delle pubbliche relazioni. Ci auguriamo che anche per it prossimo futuro si continui ad avere it suppono di tutti i Padovani del Victoria per migliorare, numericamente e nell'organizzazione la nostra Associazione dei «Padovani nel Mondo» del Victoria. Ente Vicentini nel mondo Can soci vicentini, Come pubblicato, sia dalla stampa locale che italiana, e dalla radio etnica 3EA, l'Ente Vicentini nel Mondo ha organizzato la seconda conferenza mondiale dei Vicentini emigrati. I lavori si sono svoliti dal 20 al 22 maggio '88 presso la sede della Banca Cattolica del Veneto in Contra Santa Corona. Da Melbourne siamo stati in due a partecipare, Enrico Bonomo in rappresentanza dei giovani di origine vicentina, ed io come Presidente del nostro ente. Nella relazione presentata al comitato dirigente ho trattato gli argomenti che pia stanno a cuore dei Vicentini di Melbourne. Mi sono consultato con alcuni di voi e ho parlato del nostro lavoro, della previdenza sociale, dei diritti umani, politici e civili e della integrazione. Enrico Bonomo ha anche lui esposto una relazione sui giovani vicentini completando cosi it quadro degli argomenti riguardanti la nostra vita a Melbourne. La nostra Provincia ha un programma molto esteso per le celebrazioni del 200mo anniversario dell'Australia, specialmente per quanto riguarda la citta di Melbourne. Spero si ripetera l'entusiasmo testimoniato durante la visita del Coro Asiago e della comunita montana dei Sette Comuni. «Vicenza-Oro» sub. presente a Melbourne dal 29 agosto al 23 settembre. A meta agosto avremo la visita dell'orchestra di Elio Bertolini da Recoaro Terme che dark van concerti a Melbourne. Domenica 11 settembre, come tradizione, celebreremo la festa della Madonna di Monte Berico con la santa messa alle 10,30 a Santa Brigida, e it pranto a mezzogiorno al Veneto Social Club.

Dopo settembre ci metteremo in moto per quella gita in Tasmania programmata per la prima settimana di novembre. Come vedete, dal prossimo mese avremo un po' tutu delle novita, e questo senza dubbio a beneficio di tutti i vicentini che avranno l'occasione di partecipare alle manifestazioni organizzate dalla Regione o dallg Province del Veneto. Concludo augurando «Bum- Viaggio» a tutti coloro che vanno in Italia con Tony Pegoraro ed Agnese Zordan, e colgo l'occasione per ringraziare it Veneto Social Club per l'aiuto datoci fino ad oggi. Associazione Trevisani nel mondo

Come al solito i trevisani di Melbourne sono molto attivi e partecipano con entusiasmo a manifestazioni sociali di ogni tipo, siano esse gite turistiche in Australia o oltremare organizzate dal dinamico segretario padre Giuliano, o cene danzanti, come quella del 16 aprile al Veneto Club che ha visto la presenza di oltre 450 persone. I trevisani sono davvero fieri della loro Associazione, diretta da un Comitato che merita i piu ampi elogi perche ha saputo unire tanti soci sparsi per formare un unico gruppo. Qui a Melbourne i trevisani formano l'Associazione con il maggior numero di iscritti, tra quelle trevisane presenti in tutti i Paesi del mondo raggiunti dalla nostra emigrazione. Associazione Bellunesi nel mondo The Association of emigrants from Belluno's main purpose for existing is to organize activities which bring Bellunesi together. There is a monthly newsletter from Italy wich gives us details of Asso_ ciations across the world, and here in Melbourne we hold picnics/B.B.Q'S, dinner dances, pokie nights, wine trips and last year for the first time, an interstate trip to Sydney. The trip was organized for the Melbourne Cup long weekend. We left by bus on Friday night and arrived in Sydney on Saturday morning. Mr Bruno Cossalter, sec. A.E.B. Sydney and Mr Giovanni Berton accompanied our group to an R.S.L. Club for lunch and welcome us to Sydney. On Saturday night the A.E.B. - Sydney had organized a beautiful smorgasbord dinner at the Marconi Club. On Sunday, there was a B.B.Q. picnic on the banks of the St. Georges River, where after a sing-a-long there, was a presentation. Mr Giovanni Pina77a - president of A.E.B. Sydney gave our association a medallion and our president Mr Mariano Cerato gave the A.E.B. Sydney a silver tag. We left on Monday morning feeling very satisfied that the trip was a success, the weather had been lovely and our new friends wonderful. So far this year we have had our annual general meeting and a picnic/B.B.Q. in Jells Park, Mt. Waverley. Although the weather was uncertain, and in fact it did finally force us to leave earlier than we wished, it was heartening to see how many people did attend both old members and new.

Senior Soccer Report Three year ago, the talk around the Veneto Social Club was whether the senior soccer side from Bulleen could achieve its ultimate goal of playing in the major League in Victoria - The State League. Under the astute leadership of coach Alan Gentry, and the hard working Committee led by Piero Simeoni, the Club last year achieved that goal. By winning the Victorian League Division One, championship promotion to play in State League was gained. Bulleen - Veneto won the championship by one point from Ringwood City Whilemina. Their statistics were as follows: Won 20 games, drew 2 games, lost 4 games. Total of points 42. The Reserve Team, coached by Sam Saladino also enjoyed a very respectable achievement by finishing 3rd in the championship season. Their statistics were as follows: won 14 games, drew 6 games, lost 6 games. Total Points: 34. The Best and Fairest winners for the 1987 season were: Senior side Tony Marsan, Reserve side Tony Bianco. For the 1988 State League season the Bulleen-Veneto soccer side has had a change of coach. Alan Gentry who

achieved promotion from Division 2 to State League retired as coach, for personal reasons, and the senior side was taken over by ex-australian international Jimmy Rooney, who played in the 1974 World Cup Championship's in Germany representing the Australian Team. Bulleen-Veneto's 1st year in the State League will be hard because the team has to finish 10th or above to avoid relegation, because of the restructure of the Leagues in 1989. It will be a tough assignment but with its true fighting spirit it will make damn sure that it remains in the major League for the 1989 season. In order to stay in the State League the Veneto side has been bolstered with the acquisition of 4 new players. They are: Zdravko Lujic (ex Footscray J.U.S.T.), Robert Krajacic (ex St. Albans), Fabio Angele (ex Fawkner), Brian Keenan (ex Ringwood-Whilemina). These new players along with the already established squad that has been together for 2 years should give the side the strenght to be a force in the State League. The Soccer Sub-Committee, this year chaired by Beppe Boarotto, and with the support of team's major sponsors, Bruno & Rino Grollo of the Grollo Group of Companies, believe that the Veneto Soccer Club will do itself proud in their quest to remain the State League! Te Reserve Side in mainly made up of talented juniors that the Club has: Players such as Paul Di Donato, Ray Verratti, Damien Baldi, Cos Giove, who in the ensuing years should force their way into the senior team. The breeding of good juniors and the opportunity to be a given a chance in the senior squad is vital for the progress of the Bulleen-Veneto soccer side. The 1988 State League season is going to be a long and gruelling affair but with everyone getting behind the soccer side, as has been the case in previous years, should greatly benefit the side in its quest for State League honors.

Junior Soccer Report As we reflect on the year just passed we find that its highlights were few and far between and although not disgraced in our performances most teams fmished in the mid or top half of their leagues, with the exception of our 1987 Under 16's. This talented team capped off a great year as League Champions. Moving on to 1988... Very early in the season it became apparent that Veneto Social Club members are not introducing their sons to Soccer opting for the more stately game of Tennis. On reflection we have found that we have very few young Weneti» at all with the Under 15 being the only team which could be said to be a true representative of the Veneto Social Club. Frankly we dare suggest that mothers may have something to do with it. Basically when you analyse the situation who washes muddy uniforms and clean grubby boots? For that matter who stands in the kiosk for hours on end and slave away at a function or two for the benefit of Soccer?... Mother! Who needs it... But think of the swelling pride being felt by Diana & Beppe Agnoletto, Mans & Bernardo Bianco, Beppe & Bruna Boarotto, Luciano & Maria Sella (just to name a few) as they watch their sons play in the Senior Ranks at State League Level. Our Reserve Team this year is made up of home grown players which have progressed through our Junior Ranks. This year we have the following teams:

Please be advised that the Committee looks first to fulfill the needs of the Club in general, secondly to the needs of each team and finally to the wants of one player as against the needs and benefit of the other 120 such players. Parental demands or claims will be dealt with by the Committee and its decision on any matter will be binding and final. The Bulleen/Veneto Soccer Club needs your support to succeed and in the interest of Junior Soccer at the Club lets work together to ensure that 1988 will go down in history as our finest.

Relazione «Sottocomitato bocciofilo» Sono passati diversi anni da quando sono stato chiamato a dirigere la sezione bocce di questo club. Anni di lavoro duro ma anche di grandi soddisfazioni. I nostri giocatori ancor oggi formano un gruppo compatto, e fedele a quella che ormai 6... una tradizione. Continuano a vincere ed a riempire, non solo it nostro bocciodromo, ma anche le sale-ristorante ed i bars. Moltissimi sono i successi di questa stagione. Ancora una volta si sono assicurati tutte le gare pia importanti, inclusi i trofei de «Il Globo» della «Nubrik» e dell'«Omega-De Pasquale» nonche la trasferta di Adelaide, nell'incontro con oi cugini» di quel Veneto Club. I giocatori della «State League» oltre che essersi assicurati 4 dei 5 posti disnonibili ner la «Statale» (e fra quest uno a Andrew Pozzer, it pia giovane che si sia mai qualificato) e nella classifica generale, fra i primi venti classificati ben 17 sono dei nostri. Un altro grande successo si a ripetuto. Mark Pozzer, durante i campionati Juniors a Perth, (assieme a Matarazzo e Rossi) ha vinto tutto quello che era possibile vincere, ed a stato scelto (da selettori interstatali) a far parte della Nazionale che difendera i colori verde-oro ai prossimi campionati Mondiali Juniores, che si disputeranno it prossimo luglio, proprio nel settore bocciodromo. Ma se con i grandi ed i juniores abbiamo avuto queste grandi soddisfazioni, purtroppo non possiamo dire altrettanto con le categoric inferiori. Abbiamo avuto si, diversi risultati personali, ma ben poco come gruppo. Infatti nella serie A, 6 stato promosso solo R. Brazzale (e forse anche F. Gentilin) mentre nella serie B, nessuno a arrivato alla promozione. Termino con un elogio ed un sincero ringraziamento a tutte le signore del sottocomitato bocce, sempre pronte ed eleganti ad ogni nostra chiamata, ed al presidente Rino Tessarotto e al suo Comitato, per la fiducia e la collaborazione che ci hanno dato. Ancora una volta la grande competizione della «Nubrik* e stata vinta dai nostri giocatori del Veneto Club che in finale, con Silvio Gatto e Emilio Colla, hanno avuto la meglio sulla squadra del Casa d'Abruzzo Club formata da R. Palladino e Pat Matterazzo. La terza e la quarta posizione sono state anche vinte da due coppie del Veneto Club: Luigi Ambroso e Andrew Pozzer, Bruno Vitadello e Ettore Pozzer. Relazione «Sezione bocciofila femminile» L'anno 1987-88 si pub definire veramente soddisfacente per le bocciste venete. Si sono aggiudicate vittorie, buoni piazzamenti e it secondo posto nella classifica generale del Victoria. Dato it ristretto numero di partecipanti, si puo essere veramente orgogliose del risultato raggiunto. Congratulazioni da parte del Sotto-Comitato. Relazione del segretario Il mio primo anno come segretario del Veneto Club si conclude in questi giomi. Mi sento soddisfatto del lavoro portato a termine dal Comitato sotto la guida esperta del nostro presidente Rino Tessarotto. Sento il dovere di ringraziare apertamente Rino ed ognuno dei membri del Comitato che con dedizione e assiduo lavoro hanno indirizzato le attivita del nostro club al successo lusinghiero raggiunto anche quest'anno. E' da molti anni che it nostro club gode della stima della comunita italiana del Victoria e anche quest'anno essa ne ha ricevuto dei vantaggi. L'impegno del Comitato 8 sempre di migliorare la situazione e guardare al futuro. Per not e diventato un dovere it progredire con i tempi. 11 passo pia significativo 6 stato fatto con l'approvazione del nuovo statuto che mica a dare la pia ampia partecipazione alla vita del club ad ogni socio. Siamo ancora un numero discreto: 6 soci a vita, 560 soci fondatori, 755 soci ordinari, 338 soci associati 30 soci onorari. Voglio ricordarvi che i figli dei soci fino a 20 anni possono diventare membri con soli $10 di sottoscrizione. Abbiamo un'urgente necessita di una iniezione sostanziosa di spirito giovanile che possa dare nuova linfa al comitato direttivo, al sottocomitato delle «Ladies auxiliaryo, al concorso di Miss Veneto e anche alla vita e stampa dell'qEco del Veneto». E' ovvio che tutte le nostre attivita sportive, sociali e culturali, hanno come scopo

specific° di offrire ai nostri giovani l'opportunita di riscoprire le radici delle proprie origini e sentirsi orgogliosi della propria identity che ha fermi fondamenti sociali, economici, culturali ed artistici. Con qualche giovane del comitato esecutivo potremmo fare fronte alle attivita che ci aspettano per la seconda meta del 1988 che vedra la presenza veneta in Australia per le celebrazioni del duecentesimo anniversario, un omaggio che la nostra Regione e la nostra genie vogliono dare ai Veneti d'Australia • Mi sento riconoscente verso tutti i soci per il loro continuo supporto, e li ringrazio assieme a tutti i sottocomitati per la loro attivita: i volontari per il loro grande aiuto, it direttore ed il personale per il loro operato. A Ketty Pezzin, Mario Bonis, e John Cobain un sentito grazie e porgo le pia sincere congratulazioni per la loro professio!ulna e it valido aiuto datomi durante tutto Voglio infine assicurare tutti voi soci che i consigli sono sempre molto apprezzati come lo sono le vostre critiche, specie quelle costruttive e non denigratorie. Secretary's Report As my first year as secretary of the Veneto Social Club comes to a close, I am pleased and satisfied with all that has been achieved under the expert guidance of our president Rino Tessarotto. I would like to publicly express my thanks to Rino and each member of the committee for their dedication and untiring efforts which have resulted in yet another very successful year. For many years our Club has been one of the most prestigious Clubs in not only the Italian Community, but that of Victoria, and it is the duty of the committee to see that this is upheld. Times change, and with it we must see progress, such has been achieved by the renewal of the clubs constitution which was aimed at providing greater participation within our club to each member. Club membership in general has not greatly varied. We have currently 6 life members, 560 foundation members, 755 ordinary members, 388 associate members and 30 honorary members. I would like to remind all our members that their children, or rather young adults, between the age of 18 and 21 years my avail themselves of the special rate of joining fee being $10.00, and I hope that many take advantage of this opportunity. This will enable them

to contribute positively to the life of our club and it's activities, for it is obvious that this has the specific task of passing on to our youth a sense of belonging and the desire to rediscover the origin of their roots, so that they may be proud of their heritage. It would be particularly beneficial to have the views of younger people in view of the visit to Australia of dignitaries of the Veneto Region to celebrate our Bicentenary later this year. I feel most grateful towards all our members for their continued support, and I thank you all most sincerely together with all the sub-committees, the voluntary workers, the manager and his staff. To John Cobain, Ketty Pezzin and Mario Bonis my heartfelt thanks and sincere congratulations for their professionalism, and also the invaluable assistance given to me over the past twelve months. I conclude by assuring all our members that your suggestions are always most valued, as are your constructive critiscism. We are all part of this wonderful family and it is the duty of each and every one of us to work together for the benefit of our Club.

Treasurer's Report

It is again with great pleasure, as Treasurer, that I report on the Financial Activities of the Club over the past year. At this point I would like to take the opportunity of thanking all the various members, for without their support financial success is not possible. My thanks to our President Rino Tessarotto for his great leaderThe Vice President Agostino ship. Martini and 2nd.Vice President Alfonso Pozzebon, the Secretary Pier Giorgio Cappellotto and all the members of the committee foe. their encouragement and guidance. I would like to express my personal gratitude to John Cobain for the efficient running of the office,his professionalism and cordial manner with all concerned. To Ketti Pezzin for her efficiency and abilities in To work performed on my behalf. Mario Bonis for all his hardwork 8 To our assistance given to me. Manager Cay.Rolando Di Bari for the successful organization that have made many a function delightful, and last but not least I would like to commend the hard work done by our Youth Sub-Committee, especially the President Dario Bonolo and Secretary Sandra Dussin together with all the other youth members who have worked so hard in making each occasion enjoyable for thv youth of the Veneto Social Club. The Club has continued to operate at a very efficient and economic manner providing a Trading Surplus of $90588, and a Net overall surplus of $195940. The levels obtained in the past year are extremely good especially in the current economic climate.

The Restaurant and Bar Trading figures have improved on the previous year's, even though prices charged to the members have not increased at the same level as costs incurred in these areas, an obvious benefit to the members. The Other Activity Income has shown an increase of $10671 (10%), which when looked at closely, reveals many positive points, particularly Youth Functions which have improved by $11910, (27%). The Overhead and Operating expenses of the Club for the year have increased slightly which reflects the awareness of the Committee in monitoring these expenditures closely. The Trading. Expenses have increased by an amount of $2358, whilst administration expenses have increased by $6111 and property expenses have risen slightly by $746. The Trading Surplus of $90588 is an increase of $57411 over last year's Trading Profit. This is reflected by an increase in sales and other activities of $66515, and a slight increase in overhead and operating expenses of $9104. These figures can only be achieved by keeping a close eye on the day to day running of the Club by the Committee and Management.

The Trading Surplus has been supp lemented by interest received of $11777 along with membership fees and donations received, particularly from the Ladies Auxiliary, thus giving a Net Surplus of $195940.

Looking at the Balance Sheet, the Net Surplus for the year of $195940 has again led to a more stable asset backing for the Club. The. Surplus has enabled an increase in Total Assets for the past year of $209453. Current Assets have decreased by $32049. This is mainly due to the fact that although Bank Accounts have increased by $48551 and Accounts Receivable have increased

by $23196, the Short Term Deposit has decreased by $101169, partly tc pay for the front fence and the Sala San Marco ceiling. Finally, the Club has again completed this year with a sound Trading Profit which can only be of benefit to our members in the future. SERGIO CHIOCCHETTI TREASURER.

Un aumento sensibile e' venuto dal gruppo giovanile: le attivita' promosse dal Youth SubCommittee hanno portato un aumento di $11910 (27%). Guardado a questo profitto si Duo' constatare come l'utile di $195940 sia indite che esiste una base economica sicura per il Club. fa' sal ire Questa cifra l'utile complessivo del Club a $209453.

L'eccedenza commerciale di $90588 rappresenta un aumento di $57411, frutto di vendite e di varie attivita' per complessivi di $66515, e spese amministrative e di gestione di $9104. Questo risultato positivo e' stato possibile solo con una attenta e giornaliera gestione del Club sotto il diretto controllo del Comitato Direttivo e gestione amministrativa.

I beni patrimoniale e i valori in denaro hanno subito un ribasso di $32049. Cio' e' dovuto sopratutto al fatto che, nonostante l'aumento del conto in banca di $48551 e un interesse da questo ottenuto di $23196, il denaro ad use corrente e' diminuito di $101169, in parte, per pagare i lavori all'entrata della sede, e per la rinnovazione del soffito nella sala San Marco.

THE COMMITTEE'S STATUTORY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH. APRIL,1988 The Members of the Committee (Directors) of the Veneto Social Club (a company limited by guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th. April 1988 and Income and Expenditure Statement for the year ended on that date and report as follows: 1.

The Members of the Committee (Directors) in office at the date of this report were: Messrs. R.Tessarotto, A.Martini, A.Pozzebon, P.G.Cappellotto, S.Chiocchetti, D.Barbieri, P.Ferronato, G.Moro, P.Rossilli, R.Rostolis, L.Sella, C.Stocco, S.Zanta.

The principal activity of the Club during the year ended 30th. April 1988 was to provide social amenities to its Members, and no significant changes in the nature of these activities occurred during the year.

The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $195,940 Income Tax is not applicable thereto.

There were no shares or debentures issued during the year.

No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company.

Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared.

No significant changes in the state of affairs of the Club occurred during the financial year.

No matters or circumstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations of the Club, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the Club in financial years subsequent to the financial year ended 30th. April, 1988.

Since the 30th. April, 1987 no Member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and Members of the Committee.

No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding.

STATEMENT BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS (DIRECTORS)

In the opinion of the Committee of the Veneto Social Club:

(a)

The accompanying Income and Expenditure Statement is drawn up so as to give a true and fair view of the results of the Club for the financial year ended 30th. April, 1988.

(b)

The accompanying Balance Sheet is drawn up so as to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Club as at the end of that financial year.

(c)

At the date of this statement, there are reasonable grounds to believe that the Club will be able to pay its debts as and when they fall due.

The accompanying accounts have been made out in accordance with Australian accounting standards and applicable approved accounting standards with the exception that depreciation has not been provided on building's. The Committee considers that the buildings form an integral part of the properties and that any diminution in value thereof should be offset by increases in value in the land and therefore depreciation of buildings is unnecessary.

AUDITORS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF VENETO SOCIAL CLUB (A Company Limited by Guarantee)

I have audited the accompanying accounts in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards. The Club has not provided for depreciation of buildings which are included in the This is a departure from a Balance Sheet at the cost of $1445901 refer Note 2. of Chartered Accountants in Institute the by issued Standards Accounting of Statement Australia and the Australian Society of Accountants. In my opinion depreciation should be charged to the Income and Expenditure Statement so as to absorb the cost of the buildings over their usefulâ€˘ economic lives. The Club has not calculated the financial effect of this depar:ture from the accounting standard and it is impracticable for me to estimate this. It is not practicable to establish accounting control over cash receipts and payments made in cash prior to their respective receipt or payment by Club Sub-Committees. Accordingly, it was not practicable to extend my Audit Examination of such receipts and payments beyond verification of the amounts brought to account on the basis of the net movements of bank accounts of the Sub-Committees for the year under review. Subject to this limitation, and with the exception referred to above relating to depreciating buildings, in my opinion:-

the accompanying accounts which have been prepared under the historical cost convention are properly drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Companies (Victoria) Code and so as to give a true and fair view of:(i)

the state of affairs of the Club at 30th.Apri1,1988 and the results for the year ended on that date: and

the other matters required by Section 269 of that Code to be dealt with in the accounts:

the accounting records and other records and registers required by the Companies (Victoria) Code to be kept by the Company have been properly kept in accordance with the provisions of that Code.

Campionato del mondo Bocce-Junior L'Australia Bocce Federation organizza in collaborazione con la Federazione Internazionale Bocce (F.I.B.) dal 19 al 24 luglio it Venticinquesimo Campionato MondialeJuniors che si svolgera al Veneto Social Club. L'eta per questi giovani varia da 14 a 18 anni. Per ]'Australia Bocce Federation i it suo terzo campionato mondiale che organizza qui in Australia: due campionati Mondiali Seniors, uno nel 1979 e uno nel 1985 e questo Mondiale Juniors in luglio. L'anno scorso per la prima volta abbiamo partecipato al campionato Mondiale Juniors in Algeria. Siamo riusciti ad ottenere un ottimo piazzamento - sesti su nove paesi, e solo la differenza di due punti ci ha tenuto fuori dalla seLa squadra era composta di Mark Pozzer (Melbourne), Michael Aquarola (Tasmania) Enzo Tomasi (Queensland) e it sottoscritto come Team Manager delegato. La squadra che partecipera a questi Mondiali 6 stata scelta durante i campionati australiani Juniors svoltisi a Perth. E' formata da Pat Matarazzo e Mark Pozzer del Victoria e it giovane Steven Visentin del South Australia con it Team Manager Roberto Pozzobon del Victoria. E' una squadra di tutto rispetto e se l'emozione non la tradira sapra farsi rispettare in questi mondiali e cerchera di migliorare la posizione ottenuta in Algeria. A questo campionato partecipano otto Paesi: Australia, Algeria, Francia, ale, Italia, Jugoslavia, Svizzera e Tunisia.

Si disputeranno it Campionato Mondiale del tiro, del doppio, quello del punto e tiro, e it singolo. Le competizioni inizieranno mercoledl 19 luglio, mattino pomeriggio e sera, e si protrarranno fino alla domenica per la finale. Dettagli pia precisi saranno pubblicati su Il Globo e La Fiamma nel futuro. I migliori Paesi e i pia fortitiocatori di Bocce parteciperanno a questo Mondiale. Sara una dura battaglia. Questi giovani daranno it massimo del loro impegno perche tutti cercheranno di vincere. Non mancate a questo spettacolo, a forse l'unica occasione per vedere in Australia i migliori giovani del mondo nello sport delle bocce. Youth Report Well, here I am once again looking back at the 87/88 year, and what a year it has been! 1987/88 was a successful year as far as attendances go. Attendances averaged between 500-700 people at most disco's. The most disappointing feature of the year was the Veneto Youth Club members during the year and for the 88/89 year we only currently have about 5 members. We would like to see this number increase, so please pass the word around and join the Veneto Youth Club. A special thanks must go to our Youth Liaison Officer, Mr Sergio Chiocchetti. Mr Chiocchetti over the year helped the Youth Club immensely. Every time the Youth Club seemed to bring up a new proposal, Mr Chiocchetti was willing to support it. Mr Chiocchetti has put in a lot of time and effort into bringing the Youth Club to where it stands now. Just recently (April 30th) a <dive ban& "Favourite Toy" finally appeared at the Veneto Club after much debating. This was thanks to Mr Chiocchetti and his wife who organised this appearance. The band performed brilliantly and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Once again many thanks for your support during the year which was very much appreciated.

Basketball Report Since may last report I had advised that we had just started the season and had only played a total of 3 games which we had won. So far, we have now played a total of 8 games, won 6 and lost 2 and having a break over the Labour Day and Easter. I'm quite pleased to report that we are currently holding second position on the ladder. We are about half way through this season and I think it's still a bit early to determine whether we can make the Grand Final or not as there are some good opposition. I feel the girls are doing well and putting a lot of effort into the game and are playing well as a team and with continuous training we should hopefully become better. Though the girls train and also play for the Club, I feel it would help enormously if we had people supporting us. It's amazing how much cheering does for a team, it really gives them a lift. So, come on, come down and give us some support and if you want to know where we are playing and what time we are playing, please call me and I'll give you the details (tel. h: 481 5957, w: 840 1066). I would also like to remind you that training is still on Wednesday night from 7,30 to 9,00 p.m. and we ask that you please not park on the court at that time, even though it may not be fully roped off. Come June/July we may have two girls leaving and may possibly need someone to fill the position.

Any girls over 16 years of age interested in playing, please call me. (If you have played before and are ÂŤtallÂť it would really assist the team). It seems that there are more girls interested in basketball, and I never hear from any guys. To all the guys out there, round yourselves together with a team, doesn't matter who they are, just as long as you all enjoy the game and give me a call and I'll organise the rest. Relazione ÂŤSottocomitato TennisÂť E' giunto ii momento dell'anno in cui usualmente si chiude un periodo per iniziame un'altro. Con l'occasione vorrei riepilogare e ricordare ai soci quarto stato fatto durante i 12 mesi in carica dall'attuale sottocomitato tennistico, it quale si sta preparando a far posto al nuovo sottocomitato che sara eletto in luglio. primo obiettivo raggiunto da questo sottocomitato e stato it completare l'installazione per l'illuminazione dei due campi da tennis (court 3 e 4), e di ciO ne hanno beneficiato tutti i soci durante la passata stagione estiva. Numerosi sono gli ostacoli da superare per la costruzione del ÂŤTennis Sheltero, fra cui ii trovare i fondi per coprire le spese, che saranno superiori a quelle previste. Durante i 12 mesi in carica, it sottocomitato ha organizzato diversi Round Robins, di domenica. Sia quando erano per juniors o per adulti, sono sempre risultati di gran successo. In febbraio c't stato l'Annual Dinner Dance, al quale hanno preso pane oltre 300 soci e simpatizzanti. Nel periodo settembre-ottobre si sono svolti i Campionati di Tennis 1987, per juniors e seniors. Congratulazioni ai vincitori di tutte le categorie e particolarmente a Fabio Forlano, per aver vinto it titolo di campione del Veneto Club, per la categoria Senior maschile, e a Barbara Blasina per aver vinto it titolo di campionessa del Veneto Club, per la categoria Senior femminile. A nome del Sottocomitato Tennis del Veneto Club, vorrei ringraziare la ditta Everest Food Industries per aver patrocinato, ancora una volts, i campionati di tennis del nostro sodalizio, con la speranza che continueranno a farlo ancora per anni. Vanno ricordati anche tutti gli altri sponsor per il loro aiuto che speriamo continuera per molto tempo. Senza it loro suppono molti eventi sarebbero stati difficili da attuarsi. Shooters Report Con l'avvicinarci al termine di un altro anno finanzirio voglio riepilogare gli eventi di maggiore importanza svoltisi durante gli ultimi dodici mesi e quindi dame nota ai nostri sostenitori e a tutti coloro che ci seguono nel cammino e nello svolgimento di questa nostra attivita sportiva di caccia e tiro al piattello. La gara di prim'ordine avutasi al Melbourne Gun Club lo scorso luglio 6 stata quella del oSouth Eastern Zone Shoot» che coinvolge la partecipazione di dieci Gun Clubs. Ad essa hanno partecipato shooters creando un'atmosfera di alto livello cornbattivo risultante in clamorosi successi. 11 Veneto Social Club Shooters anche questa volta ha dato prova delle sue capacity conquistando il secondo posto in graduatoria generale... ad un solo punto di distacco dai priori! Un solo piattello ci ha privati della vittoria. Ci riteniamo pea) ugualmente soddisfatti perche anche it secondo posto... E' posto d'onore! Un'altra gara importante a stata quella disputatasi a Sydney con il Marconi Club. La nostra visita (return match) era per l'aggiudicamento di uno oshield» atualmente in possesso del Marconi Gun Club. La dea bendata, purtroppo, questa volta non ha guardato dalla nostra parte ed abbiamo riportato una sconfitta. II presidente del suddetto club pia che compiaciuto, valorizzando la nostra cordiale visita, ha detto: «Ragazzi ci rivedremo a Melbourne alla prossima occasione!» Qui, in casa nostra, nel girone di ritomo, dovremo ad ogni costo riconquistare it perduto. Prepariamoci, dunque, con impegno e dedizione. Un altro «Big Shoot» 6 stato eseguito nel mese di dttobre. Fra i ricchi trofei messi in palio, vi era anche un magnifico fucile sovrapposto gentilmente donato dal nostro socio Vic Sartore di Deniliquin. I partecipanti sono accorsi numerosi (circa 120) ed it fucile a stato vinto da Allan Brown, uno dei nostri soci. Il Xmas Shoot in dicembre ha dato a mold la possibility di portare a casa un qualcosa di molto gradito per Natale e doe «ham and turkies». Sentiti ringraziamenti vanno al direttivo della ri-

spettabile ditta «Lago Small Goods» che generosamente ha voluto sponsorizzare questo importante evento. Prima che le competizioni iniziassero ogni shooter ha ricevuto dal nostro club un gradito opresent» con i dovuti auguri natalizi. Netball Report As we approch the middle of the year I'd like to report that both teams are nearing the end of their first season on netball for 1988. At this stage of the competitions the Juniors are battling on and have appeared not to have had such a good season as it was hoped. However, no doubt the girls will improve and try a lot harder next season which starts again in June/July. Our Senior team on the other hand are doing extremely well considering the absence of a few players they've had during the season. The girls persevered and played their best right throughout, even when there were only 5 on court. The girls have continued to play up to scratch and thus the reason for them sitting in second position quite comfortably. With only a few games left to play, this team will definitely be in the finals. As the tension mounts and excitement fills the air, I feel we may

It makes it rather awkward to train, in general, with the many disruptions we encounter on a Wednesday night. Please feel free to come and watch, but just be sure to keep the noise level down. Also, spectators are always welcome at the games. So, whenever you feel like watching either our Seniors of Juniors in action just drop by and cheer us on.
