PRESIDENT'S REPORT 1986
RELAZIONE DEL PRESIDENTE
E' un grande piacere per me presentare, a tutti voi cari soci, la mia cerza relazione annuale. Il nostro successo, in questi anni e dovuto alla nostra unita, alle nostre ca'pacita e a quella fratellanza che c'e fra la maggioranza di not soci. Quel desiderio di partecipazione dei sottocomitati e senz'altro un aiuto considerevole, ed in particolare i.l lavoro svolto dalla sezione volontari si pu6 defini.re come la parte phi importante per i nostri successi. Questa sezione infatti svolge un grandioso lavoro per it nostro Club, ed e mi.o dovere ringraziare di cuore tutte queste persone che in un modo o nell'altro hanno dato it loro prezioso aiuto nei vari reparti ed in vari lavori. Non ho mai avuto la presunzione di dirigere it Club da solo, ma ho sempre cercato l'aiuto e la cooperazione dei membri del Comitato Direttivo, dei vari Sottocomitati, delle Signore Ausiliari.e e dei Ciovani e debbo affermare con soddisfazione di aver sempre ricevuto l'appoggio di tutti. Mi sono sempre avvalso, inoltre, del parere di validi consulenti legali e di esperti finanzieri; e devo anche ammettere di aver avuto una certa dose di fortuna nel trovare fra i nostri dipendenti delle persone che non lavorano solo per la paga, ma che hanno a cuore le sorti del nostro Club. L'amministrazione della nostra associazione va motto bene, e tutti i registri di contabilita sono sempre aggiornati e chiaris-
It is a great pleasure for me to present to you all, dear members, the third annual report. Our success in these years is due to our unity, to our ability and to that feelling of brotherhood existing among the majority of us members. The willingness to participate in the subcommittees is undoubtedly a considerable help and in particular the work done by the volunteers' section can be defined as the most important contribution to our success. This section in fact, carries out great work for our club and it is my duty to thank wholeheartedly all the people who have given their most precious help in various departments and in various jobs. I have never presumed that I could manage the Club alone. I have instead always sought out the help and the cooperation of the members of the Club Committee, of the various sub-committees, of the Ladies Auxiliaries and of the Youth. I must affirm with satisfaction that always I have received the support of everyone. I also have always taken advantage of the opinions of capable legal advisers and of expert accountants. I must furthermore admit of having had a certain amount of luck in finding among our employees people who don't just work for their salary, but who are concerned for the well-being of our Club. The administration of our association is going very well and all the accounts are always up-to-date and very clear. Also, with our new computer, we can now give members a much more speedy and precise service. Among the many works we have talked about frequently in the past, many have been completed. Among others I mention the following: the power sub-station, the Rialto Bar works, the new lighting system for the Bocce field, the new sprinklers in the tennis courts, a lawn mower, the modernisation of the office and other various things all totalling $ 170,000. Next year the Club Committee intends improving the "Sale San Marco & Venezia" and with the help of the Ladies Auxiliary of furnishing the small room in the mezanine floor as a library, which will contain, among other things, the history of our Club. Such a room will also be available for small conferences.

simi. Poi, con it nuovo calcolatore elettronico, possiamo ora dare ai soci un servizio molto phi sbrigativo e phi preciso. Dei vari lavori di cui in precedenza si gia phi volte parlato, molti sono stati terminate; fra gli altri cito i seguenti: la gabina di trasformazione elettrica, i lavori del "Rialto Bar", it nuovo impianto di illuminazione del Bocciodromo, i nuovi spruzzatori idraulici nei campi da tennis, una macchina per tagliare 1'erba, it rimodernamento dell'ufficio e altre varie cose it cui costo totale e ammontato a $ 170.000. Nel prossimo anno it Direttivo ha in programma di abbellire le sale "San Marco" e "Venezia" e, con 1'aiuto delle Signore Ausiliarie, di adibire una piccola stanza del mezzanino a biblioteca la quale conterra, fra l'altro, anche la storia del nostro Club. Tale stanza potra inoltre essere usata anche per piccole conferenze. Anche quest'anno abbiamo avuto una intensa attivita di manifestazioni culturali, ricreative e sportive. Una nota di particolare compiacimento desidero rivolgerla alla visita nel. Veneto dei cinquanta studenti, che e stata veramente di grande valore educativo per i nostri giovani. Ringrazio per cio gli accompagnatori per it lavoro che hanno saputo svolgere magnificamente. In particolare voglio ringraziare una persona che, dietro le quinte di tutta l'organizzazione, ha fatto un grande lavoro, cioe la Signora Ketty Pezzin. Dopo tale successo spero che anche quest'anno si possa organizzare un altro viaggio nel Veneto per studenti universitari dai 18 ai 25 anni. In collaborazione con altri clubs sono stati organizzati i campionati di bocce e i1 torneo di calcio "Coppa Italia", vinto, quest'ultimo, per la prima volta dalla nostra squadra veneta. Nel tennis sono state formate delle squadre giovanili veramente forti per le competizioni nella speciale categoria "Pennant B". La sezione bocce ha continuato ad organizzare tornei e ad accrescere it prestigio del Club in questo campo. II comitato femminile delle "Ladies Auxiliary" ha ancora una volta lavorato con pieno successo in tutte le sue iniziative. Le gentili signore hanno continuato a raccogliere fondi per beneficenza ed a curare l'organizzazione del concorso di "Miss Veneto Social Club".
This year again we've had an intense activity of cultural, recreational and sportive happenings. I would like to outline with pleasure the visit to the Veneto region by fifty students. • This event has been of great educational value for our youth. I thank for this the people who have accompained our students because they have done a magnificent job. In particular I'd like to thank one person who behind the curtains of administration has done a great job, and that is Ketty Pezzin. After such a success I hope that even this year we will be able to organize another trip in the Veneto region for our university students between the ages 18 to 25. In collaboration with other clubs we have organized the Bocce championship and the Soccer tournament "Coppa Italia", the latter for the first time won by our Veneto Team. For tennis we have formed some really strong youth teams for competitions in the B Category "Pennants". The Bocce section has continued to organize tournaments and to increase the prestige of the Club in this field. The Ladies Auxiliary has once again successfully carried out all its activities. The kind ladies have continued raising funds for charity and organizing the "Miss Veneto Social Club" quest. The Youth Sub-Committee, made up of children of our members, had difficult time in the early part of the year, due to a certain group of young people at the "Discoes". However, after the work accomplished by Sonia Velo, Carlo Graser and Sergio Chiocchetti, along with our security services, order has been re-established, cordial relationship, which previously existed originally, has returned. I hope this can continue in the future. Sincere thanks should be given to the organizers of the Sport Spring Carnival, to the Squash, Shooters', basketball and Netball committees. My most sincere thanks to the Coro Veneto, the pride of our Club, for all their performances.

sotto-comitato giovanile, costituito dai figli dei nostri soci, ha avuto alcune difficolta all'inizio dell'anno causate da un certo gruppo di giovani che frequentavano i "Discoes". Comunque, a seguito del lavoro svolto con diligenza da Sonia Velo, da Carlo Graser e da Sergio Chiocchetti, assieme al nostro servizio di sicurezza, l'ordine e state ristabilito ed e ritornata quell'amicizia che esisteva prima fra tutti i giovani. Spero che.ci6 continui anche nel future. Un sincere ringraziamento deve essere rivolto agli organizzatori dello "Sport Spring Carnival", ai sottocomitati. Squash, Cacciatori, Basketball e Netball. Al "Coro Veneto", che rappresenta l'orgoglio del nostro Club, vada la mia pi ti sincera simpatia e it ringraziamento per tutte le sue esibizioni. Ricordando le varie associazioni provinciali come i Trevisani, i Vicentini, i Bellunesi, i Padovani e i Veronesi, desidero estendere loro un sincero ringraziamento per aver utilizzato i.l nostro Club nelle loro manifestazioni rendendolo cosi uno dei piu prestigiosi Club di Australia. Per concludere vorrei ringraziare tutti quei soci che hanno frequentato con assiduita it nostro Club, it Finance Committee e it nostro avvocato Sartori per tutti i consigli e l'assistenza data al Comitato ogni qualvolta era necessaria. Vorrei ringraziare inoltre it Sig. G. Cappellotto per it sostegno datomi e per tutto it lavoro svolto al Club negli anni trascorsi. Vorrei inoltre ringraziare e dare it benvenuto al nuovo "manager" Cay. R.Di Bari. Un grazie in fine a tutto it personale del Club.
Recalling the various provincial associations of Trevisani, Vicentini, Bel]unesi, Padovani and Veronesi, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to them for having made use of our Club for their functions, so making it one of the most prestigious clubs in Australia. In conclusion I would like to thank all those members who have constantly attended our Club, the Finance Committee and our lawyer Mr Sartori for all the advice and assistance he has given to the Committee whenever necessary. I would also like to thank Mr G.Cappellotto for his support and for all the work carried out at the Club in past years. I would also like to thank and welcome the new manager Cavaliere R.Di Bari. Dal Direttore del Club Nonostante che it mio incarico di direttore e it mio rientro al Veneto Club datino soltanto da poche settimane, dope dieci anni di assenza, sono veramente lieto di incomonciare it mio lavoro presentando la relazione sull'attivita svolta durante lo scorso anno. Nel rendermi conto di quanto e state fatto, desidero congratularmi con it Comitato che nei dodici mesi di gestione per l'anno 1985/'86 ha dato prova, non soltanto di abilita organizzativa, ma bensi anche di diligenza e dedizione. Desidero anche esprimere la mia gratitudine al Presidente Sig.Tessarotto e al Vice-presidente Sig.Agostino Martini per la loro cordiale collaborazione offertami tramite suggerimenti e proposte al fine di facilitarmi ii reinserimento nei vari settori del sodalizio. I miei sinceri auguri e ringraziamenti vadano al mio immediato predecessore e si estendano anche agli altri che si Sono alternati alla direzione del Club dal 1976 in poi, dopo le mie dimissioni.

Vi sono grato, cari soci, per la stima che mi avete accordato e vi ringrazio per la collaborazione che mi avete offerto durante i dodici mesi trascorsi. E come "Liaison Officer" per it comitato bocciofilo sono riconoscente verso it Sig. Angelo Bolzanello e gli altri componenti per l'opera svolta con dedizione in tutte le manifestazioni. Colgo l'occasione per porgere un caloroso "bentornato" al Cay. Rolando Di Bari come direttore del Club. Sono certo di interpretare it pensiero di tutti nell'augurargli it miglior successo nel suo lavoro. "LADIES AUXILIARY" Report
AVVISO DALLA REGIONE VENETO La Giunta regionale del in collaborazione col Veneto Social Club, prospetta la possibility di organizzare un viaggio con soggiorno in Italia nel Veneto per studenti universitari dai 18 ai 25 anni di eta e figli di emigrati veneti residenti in Australia nello stato del Victoria. La data per questo viaggio-soggiorno dovrebbe essere stabilita approssimativamente fra it 23 agosto e 1'8 settembre 1986. La Regione offre ospitalita per circa due settimane, e it programma prevede una visita ad alcune delle principall citta, delle lezioni di lingua italiana e alcuni spettacoli culturali. Si anticipa fin d'ora che la regione Veneto, oltre a provvedere al vitto ed alloggio dei partecipanti, fara tutto it possibile per contribuire ad almeno it 30 % del costo del viaggio di andata e ritorno dall'Australia, pertanto si pu6 calcolare che it costo del viaggio si aggirera dai $ 1.200,00 ai $ 1.300,00 per ogni studente. Recently when I was informed that it was time for our annual report, what I should write. I I thought of decided to look through the other year books that we have at home, and I am pleased to acknowledge thatweattneVeneto Club have a lot to be proud of, and, in this instance, we of the soccer fraternity have achieved what many other clubs will have great difficulty in ever accomplishing. We have been able to foster a "family" unionism that is the envy of many clubs and at the same time, we have been able to expand and improve our facilities, which are second to none. We have been able to encourage sponsors to support us financially by our demostration of our fervent belief in what we, as a committee and supporters, are doing here at the Club. 1985 was a crucial year for the senior teams as regards to our aspirations for promotion, and we were thrilled to be promoted to the 2nd Division of the Victorian League. With this promotion and

L 'AVVENIMENTO DELL 'ANNO PER IL "CALC10" VENETO! LA VITTORIA DELLA "COPPA 1TALIA".
Sam Saladino for coaching the reserves and in helping Alan Gentry during the Coppa Italia and Alan in coaching the senior team. As everybody is aware we became the only 4th. Club to win the Coppa Italia, since its inception. We congratulate Lawrence Boarotto for taking the Best and Fairest and the Best Goal Scorer for the tournament and Andy Bozicas for taking the runner up trophy for Best and Fairest. Prior the commencement of the Coppa Italia, a Grandstand to seat approximately 800 people was erected at the main oval, and this has proved to be a tremendous asset to our sport. The Soccer Committee wishes to thank all the men that gave most generously of their time and work in assuring that the grandstand would be ready for the tournament, but especially so, Ray Rostolis. The committee wishes to pay tribute to the fantastic work which is done by the Soccer Ladies, headed by Anna Pozzebon. Without the ladies constant help throughout the year, and in particular with extras, such as the Coppa Italia, the soccer would not be able to enjoy such high esteem, both amongst the Veneti or visiting Clubs. As we all can appreciate, without the financial support that we receive at the Club, there would be no soccer at this level. With this in mind, I would like to thank the Grollo family for their support and encouragement with the First Team and likewise David Barro with the Reserves Team. Of course, we have many other sponsors who are extremely generous to us, but as they are many, we thank them collectively and we wish all

1985 was only an average year for the Juniors as all teams finished fairly low in their leagues. We thank all coaches, managers, parents and players for their support and hard work throughout the year. To Mrs. Maria Bianco, retiring Junior Secretary our sincere thanks for all her endeavours over the past four years. We would also wish to voice our appreciation to Bernardo Bianco (Under 12/1985) Con Ascenzo (Under 14/1985) and Rocco Rostolis (Under 10/1985), who have left our coaching ranks, for their devotion to the Veneto Juniors over past years. (Dare we suggest that Maria and Bernardo will have a lot of free time on their hands now?). 1986 commenced with an all out effort to improve the standard of soccer of all The Under 16 Team for 1986.

juniors and after some splendid recruiting drives by one and all we appointed the following coaches for the coming year: Tony Manco (Under 11B), Gregorio Bono (Under 11A), Domenico Sette (Under 13), Sal Verdi (Under 14) and whilst Sal is overseas his team is being looked after by Lawrence Roso, Luciano Fioravanti (Under 15) and Paul Lostia (Under 16). Regretfully, due to lack of players we have no Under 12's this year. The Bulleen/Veneto Junior Cup Tournament was held over the warm months of March and April with Brunswick Juventus, Thomastown, Essendon City Triestina, Bundoora and Bulleen involved. We fielded five teams and reached the finals in the Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15. Our congratulations to the Under 14 and Under 15 on their success. We are now just a couple of games into the Junior Fixture for 1986 and we are happy to report good wins for the Under 16, Under 15 and Under 13. Whilst other teams are still to record their first victory we feel sure that with their hard training these wins are not too far away. Nory Barbieri (Secretary Veneto Juniors).

Sottocomitato Tennis
Non sembra vero, ma un altro anno e gia passato ed e cosi giuntal'ora di chiudere questa parentesi durata dodici mesi, ed archiviarla. No, prima di fare cio, vorrei rievocare ed analizzare l'operato del sottocomitato Tennis, durante it suo anno in carica. Con il sostegno di tutti i membri e simpatizzanti del Veneto Tennis sono stati organizzati due "Dinner Dance". Il primp in ottobre, it "Black & White Night", il quale ha avuto un successo che e andato al di la del previsto. Oltre 340 sono stati i partecipanti, molti dei quali in costume "Bianco e Nero" per l'occasione. Cie anche stata una visita inaspettata: Christian, uno dei piu famosi cantanti italiani del momento, it quale essendo in tournee qui in Australia, ci ha dato it piacere di trascorrere alcune ore insieme a noi. I1 secondo Dinner Dance, quello che sta pill a cuore a noi tennisti, e stato in marzo: "l'Annual Tennis Dinner Dance". Come ogni anno, anche questa volta i partecipanti sono stati

Bar-B-Q, bevande e partite di tennis erano a disposizione di tutti. Durante l'anno sono stati organizzati diversi "Round Robins", per adulti ed anche per i pi.0 giovani. In ognuna di queste occasioni sono stati messi in palio dei bellissimi trofei per i primi e secondi classificati, trofei generosamente donati dagli. "sponsors". L'ormai tradizionale incontro di tennis con it Marconi Club di Sydney ha avuto luogo durante l'Australia Day Long Weekend, in gennaio. Con l'aereo o con mezzi propri, oltre 50 membri del Veneto Club hanno attraversato it confine per raggiungere it Marconi Club di Sydney, sede di turno quest'anno per l'incontro tra i due clubs. Dopo due giorni di dure battaglie e con una temperatura che faceva desiderare phi di. essere in spiaggia che non su un campo da tennis, e con una superficie di gioco differente da quella sulla quale i. nostri giocatori sono abituati a giocare, la squadra di casa e riuscita a vincere it primo round di questa sfida patrocinata dalla Banca Nazionale del Lavoro di Sydney.

Dopo un lungo period() d'attesa e stato installato su tutti i-sei campi da tennis, un sistema d'innaffiamento automatico, che dovra proteggere la superfice di gioco durante le giornate aride e ridurre al minimo la manutenzione. II sottocomitato Tennis ha unanimemente deciso di onorare Jack Pillot e farlo "Membro a Vita" della sezione tennis, quale riconoscimento al suo contributo verso it nostro Tennis Club. Durante l'Annual Dinner Dance, gli e stata presentata percio una targa al merito.
Per la prima volta quest'anno una squadra del Veneto Club e stata ammessa a partecipare nel torneo del Pennant "B" Special, una delle piu quotate del Victoria. Vogliamo ora augurarci che i no-

TENNIS - MARCONI vs. VENETO (Gennaio '86)
II capitano della squadra veneta, Mario Basso, mentre si congratula con it capitano del Marconi, Ray Cunico, per la loro vittoria. Dodici mesi sono trascorsi dalla mia ultima relazione e con orgoglio posso dire che questi mesi sono stati colmi di vittorie sportive e di soddisfazioni. Anche in questa stagione si sono ripetute tutte le "classiche' gare interstatali ed interclubs, che ormai sono la parte phi preziosa del nostro calendario sportivo, e tutte, dalla coppa "Il Globo" alla "Nubrik", sono state una sequenza di nostre vittorie. Nell campionato di qualificazione statale poi, i nostri Colla e Gatto hanno battuto tutti i record precedenti. Tali record, da loro stabiliti, ora potranno difficilmente essere eguagliati e tanto meno battuti. Ci6 nella categoria superiore. Purtroppo non siamo stati altrettanto bravi nella serie dei cadetti. Ci siamo rifatti per6 nella serie Bl, con la bella vittoria di G.Mio (nella classifica finale) e con R. e F. Gentilin, padre e figlio, classificatisi primo e second() nella serie B2. Un sentito ringraziamento ed un bravo a tutti questi giocatori, che, piu degli altri, hanno onorato i colori del nostro Club. E tutto questo grazie agli efficientissimi sottocomitati bocciofili, maschile e femminile, che sono stati sempre instancabilmente presenti. Ma oltre a questi piu stretti collaboratori, it mio sentito ringraziamento rivolto al comitato del Club, it quale, con alla testa it presidente Rino Tessarotto, ha cercato in tutti i modi di venirci incontro in ogni occasione. Dalla Sezione Bocciofila Femminile L'anno 1985-'86 si pu6 definire un anno molto soddisfacente per le bocciofile venete. Benche non siano numerose come gli anni scorsi, i risultati sono stati ammirevoli. Si sono aggiudicate it primato nel punteggio del Victoria e hanno dato al Veneto Club , con le loro vittorie, l'onore del trofeo di Club Campione per l'anno 1985-'86. sottocomitato estende un sincero elogio a tutte le giocatrici che con determinazione e tenacia sono arrivate ad aggiudicarsi tali onori.

Treasurer's Report
It is again privilege as treasurer to report on the financial activities of the Club for the year ended 30th April, 1986. The Club has continued to trade strongly, and again, shows a healthy surplus for the period of $171,966.00. Although this figure is down on the corresponding figure for last year, the Club's trading has improved with the decrease mainly attributed to the decline in other activity income, especially the Youth functions, and a rise in overhead and operating expenses. Looking at the figures objectively, and without making comparisons to the excellent results of previous year, the Club has performed quite well. But let us look at these figures in more detail and make these comparisons. The Restaurant and Bar trading activities have increased from the last period with a rise of $167,421.00 (16%) in total sales amounting to $1,208,498.00. This has resulted in a net amount of $375,040.00 worth of proceeds from these trading activities, an increase of $36,529.00 (11%). Congratulations should be extended to all those concerned in this area of the Club's operation. Other activity income has unfortunately shown a decline of $57,986.00 (34%) from the previous year. However, this is mainly attributed to a fall in income from Youth functions of $49,739.00. This decline has been caused by decline in the number of functions held along with the limitations now placed on numbers attending these functions. However, the contribution of $78,067.00 for the year from this area significantly bolsters the Club's income, again, well done to those concerned. Looking at the overhead expenses of the Club the following can be seen:a) Club trading expenses have increased by $10,006.00 (23%) of which half is attributed to long service leave. b) The administration expenses have declined by $14,646.00 (9%). c)Property expenses have increased by $43,071.00 (23%) of which the main contributors were increases in repairs and maintenance by $21,618.00 and maintenance and Car-Park wages by $8,999.00.

E'ancora mio privilegio, come tesoriere, fare la relazione sulle attivita finanziarie del Club per l'anno che si e chiuso al 30-4-'86. Il Club ha continuato la sua gestione consistentemente, e ancora, rivela per it periodo un abbondante disavanzo di $ 171.966. Sebbene questa cifra sia inferiore a quella che corrisponde alla medesima dello scorso anno, l'amministrazione del Club 6 migliorata nonostante la diminuizione degli introiti, dovuta per la maggior parte al minor apporto delle varie attivita, con speciale riferimento ai trattenimenti dei giovani, e nonostante l'incremento delle spese generali e di gestione. Guardando oggettivamente alle cifre, senza fare confronti con gli eccellenti risultati del precedente anno, it Club ha operato veramente bene. Ma consentiteci di guardare a queste cifre in maggiori dettagli e fare comunque alcuni confronti. Le attivita commerciali del ristorante e del bar sono aumentate rispetto all'ultimo periodo con un incremento di $ 167.421 (16%) fino ad un totale sulle vendite di $ 1.208.498. Ci6 e risultato in un incasso netto di $ 375.040 quale valore di attivo da queste attivita commerciali, pari ad un aumento di $ 36.529 (11%). Congratulazioni devono essere quindi rivolte a tutti coloro che sono interessati in questa area di attivita del Club. Gli introiti delle altre attivita, sfortunatamente hanno riportato una diminuzione di $ 57.986 (34%) rispetto all'anno precedente. Tuttavia ci6 e da attribuirsi principalmente all 'apporto inferiore di $ 49.739 pervenutoci dai tarttenimenti dei giovani. Questo calo e stato causato dal diminuito numero dei trattenimenti tenuti, assieme alla limitazione ora instaurata sul numero dei partecipanti. Comunque la contribuzione di $ 78.067 di quest'anno pervenutaci da questa area ha integrato significativamente l'introito del Club, pertanto un elogio a coloro che hanno operato in questo settore. Guardando alle spese generali del Club si possono notare le seguenti:a) Le spese di gestione del Club sono

d) Financial expenses no longer exist with the payment of these debts. The trading surplus of $57,325.00 has naturally been bolstered by other income, mainly membership fees, ($89,851.00) for the year and a healthy figure of interest received ($17,271..00). Again,the overall total surplus of $171,966.00 reflect a more than stable position. Perusal of the balance sheet reflects the always improving financial structure of the Club. The net surplus for the year of $171,966.00 coupled with an increase of current liabilities of $30,486.00 has resulted in the Club increasing its current assets by $32,590,00; increasing its fixed assets by $143,287.00; and clearing its non-current liabilities of $26,575.00. In -short, the Club is in a very fit, economically speaking, position at the current time and I see no reason for this trend not to continue. In conclusion, I would like to thank the Office Staff for their marvellous work over the past year. Thanks are also extended to the Finance Sub-Committee and my fellow Committee Members. Inoltre e da aggiungersi la somma di $ 8.999 spesa per salari e manutenzione dell'auto-parcheggio. d)Le spese per finanziamenti non esistono piu da tempo, dopo il pagamento di tutti i debiti. Il guadagno di gestione di $ 57.325 e stato natural.mente integrato da altri proventi, fra i quali l'apporto delle quote di associazione, ($89.851 per l'anno) e le riguardevoli cifre degli interessi ricevuti (517.271). Di nuovo, it totale del guadagno complessivo di. $ 171.966 riflette una piu the solida posizione. Un accurato esame del bilancio mette in evidenza un continuo miglioramento finanziario della struttura del Club. Il guadagno dell'anno di $ 171.966 accoppiato con la diminuzione dei debiti correnti di $ 30.486 ha portato un aumento dell'attivo corrente di $ 32.590; accrescendo cosi l'attivo fisso di $ 143.287; e la compensazione dei debiti non correnti di $ 26.575. In breve, il Club e attualmente, economicamente parlando, in una sanissima posizione e non vedo alcun motivo perche questa tendenza possa cambiare. In conclusions, vorrei ringraziare it personale dell'ufficio per il loro meraviglioso lavoro svolto durante l'anno passato. APRIL,1986 The Members of the Committee (Directors) of the Veneto Social Club (a company limited by guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th. There were no shares or debentures issued during the year.

No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company.

Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared.

No significant changes in the state of affairs of the Club occurred during the financial year.

No matters or circumstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations of the Club, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the Club in financial years subsequent to the financial year ended 30th. April, 1986.

Since the 30th. April, 1985 no Member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and Members of the Committee.

No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding.

The Financial Statements have been prepared using Cost the Historical Convention The of Accounting. Assets and Liabilities of the Club are therefore stated at the cost applicable at the time they were acquired or incurred.

AUDITORS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF VENETO SOCIAL CLUB (A Company Limited by Guarantee) I have audited the accompanying accounts in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards. Secretary's Report
E. con molto piacere che vi presento la relazione del segretario per l'anno 1986; un anno pieno di conquiste e di stability economica per il Veneto Social. Club di Melbourne. Fra le tante realizzazioni quelle che si distinguono possono essere elencate come segue:-
It is with great pleasure that I present the Secretary's report for the year completed April, 1986; a year which has seen numerous achievements as well as continued financial stability for the Veneto Social Club of Melbourne. Amongst the many achievements, those that stand out can be categorised as follows:-
1.) Miglioramento delle attrezzature per i soci. a)il miglioramento del sistema elettrico; b) la ristrutturazione del bar del. mezzanino; c) l'acquisto della nuova macchina taglia-erba. 2) Il campionato del mondo di tiro a Bocce. 3.) Il viaggio culturale in Italia dei giovani di discendenza veneta. Una cosa importante da ricordare e che le realizzazioni citate qui sopra, e tante altre non specificatamente menzionate, sono state possibili grazie all'impegno individuale di molti soci preparati a lavorare sodo per il bene del Club. Sono certo che ogni socio sara grato a queste persone per il loro impegno. Riguardo ai soci iscritti, i nostri numeri fino al 30 aprile 1986 erano i seguenti: Soci a Vita, 6 Soci. Qust'anno appena trascorso ha visto la partenza del nostro direttore del club, Piergiorgio Cappellotto, che era con not da due anni e mezzo. E'stato con rimpianto che it Comitato ha accettato le sue dimissioni, dopo un periodo di collaborazione tanto felice. Comunque, e sono sicuro di parlare anche a nome di tutti i soci, auguro di cuore al. Sig.Cappellotto "Buona Fortuna" nella sua nuova impresa. Sebbene questo sia stato uno dei momenti piu tristi dell'anno, esso ci ha dato l'opportunita di ripristinare it nostro rapporto di lavoro con il Cay. Rolando Di Bari. Questo rapporto di collaborazione, come il Comitato e i.l Cay. Di Bari prevedono, sari lungo e gradevole per ambo le parti.
1.) Improvement of Members' Facilities. a) upgrading of the club's electrical system. b) remodelling of the mezzanine bar. c) purchase of the new grass-cutting machine. 2.) The Bocce World Throwing Championships. 3.) Cultural Tour to Italy by Teenagers of Veneto descent. The important thing to remember is that the above achievements, and many more which are not specifically mentioned, were only made possible through the efforts of individuals who were willing to put in the hard work. I'm sure all members are grateful for these efforts. In terms of membership, our numbers as the 30th. April, 1986 were as follows:Life Members, 6 Foundation Members, 575 Ordinary Members, 764 Associate Members, 404 Total Membership,

This past year has also seen the parting of our manager of the past two and a half years, Mr Piergiorgio Cappellotto. It was with regret that the Committee accepted Mr Cappellotto's resignation after such a happy association, however I'm sure that I speak for all members of the Club in offering him a most heartfelt "Good Luck" in his new venture. Although this was one of the sadder happenings of the year, it did afford us the. opportunity to revitalise our working relationship with Cay.Rolando Di Bari. This is a relationship that the Committee and Cay. Di Bari anticipate will be a long and gratifying one for both parties. Most members will be aware that the Veneto Social Club's Constitution is in the process of being altered. As yet, the Committee are not able to give details of these changes, but members can rest assured that as soon as they become

Molti soci saranno a conoscenza che per la costituzione del Veneto Social Club sono in corso studi per un aggiornamento; it Comitato non e ancora in grado di dare dettagli sugli eventuali cambiamenti, ma i soci possono stare certi che appena si verra a conoscenza di ogni minim° cambiamento, ogni cosa sara resa nota a tutti. Personalmente posso dire che quest'anno trascorso e stato molto impegnativo. Come e stato gia affermato dal nostro precedente segretario Sig. Frank Barro, la posizione del nostro sodalizio fra la comunita e vista in uno stato di un certo rispetto e, se le mansioni di chi ricopre una carica onoraria debbono essere svolte con un adeguato grado di successo, it sostegno e l'aiuto di tutti i soci sono indispensabili. I miei personali ringraziamenti sono rivolti al personale dell'ufficio per la sua leale e devota collaborazione; a Rino Tessarotto e agli altr.i componenti del Comitato per i loro consigli.; a tutti i soci che hanno rinunciato al loro tempo libero per lavorare a favore del Club; ai membri del "Finance Sub-Committee" che hanno offerto la loro competenza e la loro esperienza per it miglioramento del Club; ed in fine all'avvocato del Club, Loris Sartori, particolarmente per it suo continuo impegno di fronte alla ristrutturazione della costituzione del Club. As mentioned by our previous secretary, Mr Frank Barro, the position is one which holds a certain amount of respect amongst the community, and if the job is to be completed with any degree of success, much help and support is necessary for whoever holds the position in an honorary capacity. My personal thanks are extended to the office staff for their loyal and devoted support; to Rino Tessarotto and the other committee members for their guidance; to all members who voluntarily give up their free time to work for the benefit of the club; the members of the Finance Sub-Committee who offer their expertise and experience for the improvement of the club; and finally Loris Sartori, the Club Solicitor, in particular for his continued efforts opposite the revamping of the club's constitution. Dal Sottocomitato "Shooters" QUAILS BREEDING CO. Dopo dodici mesi di assiduo lavoro posso dire che it Veneto Social Club Shooters in abbinamento con l'Abruzzo Club, ha conquistato nuove mete. La dedicazione e l'abnegazione spontanea dei nostri membri, con una diligente guida, ci hanno portato ad una posizione certanlente piu sicura, piu ferma e piu rispettata nel circolo sportivo dei tiratori al piattello. Come "Chairman" son ben lieto di poter fare un'asserzione di questo genere ed it mio elogio va a tutti coloro che spontaneamente hanno contribuito al solo scopo di puro divertimento ottenibile nell'esercizio di una attivita di questo genere. Nelle nostre riunioni, al Melbourne Gun Club, c'e sempre stata una partecipazione dai quaranta ai cinquanta "shooters" che rappresenta un potenziale non certamente inferiore a quello degli altri clubs esistenti.

Netball's Report
1985 was an eventful year for the Veneto Netball. Of the four teams we have, we had one premiership side and one runners up team. As usua] all the girls worked hard all year to achieve these results. This especially showed at last year's Spring Sports Carnival where instead of the usual Moomba Park teams reaching the finals, it was our very own Veneto team who played off against San Marco. The day was a great success, with every club participating in netball. There were 56 games played throughout the day and everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The day was enjoyed by all who participated and by the avid supporters of each club. 1985 also saw one of the netball girls, Linda Pierobon become an entrant for the Miss Veneto Quest. When Linda was first asked to become an entrant, she did so knowing that she had the support of her fellow netballers backing her all the

way; and well, where else would you find a more suitable entrant except amongst the netballers. As it so happens, luck is still with us in full force in 1986. With only a couple of games left to play, our last years premiers side are in the finals yet again, whilst our other seniorteams have an unbeatable reputation down at Royal Park. What a way to go girls!... In the meantime, our third senior team and our promising junior teams are playing well using the remainder of this season as a practise for what they have in store for the oposition next season. We are currently looking for a suitable person interested in training our netball teams on Wednesday nights for 1 2 hours for a fixed price. We prefer the person to be a badget umpire. Anybody who may be interested please contact me on 268 4901 work hours only. Now on to a somewhat sour note. I feel I must now place my emphasis on a point which is greatly ignored by a vast number of people at the Club. Since first coming to the Club to play netball some eight years ago, there were 5 teams playing back then. Since that time, I have seen netball deteriorate to a number

of only two teams. Through the years, with the enthusiasm of new girls and younger girls joining up, we were able to form a long lost junior team, and another senior team. However, although we've restored our numbers, all is not well. Netball, although not completely recognized by the Club and its' members, is the most played sport by women in Australia, and obviously enjoyed by the twenty six girls who play it at the Club. I therefore again ask for the co-operation of members to keep the car park area used for training, to be kept clear each Wednesday night between 7.30 pm. and 9.00 pm. there are notices in the Rialto Bar - please adhere to them.

Best and Fairest awards for the season went to the following: B Grade: Greg Reeve; B Res. Grade: John Dal Santo; C Grade: Dominic DeStefanis; D Grade: Rino Polisel; D Res. Grade: Chris Apswoude; E Res. Grade: Dominic Nicolazzo.
The Squash Section is affi— liated with the Victorian Squash Rackets Association and competes with the Club Circuit Section of the Melbourne compe— tition. Two Pennant competitions are held annually, both lasting 4 months. The Club is currently competing in the Autumn '86 season which is at the mid— way mark.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP The Club Championship is held annually in July between the two Pennant competition seasons. The 1985 champion was Mario Siliato who narrowly defeated Greg Reeve in a five—set final. A Plate Trophy Event,hel.d in conjunction with the Championship, was won by 14year hold Shane Dal Santo, the son of active Squash Committee member John Dal Santo. Shane shows great promise and could lift the Club in future years. He defeated Rino Polisel in the final of the Plate.
SPRING PENNANT (Aug.—Nov.'85). This was a disappointing se— ason for the Club, with the three top teams failing in their respective grades. Two teams, however, did well. These were the C Grade Team, captained by Rino Po— lisel, lead by Renato Morasco. Unfortu— nately both were defeated in the Grand Finals.
VENETO SPRING CARNIVAL The Section again organized a squash tournament in conjunction with the Spring Carnival. Although team en— tries were a little disappointing, the competition was keen and resulted in a win for the Casa D'Abruzzo Club. Veneto was defeated by Casa. D'Abruzzo in a semi—final.

AUTUMN PENNANT(Feb.-Jun.'86) The Club is again fielding six teams in the V.S.R.A. competition. Unfortunately the Club lost Greg Reeve and some other top players at the end of the Spring season, but this was offset by the gain of new players in lower grades. Captains of the respective teams are as follows: B Res. Grade: Ron Barbano; C 1 Grade: John Coleman; C Res. Grade: Sam Aliotta; D 1 Grade: Joe Macciocca; D 2 Grade: Claude Franciscelli; F 1 Grade: Sam Magnano. At the mid-way stage of the season, best prospects to win a pennant appear to be Ron Barbano's B Res. Grade Team, who are clear leaders. The C Res. Grade Team, under Sam Aliotta's guidance, is currently second and also should be in contention. "Veneto Youth" Sub-Committee
It is once again my great pleasure to report on the progress of the Veneto Youth for the '85/'86 year. Once again it has been quite a successful year. Attendances have been steady and have resulted in a very healthy profit. The Veneto Youth Committee is very pleased with its financial achievements, although socially the year has not met up to our expectations. It has become quite apparent that the Committee is wholly and solely only a "Disco organizing committee" and has lost the social flavour which was visible a few years ago when I myself first joined the Youth Club. As a result, the only function outside the discoes that the Youth Committee organize is the ever so reliable "Snow Picnic". It is very difficult to pinpoint what exactly has caused this drift, as we (the Committee) have often discussed the issue and have come to no conclusive reason or explanation. We endeavour to continue these discussions and attempt to rectify the situation. I must now thank Carlo and Sergio for all their patience, guidance and assis—

Many thanks must go to the Security, especially Robin Bailey and Ken Tucknott for their reliable assistance in the smooth running of the discoes. The same must be said of our D.J'S. - Sandy, Denis, and Adrian as well. The Committee has been a pleasure to work with, and my gratitude is extended to them all, as well as those who have decided not to continue their term in the Committee. I apologize for not presenting a photo of my Committee along with this report, however, I hope that the list as follows will suffice: Anthony Schieven, Pina Macri, Sandra Velo, Gianna Cortese, Adrian Tocchetto, Joe Polazzon, Dianne Dallon, Andrew Theodoulou and David Desarin. Siamo stati in trasferta per tre giorni, assieme alle nostre consorti e ci siamo esibiti di sabato sera per la serata dell'anniversario, alla cui festa era ospite d'onore anche it Premier del South Australia, l'on.John Bannon fra le altre autorita italiane e australiane. La domenica sera successiva il. Club di. Adelaide ha organizzato una speciale serata popolare in nostro onore: la sala traboccava di folla, da molto tempo non si vedeva cosi tanta gente, e noi, in un piccolo intervallo, ci siamo esibiti con ben 18 canzoni. Non ci
avrebbero piu lasciato andar via. alla fine eravamo sfiniti dalla stanchezza, ma l'entusiasmo dei presenti ci ha ben compensato della fatica. Ora siamo in fase di rinnovo, abbiamo bisogno di ringiovanire un pochino it settore dei primi e dei secondi tenori. Approfitto quindi dell'occasione per invitare tutte le gentili signore e signorine a far parte del nostro "Coro" e della nostra allegra brigata. Veneto S. Club & Regione Veneto
Cinquanta Giovani, figli di emigrati veneti, in Italia per un viaggio culturale. A questa iniziativa del nostro Club, in collaborazione con la Giunta regionale del Veneto, non si pu6 che fare un doveroso elogio. Sappiamo che i "clubs" regionali istituiti nella nostra citta di emigrazione hanno principalmente lo scopo di essere ritrovi dove si possano ripetere le nostre tradizioni; luoghi di incontri fra connazionali desiderosi di ritrovarci in un ambiente che ci ricordi la nostra cultura d'origine. A volte possono anche essere un emblema che dimostri con orgoglio la nostra identita. Le attivita sociali e sportive che in essi si svolgono sono gia di per se stesse un motivo giustificante it sacrificio di chi si e dedicato con abnegazione a creare e ad amministrare tali organizzazioni.
Vivi la vita del Club ... negli amici
Tutto ci6 e lodevolissimo. Ma l'iniziativa presa dal Veneto Social Club, promossa dal presidente in carica, Sig. Rino Tessarotto, ha dimostrato che un club pu6 essere molto di piti di quanto ciascuno avrebbe potuto pensare. Infatti questa iniziativa si proietta nel fututro per mantenere anche nelle nuove generazioni quel senso di italianita che altrimenti si sarebbe inesorabilmente spento dopo la scomparsa degli italiani di prima emigrazione. Nel momento questo viaggio di esplorazione culturale attraverso i luoghi di origine, aiuta i figli di not immigrati a riconoscersi in unlidentita certa e dignitosa dopo it travaglio dell'adattamento al nuovo ambiente dove sono cresciuti e dove sono stati educati. Nello stesso tempo, riallaccia quei vincoli di origine e li salda nelle nuove generazioni con i benefici che ne conseguono sia per la nostra Italia che per la nuova Patria adottiva, l'Australia. Il successo di questa iniziativa non ha un limite a se stessa ma si riprodurra nel futuro in un
