PRESIDENT'S REPORT 1984
RELAZIONE DEL PRESIDENTE E'mio grande piacere e dovere presentare la mia prima relazione annuale all'assemblea generale dei soci del Veneto Social Club. Di quanto 6 stato fatto in questi dodici mesi, come Presidente, devo dare atto di riconoscimento a tutti i membri del Comitato di aver svolto it proprio compito con grande impegno e serieta, riuscendo a mantenere it nostro sodalizio ad un alto livello di efficienza. Un sincero ringraziamento ed elogio vada anche all'amministrazione del Club, che, con precisione e chiarezza ci ha sempre tenuti informati sulla situazione finanziaria. Sotto questo aspetto l'opera del Sig. Mario Bonis e stata preziosa. Il suo lavoro, prima come tesoriere e dopo come amministratore, ci ha permesso di avere sempre un resoconto settimanale. Dalla relazione del nostro tesoriere potete constatare che it nostro Club ha fatto un altro notevole passo avanti. merito di cici 6 da attribuirsi a tutti i soci sia per it contributo di lavoro volontario che ci 6 stato dato che per la fiducia e per la numerosa frequenza qui al Veneto Social Club. Anche quest'anno abbiamo avuto le nostre attivita sportive, e le nostre feste tradizionali, ma nello scorso dicembre vi sono state le celebrazioni del Decimo Anniversario dell'apertura della nostra Sede. A questo proposito vorrei ancora una volta ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno lavorato volontariamente. Se dovessi ringraziare singolarmente tutti coloro che hanno collaborato per it raggiungimento di questo lusinghiero tra-
It is my great pleasure and duty to present my first annual report to the General Assembly of the Veneto Social Club. For all that has been achieved in the past twelve months I must, as President, recognize and give credit to all. Committee Members for having executed their tasks with great commitment and seriousness, thus maintaining a high standard of efficiency in our organization. Sincere thanks and prise must also be given to the Club's administration, who have always kept us informed on the Club's financial situation, with precision and clarity. Mr Mario Bonis' contribution in this regard has been invaluable. Through his work, initially as Treasurer and later as Administrator, we were always able to receive weekly reports. From the Treasurer's report, it is evident that our Club has made another notable step forward. The merit must be attributed to all members for their voluntary work rendered, for the trust placed in us and for the always numerous attendances here at the Veneto Social Club. This year, as always, our sporting activities have been held as well as our traditional events, but last December we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Club. Once again, I would like to thank all those who volunteered their services to aid in this occasion. If I were to individually thank all those who have contributed to the making of this flattering goal, it would result into a very lengthy list and in the end I would probably risk forgetting someone. Hence, on my part and on behalf of all the Committee I would like to give a hearty thank you to everyone, including the sponsors that have helped us financially. Recognition must also go to all the Club's personnel for all the work executed diving the most difficult moments showing good will and efficacy. And now I would like to remember our various sub-committee since they are the backbone of all our events. Firstly I would like to mention, not so much out of politeness, but as a sign of sincere recognition, our excellent Ladies

guardo, ne verrebbe fuori un elenco troppo lungo, e alla fine forse rischierei anche di dimenticare qualcuno. Quindi a nome mio e di tutto it comitato un grazie di cuore a tutti, inclusi anche gli "sponsors" che ci hanno aiutato finanziariamente. Un riconoscimento vada anche atutto it personale del Club per it lavoro che ha svolto nei momenti piu difficili dimostrando volonta ed efficacia. Ed ora vorrei ricordare i nostri vari sottocomitati poiche loro sono it cuore di tutte le nostre manifestazioni. Debbo menzionare in primo luogo, non tanto per dovere di galanteria, ma in segno di sincero riconoscimento, le nostre bravissime Ladies Auxiliary che anche quest'anno hanno ottenuto grandiosi successi dei quali not tutti ne siamo orgogliosi. Ringrazio la Signora Giovanna Rigoni, la presidentessa uscente delle Ladies Auxiliary, per quel grande lavoro che ha svolto negli anni trascorsi, e auguro alla nuova presidentessa Bianca Martini che it futuro sia altrettanto colmo di successi e soddisfazioni. I nostri bocciofili anche quest'anno hanno dimostrato la loro capacitor di sapersi distinguere fra i migliori d'Australia, e si sono veramente fatti onore ai campionati mondiali conquistando it quarto posto in classifica. Anche la sezione bocciofila femminile si e fatta valere per le doti sportive e per la tenacia. Desidero ancora ricordare e ringraziare i componenti del comitato giovanile, che a loro volta hanno saputo crearsi una solida organizzazione e sono riusciti ad attrarre alle loro manifestazioni un grandioso numero di figli dei nostri soci. Con cio hanno potuto intrattenersi in sani divertimenti e piu che mai hanno dato un grande contributo finanziario al nostro Club. Non posso tralasciare di ringraziare i nostri soci tennisti che, non solo hanno organizzato numerosi tornei e feste, ma hanno lavorato per un traguardo che oggi godono con successo. Infatti i due nuovi campi da tennis sono stati terminati e di questo si deve ringraziare it presidente del sottocomitato e ,quelli degli anni passati e tutti i membri del tennis che hanno collaborato per questo successo. Il "Soccer", come sempre ha i suoi grattacapi, per6 le squadre "Junior" anche quest'anno portano i loro frutti, e di cio ne siamo tutti orgoglisi. Spero che anche i "Senior" troveranno la loro stabilita. Sinceramente devo ringraziare
Auxiliary. They have once again this year achived outstanding successes, of which we are all proud. I thak Mrs Giovanna Rigoni, the former President of the Ladies Auxiliary, for all the great work she has done in these past years. I wish the new President Bianca Martini a future filled with just as much success and satisfaction. Our "bocce" players have once again demostrated their ability to distinguish themselves amongst the best in Australia and they have truly esteemed themselves by reaching fourth place in the world championship. The women's team have also shown their value through their sporting ability and tenacity. I would once more like to acknowledge and thank the members of the youth committee, who have succeeded in building a strong organization and have been able to attract huge numbers, at their events, of our members' children. In doing this they have been a part of a respectable entertainment and above all, they have made a large financial contribution to our Club. I mustn't neglet to thank our tennis members who not only have organized numerous tournaments and parties, but have worked towards a goal that today they enjoy with success. As a matter of fact, the two new tennis courts have been completed. For this we must thank the President of the sub-committee and those of previous years, as well as all tennis members who helped with this success. The soccer as always has its problems; however, the junior teams have again had success and of this we are all proud. I hope that the senior teams will also achieve stability. I sincerely must thank the soccer sub-committee and the soccer women for the work they do each year, tirelessly. A thank you to all other sporting subcommittee who make up the backbone of our Club, and to all those who take care of the various teams. Full praise and deep gratitude must go to the chorus singers who are the pride of our, Club. Their artistic abilities are rewarded by the numerous requests they receive and I wish them equal success for the future. During the past year, the Club has been honoured with many visits by distinguished Australian and Italian people. All congratulated us once again on our great Club, of which we are justly proud. Finally, a worm greeting and thank you to all members and to everyone who has, in various way, contributed to the success of the Veneto Social. Club's

it sottocomitato "Soccer" e le donne del "Soccer" per quel lavoro che fanno ogni anno instancabilmente. Un ringraziamento a tutti gli altri sottocomi.tati sportivi che formano l'ossatura del nostro sodalizio, e a tutti coloro che si prendono cura delle varie squadre. Un omaggio pieno di commossa gratitudine giunga ai coristi che sono l'orgoglio del nostro Club. Le loro capacita artistiche vengono premiate dalle numerose richieste che ricevono ed io auguro loro che nel futuro abbiano ancora altrettanti successi. Durante it trascorso anno it Club e stato onorato da numerose visite di personality australiane e italiane. Ognuno si e ancora una volta congratulato per it nostro magnifico Club di cui not veneti ne siamo giustamente orgogliosi. In fine un affettuoso saluto e ringraziamento a tutti i soci, e a tutti coloro che in qualsiasi maniera hanno contribuito al successo di tutte le attivita del Veneto Social Club. Un grazie a tutto it personale del Club e in particolare una affettuosa menzione al nostro caro socio Lino Bettiol. Un'altra stagione e tramontata lasciando it ricordo di tutte le nostre attivita. Ma con grande soddisfazione possiamo ancora vantare un altro anno pieno di successi. Tutte le attivita rivolte ad accumulare fondi da donare in beneficienza al Villaggio Vaccari ed alla "Spastic Society" hanno dato copiosi frutti. Il concorso "Miss Veneto Quest" ci ha portato nuovamente alla ribalta della cronaca comunitaria e per it buon esito di questa manifestazione e per la tangibile consistenza dei fondi raccolti bisogna ringraziare tutti coloro che in ogni modo hanno collaborato. Particolarmente si deve la nostra riconoscenza alle graziose concorrenti Tania Bassora, Sonia Rodighiero e Flavia Bottazzi ed ai loro rispettivi genitori. Fra le note che lasciano un po' di rammarico bisogna rilevare il che it gruppo del nostro sottocomitato "Ladies Auxiliary" si e assottigliato. Le attivita a noi richieste sono sempre le stesse ma noi siamo rimaste solo in sette. Tuttavia, con buona volonta e dedizione, speriamo di poter svolgere anche nel futuro tutto it lavoro che abbiamo sempre fatto in favore del nostro Club. Nel presentare i nostri ringraziamenti e it nostro cordiale saluto alla nostra ex-presidentessa Sig.ra Giovanna Rigoni, vogliamo darle atto che le saremo sempre riconoscenti per l'esempio che ci ha dato e che faremo tesoro di quanto abbiamo imparato dalla sua lunga e proficua attivita in seno al nostro gruppo. Alla Sig.ra Bianca Martini, la nostra nuova presidentessa, diamo it piu affettuoso benvenuto e le formuliamo l'augurio di un prospero futuro.
Un ringraziamento deve essere rivolto alle signore che lavorano volontariamente nella Sala San Marco poiche i.l loro contributo e essenziale e da tutti apprezzato. Dal Primo Vice-Presidente
Mi accingo per l'ennesima volta a mettere insieme la relazione per l'anno finanziari.o appena terminato. E'stato definitivamente un anno di grandi successi per il Club che ha visto, nella celebrazione del suo decimo anniversario, una folla enorme riunirsi qui per dare concreta testimonianza del nostro orgoglio di veneti. Mi sento con piacere obbligato a congratularmi con le signore del sottocomitato del "Ladies Auxiliary" e con tutti i sottocomitati per gli splendidi risultati conseguiti nello scorso anno. Ogni attivita ha visto crescere it numero dei partecipanti e migliorare l'organizzazione. I1 successo del picnic, le celebrazioni del decimo anniversario, le varie feste danzanti e la castagnata sono it frutto della cooperazione di tutti i dipendenti, dei volontari del comitato, e della direzione. A tutti coloro che hanno dimostrato la loro solidarieta al Club donando ore ed ore del proprio lavoro va la mia commossa riconoscenza e tengo a far sapere che senza it loro aiuto non si sarebbe potuto fare tanto. Mi voglio pure congratulare col nostro nuovo direttore Pier Giorgio Cappellotto, anche lui veneto purosangue, che in questi ultimi mesi ha fatto piacevolmente sentire la sua presenza, e gli auguro di continuare a lungo la sua associazione con il Club. Come "liason officer" per il sottocomitato bocce voglio congratularmi con il Sig.Angelo Bolzanello e con tutto it sottocomitato per aver saputo condurre i nostri bocciofili a cosi tante vittorie, e specialmente per gli onori ricevuti dalle nostre squadre ai campionati mondiali. A tutti i soci rinnovo it mio sentito grazie per l'appoggio datomi anche durante quest'anno e auguro al sodalizio veneto un brillante avvenire in tutte le sue attivita. La cooperazione di tutti voi rende possibile preservare questa piccola parte della nostra cultura qui in Australia e dobbiamo pertanto sentirci orgogliosi per il frutto delle nostre fatiche.
Dal Chairman del "Building Sub-Committee"
Mi si presenta alla mente diverse volte la domanda se il "Building Sub-Committee" sia ancora necessario dopo dieci anni che la nostra sede e stata costruita. Ma poi riflettendo all'operato odierno di questo sottocomitato mi si presentano scottanti ed imponenti tutti i problemi della manutenzione di quel grande complesso edilizio che e in realta l.a nostra Sede. Costruito col sacrificio di molti di noi, con una volonta ferrea di ottenere un luogo dove riversare la nostra vita sociale piena di tutte le nostre tradizioni, questo grande palazzo oggi e diventato it nostro orgoglio ed it nostro secondo domicilio dove ci ritroviamo e ci riconosciamo. Poiche e parte di noi stessi abbiamo it dovere di far si che non deperisca nel tempo e di vigilare che l'uso, ed a volte purtroppo lo sconsiderato abuso, non lo riducano in uno stato indegno della nostra personalita. E'doloroso dover constatare che spesse volte atti vandalici danneggiano irrispettosamente la nostra comune proprieta. E'doloroso perche questi atti provengono da giovani che dimostrano una chiara irriverenza verso il nostro sacrificio, verso quel lavoro che noi abbiamo fatto anche con l'intento di renderli beneficiari nel loro futuro. Preservare l.a nostra sede da tutti i pericol.i che potrebbero danneggiarla e dovere, non solo di questo sottocomitato, ma di tutti i soci indistintamente inclusi anche quell.i che sono i genitori di quei giovani che, o direttamente o a causa di amici poco scrupolosi che introducono al club, apportano danni alle nostre attrezzature. Questa voce di bilancio, sempre negativa, potrebbe essere ridotta notevolmente se si potessero eliminare i vandalismi che ogni giorno purtroppo si devono riscontrare e la somma che rimarrebbe potrebbe essere invece devoluta a continui miglioramenti delle nostre attrezzature con soddisfazione e godimento di tutti.

Dal Comitato "Bocce"
Questa 6 la relazione delle attivita bocciofile svolte durante la passata stagione. Una relazione, come vedrete, ricca di risultati sportivi e sociali che giustamente ci rende molto orgogliosi. Anche in questa stagione, oltre alle innumerevoli vittorie conseguite nelle gare di qualificazione, tutti i importanti "tornei Interclub" sono stati vinti dai nostri giocatori. Infatti, it torneo "Omega-De Pasquale", it torneo "Gran Paradiso", la "Coppa Il Globo" ed alla fine anche it "Gran Premio NuBrik" sono stati altrettante vittorie dei nostri. Ma non abbiamo solo vinto, abbiamo addirittura sbaragliato tutti e ci siamo assicurati, specialmente nel "Gran Premio Nu-Brik", tutti i primi quattro posti. Ora la stagione e quasi terminata e resta da giocare solo it campionato individuale. Io sono sicuro che anche in questa occasione i nostri sapranno farsi rispettare come in passato. I nostri giocatori si sono piazzati primi in tutte le categorie e precisamente: E.Colla nella "State League", P.Rigo nella Serie A, e L.Ambroso nella B. Anche quest'anno i componenti della statale per i campionati australiani, per cinque sesti sono dei nostri: Chiumello, Colla, Gatto, Gusatto e Simonetto sono infatti i prescelti. Sono continuati gli ormai tradizionali scambi di visite con it Marconi Club di Sydney e prossimamente avremo la visita del Yoogali Club di Griffith. Insomnia abbiamo svolto un programma che nulla ha da invidiare ai precedenti, e questo grazie al nostro attivo sottocomitato che ci ha dato tutta la sua collaborazione, e grazie anche alle signore che per tutto l'anno, volontariamente, si sono prestate per la riuscita di tutte le nostre manifestazioni. A tutti un cordiale e sincero ringraziamento, rivolto anche alla direzione del Club che ha fatto tutto i.l possibile per venire incontro ai nostri desideri. Soccer's Report
At the end of the 1983 season we were able to look forward to the 1984 season with the promise of promotion to the 3rd. Division of the Metropolitan League. The seniors finished at reasonable level and the juniors enjoyed a most successful season. Training started early for the senior and juniors, with the juniors staging the Northern Regional Cup for the Under 13's and later still they organized the Junior Veneto Cup. At this point the committee expresses their thanks and gratitude to Mauro Baldi and Mary Bianco for the smooth running and success of the Cup. A great deal of time and effort ensured the enjoyment of the tournament by all the clubs that participated. Mauro has been assured that even more clubs will participate next season. The 1984 season for the seniors has proved a rather challenging force, but one we have the confidence of winning. We will be able to show that we deserve our placing within the Metropolitan League. Because of our upgrading and also in view of the fact that three of our players chose to transfer to other State League Clubs, we were left with the task of finding some new players. Three of the senior players that have joined us from State and National clubs are, Pino Curcio ex Juventus and Sergio Sabbadini and Emilio Anselma from Fawkner. With the seniors and juniors we have a total of 9 teams that we must look after. With so many players there are also many problems and with a lot of patience and foresight, I am sure that we will be able to meet every team's demands. The financial and the moral support which is needed with our teams comes from many and varied sources - parents, financial supporters, sponsors and players themselves, but in particular a special acknowledgement must be given to the Ladies Soccer Committee. These ladies are forever working on our behalf and without their help we would not be able to afford the committment that we give to our players. We must not forget the support that we receive from the Main Social Committee of the Veneto Club as a whole but also there are many of the members of this committee which work hard on our behalf.

This year we are also celebrating the 10th. anniversary of the formation of the 1st. soccer team at the Veneto Club. From the first year of soccer, which was played at Marcellin College to the present day, many people have been involved and they have given much of themselves to the success of the game at the Club. To say thank you is just not enough but, perhaps the most appropriate way of demonstrating this, is to show strength of purpose in a united and sound soccer committee - one which is able to work for all players - with the support of the soccer community, parents and supporters. The next 2 to 5 years will be the most crucial time for soccer developement at the club, but if we can be truely a united team, from players, parents and committee, there is no reason why we cannot make it to State League in the near future. To the soccer committee I would like to impart a special thank you - most of them have been in the committee for some years and have contributed a great deal of time and effort to ensure that the soccer at the club is ever successful. But most importantly ensuring that the younger members of the club participate in a worthwhile sport. This year 2 explayers of the seniors joined our committee and Pat Saladino and Adrian Bennetti have shown us how capable they are and also how committed they are to soccer at the club.

Netball's Report
In season 1983-'84, Veneto Social Club has had three teams entered in the competition. VENETO I - Franca Bordin, Franca Pegoraro, Annette Finco, Daniela Domini, Sandra Papa, Maria Anzanello,Debbie Hodgens, Sonia Pretotto, Sandra Velo,Tina Sanelli. Although riddled with injuries VENETO I is having a successful season in both Tuesday and Saturday Competitions. Defender Sonia Pretotto who has torn ligaments in her ankle has been unavailable for a number of weeks but should be back playing fairly soon. Regardless, VENETO I has progressed steadily in the Tuesday Competition and hope to play off in the finals in the Saturday Competition. VENETO II - Tracey Cullinan, Gina Tieppo, Nadia Pacetti,Franca Branco,Tina Sanelli, Guilia Rigoni, Tania Ficai, Lucy Panozzo.

After some very close exciting encounters VENETO II is sitting in second position on the ladder. The finals will be in June and we are expecting big things from VENETO II. Good luck. VENETO III - What a team. They have been together for only two seasons after a very long break and are sitting right on top of the ladder. With the finals coming up, we wish them all the luck and are hoping for a flag. New players are alway welcome to join. Treasurer's Report A trading profit of $32,314 for the year has been achieved compared with a loss of $56,262 in the previous year. Whilst sales revenue has decreased by $31,742 and increases in some costs such as Workers Compensation by $4,500 (23.5%) the profit has been achieved mainly from the following:1.Cutting wages costs overall by approximately $30,000 by pruning staff and the wonderful contributions of voluntary work by the Ladies Auxiliary, Members and the Committee and I express my appreciation to all of those concerned. 2. The contribution from Youth Dances and Functions produced revenue of $91,623, an increased of approximately $47,000 from the previous year. 3.Improvements in revenue from the Newsletter, Bingo, Bocce and a reduction in the Soccer Club loss. 4. A reduction in repairs and maintenance by approximately $12,000. The Ladies Auxiliary has again made an excellent contribution of $9,466 (net) to the Club, the increase in membership fees produced an additional $25,721 and Foundation Members donated $25,626 of their original loans to the Club. As a result of the foregoing the overall surplus for the year amounted to $165,393 compared with $27,243 for the previous year. Close budgetary control, supervision by the Finance Sub-Committee, and the hard work of many people have been the contributing factors in achieving this situation. On first review it would seem that despite this improvement in profitability there has been little improvement in liquidity because Current Liabilities exceed Current Assets by approximately $108,000. The principal reason for this is that Debenture Loans of $80,550 will fall due in August,1984 and Member's Loans of $13,580 fall due in Apri1,1985. It is considered that the Debenture Loans may be met substantially from Membership Fees which are now due and some support from a temporary increase in overdraft facilities. Provided the Club can maintain its present levels of profitability by strict controls for the year ending 30th Apri1,1985the liquidity problems should be overcome by that date. Giancarlo Bassora. Da un primo esame sembrerebbe che, nonostante questo aumento di profitto, vi sia troppo poco miglioramento nella disponibilita di liquidity poiche it corrente passivo eccede 1 'attuale attivo di circa $108.000. La maggiore ragione di ci6 e dovuta al fatto che i prestiti da obbligazioni per $80.550 scadono in agosto 1984 e i prestiti dei Soci Fondatori per $13.580 sono pagabili nell'aprile 1985. E'stato considerato che ai prestiti da obbligazioni si pu6 far fronte sostanzialmente con l'introito delle tasse di associazione che sono ora in riscossione e con un certo aiuto

dall'aumento temporaneo dello scoperto che la banca concede. A condizione che it Club possa mantenere it suo attuale livello di profitto con uno stretto controllo per l'anno che termina al 30 aprile 1985, i problemi di liquidity dovrebbero essere superati a quella data. The Club has not provided for depreciation of buildings which are included in the Balance Sheet at the cost of $1,120,093 refer Note 2. This is a departure from a Statement of accounting Standars issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Society of Accountants. In our opinion deprecation should be charged to the income and Expenditure Statement so as to absorb the cost of the buildings over their useful economic lives. The Club has not calculated the financial effect of this departure from the accounting standard and it is impracticable for us to estimate this. The Balance Sheet shows that at 30th April, 1984 the Current Liabilities exceeded the Current Assets by This deficiency in working $107,680. capital principally arises from a requirement to repay the Debenture Loans totalling $80,550 by August, 1984. The present Committee is of the opinion that the Debentures can be repaid out of the Membership Fees which are now due with

the possibility of obtaining a temporary extension of the Overdraft facility. Subject to the Club maintaining profitability at a level for the current year similar to that achieved for the year ended 30 Apri1,1984, and with the exception referred to above relating to depreciating buildings, in our opinion:(a)the accompanying accounts which have been prepared under the historical cost convention are properly drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Companies (Victoria) Code and so as to give a true and fair view of: the state of affairs of the company at 30th Apri1,1984 and the results for the year ended on that date; and the other matters required by Section 269 of that Code to be dealt with in the accounts; (b)the accounting records and other records and registers required by the Companies (Victoria) Code to be kept by the company have been properly kept in accordance with the provisions of that Code. THE COMMITTEE'S STATUTORY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30th. APRIL, 1984. The Members Df the Committee (Directors) of Veneto Social Club (a company limited by guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th. April, 1984 and Income and Expenditure Statement for the year ended on that date and report as follows: 1. The Members of the Committee (Diretors) in office at the date of this report were: Messrs. G.Boarotto,U.Masci,A.Martini, R.Tessarotto, T.Agnoletti, G.Moro, D.Barbieri, R.Rostolis, P.Fongaro, G.Bassora and F.Barro 2. The principal activity of the Club during the year ended 30th. April, 1984 was to provide social amenities to its Members. 3. The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $165,393.00 Income tax is not applicable thereto. 4. There were no material transfers to or from reserves or provisions during the year ended 30th. April, 1984 5. There were no shares or debentures issued during the year. 6. No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company. 7. Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared. 8. The Directors took reasonable steps, before the Income and Expenditure Statement and Balance Sheet of the Association were made out, to ascertain that all known bad debts were written off and adequate provision was made for doubtful debts. 9. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances which would render the amount written off for bad debts, or the ammount of the provisions for doubtful debts inadequats to any substantial extent. 10. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances which would render the values attributable to the current assets in the accounts misleading.
11. No charge on the assets of the Club has arisen since the end of the financial year to the date of this report to secure the liabilities of any other persons. 12. No contingent liability has arisen since the end of the finacial year to the date of this report. 13. No contingent liability or other liability has become enforceable or is likely to become enforceable within a period of twelve months after the end of the financial year which in the opinion of the members of the Committee will or may affect the ability of the Club to meet its obligations as and when they fall due. 14. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances not otherwise dealt with in the report or accounts which would render any amount stated in the accounts misleading. 15.In the opinion of the Members of the Committee the results of the Club's operations during the financial period have not been substantially affected by any item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature. 16.Since 30th. April, 1984 to the date of this report, in the opinion of the Members of the Committee, no item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature which would affect substantially the results of the. Club for the next succeding financial year, has occurred. 17.Since the 30th. April, 1983, no Member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and Member of the Committee. 18.No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding. Secretary's Report Although I have been an ordinary member of the Veneto Social. Club since its initiation, I had not previously served on the Committee until having been elected as secretary at the annual General Meeting on June 23rd.1983. I am sad to say that I had hardly frequented nor patronised the Club previously, and presently realise the enjoyments and participations I had allowed to slip through my fingers. To serve as secretary with the Committee has been an achievement which I could hardly forget, an experience which I can proudly state and a post which is highly respected amongst the community and in particular the ethnic clubs within Australia and abroad, not to mention the political recognition amongst our governamental departments, both State and Federal. It has been a year of a rather complex beginning only to be concluded with success. The Committee after having sorted out their personal controversies united strongly and worked as a team being ruddered, with tolerance, patience and understanding by our President Mr Rino Tessarotto. Because capitol improvements are nearing their end, the Club with careful and professional administration can only improve in the future, however, I believe that certain amendments, deletions and inclusions ought to be implemented to our constitution so as to reach and satisfy the present day needs of our members. I would point out that the office staff have at all times showed their endeavours to please, and continuously and obediently laboured towards the interest of our Club with immense pride. Further I take this opportunity in thanking the Finance Sub-Committee (who were re-introduced this Year) and the trustees for their untiring voluntary services given to our Club. The advices and recommendations received were of great assistance to us in reaching some of final conclusions. Finally I wish to convey my appreciations for the co-operation and support given to me by all the Committee Members throughout the year. My responsibility as secretary was facilitated due to the dependable and sound advices received.
Because of the uniformity within the Committee, success was made easier. I would urge a member in the future to consider in taking up the post of secretary to gain .a special experience which cannot easily be obtained elsewhere. Frank A. Barro Hon. Secretary.
Relazione del Segretario Sebbene io sia stato un socio ordinario del Veneto Social Club fino dai suoi inizi, non avevo mai servito in precedenza nel comitato fino a quando sono stato eletto come Segretari.o all'assemblea generale annuale del 23 giugno 1983. Sono spiacente di dover dire che in precedenza raramente frequentavo il Club, ed oggi riconosco quali occasions di divertimento e partecipazione mi sono lasciato sfuggire dalle mie mani. Servire come segretario nel comitato e stata un'esperienza che difficilmente potro dimenticare, un'esperienza di cui ne vado fiero e una posizione che e altamente rispettata fra la comunita ed in particolare fra i clubs in Australia e all'estero, senza menzionare il riconoscimento fra le sfere politiche dei governi Statale e Federale. E'stato un anno con inizi piuttosto complessi che si e poi concluso con successo. Il comitato, dopo aver riordinato le varie controversie personali, saldamente unito ha lavorato come un gruppo guidato, con tolleranza, pazienza e comprensione dal nostro presidente Rino Tessarotto. Poiche i miglioramenti al capitale sono vicini al termine, il Club, con un'amministrazione oculata e professionale, nel futuro potra soltanto progredire, comunque io credo che certi emendamenti, abrogazioni e aggiunte, dovrebbero essere apportati alla nostra costituzione cosi da raggiungere e soddisfare le odierne necessity dei nostri soci. Vorrei far notare che il personale dell'ufficio in ogni momento ha dimostrato la propria volonte di soddisfare, e coscienzi.osamente e obbedientemente ha lavorato per l'interesse del nostro Club con immensa fierezza. Inoltre colgo questa opportunity per ringraziare il. Sotto-Comitato alle Finanze (reintrodotto quest'anno) e gli

Amministratori Fiduciari per I loro instancabili servizi resi volontariamente al nostro Club. I consigli e le raccomandazioni ricevute sono state di grande aiuto a not per raggiungere le nostre conclusioni finali. In fine io vorrei dimostrare i miei apprezzamenti per la cooperazione el 'aiuto datomi da tutti i membri del comitato durante l'anno. Le mie responsabilita di segretario sono state facilitate dai fidati e validi consigli ricevuti. Per l'uniforme units nel comitato il. successo e stato facile. Io vorrei esortare i soci di prendere in considerazione nel futuro la possibility di occupare la carica di segretario poiche ne potranno trarre un'esperienza che non sara facile ottenere altrove. Colgo gradita questa opportunity che mi permette di ringraziare pubblicamente it Comitato Direttivo e tutti voi Soci che avete voluto affidarmi la direzione del Club al quale mi sento legato essendo io pure veneto. Debbo apertamente manifestare it mio profondo apprezzamento a tutti coloro che con instancabile dedizione mi aiutano nelle numerose faccende che di giorno in giorno debbono essere svolte. Un particolare ringraziamento per ci6 lo devo alle "Ladies Auxiliary". A tutti i soci col mio grazie riconoscente unisco la preghiera di raccomandare ai giovani di usare it Club con lo stesso rispetto della propria casa. Poiche mi rattrista profondamente l'insensato vandalismo a cui certi giovani hanno assoggettato it Club in questi ultimi tempi. Rapporto del Sottocomitato Tennis
Non sembra vero che sia gia passato un anno dalle ultime elezioni e che it periodo in cui 1 'attuale sottocomitato tennis 6 in carica sia ormai giunto al suo termine. L'anno 1983-'84 6 passato veloce, forse perche 6 stato un anno in cui tutto 6 proceduto bene e non ci sono stati ostacoli difficili da superare lungo it percorso. Tutti gli eventi organizzati a scopo di raccogliere fondi sono stati fruttiferi. I Round-Robins mensili hanno sempre avuto molto afflusso di parteciInoltre i due campi da tennis panti. sono stati appena terminati. Vorrei ora passare a descrivere dettagliatamente i successi importanti conseguiti dall'attuale sotto comitato: Il tennis picnic annual.e a Bacchus Marsh del novembre dell'anno scorso ha riscosso un enorme successo ed i numerosi soci ed amici che sono convenuti, hanno potuto usufruire di quattro campi da tennis sull'erba messi a nostra disposizione per quella giornata. La serata battezzata "FAME", la quale ha attratto circa 500 persone, 6 risultata di essere stata l'evento 'di piti grande successo finanziario fin da quando 6 stato istituito it nostro Tennis Club. La riconquista del "Trofeo Marchesin", in palio fra la nostra rappresentativa e quella del Marconi di. Sydney, benche ottenuta di strettissima misura, 6 sempre una vittoria della quale i1 nostro sodalizio ne pue essere orgoglioso. La sfida, svoltasi sui campi del Marconi a Sydney, 6 stata interrotta per via del maltempo quando le due squadre avevano conquistato 8 vittorie ciascuna. Ma io sono piu che sicuro che i nostri l'avrebbero spuntata anche se avessero dovuto portare a termine tutti gli incontri. Comunque i.l "Trofeo Marchesin" 6 stato assegnato alla nostra squadra in quanto ha pareggiato fuori casa. Il "Gala Dinner Dance" annuale, come al solito, ha visto un pienone e, come tutte le altre feste, ha avuto un risultato positivo. Per questo bisogna ringraziare le persone incaricate per l'impegno da loro messo. Come detto prima, a tutti

Circolo Anziani di Bulleen
circolo degli anziani di Bulleen e dintorni vorrebbe ricordare le piacevoli attivita the si sono svolte durante it 1984. Sin dal primo pranzo con cui abbiamo dato it via alle nostre attivita,abbiamo ricevuto un'ottima accoglienza dal Veneto Sicial Club. In uno dei nostri pranzi di ogni giovedi del mese sono stati invitati due signore del comune di Doncaster, in rappresentanza della "Nursing Home". Finito it pranzo, it nostro presidente Sig.Carlo Frigo fatto loro l'offerta di $100 come gesto di solidarieta per la suddetta "Nursing Home". Anche Luciano Ferracini, it Padre spirituale della comunita italiana di Bulleen, stato nostro ospite. Un membro del parlamento di Canberra, il. Sig.Staples, ha voluto conoscerci e anche visitare it Veneto Social Club ed e rimasto veramente soddisfatto. Un viaggio a Warnanbool e diverse altre escursioni di un giorno hanno fatto parte delle nostre attivita sociali. Sempre un numero co-

Dal Sottocomitato "Shooters" Dando uno sguardo agli ultimi dodici mesi con l'intento di ricapitolare gli avvenimenti piu importanti e quelli di un certo valore illustrativo, vedo che ho poco materiale a mia disposizione. Comunque, come primo dovere, sento la necessity di esprimere i miei ringraziamenti a tutti coloro che hanno cooperato nel nostro sottocomitato "Shooters", in special modo, al Presidente Rino Tessarotto ed al nostro "Laieson Officer" Cay. Tom Agnoletti, per la loro affability e per la loro predisposizione a movimenti creativi in seno al Veneto Social Club. Nella lista dei nostri "Sponsors" dell'anno appaiono: Jack Antonio, un assiduo competitore e sostenitore; Ernesto Bertollo, it nostro vice-presidente, appassionato e dedicato tiratore; Val Dal Santo, it nostro presidente. Un meritato grazie anche a loro perche, oltre al tempo richiesto per esplicare le loro funzioni esecutive nel nostro gruppo, hanno anche contribuito finanziariamente. nostro "Dinner Dance", tenuto verso la fine dell'anno scorso, e stato un vero successo. La partecipazione di quattro orchestre e l'affluire di nuovi ospiti ha creato un'atmosfera piu che piacevole. II servizio ed un'ottima cucina hanno contribuito molto alla riuscita di una serata veramente indimenticabile.

nostro "Shooters Club" ha ormai raggiunto una posizione stabile ed affermata e, anche se le nostre attivita e le nostre risorse sono limitate, le prospettive sono rassicuranti. Con rincrescimento abbiamo dovuto accettare le dimissioni del nostro segretario Ron Brida, che per molti anni e stato al servizio del nostro sottocomitato. suo contributo e stato di grande valore alla nostra organizzazione e anche se non ci sono rimunerazioni materiali, it nostro sottocomitato afferma all'unanimita la sua opera edificativa e rivolge a lui i nostri piu alti sentimenti di riconoscenza e gratitudine. Certo, non si pu6 servire indefinitivamente e, qualunque sia l'occupazione, tutto passa, ma in fondo rimane quel legame d'amicizia, rispetto reciproco e affetto, che certamente e al di sopra di ogni altro bene. Dal "Coro Veneto" Non molto numerose, ma di completa soddisfazione sono state le manifestazioni a cui i.l. nostro gruppo corale ha partecipato quest'anno. Purtroppo it gruppo sta invecchiando e necessita dell'adesione di nuove leve per ringiovanirsi e tramandare le sue tradizioni artistiche nel futuro. Tuttavia le richieste della nostra partecipazione alle varie manifestazioni comunitarie sono sempre molte ed it successo non manca mai. Quest'anno abbiamo presenziato alle seguenti manifestazioni: Settembre 1983 - Arcobaleno; P.Reffo matrimonio; - Camberwell Civic C.; Ottobre 1983 - Festa dei Bassanesi; Novembre 1983 - Corale 3 Venezie; - Festa Lygon Street; Dicembre 1983 - V.S.C. X Anniversario; Febbraio 1984 - Messa in Latino Deutch Rachige; Marzo 1984 - City of Doncaster; - Messa S.Giuseppe; Aprile 1984 - Rotary Club Preston; - Heidelberg Festival; Giugno 1984 - Mirtleford Festival.

Le richieste della nostra presenza sarebbero state molto pi6 numerose ma phi di ci6 non ci 6 stato possibile fare. Quest'anno purtroppo dovr6 ritirarmi dalla mia carica di coordinatore. Sono spiacente di ci6 ma motivi di forza maggiore me lo impongono. Spero di essere compreso e quindi scusato. Colgo pertanto l'occasione per ringraziare tutti coloro the hanno collaborato con il sottocomitato del "Coro", tutti i coristi ed in particolare it maestro Nino Morandin ed it mio predecessore Walter Reffo. Squash Sub-Committee
President: John Dal Santo; Vice-President: Rim Dal Santo; Treasurer: Morrie Rech; Secretary: John Coleman. The Squash Section continues to be active and competes in the Club Circuit District of the Squash Rackets Association. 1984 was the fouth year that Veneto has competed in the Club Circuit which is restricted to private clubs and comprises most of the top clubs in Melbourne. The Circuit provides a high standard of competition squash as well as a most enjoyable social atmosphere. Two Pennant Competition Series are held each year. The Autumn Pennant runs from February to June and the Spring Series from August to November. SPRING PENNANT 1983. The Club entered six teams in the 1983 Spring Pennant Competition, however no pennants were won. The Club's top graded team was captained by John Dal Santo and competed in the B Reserve Grade. Two teams reached the finals however both were defeated in the Grand-Final, these were the E Grade Team, captained
by Bert Caneva and the F Reserve Team led by Lou Odorico. Congratulations go to both these teams for a great effort. The C Grade Team, captained by Danny D'Odorico, also had an excellent season, however missed out on the finals on percentage. JOHN DAL SANTO - CLUB CHAMPION. The Club held its Championship Tournament early in October 1983. The Tournament was most successful) with 30 members competing. Club Champion was John Dal Santo who defeated Nat Surace in a closely contested final. The B Grade Final was won by John Schilachi, who also put up a fine performance. AUTUMN 1984 In the current Autumn Season the Club has entered a record seven teams. The Club's top team has been promoted to B Grade and is again captained by John Dal Santo. All teams are performing creditably, however the best premiership chances lie with Fred Martin's F Grade Team and Lou Odorico's F Reserve Boys. This could be Veneto's year for some pennants. The B Reserve Team, lead by John Coleman and the C Grade Team captained by Danny D'Odorico also have great chances of making the finals. NEW MEMBERS REQUIRED The Squash Section is in continual need of new Pennant Players and invites all Social Squash Players to come along and participate. Pennant Squash is undoubtedly the best way to improve ones game as well as providing social enjoyment. No matter, your level of squash, the Club can fit you into a team.
