Amici Veneti E' con particolare piacere che mi rivolgo a Voi dalle pagine di questo bollettino per farVi pervenire il. mio piu cordiale saluto e le mie congratulazioni per questa ulteriore ricorrenza annuale del Vostro Sodalizio. Pur essendo arrivato a Melbourne da poco meno di un anno, ho avuto, durante questo tempo, varie occasioni di frequentare la Vostra sede e di essere ospite negli accoglienti locali del Veneto Club. Posso affermare senza alcun dubbio che it Club dei Veneti costituisce certamente un vanto per le organizzazioni associative della nostra comunita, non soltanto per lo spirito di cordiality che circonda la Vostra vita sociale, ma anche per la bellezza e la funzionalita della Vostra sede la cui ottima organizzazione e gestione sono naturalmente merito e vanto del Presidente, del Comitato Direttivo e di tutti coloro che ad esse si dedicano predisponendo per i Soci ed i frequentatori un luogo di svago e di "relax". Altra particolare benemerenza della Collettivita veneta e quella di essere riuscita a concentrare in un'unica sede l'Associazione regionale dei Veneti di questo Stato in uno spirito di unione e di solidarieta che certamente va portato ad esempio come prova tangibile di una volonta comune tesa verso obiettivi comuni. Auspico che tale prova di coesione regionale e di spirito comunitario possa essere presa ad esempio dalla Collettivita italiana del Victoria. Auguro al. Veneto Club di proseguire sulla strada tracciata e che it futuro possa essere apportatore di ulteriori successi e soddisfazioni.

PRESIDENTE Siamo giunti alla fine dell'anno sociale 1982-'83 ed e con piacere che assolvo al dovere di presentare a Voi tutti la relazione dei fatti piu salienti relativi alle nostre attivita sociali. Fra tutte le varie manifestazioni ricreative e sportive, organizzate durante l'anno da tutti i nostri comitati, come le cene danzanti ormai tradizionali del tennis, del calcio, delle bocce, del coro, dei cacciatori e di tutti gli altri sports, quest'anno merita una nota a parte la cena organizzata per festeggiare il. decimo anniversario della nostra rivista "L'Eco del Veneto". Questa speciale serata ha riscosso un magnifico successo di simpatia dai nostri soci e dai simpatizzanti e mi auguro che possa continuare per molti anni a venire. Devo menzionare a questo punto anche le altre maggiori manifestazioni, fra cui le varie "Fashion Parade" delle nostre Signore Ausiliari; la "Miss Veneto" che ci tiene in contatto con la comunita australiana grazie alla generosity dei soci per le loro offerte
We have reached the end of the social year 1982-'83 and it is my pleasure to present to you all the report on the most outstanding events in our calendar. Amongst the various recreational and sporting activities organised by our sub-committees through the year, which include for example, the now customary Dinner Dances for the Tennis, Soccer, Bocce, Shooters, Choir and other groups, a special note of attention must be given to the Dinner Dance held in honour of our magazine "L'Eco del Veneto: Club members and non-members who share a special interest in the "L'Eco" found this evening uniquely attractive. trust this will continue in the years to come. At this juncture I would like to specially mention the other major events. The various Fashion Parades organised by our wonderful. Ladies Auxiliary; the Miss Veneto quest which, thanks to the generous donations of club members to Spastic Children, allow us to enter the Miss Australia quest and keep in contact with the Australian

a favore dei bambini spastici che ci permettono di partecipare al "Miss Australia Contest"; la tradizionale visita del. Marconi Club di Sydney per disputare it Trofeo Marchesin; la visita della nostra squadra di bocce al Veneto Club di Adelaide per it trofeo dell'Amicizia; e lo Sport Spring Carnival che accomuna ogni anno tanti giovani Italo-Australiani di vaie regioni d'Italia. Popolari e sempre riuscitissimi sono it nostro picnic natalizio e la castagnata della prima domenica di maggio. Inoltre i giovani, con i loro Rocks e Disco Night rappresentano un sicuro avvenire del nostro Club anche per le future generazioni. La "Coppa Italia" di calcio organizzata per la prima volta al Veneto Club ci ha dato anche la soddisfazione di vedere la nostra squadra classificarsi seconda sorprendendo quasi tutti. Per questi successi e per tutti gli altri avvenimenti che hanno dato merito al nostro Club, devo ringraziare l'operosita di ciascun socio e di ogni membro dei vari sotto-comitati che, come sempre, si sono dedicati con entusiasmo per la buona riuscita di tutte le nostre manifestazioni. Premesso quanto sopra, e mio dovere portare alla vostra attenzione la situazione finanziaria del Club. Diverse polemiche ed addebiti sono stati fatti al presente comitato it quale si e trovato in carica nel periodo di scadenze gia determinate alle quali non si pensava negli anni precedenti in quanto ancora venture. Oggi it tempo del rendiconto e venuto ed it presente comitato ha dovuto muoversi in proposito per aggiustare la situazione. Una situazione scabrosa se si vuole, ma non pericolosa o grave come si fa apparire. Infatti i debiti del Club sono contratti con i soci stessi e quindi dipende solamente dai soci una risolozione equa e pacifica. Se si vogliono controllare i bilanci degli anni passati e confrontarli con l'ultimo bilancio, possiamo chiaramente notare una gestione del Club attiva ma non lucrativa, come d'altronde e sempre stato. Mancano le riserve bancarie; ci6 e vero. Ma i soci, quando nelle assemblee generali trascorse approvarono i preventivi di spesa per i miglioramenti alla Sede, gia sapevano e comunque potevano almeno supporre che tali spese dovevano essere coperte con ci6 che it Club stesso possedeva. lavori sono stati fatti in obbedienza alle decisioni prese in tali assemblee ed ora ovviamente i soci dovranno approvare soluzioni che coprino le spese medesime. Siamo nuovamente all'inizio
Community; the traditional visit of the Marconi Club from Sydney at which the Marchesin trophy is competed for; the visit to the Adelaide Veneto Club by our "Bocce" team for the "Trofeo dell'Amicizia"; the Sport Spring Carnival which each year brings together ItaloAustralian youth from different Italian regions. Our Christmas Picnic and "la Castagnata" on the first Sunday of May are also always popular and successful. Furthermore the youth exhibit their involvement and organisational ability with their Rock & Disco Nights. They represent a secure future for our Club in the coming generations. La "Coppa Italia" soccer contest organized for the first time at the Veneto Club, gave us the satisfaction of seeing our team finish second, surprising almost everyone. For these success and for all the other events which have given merit to our Club, I must thank each club member and sub-committee member for their work and for having always enthusiastically dedicated them selves towards achieving good results. Having stated the above, it is my duty to draw your attentio to the Club's financial situation. Various controversies and foults have arisen before the present committee, which has found itself governing during the period of expiring dates of loans previously determined and which had not been thought of in past years since they were seen as issues of concern for the future. Now the time to look at our account has come and the committee has acted to amend the situation. It may be said a difficult situation, but not dangerous or grave one as it could appear to be. Infact the debts of the Club are the contract with the members themselves. A fair and practical solution depends solely on the club-members. If we look at the balance sheets of the past years and compare them with the latest balance sheet, we can clearly notice an active management of the club but not as profitable as it had been in the past. We lack bank reserve funds; this is true. When the various general assemblies took place at which the club-members approved the budget of estimated costs for the renovations of the club, the members already knew or could have assumed that such expenditures had to be covered by the money which the Club possessed. The renovations have been made in accordance to the decisions taken in the assemblies and now the club-members will have to approve the necessary solutions to cover

come situazione di disponibilita di liquids, e pertanto come nel 1973 o i soci appoggiano ancora il. Club rinnovando i loro prestiti per dar modo al Club di avere il tempo di ricapitalizzare quanto si a speso, o ci si deve rivolgere ad una organizzazione bancaria per ripagare i prestiti dei soci. Il comitato in carica ha prospettato delle soluzioni abbastanza logiche ed eque, ma la risposta dei soci fino ad oggi e stata scarsa. A mio parere a necessario muoversi subito anche per le scadenze del prossimo anno poich6 certi problemi non si possono rimandare, ed it procrastinarli nel tempo crea solo malcontento e preoccupazioni che talvolta possono anche travisare la realty della situazione. I Soci Fondatori che sono la maggioranza dei creditori verso il Club hanno saputo sacrificarsi quando la somma che hanno versato nel 1973 aveva un valore rilevante, ed esitano ora che la svalutazione ha reso irrisorio ci6 che devono avere di ritorno. Mi auguro che ognuno prenda reale coscienza della situazione attuale e che decida in conseguenza in modo da non deteriorare ci6 di cui tutti siamo orgogliosi. Solo un po' di buona volonta rimetterebbe il Club nella sua posizione di stability e di progresso. IL PRESIDENTE Gilberto Martini

We are once again, as at the begining in 1973, in a situation where we lack liquidity and hence if the members don't support their Club by renewing their loans so that the Club is given time to regain the sum which it has spent, then the Club will be forced to turn to bank finance and borrow the money for repaying the loans originally taken from the members. The existing committee has presented some logical and fair solutions but to date the response from the club-members has been scarce. In my opinion it is necessary to act immediately, even in regard to expiring dates for the comming year since such issues cannot be postponed and putting them off in time only creates discontentment and concern which in turn may also distort the reality of the situation. The Fundation Members who are the major creditors of the Club were able in 1973 to make sacrifices and loan to the Club a sum which then had an outstanding value. Now that this sum has been greatly devalued and that it is time for them to have it back I trust they will hesitate and take full consciousness of the situation and make a decision which will not harm that which we all are proud of. Arche se non siamo in molte, possiamo dire ancora una volta che lo scorso anno e stato colmo di soddisfazioni e successi. Come negli anni passati, abbiamo lavorato per it Villaggio Gualtiero Vaccari e per i bambini spastici del Victoria. Colgo questa occasione per ringraziare le tre ragazze che hanno partecipato al concorso di Miss Veneto, Patrizia Conte, Laura Kalika e Rosa Dalla Rosa nonche le loro rispettive famiglie. Un grazie ancora vada a tutte le Signore Volontarie che lavorano nella Sala San Marco di domenica sera,
e a tutti coloro che hanno contribuito alle nostre feste negli scorsi dodici mesi. Sono certa che it Comitato Ausiliario continuera con entusiasmo it suo lavoro per it bene del nostro Club. Grazie a voi tutti, cari Soci, per it vostro immancabile sostegno morale e pratico, e cosi pure ai membri del Comitato Direttivo per il loro aiuto. Anche quest'anno siamo giunti al termine ed e mio piacere e dovere rivolgermi a voi Soci per presentarVi la mia relazione circa le attivita del nostro Club. Tutte le sezioni sportive hanno registrato dei successi piu che lusinghieri. In questo campo credo non ci siano affatto lamentele da poter fare anzi direi che possiamo ben essere orgogliosi di tutti i vari sotto-comitati che organizzano le loro attivita con una maestria ormai professionale. Se si deve citare in particolare qualcosa, rimane soltanto ci6 che 6 avvenuto di nuovo rispetto agli altri anni. Quest'anno infatti abbiamo ospitato per la prima volta le gare di calcio per la "Coppa Italia". Questo avvinimento ha portato ancora maggior prestigio al nostro Club che ha dimostrato di saper gestire con successo situazioni di importanza direi nazionale. L'organizzazione e stata magistrale e ci ha procurato l'ammirazione di tutti. E' vero che i nostri impianti sportivi e sociali sono di alto livello, ma bisogna comunque dare atto anche ai nostri organizzatori che non si sono risparmiati nel dare quanto potevano di se stessi per la buona riuscita di una cosi importante manifestazione. Grazie quindi a tutti e spero la soddisfazione del successo ottenuto vi abbia ampiamente ripagato dei vostri sacrifici. Un altro avvenimento nuovo e molto simpatico e stato la celebrazione del decimo anniversario del nostro giornaletto "L'Eco del Veneto". Penso che ci6 abbia fatto piacere a tutti poiche era giusto dare un riconoscimento anche a questa nostra attivita di cui ne andiamo tanto orgogliosi. Auguriamoci che continui nel modo in cui sta andando e ringraziamo coloro che operano in tale attivita, con un particolare ringraziamento al Sig.Gilberto Martini, it nostro presidente, che ne e it direttore. Un ringraziamento speciale desidero rivolgerlo a tutti quei soci che mi hanno dimostrato la loro sincera amicizia, che mi hanno reso lieta e facile la mia funzione di vice-presidente. DAL SECONDO VICE-PR ESIDENTE
E' trascorso ormai un altro anno e come Vice-Presidente del Veneto Club sono lieto di adempiere al mio dovere di dare questa mia relazione ai Soci. Fra cose buone e cose meno buone, anche quest'anno possiamo assommare diverse soddisfazioni. In tutti i settori sportivi delle nostre attivita possiamo elencare successi sia agonistici che di organizzazione, ma soprattutto vorrei citare l'avvenimento della Coppa Italia che ha dato al Club, oltre alle soddisfazioni sportive, un sostegno finanziario abbastanza notevole. A questo proposito e mia intenzione ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno collaborato con it Comitato Soccer e le bravissime Signore che per dieci settimane hanno,tutti assieme, svolto un lavoro ammirevole. Un particolare grazie voglio rivolgerlo, sia a nome mio che di tutto it Comitato Soccer, a Mr.Sartori e Mr.M.Gobbo per it loro interessamento gratuito per farci ottenere la licenza degli alcolici. Questo fattore e stato molto importante
per it successo degli avvenimenti relativi allo svolgersi delle competizioni della "Coppa Italia". Voglio inoltre mettere in evidenza la sportivita di tutti i soci che ci hanno sostenuto con it loro agonismo di tifosi e che, nonostante l'affollamento della nostra Sede non si sono lamentati per i disagi incontrati nel parcheggiare le loro auto. Un'altra cosa veramente utile ed opportuna che voglio ricordare sono stati i lavori di giardinaggio svolti dietro it campo sportivo e dietro i campi da tennis. Tali lavori hanno dato pill spazio ai nostri parchi ed hanno abbellito tutta la zona vicino al fiume. Come sempre c'e qualcuno che lavora gratuitamente in favore del nostro Club; questa volta si deve la riconoscenza al Sig. O.Bruni, direttore della "Alto Constructions P./L." che ha donato la terra necessaria ed ha impiegato i suoi macchinari per svolgere quel grandioso lavoro che tutti possiamo vedere. Per quanto ha fatto vada al Sig. O.Bruni la riconoscenza di tutti i soci ed un particolare ringraziamento da parte mia, dal Presidente Sig.G.Martini e da tutto it Comitato Direttivo. Altrettanti ringraziamenti a tutti coloro che si sono adoperati a rimuvere la vecchia baracca, a preparare la terra e a seminare l'erba.

Once again we have reached the end of a most successful year and I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to all members and sports subcommittees for their support and co-operation. All the various sporting bodies have done extremely well in their competitions. The Veneto Social Club this year was honoured to be the host Club of the "Coppa Italia" and also the "Australian Junior Bocce Championship". I would also like to extend my most sincere thanks to all members who gave so readily of themselves, their assistance at the Spring Sports Carnival, and for helping to make it such a success. My thanks also to the members whom so diligently attended the Sports Manager's Meetings during the past year. Thank you one and all for your assistance and co-operation. RELAZIONE DEL SOTTOCOMITATO DELLE BOCCE Anche quest'anno, come lo scorso anno, i giocatori del. Veneto Club hanno vinto un gran numero di gare. Le gare di Federazione delle tre categorie "SL" - A - B sono state vinte dai nostri giocatori cosi come tutte le gare interclubs. Alla luce di questi successi possiamo quindi affermare con orgoglio che i migliori giocatori di bocce del Victoria appartengono al nostro Club. Anche quest'anno, come negli anni passati la gara del "Doppio Nubrik" l'abbiamo vinta not conquistando un primo ed un terzo posto. Nelle prossime gare per i Campionati Australiani di Bocce che si svolgeranno ad Adelaide, ben cinque dei nostri giocatori rappresenteranno it Victoria. Essi sono: L.Chiumello, E.Colla, P. Gusatto, S.Gatto e B.Vittadello•. Alla conclusione di questo anno sociale vorrei ringraziare tutti i membri del nostro sotto-comitato bocce per il lavoro svolto nella manutenzione dei campi da gioco. DAL SOTTOCOMITATO BOCCIOFILO FEMMINILE
L'anno 1982-83 si pub definire un anno soddisfacente per le Bocciofile Venete. Una cosa in particolare degna di essere ricordata: le Signore del Bocciofilo Veneto hanno avuto anche quest'anno l'onore di vincere i1 Trofeo del Club Campione. Sono ormai otto anni che alla fine dell'anno Bocciofilo viene fatta questa competizione e per sette anni le Bocciofile Venete hanno avuto l'onore di aggiudicarsi questo ambito premio. Il Sottocomitato si sente in dovere di estendere un sincero ringraziamento a tutte coloro che per tanti anni hanno cooperato con determinata tenacia ad avere questo onore. E'doveroso menzionare, come sempre, l'aiuto generoso e instancabile che le Signore del Sottocomitato hanno dato durante
l'anno per la riuscita di tutte le manifestazioni Bocciofili, specialmente nel dimostrarsi ospiti gentili e capaci in occasione degli incontri amichevoli sia locali che interstatali. Despite an increase in sales of approximately $100,000 over the previous year the trading loss increased to $56,262 as compared with $35,710 incurred in the previous year. Obviously this situation has occurred as a result of overall increase in expenses and in areas such as repairs and maintenance, costs of bands and entertainers and Club charges which were incurred for the purpose of encouraging the members to utilise the facilities of the Club. Included in the sales revenue is approximately $36,000 arising from Kiosk sales by the Soccer Sub-Committee, the Youth Sub-Committee was responsible for deriving approximately $45,000 and the Ladies Auxiliary $9,300 and a special note of appreciation is expressed to all of those persons concerned in making these contributions to the Club. The balance sheet indicates that the Club faces severe liquidity problems until such time as an adequate trading surplus can be generated or further long term borrowings are arranged. It is most desirable that future capital expenditure should be strictly curtailed until such time as the Club's financial problems have been overcome. The funds statement shows that capital expenditure of $137,000 was mainly financed by the use of funds previously on deposit $72,987 and bank facilities which have deteriorated by $27,013. I wish to again thank the Sub-Committees and staff for their assistance and all members for their patronage over the year. TREASURER

Nonostante un aumento di circa 100.000 dollari nelle vendite dell'anno appena trascorso, la perdita commerciale e arrivata fino a $56.262 che paragonata ai $35.710 della perdita dell'anno precedente e di molto superiore. Ovviamente questa situazione si deve al risultato dell'aumento complessivo delle spese e nell'aumentato costo delle riparazioni e manutenzione degli impianti; al costo delle orchestre e dei presentatori e alle spese del. Club che sono state incontrate allo scopo di incoraggiare i soci ad utilizzare le attrezzature del Club stesso. Incluso nelle entrate vi sono approssimativamente $36.000 provenienti dalle vendite del Chiosco del Comitato "Soccer". Dallo "Youth Sub-Committee" sono derivati approssimativamente $45.000 e dalle "Ladies Auxiliary" $9.300. Una speciale nota di apprezzamento deve essere espressa a tutte queste persone interessate nell'apportare queste contribuzioni al Club. Il bilancio indica che it Club sta incontrando grossi problemi di liquidity fintanto che un adeguato guadagno non possa essere garantito dalle vendite o siano stipulate delle condizioni di prestiti a pill lunghe rateazioni. Sarebbe molto propizio che ulteriori spese di capitalizzazione sulle costruzioni fossero rigorosamente ridotte fin tanto che questo periodo di problemi finanziari del Club non sia superato. Il rendiconto dei fondi dimostra che le spese del capitale di $137.807 e stato per la maggioranza finanziato dall'uso di fondi precedentemente in deposito $72.987 e le agevolazioni bancarie che sono deteriorate per $27.013. Desidero ringraziare ancora tutti i sotto comitati ed it personale per it loro aiuto e tutti i soci per it loro apporto durante l'anno.

The Club has not provided for depreciation of buildings which are included in the Balance Sheet at the cost of $1,120,093 refer Note 2. This is a departure from a Statement of accounting Standars issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Society of Accountants. In our opinion deprecation should be charged to the income and Expenditure Statement so as to absorb the cost of the buildings over their useful economic lives. The Club has not calculated the financial effect of this departure from the accounting standard and it is impracticable for us to estimate this. With this exception, in our opinion the accompanying accounts which have been prepared under the historical cost convention stated in Note 1 are properly drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Companies (Victoria) Code and so as to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Club at 30th Apri1,1983 and the results for the year ended on that date.

The Balance Sheet shows that at 30th April,1983 the Current Liabilities -xceeded the Current Assets by The present Committee has given n•ertakings that it will increase overall profitability, seek further funds by way of a levy on members and increased membership fees, and request the delay of repayment of Foundation Member Loans and Debenture Loans should the above means of increasing liquid funds be insufficient in meeting the requirements of the Club. Subject to the implementations of these undertakings, in our opinion: (a)the accompanying accounts give a true and fair view of the other matters required by Section 269 of the Companies (Victoria) Code to be dealt with in the accounts. (b)the accounting records and other records and registers required by the Companies (Victoria) Code to be kept by the Club have been properly kept in accordance with the provisions of that Code. The Balance Sheet shows that at 30th Apri1,1983 the Current Liabiliti- -xceeded the Current Assets by The present Committee has given n ertakings that it will increase overall profitability, seek further funds by way of a levy on members and increased membership fees, and request the delay of repayment of Foundation Member Loans and Debenture Loans should the above means of increasing liquid funds be insufficient in meeting the requirements of the Club. Subject to the implementations of these undertakings, in our opinion: (a)the accompanying accounts give a true and fair view of the other matters required by Section 269 of the Companies (Victoria) Code to be dealt with in the accounts. (b)the accounting records and other records and registers required by the Companies (Victoria) Code to be kept by the Club have been properly kept in accordance with the provisions of that Code. 7th June,1983

THE COMMITTEE'S STATUTORY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30th. APRIL, 1983. The Members of the Committee (Directors) of Veneto Social Club (a company limited by guarantee) submit herewith the Balance Sheet as at 30th. April, 1983 and Income and Expenditure Statement for the year ended on that date and report as follows: 1. The Members of the Committee (Diretors) in office at the date of this report were: Messrs. G.Martini, R.Piva, M.Bonis, A.Martini, R.Tessarotto, T.Agnoletti, D.Barbieri, B.Cecchetto, G.Moro, D.Rigoni, P.Rossilli, R.Rostolis and R.Bordin. 2. The principal activity of the Club during the year ended 30th. April, 1983 was to provide social amenities to its Members. 3. The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $27243.00. Income tax is not applicable thereto. 4. There were no material transfers to or from reserves or provisions during the year ended 30th. April,
1983. 5. There were no shares or debentures issued during the year. 6. No payment of dividends as such are permitted under the Memorandum of Association of the Company. 7. Since the end of the previous financial period there were no dividends paid or declared. 8. The Directors took reasonable steps, before the Income and Expenditure Statement and Balance Sheet of the Association were made out, to ascertain that all known bad debts were written off and adequate provision was made for doubtful debts. 9. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances which would render the amount written off for bad debts, or the ammount of the provisions for doubtful debts inadequats to any substantial extent. 10. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances which would render the values attributable to the current assets in the accounts misleading.
11. No charge on the assets of the Club has arisen since the end of the financial year to the date of this report to secure the liabilities of any other persons. 12.No contingent liability has arisen since the end of the finacial year to the date of this report. 13.No contingent liability or other liability has become enforceable or is likely to become enforceable within a period of twelve months after the end of the financial year which in the opinion of the members of the Committee will or may affect the ability of the Club to meet its obligations as and when they fall due. 14. At the date of this report, the Members of the Committee are not aware of any circumstances not otherwise dealt with in the report or accounts which would render any amount stated in the accounts misleading. 15.In the opinion of the Members of the Committee the results of the Club's operations during the financial period have not been substantially affected by any item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature. 16.Since 30th. April, 1983, to the date of this report, in the opinion of the Members of the Committee, no item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature which would affect substantially the results of the Club for the next succeding financial year, has occurred. 17.Since the 30th. April, 1982, no Member of the Committee has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of a contract between the Club and Member of the Committee. 18.No options to shares in the Club have been granted during the year nor are there any options outstanding. RELAZIONE DEL SEGRETARIO
SECRETARY's REPORT
It is with pleasure that I report the completion of another year for the Club. The complition of the ,Sala San Marco was probably the highlight of the Committee's undertakings for the year, and full congratulations must be given to the Building Subcommittee for its efforts. In the current economic depression, which we are all facing, the Club's liquidity has been difficult to maintain. But now, with the accounts of a capital nature being paid, the Club can direct itself to the payment of Member's loans, such as Fundation Members loans and Debentures. The Committee has also taken a number of initiatives, which were as follows:1.The preparation fo projected cash flow for the next six to twelve months, taking into account all anticipated expenditure and in particular, differentiating between items of current and capital expenditure. 2. Calling more periodic meetings with members to seek their views on matters involving the Club as they arise. 3. A closer working relationship with the Club's Trustees regarding the activities of the Club so that the Trustees may satisfy themselves that the position of the Debenture holders is not being prejudiced. A further matter which should be considered by the forthcoming Committee should in my view be the re-introduction of a finance committee to work with the Club's Committee regarding the planning of the Club's finances, with also, the introduction of a more professional mode of management at the Club. Finally, I take this opportunity of thanking my fellow Committee Members and especially the Club's Solicitor Mr. Laurie Sartori, for his assistence over the last twelve months and wish the new Committee well for the forthcoming twelve months. E' con piacere che presento la relazione di un altro anno sociale trascorso. completamento della Sala San Marco a stata probabilmente l'impresa di maggior rilievo che it Comitato abbia assunto nell'anno e tutte le congratulazioni devono essere fatte al "Building Subcommittee" per il suo lavoro. Nella presente depressione economica, che not tutti stiamo affrontando, la liquidity del Club e stata difficile da mantenere. Ma ora, dopo it pagamento di tutte le spese relative ai ,lavori, il Club pu6 dirigersi verso il pagamento dei prestiti ricevuti dai Soci, sia come fondatori che come titolari di obbligazioni. Il Comitato ha anche preso un certo numero di iniziative, che sono le seguenti: 1.La predisposizione di un preventivo di spesa anticipato da sei a dodici mesi che terra in conto tutte le spese necessarie ed in particolare separera quelle di corrente necessity da quel.le di capitalizzazione. 2. Convocare piu assemblee periodiche con i soci al fine di conoscere it loro punto di vista su risoluzioni riguardanti il Club ogni volta che sia necessario. 3.Una pill stretta collaborazione con gli Amministratori Fiduciari del Club riguardo alle attivita amministrative affinche gli stessi possano controllare che i creditori di Obbligazioni siano garantiti. Dal mio punto di vista, un'ulteriore decisione che dovrebbe essere presa in considerazione dal prossimo Comitato quella di reintrodurre un comitato per la finanza che lavori con il Comitato del Club per quanto concerne la planificazione delle risorse finanziarie, con lo scopo anche di instaurare una maniera piu professionale nella direzione del Club stesso. Ed in fine colgo questa opportunity per ringraziare i miei colleghi del Comitato, ed in particolar modo l'Avv. Laurie Sartori, per il loro aiuto durante gli ultimi 12 mesi, ed auguro al nuovo Comitato ogni bene per i prossimi dodici mesi venturi. Romano A. Piva (Segretario)

Anche quest'anno e ormai giunto al suo termine e percio e anche l'ora di tirar le somme e vedere quanto si e concluso per l'annata 1982-'83. L'attuale sotto-comitato tennis e stato da molti criticato per it suo operato, come forse mai prima, per() se vogliamo andare a guardare it tragitto percorso nei 12 mesi in carica, troveremo che la strada fatta non e stata delle piu facili e con tutto cio i traguardi felicemente raggiunti non sono pochi. Tutto questo e dovuto alla bravura dei membri del sotto-comitato che sono stati capaci di portare a termine imprese che a volte parevano irrealizzabili. Prima di tutto vorrei menzionare la piu importante, la quale e anche quella che sta pill a cuore all'attuale sottocomitato del tennis e a tutti i suoi membri: esserci assicurati la costruzione di due nuovi campi da tennis, da essere aggiunti ai quattro gia esistenti. I lavori sono gia iniziati e dovrebbero essere completati per la fine dell'anno corrente e cioe prima della prossima estate. Per far si che questo nostro sogno si avverasse, c'era bisogno d'una somma cospicua. Anche questo ostacolo e stato superato. Nel settembre u.s. le nostre brave tenniste hanno organizzato la 50ma. Night alla quale hanno partecipato oltre 400 persone; nel marzo u.s. la ROMA CARAVANS Men's Round Robin e Bar-B-Q ed in fine la piu recente, in maggio, la Rio Night con ancora una volta coinvolte le tenniste , ma con l'aiuto di un tennista: Bruno Morabito. Tutto questo e sempre stato fatto con it generoso apporto dei vari "sponsors". Il ricavato di questi riuscitissimi eventi andra a sovvenzionare parte delle spese di costruzione dei nuovi impianti tennistici. Speriamo che l'aggiunta di questi due nuovi campi sia sufficiente, almeno per it momento, a soddisfare le esigenze dei soci e permettere loro di poter esibirsi sul campo da gioco per pitl di un solo set, senza la necessity di dover cedere it posto ad un altro che aspetta it suo turno. Senza contare che quando ci sono tornei vari, campionati, competizioni, ecc., it piu delle volte c'e solo un campo disponibile per i "social players". Di nuovo, ci auguriamo che questi due nuovi campi risolvano questi problemi

e, quello che conta pill di qualsiasi altra cosa, che diano l'opportunita ai nostri giovani di usufruire al meglio di questi nuovi impianti e, chissa, forse un giorno potremo vedere fiorire un vero campione sui campi del Veneto Club. Un altro fiore da aggiungere all'occhiello di questo sotto-comitato, la visita al nostro sodalizio da parte della squadra di Tennis (insieme a quella di bocce) del Marconi Club di Sydney, avvenuta lo scorso gennaio. L'anno scorso i nostri giocatori sono rientrati a Melbourne dalla visita al Marconi Club tenendo stretto fra le mani ii trofeo "Marchesin". Purtroppo quest'anno abbiamo dovuto cederlo di nuovo al Club di Sydney, i cui giocatori si sono dimostrati pill forti di noi. Per6 la nostra squadra aveva un'attenuante plausibile: 1'assenza imprevista del nostro No.1, Mario Basso, it giocatore che i nostri avversari temevano di pill. Peccato perl'impegno e la premurasita messa in mostra dai veneti, giocatori e non giocatori, doveva essere premiata con la vittoria. Ed ora passiamo ad elogiare alcuni vincitori e per brevita mi limito a menzionare solo quelli del Club Championship e la conquista del "Shield" da parte dei boys under 17. Gli altri vincitori spero che mi perdoneranno, ma i loro risultati sono regolarmente pubblicati su "L'Eco del Veneto": passaggio del Trofeo "MARCHESIN" dalle mani del capitano del Veneto Social Club, Rino Mazzoccato, a quelle del capitano del Marconi di Sydney, Gennaio 1983

Ladies' double:Eva Bettiol-Tina Mantello battono Rosa Davies-Sophie Dal Castello 6-2, 6-0; Junior Boys: Richard Bandiera batte Adrian Pagnoccolo 6-1, 7-5; Junior Girls:Karen Dalla Riva batte Anita Pezzin 6-2, 6-4; President's Plate: Alan Billings batte Richard Grani 6-3, 6-4. Un elogio particolare vada alla squadra della Section 1, Boys under 17, capitanati da Carlo Cimino e con Richy Dalla Riva, Richard Bandiera, Anthony Launech, Angelo Polazzon e Domenic Lentini per aver vinto uno dei piu prestigiosi trofei, il "Shield" nel North-Eastern Junior Tennis Association, il quale, dopo diversi tentativi, sono riusciti finalmente a conquistare. Vorrei ricordare il continuo aumento di soci del Tennis e l'interesse dei Juniors e Seniors, maschili e femminili, a partecipare alle varie competizioni pur essendo impossibilitati dalla carenza dei campi da gioco nel nostro Club. L'aggiunta dei due nuovi campi
da Tennis e, per il momento, giustificata, e chissa che, continuando di questo passo, fra non molto ci troveremo al punto di partenza, e cioe ancora a corto di spazio da gioco. Concludendo, prego a tutti i membri del Tennis Club ad essere presenti Mercoledi 6 luglio 1983 nella nuova sala del mezzanino della Sala San Marco, alle 7.30 pm., per partecipare alle elezioni del nuovo sottocomitato per la sezione Tennis, anno 1983-'84. During the past yeAr Squash at our Club has progressed considerably as quite a number of Members are now playing Squash continuously everyweek. This is a very good sign for the future of Squash at our Club. Our Pennant Teams have completed the Autumn Season for 1983, and four teams have reached the finals. Two Teams are certain to play in the Grand Final. One Team consisting of M. Rech, B.Law, R.Dal Santo, M.Orlando, F.Di Mattina in "C Res.", the other team of R.Perta, D.Nicolazzo, B.Ferraro, A.Antigami in "F Res.3". The two Semi-Finalists are D.Dodorico, S.Tarascio, Poli, T.Gallichio,J.Maccioca, in "D 2". The other R.Polesel, L. Dal Santo, D.Sgargetta, J.Drago, B.Caneva, in "F 1". We wish the above teams all the very best. At this moment we are preparing for the next Spring Pennant Season of '83 which will commence in the lth week of August '83. Our Squash Committee welcomes all members wishing to play competition squash for our Club.
Once again we are preparing to hold the Clubs Annual Squash Tournament. All Club Members are invited to participate, this will be held during the Month of July '83. The Squash Committee wish to thanks Nubrik Industries for their donation of trophies for the Clubs Tournament for season '82. A special mention goes to our hard working Squash Committee. "Thank-You". SOCCER REPORT
As the 1982-'83 season comes to an end the soccer sub-committee can look back with great satisfaction at it's achievements. There are many people to whom I owe a great debt of thanks. Firstly I must thank my entire committee and the Ladies soccer sub-committee for their work and to particularly mention the co-operation that I see amongst all members in making sure that all team needs are understood and carried out. The soccer teams this year consist of Under 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 18, Reserves and Seniors. This year for the very first time the Under 10's have been included in the V. S.F. competition and we are all looking forward to their success as we do also with the other teams. The Under 18's have also been included for the first time - making up the 3 senior teams. They were specifically
registered to ensure that promising junior players were kept at the club, so that with with time and experience they would be placed into the Seniors and Reserves. The senior coach for this year is Fausto Tarquinio and his responsabilities include all three teams. He has appointed Marco Bernini as coach of the Under 18 squad. Fausto started with us last year as a player and then during the Coppa Italia competition he assumed the reins of senior coach. He has behind him many years of soccer experience, including being an Under 23 International player for Australia, having plyed most of his soccer career with Juventus. Promotion came to our senior sides into the 1st. Division, Provisional League, after finishing 2nd. in the 2nd. Division. We feel that this year also will be a most successful one with the promi-

se of upgrading at the end of the season. I would like to acknowledge the very hard work of all the coaches and team managers that was given to their individual teams. Without this dedicated group of men it would be impossible to field so many teams. There is no amount of monetary compensation that replaces this dedication and desire to work with our youth. I feel that I really must point out to you the very hard work that Maria Bianco puts into her junior squads. Maria is a person that gives all that she has into her responsabilities both as secretary of the juniors and as a member of our committee. Now I would like to write to you about the Coppa Italia. Last year we were very priveledged to have the Coppa Italia at the Veneto Club and I would like to thank the following people who because of their trust in the committee worked very hard in making' sure that we would have the opportunity of staging this competition at our Sede. Firstly, would like to mention the very reliable and diligent Piero Simeoni, who over the last 4 or 5 years has been our representative at the Coppa Italia meetings. After we were given permission by the Main Committee to applay for the Coppa, Piero along with John Dell'Aquila and Rino Tessarotto worked to make sure that the Coppa Italia Executive were aware that the Club was the ideal place for its competition. As we all know it was the most successful competition in its 7 year history - it generated sportsmanship and such goodwill. It made us very proud to see the Veneto spirit at its best in making our visitors very welcomed at our Club and I hope that we have this opportunity again in the not too distant future. There are no adequate words to thank the soccer committe and this includes the Ladies subcommittee, for their very hard work during the entire Coppa. There are also many people within the Club that were indespensable to us during this very busy time: Mr.Lino Bettiol, Mr.Sist, Mr.Mason, Mr.Agnoletti, Mr.Agostino Martini, the entire kitchen staff for their patience with us and of course there were many others, to numerous to mention. Soccer at the Veneto Club could not carry on without the help of the Main Social. Committee and we thank them sincerely for this and also the
continued help of our many sponsors, who even through these hard economic times are stading by us. These sponsors are the very core of our committment to soccer and we hope that they will stay with us for many years to come. In conclusion I would like to ask all members of the Veneto Club to come along to our games on all levels of competition so as to give us support. NETBALL REPORT Year 1982 closed with both teams reaching the finals. Firstly, our Senior team finished at fourth position putting in a lot of effort. Good on you girls. The first season for 1983 has ended with the seniors being in fifth position. The competition was stronger and higher this season. The girls have had great enthusiasm and co-operation; eventhough the competition was more difficult, their will to continue has proved they are trying very hard. These have been many setbacks and a come back of some players. We hope that this year the seniors will continue the good work and with their capabilities will achieve a higher standard in the forthcoming competitions. Secondly, our second senior team, whom in 1982 finished Runners-Up, putting on a great fight against the opposition. They played well throughout the season and seem to be building up a great team-manship. With their continuing determination a. grand final position will most likely be taken in the near future. I am sure they have the strength and experience to become a higher graded team. 1983 they are continuing to play on Saturday afternoons. At the moment their position is fifth with a possibility of reaching the top four on the ladder and with some hard work and will power to take off the grand final position. Good Luck. E' trascorso cosi un altro anno di moderata attivita nel campo sportivo del tiro al piattello. Fra gli eventi piu importanti e da menzionare l'incontro col Marconi Gun Club vincitore della penultima competizione, col margine di un solo punto in pill, e possessore cosi della coppa. campionato di ritorno ha avuto luogo al Melbourne Gun Club di Lilydale tempo addietro e la squadra del Veneto Club si e presentata in ottima forma riportando una vittoria schiacciante e riconquistando la coppa che ora e gelosamente custodita nei locali del nostro Club. I nostri tiratori impegnati contro i visitatori sono stati: Val Dal Santo (Pres.), Ernesto Bertollo, Benny Scotta, Giorgio Ferronato, e Mario Costa. Il risultato finale e stato di 98 piattelli su 100. Bravi ragazzi! Gli ospiti del Marconi Gun Club sono stati ricevuti con tutte le attenzioni e le premure dovute e siamo certi che avranno apprezzato la nostra ospitalita. Un altro avvenimento da mettere in rilievo 6 stato pure it nostro ballo annuale. Abbiamo visto in quest'ultima occasione la partecipazione di molte persone nuove e l'apprezzamento per la quanta del servizio e del trattenimento 6 stata unanime. Anche it presidente del Veneto Club, Sig.Gilberto Martini, ci ha rivolto parole di elogio sia per la buona riuscita del trattenimento che per la nostra attivita sportiva. Grazie Sig.Martini per le sue espressio- Q ni di riconoscimento. Noi del comitato "Shooters" ci adopereremo per organizzare ancora molte di queste serate. Giacche ci troviamo su questo argomento, vorrei cogliere l'opportunita per rivolgermi a tutti coloro che una volta erano attivi partecipanti di questo sport e fargli notare che, se i loro impegni di lavoro o la loro preferenza alla caccia libera gli fosse di impedimento all'attivita sportiva, ci sarebbe una cosa che comunque potrebbero fare: essere presenti almeno a questo nostro Annual Dinner Dance, che ricorre ogni anno it primo sabato di novembre. La loro partecipazione sarebbe per not un gesto apprezzabilissimo! Non mancherebbero certo glj argomenti di cui parlare. E'noto che i cacciatori sono sempre pieni di storielle riguardanti fucili, cani, quaglie, beccaccini
e piattelli senza contare le anitre che quest'anno si sono salvate per la mancaza di pioggia ma che le aspettiamo per il prossimo anno. Non mancherebbero certo i motivi per creare veramente una atmosfera ideale per gli appasionati di questo sport. Uno sport sano e ricreativo dopo i sacrifici del lavoro. Prima di chiudere questa mia relazione sento it dovere di fare atto di riconoscenza all'opera costruttiva del nostro presidente Val Dal Santo; al nostro vice presidente Ernesto Bertollo, sempre pronto ad offrire phi del necessario; al nostro segretario Ron Brida per la sua lunga permanenza in servizio al comitato "Shooters"; al nostro assistente segretario Elio Vivarelli, che con le sue capacita si rende utile in ogni settore del nostro fronte operativo. RELAZIONE DEL CORO
Con la chiusura dell'anno sociale 1982/'83 it nostro Coro festeggiera it prossimo luglio l'ottavo anniversario della sua fondazione. Anche quest'anno, come di consueto, abbiamo rappresentato it Veneto Club a diverse manifestazioni, fra le quali: la Festa della Repubblica Italiana al Villaggio Vaccari. Siamo stati presenti alla riunione dei Trevisani a Griffith N.S.W. per tre giorni e poi due giorni all'Internazional Festival di Mirtleford; abbiamo partecipato alla festa dei Bassanesi al nostro Club. Come ogni anno abbiamo partecipato alla grande serata della "Corale Tre Venezie" a La Trobe University. Come sempre siamo stati presenti al Festival Italiano delle Arti di Lygon Street. Abbiamo organizzato e partecipato allo Show in occasione dell'anniversario del Veneto Social Club con la partecipazione di ben conosciuti cantanti d'opera. Come ogni anno abbiamo cantato la S.Messa al Picnic del Veneto Social Club. Quest'anno abbiamo pure partecipato all'Lnternazional Festival di Doncaster e al Primo International Festival di Coburg. Siamo pure stati invitati a rappresentare it nostro Club all'Italo-Australian Club
di Dandenong. In occasione della visita di Sua Eccellenza it Vescovo di Treviso abbiamo cantato la Santa Messa nella Chiesa di Santa Brigida e nella stessa Chiesa abbiamo cantato la S.Messa in occasione del Centenario della stessa. Per i prossimi mesi siamo gia stati invitati a partecipare alla rivista italiana "Arcobaleno" alla Dallas Brooks Hall. Daremo pure un concerto al Camberwell Civic Centre assieme al Coro Germanico "Liedertafel Arion". Come si pu6 vedere da questa breve relazione l'attivita di quest'anno stata molto varia ed impegnativa e possiamo perci6 essere orgogliosi e soddisfatti del nostro contributo alla popolarita e al buon nome del nostro Club. Colgo l'occasione per ringraziare it nostro infaticabile maestro Nino Morandin e tutti i coristi per la loro buona volonta e dedizione al nostro gruppo. VENETO BASKETBALL CLUB
The Veneto Basketball Club consists of three teams which compete in the Bulleen-Templestowe Basketball Associations, week night competition at the Sheahans Rd. Stadium. The teams include: Womens "B Grade" Sunday; Mens "A Grade" Sunday; Mens "C Grade" Monday. The "C Grade" team are more commonly known as the "Old Boys". Yes, that's right, the young boys you used to see playing "keeping off" on the "old" basketball court near the "old shed" 10 years ago have returned! During the last year the basketball teams have had there ups and downs. This season has seen the return of 2 injured players: John Krober (an old boy from way back!) and Mark Flack (Mens'A'). Both had suffered severe knee injuries which prevented them from playing for over a year. Welvome back! The Mens "A Grade" are doing well as a result of good players such
as Robert Di Manno who came "runner up" in the Associations "best and fairest" award in both the Mens "A Grade" Sunday and Mens "C Grade" Monday competitions. At present the Mens "A Grade" team are in the top 4 and will be competing in the finals commencing in 2 weeks time. Similary the "Old Boys" have also done well this season. As a result of "(beer)guts and determination" they have made the finals which commence next week. The womens team were promoted from "C Grade" to "B Grade" this season. They have done well this year and have just missed out on a place in the final four due to a 2 point loss in the last game of the season. SOTTOCOMITATO DEI BILIARDI
It is my plesure and honor to deliver once again the annual Veneto Youth President's Report. It has to be recognised that during the past twelve months of my presidency, all of my Committee Members have always worked very hard with great enthusiasm. I am sure that all the youth that enjoys our functions all apreciate the work of my Committee. I would also personally like to thank the Committee for all the hard work that they have done to make these functions possible. The past 12 months has proven to be a financial success and also a social success. We were getting maximum crowds in our saturday night disco's continually. Our snow picnic had eight buses go to Mt.Buller and everyone had on enjoyable time. I am also very proud of our Mondo Rock Night we had during the year. Everyone that attended were very satisfied with .this night. I think it is very important that all parents should encourage their sons or daughters to become members of our youth group as it is a good way of meeting people and associating with other groups. The Youth Committee is always looking for people who which to join as there is always room for a hand to be given in our committee. After my long association with the Veneto Youth Committee, extending over the past eight years, I regret to announce that I will be resigning as President of the Youth Committee. I would like to wish the new President, and the Committee Members, taken as one united team every success. I trust that future Youth Committee will endeavour to uphold the high standard achieved 4 the present Committee. I would also mike to thank the main Committee for '.4,11 its support and help and I also like ;'to thank the manager forall his help. Like last year we held a single eight ball competition in September. In November we held a doubles eight ball competition. In November also we had a final match with the Italo-Australian Club of Dandenong for a singles and doubles perpetual trophy which belongs to us now. At the end we had supper with our friends from Dandenong. At the Sports Carnival we beat all the other clubs adjudicating ourselves another trophy. Yours faithfully A. FULVIO.
