Gentile Presidente, approfitto volentieri della pubblicazione della Relazione annuale del "Veneto Social Club" per far giungere a Lei e a tutti i Veneti di Melbourne it mio piu cordiale saluto. Quindici anni di proficua attivita e la realizzazione di una splendida sede sociale testimoniano della vitality di un SodaliziO che tanto efficacemente ha contribuito a mantenere uniti moralmente tanti Veneti nella salvaguardia delle tradizioni della loro Regione d'origine e nella via del progresso e di una affermazione sempre maggiore in questo Paese. PRESIDENTE E' trascorso anche questo mio primo anno di presidenza del nostro sodalizio e sono lieto di poter presentare una relazione ai soci, molto soddisfacente. Anche se dal resoconto finanziario le cifre non si presenteranno cosi incoraggianti, come alcuni anni fa, dobbiamo comunque rilevare the it Club e piu ricco se si considerano i progressi fatti nell'ampliamento e rinnovamento della sede. Sono state migliorate le attrezzature sportive ed it costo di iscrizione sociale non e ancora stato aumentato. I prezzi dei trattenimenti sono stati mantenuti a livelli minimi nonostante 1 'aumentato costo del lavoro dipendente e dei generi di consumo.

In totale it Club ha capitalizzato parte delle sue risorse liquide ed ha reso ai soci parte dell'usufrutto della sua ricchezza monetaria. Questa politica sembra sia stata di apprezzamento generale poiche abbiamo visto un crescente interesse nelle attivita sociali le quali, fra l'altro, si sono anche elevate in quailta ed eleganza. My first year as president of our Club has now passed and I am glad to give a very satisfactory report to the members. Even if, the figures of the financial year don't seem very encouraging, we must note that the Club is much wealthier if we consider the progress made in enlarging and improving the building. The sport equipment has been improved and the membership fee hasn't yet been increased. The cost for entertaining has been kept to a minimum inspite of the increased expenses for staff and goods. In all, the Club has capitalised part of its cash resources and has given back to its members part of the benefits of its monetary wealth. This management seems to have been welcomed with general appreciation, since we have witnessed a growing interest in social activities, which, after all, have gained in quality and elegance. Our entertainment have now reached the most costly halls in our city. We have enjoyed the participation of important personalities in

oggi raggiunto un livello paragonabile a diversi locali di lusso della metropoli. Abbiamo visto la partecipazione di nomi di primo piano del mondo dello spettacolo e sono venuti da noi anche vedette internazionali. Appena la sala San Marco entrera in funzione vedremo ancora un incremento nelle attivita sociali. Le attivita sportive hanno un successo sempre crescente e 1 'interesse e la partecipazione dei figli di tutti noi e piu che incoraggiante e ci rende orgogliosi della nostra opera. Ormai possiamo esser certi che quanto abbiamo costruito rimarra eredita apprezzata e memoria indelebile della nostra iniziativa. Rimane comunque da potenziare e sviluppare ancora un settore: quello riguardante le attivita culturali. Anche se it campo della cultura sembra di un interesse ristretto ad una minoranza, cid non toglie che sia di rilevante importanza per la giovane generazione. I nostri giovani per apprezzarci completamente debbono conoscerci e lo potranno fare solo se noi trasmetteremo loro quel bagaglio culturale che la nostra storia, la nostra lingua e la nostra arte e letteratura. Il fatto che essi siano cresciuti in un ambiente diverso non giustifica it nostro silenzio e lo dimostrano con la ricerca continua e crescente nei loro studi. La

Even if the cultural field seems to capture the interest of a minority, that doesn't mean that it isn't of great importance for the younger generation. In order for the young people to appreciate us completely they must learn to know us, and for this we need to transmit to them our cultural heritage which is our history, our language, our art and our literature. The fact that they have grown up in a different environment doesn't justify our silence, and their interest is seen in continuously growing search for our culture through their studies. Italian language and history is strongly demanded in the universities of Victoria and we could help our young further by providing them with specialized knowledge and material

Le attivita svolte dal laborioso gruppo delle "Ladies Auxiliary" assieme al gruppo dei volontari ed ora anche al nuovo gruppo delle signore del comitato bocciofilo, sono it nostro orgoglio, e ne dobbiamo essere riconoscenti per quanto ci hanno saputo dare. Da parte mia sono obbligato a tutti i collaboratori del comitato che mi hanno coadiuvato nello svolgimento delle mie mansioni e ringrazio tutti i membri dei vari sottocomitati, il manager e chiunque ha dato la sua collaborazione in qualsiasi maniera al nostro sodalizio.

The success of our periodical magazine "L'Eco del Veneto"shows the appreciation that people of other environments have for our culture.It would be advantageous to establish a committee of the Club members, which could concern itself with this issue. I am certain it would be successful as the committees of our other activities have been. Our Choir is already involved with the issue of our culture and its success shows that they are immensely appreciated, even if the other members of the Club may not all be able to sing. The activities carried out by the hard-working group of the "Ladies Auxiliary" together with the group volunteers and now also the new group formed by the Ladies bowling committee, are our pride and we ought to be grateful for all they have been able to give

us. I am grateful to all the committee members who have helped me in carring out my duties. I thank all the members of the various sub-committee, the manager, and all others who have helped and contributed in any way to our Club.

SECRETARY's REPORT

mio primo compito, come segretario, fu quello di ripristinare le trattative con it "Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works", al fine di ottenere del terreno in phi adiacente al nostro Club. Dopo nove mesi di costante impegno sembra che non saremo in grado di poter avere dell'altro terreno immediatamente adiacente al Club. Ci6 limitera la nostra espansione nelle attivita sportive e pertanto sara necessario ristrutturare l'attuale disposizione delle attrezzature al fine di utilizzare nel migliore dei modi lo spazio esistente. Ci6 sara fatto nel prossimo futuro. La manutenzione del Club stata curata con pill diliquest'anno genza e parsimonia e, come potrete constatare dal rapporto finanziario, non vi sono stati aumenti di spese in relazione all'anno precedente. Tale costo potrebbe anche essere diminuito se si riuscisse ad ovviare agli atti di noncuranza. L'ammonto dei danni arrecati alle attrezzature del Club ogni settimana sono sconcertanti: non riesco a credere che nessuno veda o si accorga di cosa semeseemememeemememeseemeemememozonsommennemosees. succede. My first task as secretary was to reopen negotiations with the "Melbourne & Metropolitan Board of Works" to obtain more land adjacent to the Club. After 9 Months of hard work it appears we will be unable to obtain any land near the Club. This will restrict expansion in sporting activities, therefore we need to re-design our existing area to ensure optimum usage. This will be done in the near future. Maintenance of the Club has been monitored closely this year, and as you can see from the Financial Report, there has been no increase over last year. The cost could be reduced if we could stop vandalism. The amount of damage done every week is staggering. I find it impossible to belive that no one sees or hears anything. I would like to point out that when we repair or replace items it is our money that is been used, so I ask you please take care of your Club. THE SECRETARY J. Dal Sasso.

It is with great pleasure that I am able to report to you on the successful year that the Ladies Auxiliary have had once again. This was the first time I have been associated with the Ladies Auxiliary and until then I was unaware of just how much time, effort, hard work and dedication is put in by the Ladies on voluntary basis and I must truly commend them all for their valuable contribution to the Club. The Ladies Auxiliary have once again this year worked for the "Vaccari Village" and will continue to do so in the future. Once more this year, the peek of our social activities was the Miss Veneto Quest. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the three participants Nadia Fogaro, Silvia Tomat and Cinzia Sella for making this event the success that it was. However, I hope that this coming year a greater number

of girls will be prepared to participate in this quest and whilst not only working for a worthy cause,be able to enjoy great rewards themselves. I would like to sincerely thank all the Ladies of the Auxiliary for all the help and support they have given during the past twelve months. Also a special thank-you to everyone who has helped us over the last year, in particular the voluntary helpers in the San Marco Hall on Sunday evenings. I feel confident that the Ladies Auxiliary with their continued hard work and being under the guidance of our President Mrs.G.Rigoni, will further more make valuable contributions, and I sincerely request all members to continue showing their appreciation by supporting our Functions.

Ho sempre svolto con dedizione le mansioni che mi sono state assegnate ma mi sento in pegno di riconoscenza per tutti coloro che hanno collaborato per rendere it mio compito meno difficile. Nel ringraziare tutti per la collaborazione ricevuta mi rivolgo particolarmente alle signore del Comitato Ausiliare Femminile, alle signore della sezione bocciofila e a tutti i soci del gruppo volontari che prestano la loro opera gratuitamente al bar delle bocce e che sono rappresentati dai capiturno Dino Stangherlin, Giorgio Benetti, Giovanni Moro e Dino Rigoni. Mi unisco inoltre alla voce dei comitati per ringraziare personalmente tutti gli "sponsors" delle nostre manifestazioni, sia sportive che sociali, sottolineando l'apprezzamento del loro apporto che e basilare per l'organizzazione delle nostre attivita. Voglio inoltre far notare it mio personale apprezzamento alla Federazione Bocciofila del. Victoria, per aver preferito la nostra sede per lo svolgimento dei campionati Australiani di Bocce. La nostra attivita bocciofila, connessa anche alle conseguenti feste sociali che da essa ne derivano, costituisce ancora una delle sezioni fra le pill attive del nostro Club e pertanto mi congratulo con i membri di questo comitato per la loro operosita ed iniziativa. La "Castagnata" ed it "Picnic Annuale" riscuotono sempre grande consenso, e cio credo che sia dovuto anche alla capacita e all'estro di quei volontari che si occupano ogni anno della relativa organizzazione. VENETO BASKETBALL CLUB Last season good result were achieved once again. The Mens 'A' Grade team reached the preliminary final,while the Mens 'C Grade' team finished fifth; the Womens 'B Grade' fourth and the Wommes 'C Grade' team seventh.The highlight of last season's performances was the Mens 'C Grade' team in a Monday night competition at Bulleen, better known as the "Veneto Old Boys" winning the Grand Final. This season the number of teams was reduced due to the loss of players through injury and lack of interest. We also lost our , oach. Teams currently competing one: Mens "A",on Sunday Womens "C" on Sunday and Mens "C" on Monday Night. Alla competitions at Bulleen.

Although there has been a marked increase in the standard of competition, the Mens "A" team are doing reasonably well, holding 6th position at present. The Womens "C" team are showing signs of improvement due to the dedication and persistance shown by the voluntary ccach Mark Flack. The "Old Boys" continue to try hard. The teams have settle and are looking for new members. L'anno 1981-82 si pu6 definire l'anno "d'Oro" delle bocciofile venete. Esse hanno superato ogni aspettativa vincendo tutte le gare Federali. Pertanto, a nome di tutto it Sotto-comitato porgo alle nostre bocciofile le piti sincere congratulazioni, Sara difficile ripetere questo primato? Con la classe ormai raggiunta e con la passione dimostrata possiamo confidare che it successo ci arridera ancora. Comunque it futuro ce lo dira. Ora e doveroso menzionare l'opera generosa ed instancabile di tutte le signore del nostro Sotto-comitato che hanno contribuito meritevolmente

alla felice riuscita di tutte le manifestazioni bocciofile e che si sono dimostrate ospiti capaci e gentili in occasione degli incontri amichevoli con le rappresentative degli altri Clubs. A loro vada il. nostro riconoscimento e la nostra sentita gratitudine. Mentre possiamo ritenerci soddisfatti di tutto 'andamento dell'anno sociale trascorso, ricordiamo con sincera riconoscenza tutti gli "Sponsors" e chiunque ha dato it suo aiuto durante le nostre competizioni. NETBALL REPORT

Although in a much higher competition than previous years, both teams are doing exceptionally well in their prospective grades. The two teams have been playing since February and are now into the second round of the season with the senior team, which plays in Section 1, in fifth place and the junior team,plays in Section 2, in seventh place. Both teams play in the Warringal/Watsonia Netball Competition. The higher competition is doing a lot of good to all the girls and they are enthusiastic about their chances for a finals win next season.

All the girls train together on Wednesday night and training is very successful. As we wish to increase the number of teams to represent the Club, any girl interested in playing natball may contact Cris Amadio on 842 7627 or Terri Maiorino on 459 4809 or just come along to our trainig session on any Wednesday night at 7.30 pm. in the car park of the Club. RELAZIONE TREASURERER'S

DEL TESORIERE

REPORT

The trading loss is a reflection of the policy throughout the year to provide the members with good service at the minimum cost possible. Many cost increases in food, liquor and wages have been absorbed and not filly passed on to the members. In addition there was a reduction in the number of functions during the year resulting in a drop in gross income of $ 37,000 approx. in that area and approx. $ 5,000 in bar trading. The overal gross margin fell from 35.4 % in 1981 to 31.2 % in 1982. Youth dances and function contributed net income of $ 36,314 and reflects a highly successful year of activities and the Ladies Auxiliary have again made a valued contribution to the Club. Payments of $ 141,000 on the sporting recreation centre and alterations to the San Marco hall together with repairs and maintenance totalling $ 24,000 have been met from Club resources and is the prime reason for the reduction by $ 67,000 in bank and term deposit accounts. The notes to the financial statements indicate that a further $ 90,000 has been committed to complete the San Marco hall alterations and this will be payable in the new financial year. It will be desirable to pass on cost increases by increasing sales revenue and/or membership fees. I wish to thank all of the members for their patronage over the year, and also the sub-committees and staff for their valued assistance. TREASURER M. Bonis

diminuito guadagno nella gestione del Club e dovuto alla l.inea di condotta mantenuta durante tutto l'anno al fine di dare ai soci sempreun miglior servizio a costi minimi. Infatti l'aumento del costo dei generi alimentari,degli alcolici e dei salari e stato assorbito dagli introiti senza essere imposto sui prezzi praticati ai soci. Inoltre c'e stata anche una diminuzione del numero dei trattenimenti durante l'anno che ha fatto registrare un calo di circa $ 37.000 degli introiti lordi e una sensibile riduzione di consumo al bar che ha registrato $ 5.000 in meno dell'anno precedente. Comunque it totale complessivo del guadagno e sceso dal 35,4 % del 1981 al 31,2 % di quest'anno. I trattenimenti ed i balli del comitato dei giovani ha portato al Club un guadagno netto di $ 36.314 e cio dimostra un grande successo delle loro attivita. Le "Ladies Auxiliary" ancora una volta hanno apportato la loro valida contribuzione. pagamento di $ 141.000 per it centro di ricreazione sportiva e per i rinnovi della sala San Marco insieme con le varie riparazioni e la manutenzione del Club che hanno raggiunto da sole it totale di $ 24.000,e stato fatto con i fondi del Club ed e questa la ragione prima della riduzione di $ 67.000 nei depositi bancari vincolati. Le minute del rapporâ€˘to finanziario indicano che un'ulteriore somma di $ 90.000 e stata predisposta per completare i rinnovi della sala San Marco, e sara pagata nel bilancio del nuovo anno finanziario. Sarebbe desiderabile recuperare le spese con il rialzo dei prezzi in relazione all'aumento dei costi o con 1 'aumento della quota d'iscrizione. Desidero ringraziare tutti i soci per it loro appoggio durante tutto l'anno, e cosi anche i sotto comitati e it personale per it loro prezioso aiuto. IL TESORIERE M. Bonis

AUDITORS REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF VENETO SOCIAL CLUB (A Company Limited by Guarantee)

TO THE MEMBERS: The Club has not provided for depreciation of buildings which are included in the Balance Sheet at cost of $ 982,286 refer Note 2. This is a departure from a Statement of Accounting Standards issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Society of Accountants. In our opinion depreciation should be charged to the Income and Expenditure Statement so as to absorb the cost of the buildings over their useful economic lives. The Club has not calculated the financial effect of this departure from the accounting standard and it is impracticable for us to estimate this. With this exception, in our opinion: a) the accompanying accounts, being the Balance Sheet and Income and Expendi-

ture Statement, which have been prepared under the historical cost convention stated in Note 1,are properly drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1961 and so as to give a true and fair view of: (i)the state of affairs of the Club at 30th April,1932 and of the profit of the Club for the year ended on that date, and (ii)the other matters required by Section 162 of that Act to be dealt with in the accounts: b) the accounting records and other records, and the registers required by that Act to be kept by the Club have been properly kept in accordance with the provisions of that Act. THE COMMITTEE's STATUTORY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30th. APRIL, 1982. The Committee of the Veneto Social Club submit herewith the Club's Balance Sheet as at 30th April, 1982 and Income and Expenditure Statament for the year ended on that date and report as follows: 1. The Net Surplus of the Club for the year amounted to $ 62,417.00. 2. The Committee took reasonable steps, before the Income and Expenditure Statement and Balance Sheet of the Club were made out, to ascertain that all known bad debts were written off and adequate provision was made for doubtful debts. 3. At the date of this report the Committee is not aware of any circumstances, which could render the amount written off for bad debts, or the amount of the provision for doubtful debts inadequate to any substantial extent. 4. At the date of this report the Committee is not aware of any circumstances which would render the values attributable to the current assets in the Club's Accounts misleading. 5.No charge on the assets of the Club has arisen since the end of the financial year to the date of this report to secure the liabilities of any other person.

6. No contingent liability has arisen since the end of the financial year to the date of this report. 7. No contingent liability or other liability has become enforceable or is likely to become enforceable within a period cf twelve months after the end of the financial year which, in the opinion of the Committee, will or may affect the ability of the Club to meet its obligations as and when they fall, due. 8. The results of the Club's operations during the financial year have not been substantially affected by any item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature. 9.Since 30th Apri1,1982 and to the date of this report, in the opinion of the Committee, no item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature which would affect substantially the results of the Club for the next succeeding financial year, has occurred. 10.Since the end of the previous financial year, no Committee Member has received or become entitled to receive a benefit not disclosed in the accounts, by reason of contract between the Club and the Committee Member. DAL DIRETTORE DEGLI SPORTS

CLAUDIO's Anche quest'anno siamo giunti al termine, e come sempre, tutte le nostre attivita sportive si sono distinte e hanno fatto un grande progresso in tutti i settori. Ancora una volta si deve al responsabile lavoro di ogni sottocomitato, ed all'affiatamento che esiste fra allenatori e atleti, it nostro successo. A questi ultimi si deve dare atto della loro tenacia e della loro volonta di vincere. I successi e le soddisfazioni non sono mancati in nessuna delle attivita sportive. In particolar modo ci siamo distinti nel Tennis, nel Basketball e nelle Bocce. In quest'ultima speciality i giovani atleti Fabio Favrin e Andrew Pozzer hanno vinto rispettivamente, it primo it Campionato Australiano di Singolo dei Junior ed entrambi, in coppia, it Campionato Junior di doppio. Nel Calcio quest'anno solo i Junior "Under 13" hanno vinto lo scudetto. Le altre squadre si sono comportate discretamente, ma la prima squadra Seniores, dopo essere stata al secondo posto in classifica per circa tre quarti del campionato, e finita al quinto posto. Le ragazze del Netball, sotto la guida di Terri Maiorino, hanno giocato con estrema tenacia e sono riuscite a piazzarsi seconde con un team e con altri due teams quarte nelle rispettive categorie. Nello Squash, sotto la direzione di D.Dodorico, abbiamo conquistato diversi gagliardetti; i ragazzi si sono dimostrati molto attaccati al Club partecipando numerosi allo Sport Presentation Night. Come direttore sportivo, ringrazio tutti i sottocomitati delle varie attivita per il loro fattivo operato, e tutti i genitori e simpatizzanti che hanno seguito con interesse le varie competizioni. Voglio aggiungere un ringraziamento particolare a tutti gli "Sponsors" e amici che in ogni occasione sono stati pronti ad aiutarmi. Un sincero ringraziamento a tutte le signore che lavorano nel. Kiosk e organizzano feste e barbeque per aiutare il Calcio e il Charity Quest.

Com'e consuetudine, ad ogni annata che si conclude corrisponde la relativa relazione sulle varie attivita della sezione. Si enumerano i successi ottenuti mettendo in rilievo i lati positivi, si ringraziano atleti ed organizzatori, ricordando che it tutto e stato realizzato in virtu delle attrezzature sociali e sportive messe a disposizione dal. Club. Ed e giusto sia cosi poiche infatti quanto di buono e stato ottenuto nel corso dell'anno e in rapporto to con la buona volonta di not tutti, sportivi, organizzatori e dirigenti. Ma una relazione non e completa, stavo per dire onesta, se priva di critica. Questo lato del rapporto non e di use comune ed it piu delle volte si lascia nel dimenticatoio in quanto rischia di non essere popolare. Nel nostro caso e pertanto indispensabile, poiche i tempi stringono: se un provvedimento non viene preso tempestivamente i frutti di cinque anni di lavoro rischiano di andare perduti, almeno parzialmente. Ci spieghiamo meglio. Cinque anni or sono nasceva la nostra sezione su iniziativa di un gruppo di pionieri, gente relativamente anziana ma piena di entusiasmo. Il Club rispondeva all'appello e 4 bellissimi campi venivano messi a disposizione degli sportivi, donne e qualche junior. Il Veneto Club cominciava cosi a far sentire la propria voce, poco pill di un vagito, sui terreni di Melbourne, cogliendo anche qualche affermazione.

Lentamente la sezione progrediva e nuovi proseliti si aggiungevano al nucleo iniziale, aumentando le frequenze sui campi e le vittorie. I papa e le mamme portavano i figlioli, di ogni eta, anche piccolissimi. Questi giovani, che altrimenti non avrebbero trovato molto interesse nel nostro Club, si davano da fare e piano piano matura-

vano nel tennis; oggi hanno raggiunto un livello tecnico ed una importanza numerica che pongono un problema immediato, un problema di spazio. Per coloro che non sono bene addentro in questo sport 6 necessario precisare che it tennis non 6 soltanto "sociale" ma 6 anche "competitivo". Anzi, diremo proprio che 6 tutto competitivo poiche anche gli anziani, quando scendono in campo, giocano per vincere. Lo spirito di emulazione 6 nella natura umana, senza questo stimolo tutto diverrebbe piatto e privo d'interesse. Questo discorso 6 particolarmente valido per i giovani, la cui aspirazione e misurarsi con squadre di altri clubs; ma per realizzare questo desiderio, dato l'incredibile aumento dei soci attivi, le attuali attrezzature tennistiche sono diventate insufficienti. Qualcuno potrebbe ribattere che, malgrado tutto, quattro campi dotati di illuminazione notturna rappresentano un buon complesso; altri aggiungeranno che non ci sono superfici disponibili per la costruzione di altri courts. Ai primi risponderemo che quest'anno si 6.dovuto rinunciare a qualche squadra di competizione proprio per mancanza di campi; ai secondi chiederemo soltanto di osservare con maggiore attenzione l'attuale disposizione degli impianti sportivi e ricreativi.

In questo momemnto it Veneto Club sta partecipando a diversi tornei tennistici con due squadre maschili di "pennant", due squadre maschili nel "catholic", quattro squadre femminili nel "Tuesday Competition", una squadra femminile nel "Thursday Competition", tre squadre "Boys" -ed una "Girls". Se si tien conto dell'intensa attivita sociale-sportiva di coloro che, per un motivo o per l'altro, non desiderano o non sono in grado di giocare in competizione, e della non meno intensa opera degli allenatori che hanno bisogno dei campi quasi tutti i giorni, 6 facile realizzare che 4 courts sono ormai nettamente insufficienti. Prima di chiudere questo capitolo vorremmo precisare che, in relazione a quanto detto inizialmente sul pericolo di perdere i frutti di 5 anni di lavoro,ci risulta che un certo numero di giocatori, in particolare giovani, sarebbero in procinto di allontanarsi dal Club alla ricerca di organizzazioni che permettano loro di partecipare alle gare di competizione. Una prospettiva poco incoraggiante. Ed ora veniamo al nostro rapporto annuale, chiedendo venia in anticipo per ogni eventuale imprecisione o dimenticanza; in fin dei conti tutti not del sottocomitato prestiamo la nostra opera volontaria con ore di lavoro che togliamo alle nostre rispettive attivita private e alle nostre famiglie. In campo maschile 3 nuovi gagliardetti si sono aggiunti ai numerosi altri gia in mostra nella saletta che it Club ha messo a disposizione del tennis. II primo e stato ottenuto nella "Victorian Catholic Association", Spring Tournment, Section 2, dalla squadra di Mario Basso(cap.), Mark Zannoni, Rino Mazzocato, Mario Longo e John Rizzo, che nella finalissima ha sconfitto it Benthley per 3 a 1. Il secondo e stato opera degli "Heavyweight", nella Section 5 del Summer Competition, con Robert Sartori(cap.), Richard Bandiera, Richard Grani, Tony Bortoli, Johnny Spagnolo, Jimmy Di Stefanis, Adrian Pagnoccolo ed Ernesto Rota. I primi quattro hanno vinto la finalissima battendo per 3 a 1 it Glenhuntley. Un elogio particolare per it giovanissimo Bardiera (14 anni), che e stato l'elemento decisivo.I1 terzo gagliardetto ci viene dalla Section 2 del Summer Competition con Rino Mazzocato(cap.), Mario Longo, Mark Zannoni, John Rizzo, Carl Cimino, Adrian D'Agnolo e Mark Cimino. Particolare interessante: questa vittoria e stata ottenuta battendo in finale un'altra squadra veneta, quella composta da Mario Basso, Anthony Terzo, Paul Launech, Maurice Rota, William Zugna ed it giovanissimo Anthony Launech, un elemento da seguire. Anche le "Ladies" si sono fatte onore, come sempre del resto.Delle quattro squadre partecipanti alla Spring Competition della "Heidelberg District Tennis Association", ben 3 hanno vinto it gagliardetto e la quarta e stata superata di un solo punto nella partita decisiva. Nella Section 6B le varie Ilaria Sussan(cap.), Sophie Dal Castello, Tina Bailey, Maria Scartozzi,Rose Davies, Luisa Scartozzi e Rosa Zolli hanno battuto in finale per 78 a 60 la squadra del Watsonia. Nella Section 6C Loretta Zanatta(cap.), Catin Pezzin, Margareth Rossato, Flores Milani, Jean Zugna e Marcia Del Santo hanno superato in finale per 74 a 55 le avversarie del Plenty. Nella Section 7C Elsie Cherubin(cap.), vanessa Cecchetto, Rosita Giusti, Rosa Bruni, Marisa Foretti, Enza Todaro e Rosalba Longo hanno superato di misura, 73 a 70, l'Eltham. La quarta squadra veneta, nella Section 7B, composta da Ann Todaro(cap.), Rina Polazzon, Lena Mastellotto, Margareth Pangrazio, Alma Zanatta, Norma Maloni, Sue Tibaldi e Zevi Di Stefanis, e stata veramente sfortunata poiche ha perso la Gran Finale per un solo game, 63 a 64. Anche dai Juniors ci viene una bella vittoria, la pill significativa, e due ottimi piazzamenti. Nella Section

3 della North Eastern Junior Tennis Ass., Summer Competition,la compagine di Peter Borg(cap.), Ricky Dalla Riva, Adrian Rigo, Stevens Dal Castello, Adrian Calleri, Maurice Bruni e Arrigo Ripamonte ha letteralmente sbaragliato it Bundoora vincendo un gagliardetto tanto piu importante in quanto conquistato dai giovanissimi: 15anni l'eta media. Meno fortunati i ragazzi della Section 1, con Carl. Cimino(cap.), A.Zannoni, Angelo Polazzon, Anthony Launech, Dominic Lentini, Richard Bandiera e Adrian Pagnoccolo, che si sono dovuti accontentare del terzo posto, ma in una categoria durissima e frequentata da racchette di prima qualita. Un altro terzo posto stato conquistato dalle "Girls" Section 10, con M.Franceshini(cap.), Tania Bassora, Roberta Zanta, L.Milani, N.Tontino e S.Buratto. Totale: 7 gagliardetti, 3 maschili, 3 femminili ed uno Boys. Oltre all'attivita esterna il tennis e stato fortemente impegnato nei round robins mensili femminili, nel campiorato annuale sociale, nei vari tornei notturni e nei round robins domenicali(uno al mese circa), che hanno sempre avuto grande successo di partecipazione. Senza parlare dell'incontro piu importante, che vede alle prese le rappresentative Venete equelle delllItalian Tennis Association per la disputa del "Trofeo Palermo". SOCCER REPORT

La Prima Squadra Seniores del BULLEEN VENETO SOCCER CLUB

It gives me immense pleasure to report you the year's activities and our achievement. Our senior players finished last year's tournament 5th on the ladder and this was partly due to some unfortunate events that befelled the players, such as injuries. But the players id give their best always and we all witnessed some magnificent play actions. The senior team also played in the Italian Cup and eventually won the Consolation Cup. At this point I would like to congratulate Lawrence Boarotto for winning the Best and Fairest for the Seniors and Paul Ostia for winning the Best and Fairest for the Reserves. Carlo Graser won the Best and Fairest in the 3rd Divisional League Competition. We would like to welcome also Mr.Tony Vrzina, coach of the Seniors, to the Bulleen Veneto Soccer Club. Mr.Vrzina comes to us as a most highly respected trainer and he has coached various State League teams in the past. The Juniors last season performed well with mixed results: Under 11 finished 5th; Under 12 finished 5th; Under 13a finished 1st; Under 13b finished 8th; Under 14 finished 2nd; Under 16 finished 2nd.

E'con molto piacere the presento it resoconto delle attivita del trascorso anno e dei traguardi da noi raggiunti nello sport del Calcio. La nostra prima squadra(Senior) ha finito it campionato dell'anno scorso classificandosi al V posto e tale posizione poteva forse essere migliore se alcuni sfortunati inconvenienti non ayessero limitato le nostre possibilita. Tuttavia i nostri giocatori hanno dato del loro meglio e ci hanno fatto assistere ad alcune partite veramente entusiasmanti. La nostra squadra senior ha anche partecipato alla "Italian Cup" vincendo it premio della Consolation Cup. Le mie congratulazioni sono rivolte particolarmente a Lawrence Boarotto per aver vinto it riconoscimento di "Best & Fairest" nella categoria dei seniores e a Paul Ostia per lo stesso riconoscimento vinto per le riserve. Inoltre Carlo Graser ha vinto it Best & Fairest nella III Divisional League Competition. Un caloroso benvehuto deve essere rivolto al Sig.Tony Vrzima, it nuovo allenatore della nostra squadra Seniores. Egli 6 venuto fra noi col suo forbito bagaglio di esperienze, avendo nel passato allenato diverse squadre della categoria "State League".

Of the four junior teams that played in the Italian Cup, the Under llb team won the Italian Cup for their section. We would like to congratulate all teams for their play and sportsmanship and to thank all team menagers, coaches and parents for their unselfish contribution to the Bulleen Veneto Soccer Club. Last year saw the formation of the Ladies Soccer Sub-committee and I am sure that every person that is connected with soccer has come to realise what a hard working group of ladies we have. The ladies, not only help with fund raising activities, but also give a lot of their spare time to the running of the tuckshop. We regret the resignation of two of our committeeman,Mr.Joe Robilotta and in particular that of Mr.Joe Barbieri, secretary of the juniors. We would like to thank him for his hard and diligent work. Our new secretary for the juniors is Mrs.Maria Bianco and i am sure that she will carry out the above office with great skill and tenacity. At this time I would like to thank every single member of the soccer subcommittees', who have worked so very hard and coscientiously in order to making this soccer club a most successful one. The responsibilities have been many and varied and all areas have been covered most efficiently. To our many sponsors and frieds of soccer our deepest thanks for your support and we hope that our association with each other will be long and happy. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr.Rino Tessarotto, Sports Manager, and the Veneto Social Committee for their continued support throughout the year. Junior: Under 13a.

Elenchiamo di seguito i vari risultati ottenuti dalle nostre squadre di giovani (Juniors): La Under 11 si e classificata V. La Under 12 si e classificata.V. La Under 13a si e classificata I. La Under 13b si e classificata VIII La Under 14 si e classificata II. La Under 16 si e classificata II. Delle quattro squadre junior che hanno partecipato alla Coppa Italia, quella degli Under llb ha vinto la coppa nella sua categoria. Congratulazioni, e un caloroso ringraziamento a tutti i ragazzi delle varie categorie che hanno giocato per i nostri colori. Grazie anche a tutti i sostenitori, tifosi e genitori che hanno dato la loro collaborazione al. Bulleen Veneto Soccer Club. L'anno appena trascorso ha vinto it costituirsi del sottocomitato formato dalle Signore, "Ladies Soccer Sub-committee" e chiunque ha seguito le attivita calcistiche del nostro Club si sari reso conto della validita e della collaborazione apportata da queste instancabili signore. Esse infatti, oltre ad occuparsi di promuovere varie attivita che portano aiuti finanziari al nostro Club, dedicano molto del loro tempo libero alla gestione del nostro "Tuck-Shop". Dobbiamo accettare nostro malgrado le dimissioni di due valide persone dal nostro comitato: Mr.Joe Robilotta e Mr.Joe Barbieri. Siamo spiacenti del loro distacco e in particolare di quello del. Sig.Barbieri che era it segretario delle squadre "junior". Il suo compito e stato assunto dalla Sig.ra Maria Bianco e siamo certi che ella assolvera l'incarico con la stessa diligenza e con l'entusiasmo che dimostra. A questo punto voglio ringraziare ogni membro del Soccer Sub-committee per l'apprezzatissimo lavoro svolto da ciascuno, tramite it quale abbiamo potuto raggiungere i1 nostro attuale successo. Di difficolta e responsabilita ce ne sono state diverse ma ciascuno si e dimostrato all'altezza del proprio compito. A tutti i nostri "sponsors" e simpatizzanti del calcio, grazie di cuore per averci aiutato e seguito per tutto l'anno, con la speranza che ciascuno ci segua ancora negli anni futuri. Anche quest'anno it Veneto Social Club si e fatto onore in tutte le gare di Federazione vincendone otto su nove disputate. Si pud quindi affermart di avere una rosa di giocatori fra i migliori di tutto it Victoria. Al nostro Club sono stati disputati i campionati Australiani interstatali di bocce e la rappresentanza del Victoria era coperta da ben tre dei nostri giocatori, uno dei quali, D. De Bortoli, in coppia con Chiumello, ha vinto per it nostro stato it Campionato Australiano di doppio. Quest'anno it nostro prestigio e ancora salito, e ben 5 dei nostri giocatori sono stati incaricati di far parte dei 6 rappresentanti del Victoria per i campionati Australiani. Inoltre dei tre bocciofili rappresentanti la squadra Australiana ai campionati mondiali svoltisi a Novara, due erano del nostro Club e ci6 dimostra che i migliori giocatori si trovano fra i nostri. Anche quest'anno abbiamo organizzato dei tornei interstatali con

i Club di Adelaide, Sydney e Griffith, nei quali i nostri bocciofili si sono comportati egregiamente. L'ultimo successo qui al Veneto Club l'abbiamo ottenuto con la famosa gara di doppio patrocinata dal.la ditta "Nubrik"; quest'anno infatti ci siamo classificati primi e secondi con le coppie A.Bolzanello-L.Chiumello e G.Favrin-M.Stangherlin. Un doveroso ringraziamento va a tutti i membri del sotto-comitato bocce per it lavoro da loro svolto nel campo organizzativo ed anche per la scrupolosa manutenzione dei campi da gioco. II comitato bocciofilo femminile va menzionato per la collaborazione data in occasione di tutte le manifestazioni sportive e sociali. Grazie alle nostre signore per il loro prezioso aiuto. VENETO YOUTH COMMITTEE Activities throughout the year

It is my pleasure and honor to deliver my first annual. Veneto Youth President's Report. Being my first year as President, I hope to have taken over the tremendous job that the preceding President had accomplished. I sincerely thank the past President and his committe for the great work they did last year, since it makes it so much easier for me and my committee to carry on from a well established and well organised group of people, as they were. In the last 12 months of my presidency, all of my Committee members have always co-operated and done their duties with great enthusiasm. I personally thank my committee for their expertise in organising the youth functions throughout the year. As you may immagine my task becomes much lighter when I have a hard working and cooperative committee behind me. The Committee members: Marina Macri,Sonya Velo,Eugene Brazzale, Robert Rossiani, Amanda Schieven, Pina Macri,Ranieri Bressanutti,Mark Bressanutti,Dana Vizintin,Robert Romanin. The past year has proven to be successful financially and socially for the youth of the Club. We have raised $ 25,500 throughout the year with our Saturday Rock Nights. Our Thursday Night Discos have also been fairly successful. We have once again provided the annual outdoor functions. The most popular of all was the snow picnic to Mt.Buller. I would like to remind all senior members of the Veneto Social Club of the necessity to ensure that their sons and daughters become members of the youth organisation. We exist, as the youth sector of the Veneto Social Club, for the benefit of all its members,therefore our ideas should be given their due support and involvement. I would like to thank our Liason officer for his great contribution to our committee. I can sincerely say that all of my committee members have appreciated Lou Basiacco's help and encouragement given to us throughout the year. I personally would like to thank with much appreciation the Veneto Social Club's committee for their help. Now that the end of the

year has come for my committee amimyself I wish the new committee every success for the following 12 months. I hope they work willing enjoyably and trust that they will endeavour to uphold the high standards achieved by the present committee. Louis Crema, Pres.Veneto Youth Comm.

FROM THE SQUASH COMMITTEE

Once again we have reached the end of the 1982 Autumn Squash season and of the six teams competing, 3 teams are certain to play off in the grand final. It seems that all teams had a wonderfull and exciting Autumn season. The previous Spring Pennant season saw our No.2 team comprising of Dallariva, Rob Esposito, Ron Dal Santo, Brendan Law, Tony Leguri win their grand final in 'C' grade; congratulations to these Players. A special mention must go to our spring club champion for 1981 "Nat Surace". Congratulations. Our next club tournament will be held at the end of June '82. All members are welcome to 'participate. Finally I would like to congratulate all squash players for their efforts of the past pennant season and look forward to their enthusiasm in the future. Camillo Bros. e nell'industria edile da oltre 29 anni, durante i quali I'azienda ha avuto modo di farsi apprezzare per i suoi lavori eseguiti scrupolosamente e con abilita. La ditta con la sua esperienza e competenza, acquisita in tutti questi anni, e oggi in grado di eseguire tutte le fasi del lavoro iniziando dal progetto sino al completamento dell'edificio.

RELAZIONE DEL SOTTOCOMITATO DEI BILIARDI

Comitato dei Biliardi

Nonostante la limitazione della nostra attrezzatura di gioco a soli due biliardi, la stagione e stata tuttavia discretamente attiva. Sono stati organizzati nell'ambito del Club i campionati per tre categorie: singolo, doppio e juniors. Una squadra di dieci giocatori si e cimentata nella competizione per la coppa dell'Italo-Australian Club e, nello Sport Carnival, siamo stati presenti con tre squadre di doppio. Un altro successo ci e derivato dall'organizzazione della "Friendship Cup", aperta anche a giocatori non soci del Club, ma, per la scarsita di attrezzature, siamo stati costretti a limitare it numero dei partecipanti.

Per concludere, bisogna riconoscere che, se avessimo potuto disporre di un ambiente piu adatto e almeno di un tavolo da biliardo in pi6, si avrebbe potuto fare meglio ed avere anche un risultato finanziario piu attivo. A. Fulvio, Sottocomitato Biliardi.

Con la chiusura dell'anno sociale 1981/ 1 82 it nostro Coro festeggiera it prossimo luglio, it settimo anniversario della sua fondazione. Anche quest'anno, come di consueto, abbiamo rappresentato il Veneto Club a diverse manifestazioni fra le qua]i ricordiamo particolarmente la festa della Repubblica Italiana al Villaggio Vaccari, e il Festival Italiano d'Australia a Carlton. Pensiamo per6 che la manifestazione pit/ importante sia stata it Concerto alla "La Trobe University", dove ci siamo esibiti davanti ad un pubblico cosi numeroso che, la pur capace sala "Union Hall", non era quasi in grado di contenere. Questo dimostra ancora una volta la validita di queste manifestazioni che attirano sempre di pill gli appassionati dei bei canti tradizionali della nostra gente.
