President's Report Dear Members, It is with great pleasure that I address you once again

during my second term in office. I would like to assure you that the Board of Directors and our advisors will make, and take every necessary step to comply with the requirements and legislations that are now so vital to managing a Club such as this one. As I promised, there were changes to be made, and we are doing so. With the return of the Manager, I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming back Giuseppe Biancotto, a person with experience in this field having been manager of the Veneto Club previously. "Good Luck Bepi! !". I would like to extend my very special thanks to each member of my committee for a job well done! Our various departments, Anthony Canil and his team in gaming, for continuing to look for new ideas to keep up the efforts for success. Daniel Morton and his team in the sports Centre/Gymnasium for your continuous hard work to give our members the service they deserve. To Tony Squillacioti and his team in administration, Bundy our Chef and his staff go my thanks, and to Mario Bonis, our board advisor and "Father" to us all, thanks "Vecio". A special thanks to all the Ladies Auxiliary led by Paola Peruzzo for their efforts, and especially for not backing down and for constantly trying again and again. A very big thank you also to the Finance Committee, Associations of the Veneto Region, the club's voluntary Advisor, and last but not least to our little army of voluntary workers that so generously give their time whenever needed. In conclusion, a big thank you to all our members, their family and friends , and I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy festive season and look forward to a prosperous New Year.

AMESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

Having served many years as a Committee member of our Club, I decided to run for Vice President. I was quietly confident of securing the support of the members for my candidacy. , However, I did not expect to be elected to my position by a good majority of the voting members. I am surprised and humbled by your support and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who voted for me. I would also like to assure those who were uncertain about voting for me that I have the best interest of the Club and its members at heart, and will endeavour to enhance our Club's prosperity. I wish to extend my most sincere wishes to all members and friends of the Club and their respective families, a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

Giancarlo Bassora Senior Vice President

SECRETARY'S REPORT RELAZIONE DEL SEGRETARIO CHRISTMAS 2002 - The months have flown and another year is almost over! !

I am very grateful to have this opportunity of entering your homes via "L'Eco del Veneto" for a friendly chat. Firstly, I would like to stress that this is not a report. I wish to simply kindly ask the members to reflect on my end of year report (June 2002), and seriously consider nominating for the position of Secretary. I'm sure that there are many of you who have the time and ability to take on this challenge, so please, do give this matter your most serious consideration.

To all our Sub committees, Ladies Auxiliary, voluntary workers, members of staff, Associations ~ of the Veneto Region, Senior Citizens, Finance Committee and the club's honorary Voluntary Consultant go my special thanks for a wonderful team effort. You are certainly the backbone of our club. To our loyal Members, their Family and Friends of the Veneto Club I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a safe 2003.

My biggest challenge during these past six months was to stem the flow of expenditure in all areas of the club. Obviously, six months is a very short time to achieve any major success, but we are well on the way to doipg so. Negotiations with Electricity, Gas, Council Rates, Yarra Valley Water, Telstra, Waste Disposal, and several other areas have brought about wonderful results. The Catering, of which I am Liaison Officer, is also undergoing restructure, and I am confident that with the cooperation of all department Managers we will also be able to reduce costs in that area. I would like to thank the President and committee for a wonderful team effort during these past months, as well as all members of staff. I extend to all the members my very best wishes for a very happy Festive Season, and safe and prosperous 2003.

Fury Bortolotto

Fury Bortolotto Treasurer.

"Ladies Auxiliary" Over the last nine months the new Ladies Auxiliary Committee have been working very hard to not only maintain the old traditions, but also trying some new events like our' Fund-raising Lunch for the Missionaries in Kenya which, thanks to our Sponsors' generosity, help from our Volunteers and the support of all who attended, was a great success. On Saturday 6th October a group of 55 people came along to our "Evening at the Opera" which began with Cocktails at the Club, then a chartered bus trip to the Athenaeum Theatre for a performance of "Tosca" by the Melbourne City Opera, and our most recent effort, a "Family Sports & Games Night". Young and old participated in novelty races, indoor games etc. and although the attendance was quite small - those who came along had a great time. There is more to come so keep a look-out for our "Masquerade Ball" for Camevale in February 2003, our next Fund-raiser for the Leukemia Foundation some time next year, and of course our usual events

over Christmas, Easter and Mothers' Day. We hope to see all our old friends as well as many new ones. By the way, we are always looking for new members so if you can support us, or have fresh ideas to keep the Ladies Auxiliary a growing, vibrant and active organization please come along and join us - you will be most welcome. In closing, thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary Committee for their help during the year, the Volunteer Ladies on Sunday Nights in Sala San Marco - their efforts are very much appreciated, the President Mr. Giancarlo Peruzzo and the Committee for their support, and our Liaison Officer Ms Ketti Pezzin for her valuable assistance and guidance. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year

From Daniel Morton

Dear Members I am pleased to be given the opportunity to let you all know how very busy the gym has been this year. At the time of writing this article, gym membership was up 23 % as at the same time last year. In fact, as a result of the substantial increase of memberships, extensions have been planned to cater for new members.

Gym Manager

An increase in advertising has also helped to give the gym the extra business, but many thanks must also go to our many loyal gym members. These members rejoin year after year, forming a solid membership base for us to build upon. Thank you to all the regulars, your friendship and loyalty is much appreciated.

Basketball bookings are also on the increase, so that our schedule is now quite full from mid-afternoon through to the evening. In order to encourage morning bookings, we have commenced school activity programs, working in liaison with the Catering Manager and the Bocce. I am looking forward to introducing more schools visiting our Centre, as we become known as a facility that can support a wide range of community sporting activities. Our congratulations are extended to our gym member, Malou Villareal, who recently competed in the 2002 Australian Natural Physique title "Sports Model Category", she was awarded first prize. Malou has now qualified to compete in the "World Natural Physique Titles" to be held in Phoenix Arizona. Malou regularly trains at the Gym and is an inspiration to all women looking to achieve their fitness goals and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I also feel to need to mention the support I have received this year from my Committee Liaison Representative, Ms Tiziana Premoselli. Tiziana has helped to fast track some important gym requirements, while providing quality advice and motivation on the way. As we near the end of our most successful year to date, Veneto Club Members can look forward to a New Year where our Gym and Sports Centre continues to progress bigger, more diverse and busier than ever! To all our Members and their families, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. Thank you again to you all for your ongoing support. Malou Villareal as Mentioned in Gym article.

Gaming Manager Report

Dear¡Members Greetings to you all . Well once again Christmas is fast approaching, the year is coming to an end and it would be fair to say that the financial year 2002-03 is well underway. Managing the club's Gaming Room this financial year commenced in a very difficult manner, with new regulations in relation to Responsible Gaming being put forward by the "Bracks Government". We have recently seen changes in Lighting RegulaJions as well as Smoking Bans in gaming venues throughout Victoria. Initially, speculation of how this was going to effect Hotel's and Club's throughout the state remained indifferent. Through Network talks with Tattersalls losses were expected to be in the vicinity of 20 to 40 %. I am pleased to report that our Club has complied with the new legislations put forward and the manifestation in terms of losses has been minimal. Recent 6 month financial reports show a slight improvement financially in the Clubs Gaming area which is great news for the club. For all the smokers, discussions with the club's Committee arid Management, have led to the realisation for a need to accommodate members affected by the new laws. Included in the current

Rialto Bar renovations will be a new comfortable smoking room for members, gaming members and visitors to enjoy. To all members of the club, I stress however that the need for your continued support, dedication and commitment throughout the second half of this financial year and in the future is vital for the clubs success making our club a better one for all to enjoy. On a lighter note, I am pleased to announce that throughout this financial year we have continued to provide members with creative promotions, members special offers and great service in the gaming room. Recently we have had machine upgrades within our venue with the ever so popular "Mr Cashman" deployed at our venue and the introduction of more 2 cent machines. I look forward to seeing all members in the month of December, leading on to Christmas and the end of Year 2002, and from all Gaming Staff and Management we wish you a very Merry Christmas and prosperous and Happy New Year in 2003. Regards Anthony Canil Gaming Manager

Bulleen Zebras Soccer Club An interesting year to say the least with so much happening on and off the park. The 2002 season was rather disappointing as far as results go for our senior team. We had a lot of close games that unfortunately did not go our way. On a brighter side, our Under 21 team did very well for the 2002 season. We should be very proud that so many of our young players have come through our junior and youth ranks: e.g. Joseph Damiano, Berkan Sakaci, Nathan Thomas, Ryan Ollerton, Joe Di Orio, Marino Gasparis and Paul Sachinidis. The crowd attendance was lower than in previous years but we hope to encourage more supporters back to the Club in the coming season. Mr Harry Chalkitis has been appointed Senior Coach for season 2003 along with his assistant Mr. Jim Kalambokis and Under 21 coach Mr. Sergio Sabbadini. We wish them well for the season.

Well done to our all players, both Senior and Under 21 for their efforts in the 2002 season, in particular the second half of the year. Also congratulations to the award winners. Seniors Best and Fairest Runner up Top goal scorer Reserves Best and Fairest Top goal scorer

Because of space restrictions I cannot publish all the photos of all the events of the championship. Also some of the photos did not develop very clearly therefore some winners have missed out. JUNIORS The activities of our juniors are very well promoted and organised by Elena McCrone. She runs 9 teams for Saturday morning competition. This a very demanding task to be on court every Saturday at 7.30 am to get things ready and running. She is doing a splendid job, also she liaises with our coaches who are doing good work in helping with the preparation of junior players to fill all the nine teams. Indeed, 75% of the junior players come from the coaches and are members of the club. I take this opportunity to thank all members of the present Tennis Sub Committee and look forward for us to continue the good work until June 2003, the date of the next Annual General meeting

" in the country" abbia un gran successo.
