Relazione del Presidente Cari Soci, Innanzi tutto il mio sincero ringraziamento per avenni dimostrato la vostra fiducia nell'eleggermi aHa carica di presidente del nostro Club. 10 rispondero alIa vostra fiducia adoperandomi nell'interesse del club stesso e facendo, come e stato sempre fatto nel passato, tutto il possibile affinche il Club possa progredire nel futuro. Certamente non occorre che mi presenti ai soci inquanto sono ormai da molti anni nel Comitato del Club con varie mansioni e, per gli ultimi dieci anni come vice presidente. Ognuno ormai mi conosce ed ha di me la stima che mi sono meritato. Nella mia nuova posizione direttiva devo ora occuparmi di tutti i sottocomitati che operano nell'ambito del nostro sodalizio. Lo faro con grande entusiasmo e con piacere, e pertanto, fin d'ora, invito tutti gli appartenenti a questi comitati di consultarmi per Ie loro iniziative per quanta concerne cio che il comitato direttivo possa fare per agevolarli. Ringrazio di cuore il presidente uscente, Cay. Agostino Martini, per tutto quello che ha fatto per il Club nei suoi dieci anni di presidenza e gli auguro ancora una lunga appartenenza al nostro sodalizio con la stima e l'amicizia di tutti i soci. Ringrazio altresi il comitato uscente per il suo operato e invito il nuovo alIa completa cooperazione neH'interesse del Club. President's Report Dear members, First of all I would like to thank you all for showing your faith in electing me as president of our Club. I will respond by working for the best interests of the Club, as has always been done in the past and by doing everything possible so the Club may progress in the future. It is certainly unnecessary for me to introduce myself because I have been a member of the Club COJ?IIlittee for a number of years, undertaking various dutIes and, for the last ten years, I have been Vice President. Everyone knows me and has the high regard for me which I have earned. As President, I must now occupy myself with all the sub-committees that operate within our Club. This I will do with great delight and enthusiasm and, as of now, I invite all the members of these committees to consult me about their initiatives to see what the Committee can do to help. I warmly thank the outgoing president, Cay. Agostino Martini, for all that he has done for the Club during ten years as president. I would like to also thank the outgoing committee for their work and I invite the new committee to (continue next page)

cooperate in every way in the Club's interests. The new committee does not include Davide Barbieri and Angelo Bolzonello, whom I thank for their assistance in the past. Our Ladies Auxiliary, which always play an active role in the Club receives our affection and respect and we must thank them for all the work they do. Our sincere thanks to Cav. Olympic Soccer Training at the Veneto Club. \ The Veneto Club received unprecedented publicity recently when we played host to overseas countries as a training venue for Olympic Games Football (Soccer). We received exposure both in the newspapers and on television in Melbourne during this time and also overseas. When the Italian team visited our Club there was great excitement and the italians were all very impressed with our facilities and the hospitality shown to them. Our youth soccer team had a wonderful experience when a game was organized for them to play against the Italians. Unfortunately due to tight security measures SOCOG only allocated 200 tickets for spectators to watch this match and for those of you who were disappointed at not being able to attend, my apologies but the matter was out of my hands. I would especially like to thank all the volunteers who assisted during this training period. The Italians were at our premises for a total of four days and during this time were very cooperative and signed many autographs. The Italian Consul General Dr Gianni Bardini and the Italian Community formally welcomed the players, officials and coach Marco Tardelli at a function held for them at our Club. Incidentally, since his return to Italy Marco Tardelli has taken on the role of coach of Inter Milan.

As well as the Italians we had teams from America, Morocco and Brazil and these countries were also very impressed with our Club. The Americans not only used our soccer field for their training but were also delighted at the opportunity of playing Bocce on our courts. The Olympic Games are a once in a life time opportunity and we should all be extremely proud to have been involved with this event and the publicity and exposure our Club received was truly rewarding. The gymnasium and basketball at the Club is progressing well especially now that the Boomers have commenced competition again and we ask you to come and support them and we wish them well for this season. The volleyball team (Falcons) have also commenced competition play and our best wishes for this season are also extended to them.

Prior to the Paralympic Games commencing we played host to the Canadian Team who trained at our Club and what an inspiration they were to us. Bulleen Zebra~ ~occer An interesting year to say the least with so much happening on and off the park.. The year may have ended better for the senior team had the final series been in place. Nevertheless, both senior and reserves squads had a rewarding year finishing in the top four of the leagues. Some encouraging signs for the future success of our club was the transition of a number of our young players to senior level. We should be very proud that so many of our young players who have come through our junior ranks; e.g. Mareo Bresciano, Robert Liparoti, Michael Curcija, Con Blatsis etc. Congratulations to Joseph Damiano on his transfer to Werder Bremen as he joins the list of other Bulleen junior players currently playing at elite level. Crowd attendance was lower than in previous years but we hope to encourage more supporters back to the club in the commg season. Joe Mullen has been re-appointed for season 2001, along with his assistant Sean Keogh and reserve coach John Romano. We wish them well for next year.

Bocce News The Veneto Club wishes to congratulate those members of the Veneto Club bocce community who received the prestigious Australian Sports Medal Year 2000 Achievement Award, awarded by the Governor General, in recognition for their services and involvement in the sport of bocce. The highlight of the National Bocce calendar this year was the National Titles at the Veneto Club in June. With the Club's support, together with the Bocce Federation of Victoria, we were able to produce a very successful tournament Congratulations to Veneto player Silvio Gatto on winning the Bowl/Throw (Punto/Tiro) Title and Victorian player Dino Mikolic for winning the Singles (Singolo) and the Progressive Throw (Tiro Progressivo). Victoria also won the Champion State Title. Barbara Jones Queensland won the Women's Bowl/Throw (Punto/Tiro) Title, and was part of the winning Doubles and Triples Titles Barbara took out the well deserved Best and Fairest award. The Veneto Club was host to a three day conference in November 2000, organised by the Bocce Federation of Australia in association with the Australian Sports Commission - Active Australia Division for the benefit of clubs from round Australia with the title, Active Australia Participation. Twenty five club representatives dealt with how to get effective sponsorship. introduction of new bocce games to attract players and how to generate more dollars for their clubs through corporate, school and community involvement. We look forward to our Veneto players featuring in the top placings of the inaugural Bocce Federation of Australia Progressive (Progressivo)and Precision (Precisione) Throw (Tiro di..)League Table. Those wishing to improve their skills in these games will get the opportunity to participate in training camps conducted by the Bocce Federation of Australia and featuring top French coaches, Lacoste and Peronnet together with the world Progressive Throw Australian National Bocce Championship - Veneto Club - June, 2000. World Senior Championship in Slovenia in September.
Champion, Sebastian Grail. Camps will be conducted for elite players, novices/juniors and coaches. Another 2001 highlight event to be organised by the Bocce Federation of Australia in Melbourne will be an international bocce tournament, Australia versus Slovenia in early February 2001. The details for this men and womens' event are being worked finalised at the moment. The planning for our national titles will see the 2001 "Junior and Under 35's Championships in South Australia in April. The Senior Men's and Women's National Championship will be held in Western Australia on the 1-4 June 2001 . International events this year started with the Women's World Championship in France in July, in which Barbara Jones from Australia participated. Then a dramatic decision at the last minute to hold the world junior and under 23 championship, in flood ravaged Aosta, Italy was seen to demonstrate the renewal of the region. Next year the same event is scheduled for July at a country yet to be announc~d. The other two international events are in 2001. The World Games in Japan in August 2001 and the
Bocce in Australia is at the cross roads. After consulting widely the Bocce Federation of Australia has put a plan before the States for a restructure to ensure that the sport of bocce, a sport which was at the root of most of our Clubs will continue to grow and more importantly, prosper together into the 21st century. The sport of Bocce has supported the Olympics. The Bocce Federation of Australia built a bocce court at the Olympic Village for the benefit of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes and officials. The Bocce Federation of Australia's National Development Director, John Inglese, organised and directed the volunteer staff who demonstrated to the many international athletes who tried out our sport. It was a great success! Congratulation too, to our Emilio Colla and his assistants, for being the BFA's ambassador in developing bocce in the Melbourne City Square, More to come on this item! Veneto Bocce Report . \
The 2000-2001 season of Bocce has started and we wish all the best for the Veneto players for the rest of the season. I am sure that their competitive spirit will see thelIl succeed. In the next few years, the persons that have a passion for the game will need to step and offer their time to the sport not only for themselves and their friends but also for the future of Bocce. In June 2000 the Australian Championship returned to the Veneto Club once again and the two regulars of this arena Silvio Gatto and Emilio Colla represented the Veneto Club. Silvio showed all in attendance his skill in the "tiro-punto" taking the title in this event. Emilio on the other hand was used as a reserve to the in form team of Dino Mickolic and Tony Palermo. Congratulations to Renzo Bordin, E.Colla, A.Giacomin and G. Michiletto for a super season in their respective categories. We all
hope the coming season will be as fruitful and enjoyable. Numbers of federation players are down on last year even with the inclusion of a few new players. This is a clear sign that if we all as Bocce players do not promote and encourage new players to participate the sport will struggle to prosper. We need all our players to promote the sport to
their family and friends. We welcome Anthony Parlato, one of Australia's finest Bocce player to the Veneto Club. We hope he finds his time in Victoria challenging and rewarding and the Veneto Club a place he can call home. The Wednesday Members Night' competition is still going strong and is keeping the Bocce players at the club. It is an ideal competition for new players to start playing the game. I sometimes wonder, what it would be like if everyone that had played in the competition turned up. This reminds me that at times we can get so involved in the game that we tend to discourage players with our attitude and forget that Bocce is a social game and one to be enjoyed. Our Annual Dinner Dance held in May was a huge success with over 260 attendees all enjoying a great night's entertainment. At the end of each season the men all love to play the Brutti & Belli. The winter weather called for special resources and with special thanks to Romeo Crema and Fury Bortolotto the atmosphere of an open fire with vin brule made sure this winter's tournament was something that would bring out the best in our playing. The Belli was won by Phillip McCrone and Raymond Barro defeating old rivals Romeo Crema and Frank Maiorino and the Brutti saw the father and son team of Angelo and Adrian Di Iorio victorious over Val Di Felice and John Zanonni in an all engrossing final. The final night was capped off with the fine BBQing talents of Alma & Armando Zannata and their reliable team of helpers.

Our 2000 Club Championships were held in October and the participation rate was up on the previous year. The weather was kind to us this year which meant the tournament was run to schedule without too many hic-ups. Some great tennis was for viewing and it was encouraging to see so many of our junior members participating in events. Congratulations to our reigning champions Thomas Clune and Elena McCrone, to all winners (refer honour borad) and equally to all those who participated.

This is very disappointing as this is the forum where members should express their comments concerning The current Spring 2000 season the running of Veneto Club Tennis. YOUNG ADULTS' SOCIAL COMMITTEE The 'Young Adults' Social Committee', as we have been called for a number years now, and 'oh yes' we still receive the odd remark "don't these young adults ever age?" Our response is obviously 'yes' and we can assure you that on many occasions we have had some great brainstorming sessions on what we should rename the Committee resolution has always been why should we change when so many of our past and present youth club members, who many still frequent the Club from time-to-time, still refer to us as the 'Young Adults' Social Committee' and hence, we have retained the name. Our Committee meets approximately every month at the Veneto Club and discussions of various types are conducted, some of which come to fruition and some placed in the "too hard basket" .

Our monthly 'get-togethers' are always conducted in a professional manner, maintaining a respectful bond and understanding amongst ourselves. Our aim is to try and introduce our past youth club members, families and friends to utilise the various facilities which the Club has to offer, whether it be a meal in the Bistro, a game of tennis or just calling in for a cup of coffee and catching up with some old friends. Club Champion .. Mario Siliato The Club Championship was held in July and saw Mario Siliato return to the winner's stand after an eleven years absence. The win was Mario's fifth victory and he narrowly defeated Michael Sikos in five hard fought games. Mario's previous wins were in 1984, '86, '87 and '89. Congratulations Mario on a great record and congratulations Michael on a fine performance in the final. The 'B' Grade Championship was won by Ollie Guglielmi who defeated Nat Surace in the final. This was Ollie's first championship win, although he has previously twice won the handicap trophy. The handicap event provided a consolation for Michael Sikos when he defeated Keith Pretorius by just a single point after the 20 minutes final. Spring Pennant As we go to press, the V.S.R.A. Spring Pennant is nearing completion. Just 2 matches remain before the finals. The Club's No.4 team, captained by Sam Magnano, competing in 'D' Grade, is assured of a finals berth. The team is currently in second position but hopefully, with the return of Nat Surace from injury, it can regain top position for the finals. In the 8 team competitions only three playoff for the Pennant. At this stage three of the Club's teams are sitting in fourth position. These teams are: B-3 Grade captained by Marc Odorio; C-3 Grade captained by Anthony Carucci; D-2 Grade captained by Robert Dicinto. All three teams are confident of gaining that vital third position and a semi-final berth
New Players Welcome As the spring season draws to a close, the Club is looking to the 2001 Autumn Pennant which commences in early February. The Club would welcome new players at any standard. All can be fitted into a pennant team. The Club Circuit Pennant Squash is most rewarding and enjoyable both from a squash aspect and the social environment. Comunita Montana dei 7 Comuni In seguito aIle grandissime feste dell'inizio delI'anno 2000, i soci della Comunita Montana dei 7 Comuni non hanno mancato di continuare Ie feste tra di loro. AlI'Assemblea Generale nel mese di giugno, il Comitato ha dovuto dire arrivederci al Signor Vince Ora, un membra molto apprezzato del Comitato da molti anni. Allo stesso tempo abbiamo dato il benvenuto alIa Signora Giorgia Rizzato ed al Signor Walter Rebeschini. . II nuovo Comitato si e dato sub ito da fare nell'organizzare il nostro ormai solito pomeriggio di Brule e soppressa al quale hanno partecipato circa 120 persone tra soci ed amici. Questa festa e stata seguita dal nostro Ballo Annuale alla fine di agosto. Tutti hanno goduto la musica, i balli e l'ottima compagnia. Con l'avvenire della primavera a Melbourne, i golfisti si alzano ed escono con pill piacere e presto un gruppo dei nostri soci fara un bellissimo viaggio in Adelaide, con gite, cene e tempo di rilassarsi per tutti i viaggiatori. Presto sara di nuovo Natale, tempo di famiglie e feste. VERONESI nel MONDO Melbourne Il Giubileo esercita un forte richiamo su tutti colora che sentono il fascino di Roma cristiana e in genere dell'ltalia, con il suo immenso patrimonio artistico e culturale. Da Melbourne, dalla lontana Australia, e partito un gruppo d.i 35 persone, organizzato da Renzo Zanella, veronese «de soca» sotto l'egida dell'Associazione Veronesi nel Mondo e con il supporto della Regione Veneto, che ha mostrato la piena disponibilita ad agevolare Ie vi site di carattere turisticoculturale a Venezia e localita vicine. Il gruppo rientrera in
Australia a fine novembre dopo un susseguirsi di visite a citta d'arte e localita paesaggistiche stupende: da Venezia alle Dolomiti, da Vicenza e Verona alla riviera del Brenta; Firenze, San Gimignano e Siena; Assisi e Roma, Napoli e Pompei. C'e stata anche un'udienza dal Papa in Vaticano, dove il gruppo e stato accompagnato da un rappresentante del Centro accoglienza Italiani nel Mondo. Non e mancata la visita della Basilica di San Pietro con I'entrata dalla Porta Santa. L'Associazione veronesi nel mondo si e poi fatta
onore di ospitare il gruppo a una cena a Bussolengo. Il gruppo «giubilare» ha portato doni, oltre aHa gioia e dignita di vivere in un paese civile e accogliente come I'Australia. Doni semplici e significativi: bandierine, boomerang, portachiavi e altri ricordi delle Olimpiadi, dati in omaggio ad autorita amici, familiari e corregionali. Un dono di natura «affettiv~l» e stato consegnato anche al Papa: un libro di storia dell 'emigrazione italiana in Australia e una bandiera del Veneto Club.

Padovani nel 11ondo Sede di Melbourne "Quest/anno so no stati Premiati 77 padovani di Melbourne. La Camera di Commercio di Padova e la PadovaninelMondo, hanno consegnato i certificati di benemerenza ai propri concittadini con almena 25 anni di permanenza in Australia. " Questo era il titolo che fu stampato nel "Messaggero di Sant'Antonio", il periodico da Padova con distribuzione mondiale. La consegna di questi attestati ha avuto luogo nel corso di un pranzo di gala al Veneto Club i 1 2 aprile. II presidente Mario Sonza ha dato il benvenuto ai presenti a agli ospiti, e Walter Reffo, in veste di primo presidente, ha ricordato i momenti pili belli del sodalizio, e ha auspicato che i giovani si inseriscano presto nel Comitato e nel tessuto sociale dell'organizzazione per tenere vive Ie tradizioni e la cultura di Padova e del Veneto. "Se muoiono Ie nostre associazioni - ha detto Reffo - una grossa parte della nostra cultura sparisce, perch<! la cultura trova base e slancio proprio nelle associazioni. " Dopo il pranzo, il presidente Mario Sonza, e il vice-presidente Luigi Marchetti, con 1'assistenza della segretaria Livia Marchetti, hanno consegnato i certificati felicitandosi personalmente con tutti i premiati.

E seguita una parentesi musicale. Durante l'anno sono state organizzate gite di alcuni giomi in luoghi di interesse turistico. I picnic sono diventati famosi per varieta e abbondanza di cibo, cosi pure Ie cene familiari, contrassegnate da allegria e da una partecipazione soddisfacente. Come al solito la festa principale e stata quella in onore di Sant'Antonio di Padova, che viene celebrata con un "Dinner Dance" al Veneto Club nel mese di giugno. Attualmente i nostri soci si stanno preparando per il Quinto Congresso Nazionale dei Padovani che si terra a Sydney durante il mese di Novembre. Su
questo evento, nella prossima edizione di questo periodico, faro la mia relazione. Colgo l'occasione per ringraziare il Presidente del Veneto Club ed il suo Comitato per l'ospitalita e per illoro aiuto durante l'anno. Trevisani nel Mondo Sede di Melbourne '
Siamo onnai aHa fine del secondo millennio della cristianita e pare che parecchi meRlbri del Direttivo A.T.M. vogliano anche loro mettere tennine al loro incarico e lasciare ad altri, un po' pili giovani, il compito di organizzare e di dirigere questa Associazione. D'altronde bisogna riconoscere che ci sono alcuni membri che sono rimasti nel Direttivo fin dagli inizi dell'Associazione, cioe fin dal lon~ano 1976, ed e anche giusto che si prendano il meritato riposo. Prevediamo quindi che alla prossima assemblea generale ci saranno parecchie facce nuove in seno al Direttivo A.T.M., anzi caldamente invitiamo membri che sono disposti a fare sacrifici a inviare illoro nome al segretario affinche si dia la possibilita ai soci di eleggere il nuovo Direttivo. Comunque sia il futuro, quelli che hanno fatto parte del Direttivo possono essere contenti del passato perche la Trevisani nel Mondo e su buona strada e in questi anni ha fatto parecchie cose di cui si puo essere fieri. II 1999 si era chiuso con successo e il
2000 ha fatto ancora di pili. Ci si era accorti che Ie feste sociali fatte di sera non davano i risultati che si sperava e cosi i soci nell'assemblea generale di febbraio hanno manifestato il desiderio che si limitino Ie feste di sera e si organizzino pili feste di giomo. Quest'anno abbiamo organizzato due giomate di festa con santa messa al centro Assisi, seguite da pranzo nella sala Venezia del Veneto Club. II numero dei partecipanti ha sup erato Ie 300 unita. Per di pili abbiamo organizzato il picnic a marzo e fu ancora un gran successo. Alla fine di maggio una scampagnata a Dromana e purtroppo non si e potuto accontentare tutti quelli che desideravano partecipare per mancanza di spazio a tavola. A ottobre abbiamo invitato i Trevisani e amici a un pranzo di beneficenza per un missionario del Kenya e si e potuto consegnare a Padre Armando Camillo della Consolata un assegno di quasi tre mila dollari. A meta luglio ci fu una gita di quattro giomi a Griffith e chi vi ha partecipato non vede l'ora che se ne organizzi un'altra... Insomma un

anna veramente bello e pieno di soddisfazioni per chi organizza rna soprattutto per tutti quelli che vi hanno partecipato. Ora si vuol chiudere questa millennio con una spettacolare serata nella sala San Marco del Veneto Club la sera di sabato 25 novembre. In programma oltre che una buona scelta di cibi, abbiamo prenotato un'ottima orchestra e ci sara un floor show di brani nostalgici e cari e inoltre un floor show di ballerine. In quella serata otto soci che sono in Australia da piu di 25 anni riceveranno la medaglia e la pergamena.
Sono piu di 300 i soci che hanno gia ricevuto questa riconoscimento. Chiudiamo un anna di attivita ben riuscite, siamo certi che l'esperienza di chi rimane nel Direttivo e Ie energie fresche di chi fara parte del futuro Direttivo continueranno a far divertire i soci e nella stesso tempo a far del bene a chi ci chiede il nostro aiuto. Mentre ringraziamo il Veneto Club per l'ospitalita che ci da, un sincero grazie a quei membri del Direttivo che lasceranno il posto alIa fine d'anno e un augurio al nuovo Direttivo di continuare Ie buone e care tradizioni della nostra Marca Gioiosa .. Associazione Vicentini nel Mondo Sede di Melbourne Dal Presidente Pier Giorgio Cappellotto Sulle scrivanie dei nostri politici italiani, veneti e vicentini, sono sicuro si trovano pac chi di carteggi che sperano di poter sbrigare prima delle feste natalizie che sono gia qui. Gli articoli di legge 56 e 57 che stabiliscono in 12 il nurrtero dei deputati ed in 6 quello dei senatori che formeranno la circoscrizione estero sono stati approvati dal Senato. Ora dobbiamo aspettare che si concluda l'iter legislativo e gli italiani all'estero potranno per la prima volta votare i propri rappresentanti a Roma. La prima conferenza degli italiani nel mondo si svolge a Roma poco prima di Natale con l'intesa e la speranza di poter veramente dare molte risposte ai quesiti dei partecipanti. L'Italia ha deciso di finanziare la formazione professionale dei connazionali all'estero. Ottima decisione che speriamo si avveri presto. Fra qualche anna anche l'Italia avra un esercito di professionisti in quanto la leva e stata abolita. Si parla assiduamente di federalismo, pensano che ci vorranno anni prima di vedere
delle valide iniziative sull'argomento. naturalmente sempre pili tema giomaliero sta diventando la globalizzazione definita la nuova dimensione della contemporaneita generata dalle pili spedite e pili facili interazioni tra nazioni. Economie e popolazioni a dimensione planetaria. Tale fenomeno porta nuove opportunita con possibilita di realizzare per ogni individuo e da allo sviluppo umano una dimensione di dignita basata suI conoscere ed il sapere e la facolta di esercitare la democrazia pili eletta. Mi auguro che il seguente elenco della dichiarazione universale dei diritti dell'uomo vi aiuti ad acquisire quello spirito natalizio che viene dalla convinzione di essere partecipi di un movimento atto a ridurre la poverta nel mondo ed a promuovere l'eguaglianza. Anche se sono ben conscio di cio che ebbe a dire Balzac "L 'eguaglianza puo senza dubbio essere un diritto rna non vedo che ci sia una potenza su questa terra che 10 possa far diventare unfatto reale".

Dal Gruppo Anziani di Bulleen Anche l'anno 2000 se ne sta andando. II tempo passa in fretta, il nostro gruppo e ancora consistente malgrado che diversi se ne siano andati: questa e legge di natura. II nostro comitato e cambiato di poco. Ora c'e come presidente la signora Dorina Di Marzio che porta avanti molto bene il nostro gruppo. Cerca di fare gite per avere qua1che diversivo, certo dipende anche dal tempo molto variabile. Ci scusiamo rna non abbiamo foto recenti. In queste poche righe credo che sia state detto tutto. "Blue Ribbon Day" e
"Tynan - Eyre Cup" 11 Veneto Club ha ospitato la finale della competizione calcistica in memoria dei due poliziotti Tynan e Eyre deceduti nel compimento delloro dovere in una memorabile e tragica circostanza 12 anni fa in Walsh Street a South Yarra (Melbourne). Da allora un comitato della Polizia, attualmente presieduto da Neil Soullier, ricorda il sacrificio dei due agenti organizzando a scopo di beneficenza un torneo calcistico a lora nome. La finale del tom eo di quest'anno e stata disputata suI campo da gioco del Veneto Club tra "South Melbourne" e "Melbourne Knight" con la vittoria del "South Melbourne" per 3 a 1. Nella stessa giornata si e celebrata anche la ricorrenza del "Blue Ribbon Day". Una ricorrenza anche questa istituita due anni fa in memoria del sacrificio di altri due agenti, Gary Silk e Rodney Miller, uccisi in un agguato a Moorabbin nell'agosto del 1998. Per questa ricorrenza (29 settembre) dedicata alla memoria di tutti gli agenti di Polizia che hanno sacrificato la loro vita nel compimento delloro dovere, tutti gli anni si chiede alla popolazione di acquistare ed esibire un nastrino a quadretti bianchi e blu, come i colori della Polizia. Alle celebrazioni che hanno avuto luogo al Veneto Club erano presenti fra Ie molte personalita, Neil Soullier Chief Executive Officer della Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation, Peter Balassone membro del comitato "Bulleen-Zebras" e del comitato "Tynan-Eyre Cup", il console generale d'ltalia dott. Gianni Bardini e il sindaco di Manningham Lionel Allemand.
