Mother’s Day, Cannabis, and the War on Truth

This Mother’s Day, while much of our world is flooded with brunch pics, sugary tributes to moms, and traditional bouquets of flowers, let’s fire up a fat ass joint to burn through the Hallmark fog and talk about something real fucked up. Let’s talk about how governments, especially here in the U.S. have systematically hurt ALL mothers by waging a hundred year war against cannabis

For decades and decades, politicians have clung to the idiotic remnants of reefer madness. They pump out racist, fear-mongering propaganda that’s torn families apart and locked parents in cages, many of them mothers, over a plant that’s safer than the booze served at those fancy Mother’s Day brunches Instead of protecting moms, the system punishes them Imagine losing your children, your job, or your home simply because you use cannabis to ease chronic pain, manage anxiety, or survive cancer treatments. That’s not freedom, that’s state sponsored cruelty

And let’s not forget the racial hypocrisy baked into cannabis prohibition Black and Brown mothers have been disproportionately targeted, arrested, and jailed, while wealthy white entrepreneurs now cash in on a $28 billion dollar industry, and probably more like $56 billion if you add in Hemp The same government that declared the “War on Drugs” has watched, unapologetically, as generations of mothers have been brutalized by a system rigged to destroy their families, all while knowing damn well that cannabis never deserved prohibition or criminalization.

This Mother’s Day, we need more than the traditional bouquet of flowers for our moms We need action that destroys the lies and those who continue to perpetuate them We need to honor our mothers by fighting for their right to heal without fear. We need to demand expungements, reparations, and a future where no mother has to choose between her health and her children, or her medicine and her freedom

Cannabis isn’t the enemy, it never was and everyone on the planet knows this, unless you’ve been brainwashed by the very governments I’m railing about right now. The enemy is the machine that profits off punishment, the politicians who cling to failed policies, and the corporations who act like they invented weed while mothers rot in prison

So, fire up the fattest joint or blunt, torch your wax, rip your bong, sip your infused beverage, use your favorite topical, or eat an entire batch of wings with unfused hot sauce; share it with your mom because this Mother’s Day is not just a celebration, it’s a personal rebellion Because the greatest gift we can give mothers isn’t a card or a bouquet, it’s justice. And it’s long overdue!

Mother the first shelter, the soft drumbeat before thunder, the breath before name She is the unseen scaffold that holds up the world while the world keeps breaking her.

"Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children..." but what happens when those lips are cracked with hunger, when those hearts are taught to forget?

When the system trades lullabies for sirens, cradles for cages, love for lawsuits?

They say God is everywhere but I see her most in a tired woman’s eyes, half-lit in the glow of a last joint, whispering stories into a world that stopped listening. If mothers are divine, then this country’s guilty of heresy, criminal neglect of the holy.

Raise your fists like prayers. Light candles like torches. And never forget: the revolution was born in the arms of a woman who had nothing but love and rage
