FISHER STEREOTYPES
FOR EQUAL WORK

Without Discrimination
The stereotype that fishermen are only men is a common view inherent in society that fishermen are a profession that is only run by men.

"women work almost 17 hours and contribute 48% to the fishermen's family economy". KIARA, 2019
Data shows that out of 1 million fishermen’s cards in Indonesia, it is believed that there are only 2 women who get the card (KIARA, 2019).
Fisherwomen are still recognized as part of the fishermen's household, in accordance with "UU No.7/2016

Tentang Perlindungan dan Pemberdayaan Nelayan, Pembudidaya Ikan dan Petambak Garam"

State recognition of fisherwomen is still considered very minimal.
