IL VERO BUSINESS SI FA FACE TO FACE FASHION IS A PEOPLE BUSINESS

n un’epoca caratterizzata dalla ridefinizione dei media e di ogni sorta di comunicazione, è normale che anche il canale fieristico sia sottoposto ad attento scrutinio. La drammatica verità è che non necessariamente ciò che ha sempre funzionato, o addirittura fatto furore, sia destinato a predominare anche in futuro. Il caso Bread & Butter, a questo riguardo, è emblematico. Ora come ora bastano semplici errori di navigazione, anche minimi, per spostare i flussi di compratori in modo significativo. Ciò che, ai tempi d’oro, veniva perdonato seduta stante, può al giorno d’oggi decretare la fine di interi format espositivi. Una rivisitazione dei modelli di business è dunque d’obbligo. Il mero affitto di spazi non è più sufficiente. Si tratta di uno sviluppo che è, però, anche foriero di opportunità. In questo momento di riassetti assistiamo alla nascita di veri e propri palinsesti espositivo-comunicativi a 360 gradi. Quando il contatto con il cliente si fa sempre più virtuale, è più che mai prezioso l’incontro fisico, immediato, “epidermico”. Se mi sposto voglio vivere un’esperienza di business, sì, ma anche di acculturazione, di scambio di know how e, perché no, di propagazione delle mie attività sui social di riferimento, incontrando fisicamente gli influencer per poi vedere moltiplicato il mio messaggio. Questo è ciò che oggi sia il buyer, sia l’espositore esigente si aspettano di trovare. Più che mai, si tratta di non deluderli.

2016: cambiamenti in vista Se per il primo semestre dell’anno ci sono certezze, per il secondo si profilano nuovi scenari. Come il progetto del vice ministro Carlo Calenda di portare tutta la filiera moda italiana nei padiglioni di Rho, per dar vita a una grande fiera, che si svolga in contemporanea alla fashion week donna di Milano di/by Elena Azzola

Nel momento in cui chiudiamo redazionalmente la nostra Guida ai Saloni 2016, il 10 dicembre 2015, è difficile dar conto di tutti i cambiamenti in vista sul fronte fiere in questo nuovo anno di moda, soprattutto nel secondo semestre. Alcune novità sono già state annunciate (essendo il frutto di strategie di lungo periodo), ma altre sono in attesa di conferme e altre ancora sono solo ipotizzabili. Partiamo dall’Italia, dove sono sempre più concreti gli appelli a fare sistema e a concentrare le date degli appuntamenti. In particolare, l’input viene dal vice ministro allo Sviluppo Economico, Carlo Calenda, che recentemente ha ribadito il suo progetto di portare, già a partire da settembre 2016, tutta la filiera moda nei padiglioni di Rho, per dar vita a una grande fiera, che si svolga in contemporanea con la fashion week donna di Milano. Calenda, che con il suo ministero ha già investito quasi 40 milioni di euro a favore delle fiere del tessile-abbigliamento made in Italy, sta lavorando a tal fine insieme a Sistema Moda Italia, Assocalzaturifici (calzature), Aimpes (pelletteria) e Milano Unica (tessuti). Anche se ci sono delle oggettive preclusioni da parte di alcuni soggetti. A Firenze il ruolo di Pitti Immagine diventa sempre più centrale nelle vicende locali relative alle location delle manifestazioni.

2016: changes ahead While we can be sure of certain events over the first half of the year, there are new scenarios on the horizon for the second half. Such as Carlo Calenda’s plan to bring the entire fashion industry to the Rho pavilions to create a major trade fair, which will take place at the same time as Milan Fashion Week. As we finish editing our 2016 Guide to the Trade Shows on December 10, 2015, it is difficult to account for all the exhibition changes that will unfold over the next fashion year, particularly for the second half. Some changes have already been announced (the result of long-term strategies), but others are either awaiting confirmations or are only hypothetical. We begin with Italy, where there is an increasing demand to plan ahead and fix the dates of the events. Carlo Calenda, the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, has been a notable contributor to this discussion, Fairs 2016

recently reiterating his plan to bring the entire fashion industry to the Rho pavilions, starting from September 2016, to create a major trade fair, which will take place at the same time as Milan Fashion Week. Calenda’s ministry has already invested nearly 40 million euros in Italian textile and clothing trade shows, working in collaboration with Sistema Moda Italia, Assocalzaturifici (footwear), Aimpes (leather) and Milano Unica (textiles). There are nonetheless distinct obstacles in some cases. In Florence, Pitti Immagine has increasingly been under the spotlight in local affairs regarding the locations of events. The company that organizes, among other events, Pitti Immagine Uomo has made an agreement with Firenze Fiera, which runs the Fortezza da Basso, in order to prevent uncertainties for the next edition of the important menswear trade show. But that is not all: there is even talk of a future merger between the two companies, so that Pitti Immagine will not merely be a “tenant”, but will have a greater Fairs 2016

Ma c’è di più: si parla addirittura di fusione in futuro tra le due realtà, con Pitti Immagine non più dunque solo “affittuaria” degli spazi della Fortezza ma con un coinvolgimento maggiore. La società guidata da Raffaello Napoleone segna punti a suo favore anche riguardo alla location della Stazione Leopolda, dove si tengono altre mostre “minori” by Pitti: messa all’asta da una società immobiliare delle Ferrovie, sarà probabilmente acquistata dal Comune di Firenze, che chiede in cambio a Pitti Immagine l’impegno a utilizzare quegli spazi per i prossimi (almeno) 18 anni, continuando a pagarne l’affitto. controllata e rilevato dal gigante berlinese dell’e-commerce Zalando nel giugno 2015. Molti si chiesero allora che interesse potesse avere Zalando, che con la sua piattaforma di vendita online si rivolge direttamente ai consumatori finali, nell’investire in un salone b2b. Dubbi, per la verità, mai chiariti, visto che Zalando ancora non si è attivato nel progettare il “suo” Bread & Butter: l’edizione dell’inverno 2016 è stata annullata, a causa dell’utilizzo dell’ex aeroporto per l’emergenza profughi, e sostituita da un evento benefico, mentre quella di luglio è confermata, ma non si conoscono né le date né il concept. La Francia, sconvolta dagli attentati di novembre, non si ferma certo sul fronte delle manifestazioni: ha ribadito tramite l’associazione Unimev (l’unione francese delle professioni fieristiche) che «gli eventi devono continuare a esistere

In Europe, Berlin has confirmed its traditional fashion events, except for Bread & Butter, the trade show focused on sportswear and youth fashion stationed at former airport Tempelhof, founded by Karl-Heinz Müller, which ended up in receivership and was taken over by Berlin e-commerce giant Zalando in June 2015. At the time, many wondered what interest Zalando, which caters directly to consumers through its online sales platform, might have in investing in a B2B trade show. Indeed, these doubts have never been erased, since Zalando has not yet begun planning its “own” Bread & Butter: the Winter 2016 edition was cancelled, due to the use of the former airport for the refugee crisis, and replaced by a charity event, while the July edition has been confirmed, but the exact dates and concept are not yet available. France, devastated by the November attacks, will by no means be cancelling its shows: UNIMEV (The French Meeting Industry Council) reiterated that “events should continue to exist as opportunities to meet, exchange and share.” One notable change is the temporary transfer of the Interfilière and Mode City Fairs 2016

trade shows (showcasing beachwear, underwear and materials for these sectors) from Paris to Lyon next July, as a result of the clash with the UEFA 2016 cup final. In the United Kingdom, Pure London opens its doors to men’s fashion in February, with a selection of clothing, footwear and accessories. There will certainly be 30 brands present at the event, but the organizers aim to reach 60-80. The “westernization” of Asian trade shows continues with the large Chic event in Shanghai, which has been confirmed for both the March and October editions. The Italian fashion industry continues to have a strong presence at the event, with the La moda Italiana@Chic exhibition project, which revolves around clothing, accessories and shoes, involving Ente Moda Italia, Agenzia Ice, Sistema Moda Italia and Assocalzaturifici. On the same days and at the same location (the National Exhibition and Convention Center), Milano Unica China, which focuses on textiles, and Filo, dedicated to yarns, will also take place. Shanghai’s status as the Chinese fashion capital of fashion encouraged The Hub trade show, which was previously held in Hong Kong, to move here last October.

In Inghilterra Pure London da febbraio apre le porte all’uomo, con una sezione di abbigliamento, calzature e accessori. A scommetterci sono già 30 brand, ma gli organizzatori puntano a raggiungere i 60-80 a ridosso della manifestazione. In Asia si consolida l’“occidentalizzazione” dei saloni di moda, con il grande hub Chic di Shanghai che conferma le due edizioni stagionali di marzo e ottobre. Al suo interno la filiera italiana prosegue nel presentarsi compatta, grazie al progetto espositivo La moda Italiana@Chic, che include abbigliamento, accessori e calzature, coinvolgendo Ente Moda Italia, Agenzia Ice, Sistema Moda Italia e Assocalzaturifici. Negli stessi giorni e nella stessa location (il National Exhibition and Convention Center) si svolgono anche Milano Unica China sui tessuti e Filo sui filati. L’affermazione di Shanghai come capitale cinese della moda ha indotto a trasferirsi qui, già dallo scorso ottobre, il salone The Hub, che in precedenza si svolgeva a Hong Kong.

Un leader nel cuore di Mosca La 26esima edizione di Cpm - Collection Première Moscow ritorna nella capitale russa dal 23 al 26 febbraio, con un’offerta moda organizzata in diversi mondi stilistici: donna, uomo, bambino, designer, accessori e calzature, lingerie e beachwear. Particolare enfasi hanno i padiglioni nazionali, in primis da Germania, Francia, Italia, Spagna e Turchia. Del resto, aziende da più di 23 Paesi sono attese alla fiera, su una superficie stimata in circa 50mila metri quadri nel centro fieristico ubicato nel cuore di Mosca. Cpm si è accreditata negli anni come piattaforma leader per il settore moda nell’Europa dell’Est, ottenendo l’attenzione di department store, retailer e boutique dell’intera regione. Si può dire che sia “il” media per conquistare il mercato russo. Il salone ospita infatti nello show center della hall 8.3 sfilate di grande richiamo, oltre a un programma esaustivo di seminari ed eventi collaterali: per esempio “Designerpool”, il progetto di sponsorizzazione dei nuovi talenti dello stilismo. A leading platform in the heart of Moscow The 26th CPM – Collection Première Moscow will present itself from 23 to 26 February 2016 in competent, condensed and compact, professionally themed styling worlds: Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear, Designers’ Fashion, Accessories and Shoes, Lingerie and Beachwear. Special emphasis will be placed on the individual country pavilions organised by Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Turkey, to name but a few countries. Over 23 nations are expected to be represented at the trade fair. Organisers plan to again occupy approximately 50,000 m² of the Expocentre fair grounds which are centrally located at the heart of Moscow. CPM has become established as the leading platform in Eastern Europe, registering “profashionals” from department stores, retailers and boutiques as its visitors. It has developed into THE medium for the Russian consumer market. Crowd-pulling catwalk shows at the dedicated Show-Center in Hall 8.3 as well as an extensive programme of seminars and side events are also offered by the organiser. The sponsoring scheme “Designerpool” for young designers will also be available again. «Il made in Italy da solo non basta: bisogna fare sistema» di/by Alessandra Bigotta

Nato nel 1983 su iniziativa del Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana e di Smi, EmiEnte Moda Italia accompagna le aziende del nostro Paese nei territori più ricettivi verso il made in Italy. Un giro del mondo che nel 2016 fa tappa in Corea, Russia, Usa, Giappone, Kazakistan e Cina. Alberto Scaccioni, a.d. di Emi, fa il punto su questi mercati. La prima trasferta di Emi è dal 27 al 29 gennaio in Corea: un Paese che sembra amare incondizionatamente il made in Italy... La Corea mostra un’elevata attenzione verso la moda, soprattutto italiana, e si sta proiettando verso grandi trasformazioni. La prospettiva dell’unificazione delle due Coree è reale e, quando si concretizzerà, porterà a nuovi scenari, tutti da scoprire. Dal 23 al 26 febbraio siete in Russia con Italian Fashion@Cpm. C’è molta ansia sul Paese: qual è il vostro punto di vista? All’incertezza che ha travolto la Russia contribuisce la situazione dei prezzi di petrolio e gas, fermi su livelli bassi. Il legame con l’Italia e la sua moda resta comunque forte e non escludo che le nostre aziende possano beneficiare del raffreddamento dei rapporti tra Putin ed Erdogan, a capo di una nazione che soprattutto in certi settori è per noi un competitor agguerrito.

Il format varato nel 2015 - una vera fashion week dedicata al made in Italy, nel contesto di un salone importante quale è Chic e di una metropoli in costante trasformazione, Shanghai - decolla con il nuovo anno. La Cina somiglia per certi versi alla Russia dei primi anni Duemila: tante le potenzialità, ma occorrono un’attività di “intelligence”, oltre a un approccio strutturato, per affrontare con successo una galassia ricca di sfumature e anche insidie.

Dal 16 al 18 febbraio, con Italian Fashion@ Project Women, e dal 22 al 24 con Italian Fashion@Coterie, vi presentate sulla scena degli Stati Uniti. Un’area iper-strutturata, matura, dove non è semplice farsi notare e le fiere sono frammentate. Ci piacerebbe aggredire questo mercato insieme ad altri settori merceologici che rendono unico il made in Italy.

«Made in Italy’ is not enough: we need to create a system» Founded in 1983 by Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and Sistema Moda Italia, EMI-Ente Moda Italia accompanies the Italian fashion brands to the countries that are most receptive to Made in Italy products. The 2016 world tour stops off in Korea, Russia, USA, Japan, Kazakhstan and China. Alberto Scaccioni, CEO of EMI, analyzes these markets. The first trip of EMI and the Italian brands is scheduled from 27 to 29 January to Korea, a country that loves Made in Italy products… Korea demonstrates a great interest in fashion, especially Italian fashion, and is heading towards great transformations. There is a real prospect of unification between the two Koreas and when it will take place, new, unexplored scenarios will open. From 23 to 26 February you will be in Russia with Italian Fashion@Cpm. What is your opinion about the country? Oil and gas prices remain low and the uncertainty about Russia still high. However, the country still has a strong link with Italy and interest in the Italian fashion. I would not rule out the potential benefit for our companies that might result from the cooling of relations between Putin and Erdogan, the leader of a nation that, especially in certain sectors, is one of our fiercest competitors. From 16 to 18 February, with Italian Fashion@Project Women, and from 22 to 24 with Italian Fashion@Coterie, you will be in the United States. A hyper-structured, mature market, where it is not easy to get noticed and fairs are fragmented. We would like to attack this market along with other sectors in which ‘Made in Italy’ products are unique. From 17 to 19 February, there are three days with Italian Fashion@Rooms in Japan... One comment suffices for this case: Japan cannot be disregarded. Having a presence there is crucial. From 10 to 12 March you will be in Kazakhstan, with Italian Fashion@Central Asia Fashion in Almaty. Is Kazakhstan immune from the tensions that have affected Russia? Kazakhstan is certainly not in the eye of the storm, but it is particularly important to be on location this time, to understand for example the possible repercussions of the tension with Turkey on the fashion industry. Last but not least, La Moda Italiana@Chic, from 16 to 18 March. The format that we launched in 2015 - a true ‘Made in Italy’ fashion week, in the context of a large exhibition like Chic and in a constantly evolving metropolis like Shanghai - is a springboard for significant developments in 2016. In some ways China resembles Russia at the beginning of the twenty-first century: lots of potential, but one needs an intelligent, structured approach to conquer a galaxy with good perspectives but also a “dark” side.

More creativity and research dedicated to fashion Now that the Milano Unica World 2015 tour has ended, with the highlight event in Shanghai, the exhibition of textiles and textile accessories will start 2016 with a focus on quality, research and information. Textiles and accessories for spring-summer 2016 take the spotlight in February: Stefano Fadda, the exhibition’s art director, explains that it will be a season that “defines new material through transformation and manipulation of the present. It is not the starting material, but the result that matters.” There are four key themes: “Abyss”, “Nature and Artifice”, “Africa Punk” and “Psycho Bit”. “Our task,” observes the exhibition’s new president, Ercole Botto Poala, “is to interpret and present color and textile trends, research inspirations, as well as the great events and social influences that inspire the collections.” The result is an imitable prism through which to interpret trends and creative processes: allowing Milano Unica “to remain a world leader in a unique and valuable sector.” The Trend Area of the exhibition, in the words of general manager Massimo Mosiello, is “the realization of important economic and creative efforts. rounded off by contemporary concepts is a continuous process to meet the specific requirements of a constantly changing market. The show in show concept BLUEZONE, originally initiated as the first unique denim show, runs parallel on the first two trade show days. Some 80 international suppliers including leading denim brands use BLUEZONE as a key event to present the latest innovations of the continuously fast-moving developmental process in the denim and sportswear sector.
