THE GATO GAZETTE

BREAKING NEWS

QUEEN MOGGALINE IS MISSING!

Her Royal Pawness, Queen Moggaline is nowhere to be found.

Her butler, Sir Sleeves, confirmed she hasn’t been seen since she left the Paw Palace after her breakfast this morning. Luckily our friend Tabitha Flair is on the case with Whiskery Paw resident detective kitty, Purrlock Holmes.

So far, there have been no official sightings in Tabby Town, but rumours are swirling that glowing stars have been seen in The Mew Forest.

If any Star Kitties know anything, please contact the detective duo as soon as you can.

Until our beloved Royal Kitty is returned safely home, this will be our last issue of The Gato Gazette.

Until then, MEOW!

BECOME A CUPCAKE CONNOISSEUR WITH MIMI CRUMBLES, THE CUPCAKE KITTY

Every occasion deserves good cake and this month our guest editor is Mimi Crumbles, the best baker in all of Whiskery Paw. Mimi is here to guide you through how to decorate cupcakes with pawfect precision.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Pre-packaged chocolate cupcakes (or ask a grown-up to make these using their favourite recipe)

200g icing sugar

100g unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1tsp pink food colouring

A piping bag with a nozzle

Sprinkles (star shaped ones are best)

Fresh strawberries (cut into slices or halves)

MIMI CRUMBLES’ TOP TIP:

If you want to make your cupcakes even more magical, sprinkle a tiny bit of edible glitter on top. It’s like a party on a cupcake!

STEP 1: MAKE YOUR FROSTING

Ask a grown-up to beat together the softened butter using either a hand or electric mixer

As they are doing this, gradually sift in all the icing sugar until it’s all mixed together

Once mixed, add in the pink food colouring and vanilla essence

STEP 2: FROST THE CUPCAKES

Continue to mix until your buttercream is light and fluffy

Once your buttercream is ready, fill a piping bag and pipe it over your cupcakes

Make it as swirly as you like

STEP 3: DECORATE YOUR CUPCAKES

Sprinkle your favourite colourful sprinkles on the top – the more, the merrier.

If you have any star-shaped sprinkles, place these on top to make your cupcake extra magical

Add a few slices of fresh strawberry on top of each cupcake to finish
