The range of saws included in this booklet have been individually selected due to their high level of both engineering and material quality. The precision action required for a saw blade to cut effectively, as outlined below, dictates that anything less than the highest quality blade will not satisfy our shareholders’ requirements. Farmlands’ range of correctly hardened and sharpened saws will undertake clean cuts with ease.
Cutting
The knife-like ‘tip’ of the teeth cut through wood fibres. The integrity of the strength and sharpness of this ground ‘tip’ is essential to achieve an effective cutting action.
Straight Blade Saws
Separating
Teeth edge carve out wood from between the cuts.
Gullets on the upper edge of the teeth collect and discharge sawdust from the cut. Sharpness and durability is essential for efficiency and effectiveness.
Preferred by professionals and hobbyists alike for ease of maneuverability between and among tightly-spaced branches, straight blade saws are easier to control and less likely to nick nearby branches than curved blades. Straight blades also enable the user to manipulate hinge wood for precision log felling techniques. Although incredibly smooth and efficient cutters, straight blades aren’t quite as fast as curved blades.
Curved Blade Saws
The curved saw blade provides greater cutting speed with less effort. Curved blades are more aggressive in their cutting, because during the action the blade first creates a peak in the cut then knocks it off.
