Located near the foothills of the Southern Alps, in the Rakaia Gorge, the Harper family are proud to call Quartz Hill Station home. Covering 2,800ha, Quartz Hill Station is a large sheep, beef and deer station with varying terrain – half of it is steep hill country with 30 percent cultivated rolling paddocks and 20 percent easy hill country.
Established in 1988 by Georgie’s parents Colin and Hilary Guild, the property has developed to become a highperforming station, with 19,000 stock units and a strong focus on deer. Quartz Hill Station was awarded the Silver Fern Farms Livestock Farm Award in the 2009 Canterbury Region Ballance Farm Environment Awards, due to their focus on stock health, quality production, and the integration of sheep, cattle and deer to help preserve their unique environment.
Like many New Zealand farms, Quartz Hill faces a drastic climate that ranges from hot and dry summers through to bitterly cold, wet and snowy winters. The Clobber range helps to keep the Harper family warm, dry and comfortable all year round, whatever the weather.
