Free | Family Friendly The Grove at Mustang Station 12700 Denton Drive The award-winning concert series Denton Drive Live! kicks off its third season at The Grove at Mustang Station! With two bands performing nightly along with a host of children’s activities. DDL features the hottest live music bands in the DFW area and the outdoor stage at The Grove provides a fantastic setting to come experience the best in rock, country, blues, pop, Tejano and R&B. Awards Ceremony Gather up the kiddos, 16 and under, and come out to Gussie Field Watterworth Park, next to City Hall, for a morning of fishing, kid’s activities and fun. Rawhide Creek will be stocked full of fish. Be sure to bring your fishing rod or borrow one of ours. Free bait will be provided, and concessions will be available. Grab your swimsuit and get ready for a “splashing” good time during this unique egg hunt. Colored eggs will float and sink to the bottom of the pool. Collected eggs can be exchanged for candy and toys! Enjoy carnival games before the hunt. The hunt will be divided into age groups. *Children six years of age and younger are required to have a responsible adult at least 16 years of age in the water. An adult must be within an arm’s reach of a child at all times. Adult and child must both register.

Any adult with children who do not require an adult in the water, but still wants to swim, must also register. A non-swimmer will be required to pay the special event fee of $4. For more information, please visit fbh2o.com.

Easter Bunny Makes House Calls April 16 |Time slots range from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. $25 Residents/ $29 Non-residents Are you ready for the Easter Bunny to EGG your home? Each household receives 20 filled eggs with small candy, a letter from the Easter Bunny, a brief outdoor meet-and-greet and a photo opportunity (weather permitting) with the Easter Bunny. Limited to a five-mile radius of the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. Residents reservation begins March 1. Non-Resident reservation begins March 15 if slots are available. Adult Egg Hunt

Friday| April 1 | 8 - 11 p.m. $25 includes admission, 1 glass of wine and light refreshments; space is limited, and pre-registration is required.

Ages 21 + with ID. Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Ln Egg Hunts are not just for kids anymore! Enjoy a night of old fashioned fun as eager adults show up to experience the fierce competition. Every egg contains a prize. Guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight and good running shoes. Egg collection containers will be provided. Rain date will be Friday, April 8.

Register on Time Although participants may still enroll after a class begins,

families are encouraged to enroll in a timely manner. Waiting until the last minute might result in the class you want being full, or if enrollment is low, the class may be canceled.

Registration can be done online, in person or over the phone.

Community Recreation Center Class Registration

Youth class registration begins February 1 for March, April and May classes for residents and members*. Non-residents who are non-members may register for classes one week prior to the start of each session. *Excluding gymnastics. Please see page 11.

Class Fees and Dates

Class Policies

Only registered participants may enter the activity area. Pre-registration is required for all classes. The enrollment minimum must be met for a class to make. Refunds are available only before a class has started and with approval. To request a refund, contact a front desk staff member. A credit may be issued in place of a refund. Class fees are not prorated based on late enrollment or non-attendance. At the instructor’s discretion, participants may be able to make up a class.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to qualifying Farmers Branch residents for a variety of activities at the Community Recreation Center and Aquatics Center. See staff for information on how to qualify. A maximum of $100 per child (up to age 18), per fiscal year (October-September) may be received. Financial assistance is limited to one class per session, per child. Payment of 50 percent of class fee is due at time of registration. Ask about financial assistance for supplies as well!

Residents who are veterans of any branch of the United States Armed Forces and provide documentation evidencing the person has received a total service related disability rating of 50% or greater from the Department of Veterans Affairs shall be exempt from the payment at the Community Recreation Center, Aquatics Center and The Branch Connection.

Kids Zone Childcare

Childcare is offered for children ages six months to nine years. Kids Zone hours are: Monday and Wednesday 9-11 a.m. | Monday-Thursday 5:30- 8 p.m.

Saturdays 7:45 - 10:35 a.m.

The cost per child is $2 per visit. There is a two-hour maximum stay. Reservations are required by 4 p.m. the business day prior and are limited. Reservations are accepted up to 2 days in advance.

Teen Leadership Program

Holiday Craze: Spring Break

March 14-18 Cost: $95 Resident, $150 Non-resident, $50 Resident on Financial Assistance Holiday Craze is a recreational day camp program operated by the Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department. Holiday Craze is open to children ages 6-12 years. The program meets most weekdays during CFBISD holiday breaks" to March 14 - 18 at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center, located at 14050 Heartside Place. The program includes on-site activities, entertainment, field trips, and additional adventures.

Call 972-247-4607 for additional information. Registration for the spring session is currently underway online at fbyouthcamps.com. No in-person registration.

The Teen Leadership Program is a recreational and community service based program for teens ages 13-15 years. The program meets 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays from May 31-August 10* (excluding July 4) at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. Activities include volunteering with the Animal Adoption Center, Historical Park, Parks Projects, The Branch Connection, Aquatics Center, and other special projects/events. Other activities include swimming, fitness activities, field trips and themed parties.

Free breakfast and lunch are provided through the C-FBISD’s Summer Food Service Program when available (check website for updated information). Each participant receives a program t-shirt.

May 17 for Non-residents (space permitting) The Teen Fire and Rescue Academy features hands-on training, challenges, and drills including fire ground operations, search and rescue, basic CPR, arson investigation, and other related topics. Tours include various fire training facilities. Teens will end the week with a slideshow, award ceremony, and lunch.

Summer Funshine

Summer Funshine is a recreational day camp for children ages 6-12 years (as of May 26, 2022). The program meets 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays from May 26-August 10* (excluding May 30 and July 4) at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. Activities include swimming, character development, arts and crafts, fitness programs, and much more. Free breakfast and lunch are provided through the C-FBISD’s Summer Food Service Program when available (check website for updated information). Each participant receives a program t-shirt.

Wednesday | 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. | Age 3 - 5 $45 Member/$49 Non-member This class will focus on learning age appropriate techniques and developing gross motor skills, balance, musicality and performance skills. As beginners, students will be shown dance class etiquette.

The classroom environment encourages friendships, confidence building and teamwork. This class has performances throughout the school year. All performance information and costs will be discussed by the instructor. Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes are required.

Elementary Hip-Hop and Jazz

Thursday | 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Age 7 - 11; Second grade and up $55 members/ $59 non-members This class will focus on learning age appropriate technique, routines and choreography. Students will develop their balance, strength, isolation technique, musicality, and performance skills. The classroom environment encourages friendships, confidence building, and teamwork. Fitness or dance attire required. Skin-tone/tan jazz shoes and sneakers required. No midriff or short shorts. All supply and recital fees paid directly to the instructor and are non-refundable.

DIY Workshop: Build an Herb Garden

Ages 16 + BYOB for 21 + with ID Have you always wanted to try your hand at a DIY building project, but don’t know where to start? Let us take the guess work out of it! Learn how to build an herb garden from reclaimed wood in this fun, hands-on, step-by-step instructed class. All tools, materials,supplies, and safety equipment will be provided. Attendees will need to sign a hold harmless waiver to participate.

Mums & Sons: An Adventure in the Park

Sunday | May 1 | 1 - 3 p.m. | Family Friendly $12 per person; space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Looking for a way to celebrate mom? Join us for the 5th annual Mums & Sons: An Adventure in the Park.

Activities include lawn games, crafts, mock dig for treasure, a scavenger hunt, and tour of the Gilbert House. Light lunch fare will be served outdoors in the picnic area by the Caboose. Fun for all ages!

Vintage Base Ball Game

Saturday | April 2 and May 7 | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Family Friendly | Free HUZZAH! Fun for the whole family, see the Farmers Branch Mustangs play a game of Vintage Base Ball at the Historical Park. Complete with vintage uniforms, balls, bats and 1860s rules, this is a base ball experience like no other!

Encounters From the Past

Friday | April 22 | 7 - 9 p.m.

Farmers Branch Keenan Cemetery | 2570 Valley View Lane $5 per person, children 6 and under free; space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Visit the Farmers Branch Keenan Cemetery to meet many of the deceased citizens of North Texas who have helped to shape Farmers Branch into the community it is today. This lamp-lit tour will feature costumed actors taking on the roles of these prominent citizens during an evening of storytelling, history and family fun. Tours depart every 15 minutes starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m. Rain date will be Friday, April 29.

Charcuterie Board Class

Ages 16 + | BYOB for 21 + with ID. Looking for fun Ladies Night Out or Date Night ideas? The Historical Park’s Charcuterie Board Class has you covered. Learn the basic skills of creating a beautiful charcuterie board and get hands-on, step-by-step instruction and guidance. All the meats, cheeses, various nuts, crackers, fruits and sweets are included; the best part is you get to graze on the board you create. BYOB limited to one bottle of wine or two beers per person. BYOB for ages 21 and up only, must bring ID.

Sewing Machines

Want to learn how to sew? Check out one of the Library’s new sewing machines, available for one-week checkouts. One kit is allowed per Farmers Branch Adult Resident in good standing.

Manske Sprouts Seed Library & Gardening Kits

A library card is not needed to use the seed library. Patrons need only to complete a membership form to record their selections and “checkout” seeds. Patrons interested in checking out a gardening kit will be able to do so for one week (with one renewal).
